Sunshine ,   Germany   (09.15.11)

Avi ,   Israel   (09.15.11)

64. Erdigan: Warships
Indiana ,   usa   (09.15.11)
Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. (The NKJV translates Zechariah 12:2 as "a cup of drunkenness") "And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though ALL THE PEOPLE OF THE EARTH be gathered together against it. In that day, saith the LORD, I will smite every horse with astonishment, and his rider with MADNESS: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will smite every horse of the people with blindness." (Zechariah 12:2-4)
65. "Down, boy," Erdogan!
Carl ,   USA   (09.15.11)
Erdogan is behaving like a little puppy who doesn't understand he is wrong and keeps trying to pick a fight he will badly lose.
66. Erdogan
Zvi ,   Istanbul   (09.15.11)
Living in Turkey for two decades and understand the language and knw how to read between the lines of the Turkish newspaper as well to look of Erdogan backgroun who is the product of growing up in apoor destitude and xenophibic neighborhood he is the product of the Turkish public educational system where he was brainwashed with glory of central Asian ancester who build the big ottoman empire. The result is that he sencerily beleive that he can bring the glory of the past. He very harshly critisized by pro Western and pro Israeli (Yes they are) journalists
67. Could Erdogan and Ahmadinejad be the same person?
shlomo ,   USA   (09.15.11)
68. #37: Observer
Israeli 2   (09.15.11)
Your observations are of the dead past. A small cruiser ship of the 1948war of independence era which has long been scrapped and your point is what? Israel devestated Egypt after that. No observation there? Your hatred of Israel is misplaced. Israelis are the most compassionate people in the world.
69. Israels subs can deal with your miserable boats tough guy.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.15.11)
70. Erdogan's Hitlerian Move
Brod ,   USA   (09.15.11)
Islamist-Jihadist Erdogan thinks that with his fellow Islamist-Jihadists controlling Iran, Egypt plus Hussien at the WH, they have cornered Israel as Hitler did to the Jews in WWII. Israel should wake up to this existential threat. In a battle for survival, surrounded by fanatical Islamist-Jihadists armed with modern weaponry, Israel should fight with all its armaments at her disposal. The Judeo-Christian world and Congress should also wake up and help Israel in defending herself against the Tsunami of dark forces led by Satan.
71. Jews must form alliance with Greeks fast
David ,   USA   (09.15.11)
Very important that Jews and Greeks form a new and strong alliance. Turks have gone insane and maybe it is time for the USA to drop them as an ally. Oh wait Obama is too stupid to realize who are friends and enemies are. It appears the Turks have backstabbed the JEWS
72. Turks are out of control!!!
Dave ,   USA   (09.15.11)
This is not the 16 th century and the mighty Turk empire is long long gone. If they keep this nonsense up they may greatly hurt relations with the West and USA. Turkey has already picked IRan and has cast off the jews.
73. There is an old saying.
noa ,   israel   (09.15.11)
"Look who a person's friends are, and you will know who they are."
74. Turkey is truly a Turkey lol!
Moragh   (09.15.11)
And into the bargain, erdogan the clown still has a head as thick as shit in the neck of a bottle. When will that cut-throat learn. Or better said, is it possible that he will EVER learn? And he is the head of a country... just goes to show what kind of followers he has... 'nuff said!
75. RANTING TURKISH PM
Adam ,   London   (09.15.11)
Barking Mad I Say
76. To 37 It's ironic you use the 67 war to make that point
NewMan   (09.15.11)
That the Israeli Navy suffered a blow... especially considering that that war is most famous for showing that todya the ultimate force in conventional warfare is air power. And how the entire Egyptian air force was annihilated within a few hours. The point about the INS Eilat rescue is that Egypt couldn't interfere at that point, because the Israel had complete and utter air superiority and could bomb Egypt with complete impunity.... The fact is that while you were attempting to make Israel look weak. You actually have shown why Erdogan's recent behavior is so fool hardy with attempts at sending out Naval forces to confront Israel. Do you think we would send boat against boat? Do we look that stupid to you? We would just sink massive naval vessels with UAVs or F-16I's. A JDAM on the bow or a hellfire missile at the control dock would break or cripple a ship. And considering that these vessels easily carry a 1,000 sailors, this would be enormous casualties! And a massively embarrassing and damaging event for Erdogan to throw away so many lives needlessly...
77. And where are Obama's wild protests
Ralph Haglund ,   Lund, Sweden   (09.15.11)
for Erdogan fiddling with the toys he has got? Did he put the stuff properly together after using his screwdriver? Maybe it is time for a Stuxnet F16 variety. Make the turk's F16 steerable with a joystick and distribute them among kids in Israel.
78. Turkish Delight
Pilpel   (09.15.11)
Israel was foolish and very naive to sell its techno-know-how to the turks as if they were they're long lost cousins of some kind. Israel shouldn't let Erdoggy do his grandstanding for that much longer, nor should the americans, nor the europeans. When comes down to it, Israel will have to take out those ships before Erdoggy even gets the chance to declare war.
79. Will the Turkish Navy deploy in Kurdistan?
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (09.15.11)
The outside enemy is a distraction from the true internal problems. The very large Kurdish minority in Turkey is not entirely happy with the status quo. Their struggle for a degree of autonomy and perhaps real independence is a major problem for the Erdogan regime. Is he using the Marmara issue to distract attention from this?
80. "Turkey can deploy navy in E. Med at moments notice"
Even Balance ,   Beit Yehoshua   (09.15.11)
It can deploy alright, but there's an awful lot of fresh air and open sea between them and Israel.
81. A Fuhrer in the making; islamic style
Roger   (09.15.11)
Erdogan, you must be a surplus or leftover from the dictators of the 30's / 40's. A " Bismark " would make quite an impression on the natives instead of your junky navy, marmaras included. Unfortunately , it was dispatched to the bottom of the sea. Sorry to tell you, but you are a full fledge idiot, Turkey's cross to bear to their sorrow.
82. Israel pr vs.Turkey
patrick a.hammel ,   zermatt,switzerland   (09.15.11)
Someone ought to create a facebook page where israelis can send their best wishes to the turkish people and to let them know that the friendship of israel towards turkey is for real and will last forever and that erdogan is only a passing by nightmare for both countries....and that everyone surely regrets the loss of life but that israelis are fed up with constant rockets send from gaza towards israeli civilians and therefore do not permit ships to send "unknown" stuff as long as gazans will be held hostage by terrorists who are also out to destroy the jewish state of israel...
83. ***Sarah***at 11...Have You ever heared
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (09.15.11)

