61. Funny, Germans wrote same thing about Jews..idiot!
shneerhere ,   Chicago   (02.28.12)
62. #45. London's hatemongering & your logic are indefensible.
Chaim ,   Israel   (02.28.12)
#45. London's hatemongering is indefensible. So is your logic. You claim that if Haredim become a majority, there will be no I.D.F. etc. Yet London's whole disgusting article is about his OPPOSITION to Haredim in the I.D.F. London doesn't want Haredim in the I.D.F.
63. A better way: Only IDF vets can vote
oftenatangent ,   Winnipeg Canada   (02.28.12)
I think Yaron has missed the boat. Why not simply mandate that only IDF veterans (and those that the IDF counts as exempt) are eligible to vote. Who would the IDF make exempt from service? The people that are already exempt from service, that is, some new olim, some women, those who are physically or mentally unable and so on. Jews could still "return", reside, live, study, etc. they just won't be able to steer the elections, OR THE FUNDING. I think he will find that if the vets vote to defund the welfare state, the number of non-servers living in Israel would drop almost immediately. They would see yordim and the smaller families he desires.
64. welfare & entitlements
yosef ,   williamsburg   (02.28.12)
What you en Israel are experiencing with the Charedi subsidies is what tax payers in America face with welfare recipients. I own nothing of value - at least in banks perception - and I rent. However, I refuse to fool myself into thinking that the majority of the taxes I pay go to the welfare programs for the less fortunate...America and Israel spend way more (probably 4 -1 ratio) on subsidizes for write-offs of the wealthy than on the poor. And I am a fescally conservative person but much of this ranting is on the wrong track.
65. "to establish purely haredi regiments"
Cameron ,   USA   (02.28.12)
Yes, that does have an ominous ring to it. Recipe for collapse and civil war indeed!
66. Limit grand children
Shlomo ,   Lakewood NJ, USA   (02.28.12)
Yaron: Would you confide in us? I would like to know how many generations back was your own family chareidi?, because, on way or another, it must be the case for you ; And what would be the case if that ancestor of yours would have orders from a Nazi or alike to limit the number of his grand - children , thereby stopping your own birth? Would you please comment about the scenario? thnx
67. London is thinking about the future and he's absolutely righ
Naomi ,   Tel Aviv   (02.28.12)
If the situation is getting out of hand now, imagine what it will be like in another 20 or 30 years. Eventually the haredim will be able to vote Israeli into a totalitarian state, and then there really will be a civil war here. It's obvious that the most advanced countries in the world are those that have already separated religion from state. So now it's our turn.
68. Mr. London you better start working on
Ariel ,   Toronto   (02.28.12)
secular population growth rather than reducing of haredi population. But your society doesn't want to live and to grow, doesn't want to give birth... because you are hating yourselves. Maximum you care about puppies after retierment. So better be quiet, turn left and give the main way to be used by new people, that want to live. Your time is over.
69. anti-semite
chaim Jacobson ,   melbourne ,australia   (02.29.12)
London comments are anti-smeitic . that he states the ills of all the problems are Jewish fundamentalism - I wonder how much he knows of Jewish thought and values . His comments express his ignorance and arrogance in making such uninformed comments
70. Absolutely right, the question is HOW?!
NU ,   Jerusalem   (02.29.12)
71. What a hate from charidim and their alikes !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.29.12)
But they NEVER asked themselve anything about egality ! We live in an APARTHEID state . One side those who work , contribute , feed the others ,defend the State . On the other side , a MINORITY that impose their lifestyle on everyone .A minority that wants all the rights , but don't give anything . Why should charidi , who enlist in the IDF be given a special treatement , favors that no NORMAL: soldier receives ? Why should their special requirements be fullfilled ? Why should their "students" be paid to learn unnecessary material , while the students at the univs , who will later at least contribute , and who have served in the IDF , have to pay ? This is a situation that can't continue . In South Africa the apartheid was abolished , it's time that it happens here too
72. 71 Charles,seems that hate is...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (02.29.12)
contagious. Ynet censored two harmless TBs i sent you in answer of this Haredi woman who left her husband. Our opinions are very different here, but getting hateful is not the solution. I can understand many of your claims with the exception of "unnecessary material".Again you don t know what you are talking about.Ignorance is not a shame, but unwilling to learn your own culture is. "Let him that would move the world, first move himself". Socrates. The grand- son of my sister came specially from our country of origin,to be part of the combat unit and earned the red beret. He is RELIGIOUS and will study in Technion Haifa. There are many like him .Please don t put all the orthodox in one basket. This should be beneath your level. Have a fine day.
