31. This is not free speech, this is ILLEGAL and...
Michael Cohen esq. ,   Jerusalem   (02.28.12)
the paper work has begun. Ynet, pull this within 1 hour or face lawsuit. This is incitement and hate speech which is not lawful in this country.
32. Right ideas, poorly written!
Nathan ,   Israel   (02.28.12)
What Mr. London tries to says, although he does it in a rather poor way, is that it is impossible any longer for the hard working public carry the weight of the ever growing Haradi parasite community. The Haradi community growth is based ever-growing budgets as a result of their disproportional strength in the parliament due to the system that allows them to become the balance, that eventually decide which party will rule Israel. In this absurd situation, Haredi community gets governmental budgets which allows them to prevent their children from learning any math, english or sciences, children that will never become productive adults. Haredi Youth go to Yeshivas, in order to avoid army service, and while in Yeshiva get monthly pension from the state. They merry young and bring a lot of children, getting children support and welfare Allowances from the state. all in all they become larger and larger community of parasites living of the Israeli working public. A centralist government could oppose their budget demands, reduce or freeze their disproportional chunk of the country yearly budget and thereof, due to lack of resources, their birthrate will reduce - I think that was what Yaron London tried to explain.
33. shame on the author and on ynet to publish this
David ,   Italy   (02.28.12)
dear Mr London, shame on you for the article and for what is on your mind! I suggest you, instead of writing how to kill, suppress ppl different from you, to learn the acceptance of different ppl. And if you think there are some behaviours that have to change from other ppl (I'm not referring to decrease birthrate, but to integrating in society), make a campaign to teach it to them, and in the same moment you want to teach, remember to learn from those ppl too. there is a lot to learn, A LOT
34. His future is previsible...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (02.28.12)
He might end up in an institute completely abandoned by friends and family, very lonely and miserable like all hateful old fools. No Haredi volunteers. I wish that he changes his ways ,so he can enjoy his old days like a sweet loving smiling elderly surrounded by caring friendly people.
35. Say no
Ed Codish ,   Pardessiya   (02.28.12)
A secular government that cuts funding to Haredi institutions that avoid military service would, without coercion, result in a drastic cut in the Haredi birthrate. The Haredi population would almost certainly decide, little by little, to work and serve.
36. European newspaper: Don't draft Jews. Reduce their birthrate
David ,   Modiin, Israel   (02.28.12)
Imagine our reaction... Well, this is history, Mr. London. And you found yourself on the wrong side of it. The funny thing is that by ZIONIST you mean SECULAR. It's not the same. In fact, only Haredim can and will prevent Arabs surpassing the Jews demographically. And by the way, why you don't write about the Arabs? Do they serve in IDF? Orthodox Jews have the same high birthrate in Brooklyn, Bnei Brak, Manchester, Vienna, Basel, Stamford Hill and Ashdod. Don't hope to lower it. As for the civil war, it was only once that leftist "mainstream" bombed a Jewish ship, the Altalena. Religius Jews do not fight other Jews.
37. Scarey that you are one of the Jewish people.
Elianana ,   Jerusalem   (02.28.12)
Shows how secular education produces produces a population ignorant of their own heritage without good values.
38. Landon is just exposing Liberal hypocrisy
(02.28.12)
39. this is a gentle wake up call
karen ,   hertzilya, israel   (02.28.12)
being from canada, and having lived in the united states...i have experienced democracy at its best and worst. i have lived here for a little over 2 years and i see a country bullied and coearst by the haradem. never have i seen a minority with such strength....a country is brought to the times of civil unrest in the us with a similar rosa parks situation, a shop owner cannot sell what they wish if the haradem move into the neighborhood, they should not be in the army, they should be at paying jobs to support their flocks of children, be free of government assistance, and if they choose to study can do so in their free time. they have become so accustomed to being taken care of that they do not know how to care for their own country...london is correct, very correct, and i for one am very proud of him for having the courage to speak out...i hope that all secular israeli's find their voices and help stop this minority ruling the majority...then and only then will israel truly feel like the promised land.
