91. What took so long?
Jon ,   Austin, TX   (09.14.11)
I have known for YEARS that the left hates the Jews and loves the Islamic terrorists...Why has it taken so long for actual Jews to figure this out?
92. Weiners and Losers
may marlowe ,   Arlington, VA   (09.14.11)
To No 34 winners and losers, a play on words. Good for NY.
93. #82
Logic ,   Israel   (09.14.11)
Mark, I'm sorry to inform you that the Palestinians don't want a two state solution. They rejected Barak's offer for 93% of the territories and Olmert's offer for 100%. What they want is to win, not to compromise. If that means creating a Jew-free, Arab-Muslim Palestine alongside a de-Zionized Israel, that's fine with them. On the other hand, they refuse to recognize a sovereign Jewish state. For proof of this, do a quick search for "Nabil Shaath MEMRI" on Youtube.
94. Jews
Harry J. Smith ,   Toronto, Canada   (09.14.11)
Jews seem to be Israelis first and the country of residence second. Look at Lieberman's voting record. Anything pro Israel is o.k. and Palistinian not. Can't understand how after 2000 years people still believe these fairy tales. What if all Jews in the world wanted to "go home"? How much land would they need then?
95. Trends that no one mentioned
Logic ,   Israel   (09.14.11)
1. It's not so hard for the Orthodox to vote Republican, since they tend share several of the social values of conservatives. (On the other hand, notice that Turner wants to keep social security and medicare.) 2. The Orthodox stream is the fastest growing stream in Judaism. Regardless of the politicians, in the next few decades American Jews will be voting more and more for the GOP due to demographic changes.
96. #1 Hi Terry
yesjb ,   Canada   (09.14.11)
Terry, What did expect...so typical!
97. WHO IS AN OBAMA VOTER?
Steve ,   Norfolk, VA   (09.14.11)
ANSWER.... people who won't work, illegal aliens, union facists, idiot environmentalists, communists, lesbians, gays, transgenders, Hollywood-perverts, blacks just happy to have a black Pres that they don't care what Obama does, drug addicts, teacher unions who don't care about their students...all who will be ANTI-SEMITIC /ANTI-ISRAEL if it benefits Obamas re-election.
98. Support Israel & Freedom
Seth ,   Weatherford,TX   (09.14.11)
Jewish & Christian voters alike should vote to replace this UN-Godly, leftist, pro-Palestinian, & Islamic pleasing President
99. This is unprecedented
Alfred ,   New Jersey, USA   (09.14.11)
I can't begin to tell you how significant and unprecedented this is. A republican winning in New York city is rare enough. In a 40% Jewish district it is pretty much unheard of. This really never made much sense to me republicans in general are staunch supporters of Israel.
100. Obama's house seat
(09.14.11)
#1 Terry You are right-on once again.
101. Am I missing something?
David ,   Harrisburg USA   (09.14.11)
Why the consternation? 40% is not a majority. If the district in question is 40% Jewish, that means it is 60% something else, and that majority of "something else" won. BTW I'm not a Zionist. I'm fully committed to the USA and nation of my residence.
102. Solution for to no 2's problem
John Breckenridge ,   Maastricht, NL   (09.14.11)
The remedy for what ails you politically and what seems to be your view of history, is to be a loyal citizen of the only civilized and democratic country in your part of the world, Israel. It's like most medicine; after you swallowed it, you'll feel a lot better!
103. Der ObaMeinFuhrer
Buck O'Fama ,   Obamaha, USA   (09.14.11)
I am ecstatic at the crushing defeat for Obama in a state so blue that calling them liberal idiots is redundant. I never thought I would see the day when liberal jews would actually vote in a way that showed an iota of self interest towards either themselves or Israel. I guess I'll know when it's a sweep when pudding head Fran Drescher dumps DUH WON.
104. Salma - Ever thought of sharing?
CleanFun ,   Bay Area CA   (09.14.11)
The US has a very diverse population. We may not always see eye-to-eye, but we aren't launching rockets at each other. So it is possible to live together, in peace.
105. Many Americans STILL support Israel.
Lee ,   Dallas, Tx   (09.14.11)
If anyone hasnt figured it out yet, Dems are PRO Palestine. Republicans tend to be Christian and know the importance of Israel (biblically & strategically). I am Christian, and when it all spills over, I will be on a flight to Tel-Aviv to support my Jewish brothers. Many others feel this way as well. Do not believe the media. You still have an ally in the US. Minus the current administration of course....Remember Carter, study history...
106. Wiener seat goes to GOP
Eric ,   minnneapolis USA   (09.14.11)
I am very impressed that a group of voters in America who've long held a contemptuous relationship with the GOP have come to understand the true freedom in America isn't rooted in always supporting the same party...but looking beyond party to appreciate those things that have made America great. When you begin to screw with traditional values, you are screwing with those things that make American great...and the people will not vote for you. Whether you're in Brooklyn or Topeka, KS...the issues are very much the same. How do we slow down a rapid liberalization of American and protect and defend our closest friends and allies? By electing the candidate who can best protect those traditions...regardless of their politcal creed.