84. Rabid Turkish leader needs meds despatately

87. to OT at 9
Bill ,   New York, USA   (09.15.11)
While I appreciate your sentiments about the whole thing being sad, one comment deserves response. The support for Israel in the US runs quite deep and has very little to do with Jewish money. Rather, as historians like Michael Oren and Walter Russell Mead have noted, it is based on the nature of American Christianity. One can like it or dislike it, but it is a real phenomenon. As for Jewish power in the US, let's just say that both proponents and opponents have had a shared interest in exaggerating its size.
88. For 37, time to molest another journalist
Bill ,   New York, USA   (09.15.11)
As far as I can tell, the only reason for your post is to say "Egypt big man, not looser like Zionist". There is little I can do to help you understand 20th century Egyptian military history. Welcome to the new Egypt. Gone is the corrupt Mubarak. Hello to the journalist-raping embassy-burning Egyptian mob. This simian behavior is not helping you. Before your mobs ran wild, there were tourism ads in the US, but those were careful not to show actual Egyptians who are not as appealing as the pyramids. Today, nobody bothers promoting Egyptian tourism here. Before long, it is much more likely that southern Europe will be invaded by starving Egyptians than Sinai will be invaded by the Egyptian Army. You will eat each other. However, it is never too late for you to join the human race. Why not give it a try?
89. OT - #9
Erich   (09.15.11)
While I don't deny that money influences US politics in the MIdeast, keep in mind that it works both ways. The US chooses to support one Arab tyrant over another depending on which one is more able and willing to supply it with oil. In addition, when a US administration is riddled with people who have financial interests in the Arab world (think of the administration of Bush I) it is more likely to be overtly antagonistic to Israel. The reality is that in general the American people (as opposed to its administration or State Dept.) support Israel because they either strategically see it as a natural, historic ally or because on religious grounds they understand the connection of the Jewish people to the Land of Israel. Anyhow, I hope you will maintain your relationship with your Jewish friends and colleagues. It seems that Mr. Erdogan will do whatever it takes to destroy the once-strong Turkish-Israeli alliance.
90. #37 myopic one
solomon ,   bklyn   (09.15.11)
An exception, if anything. Also; it's arrogance wasn't challenged. That's your own fantasy. The navy itself was challenged. That was 34 years ago. The navy is now better than their enemies. No arrogance involved. You want to see arrogance? Read your own posts. And look in a mirror.