40. London & his leftist friends grow more despicable every day
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.28.12)
European Jew haters deliberately issued only a limited number of marriage licenses to Jews in order to restrict the Jewish population. (In those days, having children out of wedlock was unthinkable). London wants to inflict similar evils on fellow Jews. London, and his friends on the left, grow more despicable and desperate every day.
41. #27 and #29 Completeley correct!
Eric ,   Toronto   (02.28.12)
I fully agree with you and the writer. The people here who are up in arms do not understand what London is proposing. No one is talking here of taking violent or non-voluntary measures to curb the birth rate of the Haredims. It is suggested that the privileges that are currently given to Haredim (free money!) be withdrawn. Why should these people get more privileges than others? Is this true democracy? This suggestion makes complete sense. And once they get no more "free money" they will have to voluntarily cut the number of children they bring to this world. Makes perfect sense!
42. Haredim and others
Eliahu Feldman ,   Raanana, Israel   (02.28.12)
Equal rights are the counterpoint to equal obligations: The right to vote and decide the future of the country should only be granted for those who serve the country - army, national service, hospitals, day care centers, or else. Who does not serve the country should not be granted the right to vote. ALL the parcels of the population included. Serve=Vote Not serve+ no Vote
43. And, once again...
JDE ,   Boston, USA   (02.28.12)
The comments posted here by Haredim and their supporters among the Right Wing Orthodox demonstrate the utter futility of attempting to reason with them. Israel richly deserves everything that is and is about to happen to it.
44. I see what has his dander up...
shua ,   jerusalem   (02.28.12)
I actually understand his issue, even though I'm haredi. It is actually very simple. He is worried about the population growth because in his part of the country you are either LGBT (or however it goes) or sleeping with your neighbor's wife, hence using birth control. The population there is shrinking because of their own actions, so like all good "liberals", he needs to impose it on the religious, too. P.S. I am college educated, served in the army and hold a full time job. Believe me it is hard for a haredi even with good credentials to get a job in the secular world. They just don't want us around. How do you say Catch 22 in hebrew?
45. When haredim will be majority
cohen, Israel   (02.28.12)
this will be the end of the modern state of israel- no army, no technology, no culture, nothing. the zionism will be vanished and with it the state of israel. people who choose to attck london choose to be blind to the reality just around the corner.
46. Left/Right? Who cares
illbot ,   nyc, usa   (02.28.12)
Everyone is so quick with the "Hitler" usage. I didn't find anything "Hitler"esque about this article. I agree with the write as do millions of our brothers and sisters. No more free gifts to those that do not contribute. We can all use a little bit of neutrality and centrist thinking. Enough with the Right/Left wing non sense. Contribute to our society and society will contribute back to you. Shalom.
47. London compares Haredim to a "malignancy"?!
Smadar ,   Ariel, Israel   (02.28.12)
The only thing that is malign and cancerous here is the baseless hatred spread in this article. London is shamelessly using antisemitic terminology and it is regrettable that ynetnews stoops down to publish such a piece of incitement.
48. horrified!!!
Michael   (02.28.12)
The author uses the same metaphor as the Iranian President has used. At least the Iranian President says it about a different nation. Yet ,you say it about your own people! What moral compass are you using? Westerm Civiliztion underling foundation is based on JEWISH VALUES. Your additional comments are combination from the protocols of zion and czarist's mentality of the 1800s. We shouldn't be afraid of the hareidim, The Jewish Democratic state should be just as concerned about secular-fundamentalists as well religioud fundamentalists. If You may permit me to quote Moses. He said when entering the Land of Israel do not sway too left nor too right. It is a quote the people of Israel need to seriously think about.