73. Ora , it's not hate TRY # 3
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.29.12)
but something as "tant va la cruche a l'eau qu'elle se casse" . Those last months we have seen more and more acts by charidim , that's more than enough we can sustain . But not much reactions against it . You know that i always said that there are wonderfull charidim who contribute to all Israeli citizens , but those good ones have , sad to say , to pay for the bad ones . That was , is and will always be the case . I know that your TB's are not hatefull , but the contrary , it's not censorship i think , maybe they said enough ? Try again ? don't you copy ? Not a nice day , outside . An old tree has paid the price here .
74. MRI recommended
Dr.Help ,   ISRAEL   (02.29.12)
After an article like this my best recommendation is for the author to get an MRI of his brain to check for abnormalities
75. 73 Charles So the good secular..
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (02.29.12)
Jews have to pay for the bad ones? This is not the Tora way, sorry.
76. Ora , seculars are also put in the same pot
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (02.29.12)
when some criticise us . The tora way is YOUR way , not mine , sorry
77. 76 Charles,it is you that said...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (02.29.12)
that you practice the Tora s Veahavta et yereha kamoha. When others do crimes ,you wouldn t like to be accused of these crimes. So,you shouldn t do to others what you do not want them to do to you. That is Veahavta.........It is very easy to say i love my neighbour as my self, but you have to act accordingly ,if you want to be taken seriously.
78. Proud of my fellow ynet-ers
Yitz ,   Jerusalem   (02.29.12)
I'm used to Ynet bashing haredim at any opportunity, and am even used to talkbacks which justify it, so to see an unequivocal response against the hate is encouraging. Thank you all.
79. For those who don't see the bigotry here...
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (03.01.12)
Who are fortunately few. London claims that Haredim are all a malignant tumor. Dangerous if integrated into society. Dangerous if left without. Evil. Beyond redemption until they can be reduced in number and re-educated en masse. They are Jewish Hezbollah, the lot of them. He has essentially dehumanized his opponent from the very beginning. So we mustn't create anything more like the very successful Nahal Haredi brigade, which is fully part of the current military structure. We mustn't consider work environments for them in existing units, like the Shachar programs. No. We must keep them out. Whittle them down. Hate them behind walls. Because they're all equal to the most extreme member of their large and diverse community. They're all evil. Let's just start eugenics programs and take it from there, eh? It's not like they're human. Thank you, Mr. London. Now the fear-mongers among Haredim will have yet more reasons to say "They don't want us, they just want to force us to abandon our beliefs and become secular." People who truly want a better society, without any secular re-education or hate? People like, say, Gideon Sa'ar or Avigor Liberman? People who don't mar their arguments on fear and false superiority? I can respect them. Because they respect others in turn, even if they have differences. I cannot respect you, Mr. London. To an extent, I'm afraid of you. Thanks for making the arguments of the "full separation from secular society" bunch among the Haredim for them, by the way, especially in a period when we see much more cooperation and willingness to integrate than before, be it in the workforce or in the military. You're like that small group of criminal fanatics in Beit-Shemesh, ruining all you can if it means you can have some of that media spotlight.

