61. Response
Michelle ,   Santiago, chile   (03.02.12)
Not everyone in Chile is that way. Yes, off course there are exceptions, but, Israelis are known from before-hand to be rude, as I have seen it myself. And that is part of what leads to antisemitism. People in Chile will generalize, as people in most of the world will. So israelis, you are welcomed in to our country, but respect it as you wish tourists to respect yours.
62. And a last comment
Keren ,   IL-BR   (03.02.12)
Even if some Israeli boys and girls don't know how to behave more adaptively abroad, this is not a matter to be discussed in a "tourist guide"let alone in a fifth low category magazine in Chile.Mind you ,in Chile!!!! Our people is made up of many kinds of people and that must be respected and dealt individualy and not as "israelis"(Jews, they mean!)
63. To#21 I am a Peruvian...& your comment is not true
EST ,   Miami, USA   (03.02.12)
There are tourists that could learn better manners and there are nice tourists...from all countries, Israelies are not to be singled out just because they are like anyone else...Sorry, you are way off target on this one.And yes, I have met many Israelis travelling in Peru....Lived in Costa Rica for a few years...same thing applies...Israeli backpackers I met were very nice young people...Stop enabling anti-Israelis to spread their viciousness.
64. Boycot Lonely Planet..it is obvious they have a hidden agend
EST ,   Miami USA   (03.02.12)
Buy one of the several other tourist guides that are high quality and not anti-Israeli/anti-Jewish...I for one have found Rick Steve's tourist guides the best...use them EVERY year...much better than Lonely Planet and you won't find offensive comments against any one in them...they are whatthey say they are: a tourist guide...not a disseminator of prejudice.
65. Boycott Chile
veronique ,   israel   (03.02.12)
If the young Israeli tourists fresh out of the army boycott Chile, I think that the country will change its tune very quickly as these young people spend a lot of money over there!
66. Lonely Planet is very biased against Israel anyway
Israeli grandma   (03.02.12)
In their current report on the "West Bank" they declare that the Ibrahami Mosque in Hebron is 3,000 years old. This is the Cave of the Jewish Patriarchs, over which Herod built a fine building, and over which the Byzantines built a church, and on top of this was added the current Mosque. Islam was invented only about 7centuries ago. Also Lonely Planet spends more time mentioning the Israeli Security Barrier near Bethlehem than the tourist sites in that town. It refers to Rachel's tomb, another very ancient Jewish religious site, as a tomb of Rachel the "prophet". Rachel was a founding Jewish mother, but the current PA propaganda is declaring that Rachel Tomb is the tomb of a Arab called Bilal. So judge for yourself!
67. In most countries foreigners are just foreigners.
rebecca ,   Modiin   (03.02.12)
Mostly they cant distinguish one from the other. So I do think there is something else behind this story. That being said, Israelis are often noisy and all the other stuff, but then as Jews we notice it more because we are affiliated to them, and we only see the loud ones, not the average normal tourist who just happens to be Israeli.
68. nope
jesse ,   chile   (03.02.12)
actually, no they dont. this is the problem. the israelis refuse to pay for anything, even the incredibly cheap bus services.
69. enough!
israeli ,   israel, haifa   (03.02.12)
i get how bad israeli are abroad i know i have seen us... and i know how easily pepole a bad reputation for themselfs... but my biggest problem is the fact that no matter where i go i seem to be a commercial to one country or a nother, its about time that at the year 2012 we should bu bigger then seeing pepole as countreys.... and let pepole be pepole and as always some will be rude and some will be kind... so if you cant judge a person for who he is and not where he is from maybe you should reconsider the whole judging buisness cause your not very good at it.
70. try vacationing in Israel
Howard ,   tel aviv israel   (03.02.12)
go to any hotel in Eilat during any holiday in Israel and see how the local Israelis behave - horrible like it is their own private hotel - no respect for anyone including the other Israeli. Loud, dirty, cutting the lines, smoking where not allowed, sneaking unpaid guests into room and into dinning rooms. No surprise that they also behave rudely in other countries.
71. I find this social phonomen of bad behavior
Edithann ,   USA   (03.03.12)
very interesting...Didn't they have parents? Weren't they taught to behave? I don't know of any other people who act like they, and have a world wide reputation for being feral... TATA
72. just watch netanyahoo address the UN
israeli ,   haifa   (03.03.12)
and you will see the chutzpa in all israelis
73. #58 Ynet generalizes entire countries and continents, take
Gaffney ,   Israel /Buenos Aires   (03.03.12)
what you give back and be able to take it back.
74. Proof that there is room for...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (03.06.12)
improvement at State school education. Introducing Tora might resolve the problem.
75. Anti-semitism
Robert ,   orlando USA   (07.10.12)
I love how the trite anti-semitism comes out when talking about the the behavior of Israelis. American Jews are known to be obnoxious as Israelis, but you seem to want to make it a Jewish thing which it is not. American Jews also are appalled by Israelis rude and arrogant behavior and how it is harming Israel's image.