49. recent article on 'Jewish Hezbollah'
Jesse Beckow ,   Tiveriyah, Israel   (02.28.12)
This is the most revolting article I have ever read by a Jew. Paolo Christiani was more open-minded than your op-ed. Are Chareidim all bums? Rotten body parts to cut off? Chilonim have no corruption? You should be truly ashamed of yourselves. Your op-ed reads a lot like Nazis saying they should sterilize those they don't approve of. What has happened to Israel to hate other Jews like this?
50. Every time a Leftist opens their mouth
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (02.28.12)
they contradict every value they claim to promote. Unfortunately, the world succumbs time and again to Leftist harassment and control. Take the most far out, most immoral Leftist idea you can muster, and you can be assured that is what the future holds.
51. #29 & negative eugenics
moishe pupik ,   haifa,israel   (02.28.12)
yaron london is precisely advocating negative eugenics, which was the cornerstone of nazi racial policy. it is astounding the incredible ignorance of these people. on the other hand I'm tired of excusing people who expound fascist or anti semitic positions . Ignorance is no excuse, you are what you advocate.
52. self hating jew
Judah ,   Baltimore,USA   (02.28.12)
Joseph Goebbels would be proud
53. Moron the best soldiers I served with were Bnei Yeshiva and
David ,   Israel   (02.28.12)
I'm unreligious !!! They were by far the hardest working, more intelligent and level headed soldiers I met While I agree that there are alot of negatives associated with absorbing all the Haredim, at the same time speaking from experience, the haredi combat soldiers are brilliant
54. Misunderstanding
Elan ,   New York, NY   (02.28.12)
I believe many of you have misconstrued the meaning behind this article. It is not "hate-mongering" nor is there anything anti-Semetic/Hitlereque about it. London is merely identifying the fact that Haredim drain the financial coffers of Israel, while contributing little to the country on a socio-economic level. Instead of applying their great knowledge toward our incredible state, they isolate themselves and tend to be viewed as extremists. This is a product of both their behavior and mainstream Israeli society's views toward them. Nonetheless, as a member of society, one must contribute to the society, rather than just accepting a free-ride. There are numerous pecuniary benefits bestowed upon the Haredi community in the form of education, tax-breaks and general support which comes from hardworking Israeli taxpayer money. Let us not miscontrue London. The purpose of the article is not to say we should actually curb the birthrate of Haredim by law, but rather stop providing Haredim so many benefits, which encourages them to have many children, not work and avoid military service knowing they will receive stipends from the government. Israel is a Jewish state and will always remain one but it is incumbent on us as a democratic nation to remain leaders an applying democracy with an even-hand. We need to encourage progress and not deter it.
55. To London and his supporters:
Israeli 2   (02.28.12)
You guys suggest to not feed the Haredim so that their lives will be more miserable and us such think twice about reproducing. Here? In Israel? In our JEWISH state? Pharaoh and his supporters as bad as they were could not stop the Israelites(us Jews) from multiplying and they too suggested to make our lives more difficult.
56. Now you know
Avi ,   Nyc   (02.28.12)
Why Israeli and American secular Jewish libs were so deafeningly quiet during the Shoah. They tacitly approved of it. But when it came time to protest any left wing cause they're there. Sometimes it's good Defoe people to show their true colors .
57. COEXIST MATE
JEWISH state ,   Israel   (02.28.12)
Your article has done nothing but incite hatred against haradis, many of whom are zionist and serve in elite units..are you forgetting this is a Jewish state..if we forget our roots we will turn into nothing! im not saying there isnt a problem with haradis but we should solve it humanely allowing time for both army and prayer (which we all need)
58. Imagine
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (02.28.12)
If a Jew made such a comment about Arabs they would already be in jail. If this is not incitement then there is no such thing in the entire world.
59. You say that like it's a problem
Edward Benjamin ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (02.28.12)
60. AM ECHAD:BIG ISRAEL,peru u'revu,freedom OF and FROM religion