mike north ,   el israelkarmi   (03.01.12)
Why don't you go back to the USA where life is so pleasurable without values. This is the promised land as u mentioned but promises of baseless love and values of our beloved religion protected for thousands of years till now where it is discarded like once only utensils for the hedonistic lifestyles of leftist ignorant self hating Jews who strive for Big Brother and other drivel spewed out of the square box in the salon-worshipped like the golden calf I came to this precious land as a Jew hungry to find my roots but my background was not ready for the onslaught that confronted me -the baseless hatred that Jews have for one another.I discovered the haredim in my neighbourhood through no coercion and found a Jew who practices chesed nd love for his fellow man, The media has gone bananas over a small incident in Bet Shemesh and on a bus line.Over a few crazies the entire charedi world has been unfairly denounced and unfairly criticized. Mr London should look into his past then think twice about commenting on moral values of others
81.  haredim and their growth
rogerlen ,   usa/israel   (03.01.12)
the haredim abide by a biblical principal. one that in bible times was relevant., but in todays standards has no justification if one cannot afford to support ones own family. but are supported by the state.in bible times they did not have families with 6,7,8 and more kids, infact the Rabbis of those days had at most 2 to 3 children, if any at all.
82. to #6 and others.
rogerlen ,   usa/israel   (03.01.12)
the haredim do nothing for israeli society. all they do is study torah, and while that is commendable; they do not contribute one thing to israeli society ;they are exempt from military service. they keep kosher, but do not keep the law. and with the temple gone, they never will. the torah states if one breaks one commandment one breaks them all. and just how and why would a learned rabbi add to the torah when a part of the commandments forbade such a thing. {no temple sacrifice.} no where in the torah does it state if you cannot sacrifice at the temple you can do {such and such in its stead.} that is too close to take a chance on.yet they blindly trust their rabbis. much like catholics who over the years had been told that they would not understand the original writings so let the priests read it.
83. HAREDIM
PAUL GUREVICH ,   NEW YORK   (03.01.12)
THE ANSWER IS:
84. HAREDIM
PAUL GUREVICH ,   NEW TORK   (03.01.12)
THE ANSWER IS: RESETTLE ALL HAREDIM IN EAST JERUSALEM, RESETTLE ALL ISRAELI ARABS IN THE WEST BANK, AND GIVE IT ALL TO THE ARABS AS PART OF A PEACE SETTLEMENT. LOL
85. Duh, This Is All A Joke!
peter ,   omaha, nebrask   (03.01.12)
it doesn't seem that any of you who know who this man is. he is an israeli tv personality who constantly interviews strange poeple, and in turn does and says strange things. Knowing him, he is laughin his 455 off at the amount of comments his witless blabber generated. it doesn't take anything; but to read his piece, to realize that it is a nonsensical piece, which its intent is - obviously - , to have a good laugh at the seriousness of which people are taking his thoughts.
86. Ora , many put all the seculars in the same pot
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (03.01.12)
When you say something against charidim , you're an antisemite , a self hating Jew . So for the small number of those charidim who are fine people , there is a majority that is against Israel , but not against taking our money . Those kind of "people" are NOT in my "re'echa" . Sad to say the majority does NOT behave or talk as you do . Others want only rights for them , not for the other side , this because they allegedly serve the country , but most likelyt only for it's advantages .
87. Leftist Manifesto
Esser Agaroth ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (03.01.12)
You do not even have to look too closely to see the secular, Leftist manifesto spelled out: Eliminate Torah, eliminate true Jewish identity, eliminate any hopes of having true, Jewish sovereignty over the Land of Israel.
88. Dear Karen from Hertzilya
Yoel Ben-Avraham ,   Shilo   (03.03.12)
I guess it is difficult to take the long view, to see things in terms of generations instead of sound-bites. I also suppose that you were not here during the 50's & 60's when the entire power of the then Socialist State of Israel was anti-religious and definitely anti-Charedi. What would you expect of a minority (still less than 15%) when faced with such systematic institutionalized hatred. All this in light of the tremendous loss the Jewish People experienced in terms of institutions and scholars just one generation earlier. I understand why the Torah world saw the necessity of compensating for the loss suffered in WWII, I also see already the pendulum gradually swinging back toward a more balanced reality of learners & workers (Baalei Batim) that together create a balanced sound society that appreciates both the pragmatic realities as well as aspiring to realize Torah values. Have a little faith and a little patience and read the signs and watch for the trends - they are there IF you are open minded.
89. Shameful!
Sedoni ,   S   (03.20.12)
"Comments containing incitement, slander, racist slurs and inappropriate language deemed to violate our terms of use won't be published. " It sounds like a kind of joke if you have read the article.
