61. very good !
Al   (06.20.12)
Who needs to read such a crap as there is plenty of good books aviaiable ? She should try sell it to camels.
62. this woman used her daughter as a political prop
Golan ,   modiin   (06.20.12)
Walker and her daughter became estranged. Rebecca felt herself to be more of "a political symbol... than a cherished daughter". with such an evil person, it is no surprise she takes the Baathist flag (the so called Palestinian or PLO flag) and wave it.
63. Israel
Tom ,   Toronto   (06.20.12)
There has been many times that the Jews had a Jewish homeland and never ever has there been a Palestinian one . Your sense and knowledge of history has blinders . Often is the way of hate . Very Sad.
64. Alice Walker rejects Israeli translation
Stuart Cornberg ,   B'ham UK   (06.20.12)
The apartheid is by her. She should want everyone to read her story so that it might make them change their views. She obviously is prejudiced, but she can be because her skin is dark. I am for everyone reading anything in the hope that through this they will become more tolerant, shame she does not think alike.
65. A Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Waste
emanon ,   USA   (06.20.12)
Such a pitiful waste of brain-power and talent. How can such an otherwise intelligent person subscribe to such patently false beliefs? If Israel indeed ruled the arab peoples in Gaza, would the terrorstinians there be launching missiles into Israel at Israeli civilians (see today’s <2012-06-20> headlines for example)? If Israel were indeed following an apartheid policy regarding arab people, would Israel continue to treat the numerous people, sworn to destroy Israel, at Israeli hospitals and give them first-rate medical care as Israel’s doctors and hospitals have done time and time again? As one of her own people said “You are either part of the solution or part of the problem”. She is part of the problem, spreading venomous arab propaganda and other lies.
66. Eloquently humanized?
Diane ,   USA   (06.20.12)
I haven't read the book, but considering her stance on the 'holy land" (which is God/Jesus of the Judeo/ Christian faith(I know most Jews deny Jesus as the messiah) I seriously doubt the substance of her book if she can't get this right- the land is Israel's. I'll take God's word over her novel....I only cringe when I think of all the Israeli bashers when they stand before God..........
67. another evil human getting on the anti-Israel bandwagon
k ,   US   (06.20.12)
all these evil people who disguise themselves as "peace activists" all are on the anti- Israel bandwagon Even her own daughter hates her, look at the skeletons in these anti-Israel peoples closets, they almost always have some dark evilness in them
68. Didn't waste my money on her trash!
Jake Stone ,   USA   (06.20.12)
Typical Obama voter!
69. I don't understand her logic...
(06.20.12)
she objects to certain matters of Israel's politics. Fine. But what has that got to do with her book being published for the citizens of Israel. Sounds like she has something against Israelis. Jews should boycott her book.
70. Please stop!
Avishai ,   Tel Aviv   (06.20.12)
Please stop telling her to come to Israel. We don't want her here!
71. #7 Avramele, #41 Keren
Stan ,   Israel   (06.20.12)
I am only addressing the two of you because the rest seem to be the usual lot of hotheads who it's not worth wasting time on. I ask myself all the time, day and night , what can we do to help ensure that Israel will continue to exist. If you support the continued occupation of Yosh, or you believe that there won't be peace talks in the near future because of the Pals, then try to foresee the results. By this I mean external results, because just as the Blacks in South Africa could not remove the White Regime by force so here the Palestinians cannot defeat Israel by force. We see now the beginnings of a boycott movement. I believe it will grow (as was the case with SA) What can we do to stop these boycotts from increasing? What is causing the great increase in Anti-Semitism in Europe as well as in other parts of the world? Maybe you believe like the "others" that you can sit back and say "THEY CAN GO TO HELL"?
72. Like it or not
Sarah B (No not her)   (06.20.12)
It is her book and if she doesn't want it translated into Hebrew there is nothing we can do about it. Other than pressure our government to establish a Palestinian State
73. #60
Sarah B (No not her)   (06.20.12)
Do the maths 6 million Jews in Israel, 12 million in the US, 300,000 in the UK 1 million in france. Maybe a total of 25 million Jews around the world. 1 billion Moslems just to start. Think you might be on to something, most non Israeli Jews speak the language of the country they were born in, The Color Purple is required reading in the US thanks to Oprah Winfrey. Pising off 6 million potential readers opens up a much larger market, and those 6 million would probably not read it anyway and if they did more likely read it in English
74. #1 graczek
solomon ,   bklyn   (06.20.12)
Yet another of your ridiculous posts. Ah well, birds of a feather...
75. Walker
David Patterson ,   New York, N.Y   (06.20.12)
Walker should know that the "so called subjected Palestinians" are the most liberated Muslims in the Arab world.
76. Stan:#71
emanon ,   USA   (06.20.12)
Which side are you on, for Israel or for an arab dominated world caliphate? You sound more like the second choice. (I almost said "latter choice" but I did not want to confuse you.)