76. Im a recepcionist at a famous Hostel
Gonzalo ,   La Paz   (09.23.12)
and the only thing I have to say about Israeli bagpackers and tourists is that IS TRUE! They are what you guys say. Greedy, annoying, blood suckers if you ask me. when i got hired in this Hostel they warned me about Israeli tourists and when I first met them I sadly found out that they are the most annoying tourists in my country, I try to avoid them.
77. #25
Alan ,   London   (11.09.12)
You are one sick bigot.
78. What matters is the reputation!
Roman ,   Cusco, Peru   (12.06.12)
Unfortunately young Israeli tourist have very bad reputation around the world…
79. Firsthand experience
Esther ,   D.C., USA   (12.07.12)
My own experience with orthodox in D.C. (on the mall) was horrific - they were slovenly, loud, brazenly cursing anyone who even walked near them, it was disgusting. I felt sorry for their wives having to put up with it, until I heard what the wives were saying - they were just as bad, just quieter. And what they were saying (about goyim, you know how no one else is really "human" except us) was frightening in the chutzpah to say it in front of everyone, loudly and causing a big scene. By their vile behaviour, everyone had to walk around them in a wide berth (to avoid being spit upon), which is exactly what they wanted (and said so loudly). Disgusting. For anyone who compares travellers from other countries - the article and the subject isn't about anyone else- it's about Israelis; and anyone who trots out the pathetic "anti-semitism" trope, drop the crap. Take responsibility for your OWN behaviour, your OWN children and your OWN country. Only then will you have any ground to cry about the accurate but uncomfortable perception around the world how rude Israeli travellers are. And I'm disappointed that Sarah B. hasn't advocated the Sampson option on Chile yet. Why keep me waiting!?!?! :)
80. Israeli tourists
Ted ,   Surrey, Canada   (12.07.12)
My wife and I some years ago were in the Galapagos and found ourselves with Israeli youth (much younger than ourselves). They were respectful and considerate and went out of their way to help us when we encountered difficulties. I feel it only right to state our experience in view of some of the comments. Nevertheless, I would not want to do anything to discourage healty national introspection, and I can quite believe that young people can be rude and inconsiderate. I have also heard negative comments about Israeli manners, and from a very pro-Jewish friend encountered them.
81. Israeli Tourist Obnoxious Behavior
G. Tag ,   Salem, Oregon   (01.08.14)
I've just been in the town of Pai, Thailand. I'd heard stories about young Israeli tourist behavior but always discounted them. But, this morning, as I sat in a cafe, I watched five young Israeli guys at a cafe across the street, shouting and harassing every woman, or group of women that came by, and making complete, loud, obnoxious jerks of themselves. I finally left in disgust. I felt sorry for the owner of the small cafe where they were sitting. I'm sure the Thais were appalled.
82. To # 11
Vlad ,   Chile   (03.08.14)
Civilized? People that have people in Gaza like dogs? People that everytime are accused of their crimes against children in Palestina accused you of anti-semitism? Pfff I have bagpacked a lot in my beloved Latinamerica with friends of the US, France, Germany, Argentinians, etc, in every place is the same with Israelis, 3 years for the army NONE for education and respect!
83. To # 25
Vlad ,   Chile   (03.08.14)
So that's the reason that Israeli travellers need to behave like real asshole with everyone and don't respecting the local people... Pfff... Please, don't come to Latinamerica, you are going just to give us more reasons to don't like Israelis (and I say Israelis...I have Jewish friends)
84. Awful Israeli travellers
Baz ,   Wellington NZ   (04.16.14)
Love the "who me" attitude here, We never did nuthin'. It sticks out like a sore thumb. Take it on board and behave you little brats!!!!.
85. Israeli travelers
Cesar ,   Antigua Guatemala   (04.15.17)
Sadly I found about this the hard way: working at a youth hostel for a couple of months, every time somebody was rude, demanding or else they were Israelites or Italians, and it's a fact in the industry, saddly. Remember Israelites not jews, I have jewish background my self so nothing personal, just the sad truth.
86. Israeli tourists - the worst
Vania ,   Los Angeles, CA, USA   (03.09.18)
I am so shocked and annoyed by Israeli tourists during my South America trip. I talked to local people about this ( firm surf instructors to tour guides , hospitality people , local people ...) and they all told me the same - rude, disrespectful and arrogant ! I never even write any of negative comments anywhere , I was thought that if I don’t have anything positive to say not to say anything but the level of irritation reached the max! I have so many bad examples that it will take a long time to elaborate and I traveled to over 50 countries myself but Israeli government should really do something about this issue as I came to South America to explore beautiful people and cultures not to deal with these arrogant, rude and disrespectful young people and no, sorry but but end of military service isn’t any excuse ...
87. Tourist
Serge ,   Barcalona   (10.29.18)
Sorry but israelien tourist are often worse than others this has nothing to do with racism but with their behaviour. I work in a hotel restaurant and they just are without respect, arrogant and rude. What makes it so difficult to show some respect for people. If you want to see that as racism than you are blind.