107. NY vote
Sully ,   Boston MA   (09.14.11)
There is a lot of seething racism in the comments here. I fully support Israel (I am not a Jew) but also support a separate Palestinian state, it HAS to happen. For centuries there has been war in the Middle East, which in a civilized world has to end. The Arab states need to jump in here too. As for a Catholic rather than a Jew in the district, its essentially the same since strict Catholics and conservative Jews are near equals in their treatment of women in general.
108. Oboma vs Israel
martin fairley ,   Pittman Center, TN   (09.14.11)
Obama is as huge a bigot as Jimmy Carter. Jews everywhere should realize this when they go to the voting booth!
109. RE: M. J. Koch
G. Fränkl   (09.14.11)
Enough of your disgusting brazen lies!
110. #94
Logic ,   Israel   (09.14.11)
So, a few Jews vote GOP and suddenly they're "Israelis first"?! Oddly enough, you don't question the patriotism of the Catholics who voted for Turner. Since you're from Canada, let me educate you: America is a free country and Jews can vote for whomever they feel like without answering to anyone.
111. #82 Mark: Thanks for Jstreet-Soros talking point.
Thomas ,   USA   (09.14.11)
Lieberman was - oh the Horror! - elected by the people. He represents a large segment of Israelis to the consternation of your people, the Soros-Jstreet-N.Y. Times Leftist cabal. The Kenyan Messiah must go! Live with it.
112. Anti Obama comments are laughable
Mark Jeffery Koch ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (09.14.11)
I read these posts and want to fall over laughing. There are six million Jews in America and close to four million live in New York and California. These two States always vote for the Democrat in a Presidential election. If you think that out of 310 million Americans the #1 issue in 2012 when they enter the voting booth is Israel you are incredibly naive. It will not be on the top ten issues for American voters. It may be for some Jewish voters but you might want to check the facts before you celebrate Obama's supposed loss in 2012. Over 90% of Jews vote in States that have no chance of going Republican in 2012. There is no way Obama is going to lose in California, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania or Florida so perhaps you need to put away the champagne and dream of other fantasies.
113. This is great news
Steven ,   Tulsa,USA   (09.14.11)
I hope every Jew in USA will vote against the Democrats...America needs a President and Congress that stands behind Israel all the way and all the time Gentile man from Tulsa
114. Time to abandon the Democrats.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.14.11)
Disgusting as Obama is; he is far from the only problem with the Democrats. Obama is bad for America, bad for Israel, bad for the Free World. But Hillary Clinton would be only marginally better. The Democrats have become a far left party and are undeserving of our support. On the other hand, the Republicans accurately represent what America truly stands for. Freedom, free enterprise, standing by one's allies etc. It's time to abandon the Democrats.
115. Support Israel - defeat Democrats
Ralph ,   Birmingham, AL   (09.14.11)
Clearly Obama and the Democrats are pro-Palestinian and anti-Israel. If you support Palestinian terrorists then by all means support the Democrats. If you support freedom of expression and freedom from oppression then vote against the Democrats. Obama is the worst thing to happen to the US since Woodrow Wilson.
116. #82: We will
Reality Check ,   Palm Beach, USA   (09.14.11)
Obamanomics has killed Floridas gold coast economy, the most important thing to it's mostly ex-new york jewish residents, for them Israel is a newspaper story. For the rest of us Floridians 2012 can't come soon enough for America as well as Israel.
117. NY Jewish population going Republican
Lee ,   Torrance USA   (09.14.11)
I am Catholic, Conservative, and 100% pro-Israel. I wish we had a man like Netanyahu in our White House. All the conservatives that I know are fierce defenders of the Jewish state of Israel, and of the Jewish people. God Bless you and welcome to the Republican party!! Shalom.
118. Dem loss in NY
Tim ,   Lexington, KY USA   (09.14.11)
This will likely open some eyes, but the Democrats are so much more pro-Arab than in the past, so maybe not. I'm frankly surprised it has taken this long to see this kind of result.
119. The real message to Obama
Jimmy Jenkins ,   Roswell, GA, USA   (09.14.11)
Hopefully American Jews have wised up to this pretenders real views. If you are actually stupid enough to buy into Obama's latest Jobs/ Stimulus Plan and his other dribble, then you are hopelessly uninformed, economically ignorant and educationally challenged. There are still a lot of Jews, Christians and others who are hopeless and continue to support this charlatan. Good riddance in 2012.
120. Israel & Liberals
Mr Big Boy ,   Williamsport, USA   (09.14.11)
Few liberals believe and support the Israel nation primarily because libs don't like tough or decisive leadership, which is mostly what Israel has demonstrated in my life time.
