1. This needs to stop!!!!
Mitchell Cohen ,   Gush Etzion, Israel   (04.04.12)
We need to stop asking America for money? They need the money for their own citizens. Our leaders need to work on being more independent. This is NOT to say I don't value America as an ally, but this running to them asking them for money for this and money for that has to stop and now!!!!

Don't you think that the question is better left to the American taxpayers and their elected representatives in Congress?
3. actually it's the american congress that offered

4. Asking for money
Nadya ,   California, U.S.   (04.04.12)
It's very disturbing to read that you're asking America for more money. If you need money, do you go to a friend you know is having financial difficulties themselves? Of course not. You should be going to China or another BRIC country and ask them. It seems that you're blackmailing America by constantly threatening to attack Iran so we'll bow to your wishes. And don't come up with your usual BS about providing work for Americans.
5. Poor Americans tax payers!
Ziad Palestine ,   Canada   (04.04.12)
I think Americans wont tolerate this any more! ENOUGH!
6. As a taxpayer, I'm just wondering if the systems themselves
Henry from New York ,   USA   (04.04.12)
are a worthwhile investment. I'm all for defending Israel and keeping our position in the Middle East secure (the symbiotic relationship); but are we putting cash towards something that protects Israel and our interests or a lemon? Anyone with relatively little bias that can answer this for me?
7. It surely must depend on how many missiles are fired at us
exUK ,   Tel Aviv   (04.04.12)
As we have seen already, some have been intercepted, but some got through. How many can one system cope with at once. And is it like a gun that has ti be reloaded? And if so how long would that take? I frankly suspect that there MUST be a limit to how many missiles it could cope with at any one time

Israel has the technology to build this on their own. Quit tugging on Uncle Sam's cape for yet another free ride.
15. This Money needs to go to Americans
David ,   San Francisco   (04.04.12)
700 million is a lot of money for any nation to dish out, especially to one which already receives over 3 billion a year. Lets cut the bs, this "special" relationship is about nothing more than AIPAC paying off congress. If not for AIPAC none of this bs would be going on. if Israel has such a great economy, time to cut the cord on our 51st state. Go ask England, France or China. There is a reason why articles like this will never be published in major American news outlets- they know most Americans wouldn't support it. And Israel is only asking now because they know Obama has an election coming up, so he is more likely to endorse the idea.

I wouldn't worry too much. As polls continue to show, Israel is EXTREMELY popular with American taxpayers and voters. On the other hand, American taxpayers and voters do not care very much for the violent ersatz "Palestinian" terrorist rabble, and really do not want to throw any more money down that stinking cesspool that is the ersatz "Palestine" Authority. Do you think that the American people have forgotten the pictures of Jews in Israel queuing for hours to donate blood on September 11, 2001? Do you think that the American people have forgotten the rabid and wild celebrations in the West Bank and in Gaza on September 11, 2001? Well, the American people remember it all quite well. Face it: nobody really likes you. Not even your brother Arabs can stand you. Foreign governments may pay you lip service because of the large, unruly Arab and Moslem populations in their countries, but don't forget what happened to the ersatz "Palestinians" at the United Nations last fall, and the ICC ruling issued just yesterday? Come to think of it, the Canadian taxpayers and voters are not all that fond of the ersatz "Palestinians," either. Are you getting the message? Let me tell you it in simple terms: The ersatz "Palestinians" have far fewer friends than they thought. The State of Israel has considerably more friends than the ersatz "Palestinians" realize. To reprise: pretty much no one can stand you.
17. Israel asking for money? BEGGING for like it
Disgusted ,   US   (04.04.12)
you bash the US, brag on this very site about the "greatness" of israel in every respect and yet you dare beg for more?! Print your own, we don't care! FACE IT ONCE AND FOR ALL: WITHOUT THE US, NO ISRAEL"-get it? $$$$ for Americans, NOT one red cent for israel.

21. If Jews would obey G-d we wouldn't need any Iron Dome.......
Ahhh the LESSON ,   Israel   (04.04.12)
Instead our government spits in His face and rejects His land and Torah.... So He says... do it your way. See if you have enough money and strength... and after all that fails, if you are still alive, then you will then come to ME for protection. It would be wise to do it this way from the start... but some (many) of us will have to learn things the hard way.
22. henry,
(04.04.12)
i know you support israel's security. the iron dome performed miracles last month and saved many jewish lives in israel....as well as arab life because those missiles from gaza do not distinguish between arabs and jews. the iron dome is needed in more places and more inside the country because the islamic scum in gaza is getting missiles that can reach israel's commercial centers.
23. 15
(04.04.12)
america protecting israeli citizens in israel is in america's best interest especially when none of american soldiers ever died for israel and never did on the battle field. this support for israel is good for the usa because it protects american foothold in the middle east against russia and also keeps usa foot hold and interests in the mid east for oil, etc.. understand this?

Remember back ten years before the 1991 Gulf War, when Israel destroyed the Osirac reactor in Baghdad? Much to the dismay of the United States, I might add. Severe sanctions were imposed upon Israel as a result. Well, then came the Gulf War, and the United States did not have to face a nuclear Iraq. Think of all the American servicemen and women that did NOT come home in body bags and SHOW A LITTLE GRATITUDE. Better still -- why does the United States continue to fund such anti-American countries like Pakistan ($3 billion per year) and Egypt ($3.8 billion per year)? Do you particularly enjoy the sight of American flags being burned and demonstraters screaming "Death to America?" Why is American continuing to pour billions of dollars into Iraq? Seven hundred million dollars is NOTHING compared to what the United States provides to former Soviet Republics, hostile Latin American countries and the Arab and Moslem world. At least with Israel, the United States enjoys a rich return on its investment. What has Egypt or Pakistan done for the United States lately? Or, for that matter, ever? (In the case of Pakistan, providing a safe haven for Osama bin Laden -- may his name be cursed throughout eternity -- for a decade does not count.