77. Nice, Considering She Supports the Rockets Too
Dallas ,   Canada   (06.20.12)
Walker should engage her brain to encourage good, not evil in the world. Pulitzer's prize is likewise and again associated with the dark side.
78. Color it Red
ik ,   USA   (06.20.12)
I guess Walker also refuses to accept the funds from her success' obtained by assistance she received from all the Hollywood and Broadway Jewish producers, screenwriters, etc. without which her "Purple" boxoffice color would only be "Red".
79. No. 71 - Stan
Lauren ,   Israel   (06.20.12)
I must have missed your point. Are you perhaps implying that WE the Israelis and Jews everywhere are the problem? And by comparing the apartheid in South Africa to Israelis and the Palestinians, are you also implying that we are, in fact, an apartheid state? The fact that you use the word "occupation" when referring to Yehuda and Shomron is probably the answer I am looking for. Oh and by the way - I am not a right-wing hothead or an extremist - just and Israeli Jew who does not accept anti Semitism disguised as humanitarianism. So ask yourself - what can you do to insure that anti Semitics will not further demonize my country. Because I get the feeling that you don't "get it". Alice Walker and her ilk from the BDS are Jew haters, and if you are one brother - they hate you too. You might become a useful idiot like many leftists do, but in the end, you are only so much Jewish garbage for them. Please correct me if I am wrong.
80. Sad, really
Annie ,   Tel Aviv   (06.20.12)
She thinks she's doing the right thing - being righteous and fighting injustice. What she's really doing is perpetuating her own ignorance and in fact, the conflict. How come she has never been to Israel to hear firsthand the other side of the story??? What kind of person can deny the existence of two sides and not strive to educate themselves fully to a situation they speak and act so strongly on? i just dont get that coming from an educated, liberal woman nowadays. How sad.
81. Not a good book.
Gigi ,   US   (06.20.12)
Good it's not translated into hebrew. Didn't like it and probably wouldn't have sold without the lesbian content.
82. #43 Elizabeth, Graczek claims religion as his cause.
Roman ,   Lod, Israel   (06.20.12)
Specifically, he believes that true Christianity means that the Jews must be punished and cannot return to the Holy Land. He has repeated this on a regular basis - his is the *old* Christianity of Europe. The one that made sure the Jews suffered, and excused itself by divine decree.
83. Apartheid? Really???
Avishai ,   Tel Aviv   (06.20.12)
When I speak of 'Arabs', I am referring to Muslim, Christian, Druze and Beduin Arabs. We have Arab ministers in our Parliament. We have Arabs in our military, universities (students and faculty), hospitals (patients, doctors, nurses, technicians and faculty). They are business owners and property owners. We work together and play together. We share the same buses, restaurants, beaches and night clubs. Anyone that calls this apartheid obviously has no understanding of what apartheid means. All of this can easily be checked on-line.
84. # 72
Birdi ,   Israel   (06.20.12)
Your true colours have just emerged. You dont belong on this forum. Go post your racist post on the ''Gaza Gazette''
85. #72 Sarah B
Tahl   (06.21.12)
"OUR government"? You mean to tell me that I share my country with a self-hating defeatist like you? What a great shame. But alas, it's a free country.
86. Alice who?
KB ,   US   (06.21.12)
Ohhh...I remember her and the movie! Was it the late 70's early 80's? It surprises me with such deep research on the black struggle in the U.S., she lacks the depth of thought to research; that there is no such thing as a palestinian, they are Edomites! Activist my eye...she is a culturalist = One who hops on the bandwagon to suit the moment.
87. Alice Walker and Palestinians she loves
Violet ,   Denver CO   (06.21.12)
There are no palestinians per se. They are Arabs displaced by their own countries who had an opportunity to not be vagrants or pillagers but they refused an agreement. Don't worry, Alice, I am sure no Israeli wants to buy your ignorant book anyway. I know I don't.
88. Alice in Wonderland
Golani ,   Vineland, USA/Israel   (06.21.12)
Alice must be in Wonderland because she have no concept of reality. If her idea of apartheid is one in which as others stated has equal rights for all, Jews and Arabs shop in the same malls, get the same medical treatment, and today an Arab Israeli was promoted to run and Israeli college, then she is plain nuts. Her ugly words do not deserve to be translated into the biblical language.
89. @ Stan: occupations and boycotts
Avramele   (06.21.12)
To paraphrase Ben Gurion, I oppose BDS as if there is no occupation and oppose the occupation as if there is no BDS campaign. I am a Jew, a Zionist and a leftist who can abandon neither his people nor his principles. I also believe that talkbacks are there for dialog not name calling.
90. What garbage. I wouldnt read it if you paid me for it.
Rio ,   New York   (06.21.12)
