31. It's only thanks to learning Torah that IDF is protected
Allan ,   PT   (06.25.12)
If the Jews will join the army - an immoral army like this - how can you expect protection from Above?
32. #19 What you saw was POLICE VIOLENCE
Allan ,   PT   (06.25.12)
Haredi protests are never violent. During those peaceful protests police come and beat up anyone they find. If there are lots of Rabbis, like this morning, the police wouldn't dare disturb it like they like to do. You don't live in Israel, you don't know the truth.
33. # 22 ORA OF JERUSALEM
Ginette ,   Canada   (06.25.12)
I like your style, non-violent or abusive but very to the point!! There are some Haredim in the army but mostly girls (the stronger sex?). They work and serve in non-combatant ways. Why can't their male counterpart do the same? Beats me! It’s not like the country will put them in the front lines. Have a good day everyone.
34. #31 No its tinakabell and her magic wand
Haim ,   TA   (06.25.12)
This so called imoral army as you put it , defends this country, you are an insult to all those who died in the line of duty defending this country so the likes of you and your ilk can live here in relative peace. You should be ashamed of yourself.
35. #31 I'll do without protection from above
PaulZion ,   Israel   (06.25.12)
and take protection on the ground any day. You don't fool us and don't fool yoourselves that you are doing us such a great service by praying and learning Torah. For all the good your prayers do in the real world, I can say that I protect Israel too, because I brush my teeth every day.
36. Haredim riot against enlisting in IDF
Hidalgo ,   Ramat Hasharon   (06.25.12)
Despite the burning of trash bins and other acts, we don't see police handling them like they did in tel aviv. They are treated with silk gloves, busha!
37. King David never would have accepted this attitude...
Shimon ,   Israel   (06.25.12)
And neither will the Moshiach But you have to understand. They are scared. They have a right to be. The army has NEVER respected religious soldiers and this is the armies fault. If the government wants them to serve there must be mutual respect and the system bust not try to turn them into unkosher goyim like most of the rest of the IDF.
38. Round them ALL up and stick them in the army
Talula ,   Israel   (06.25.12)
If they have time to demonstrate, then they have time to serve. What a bunch of disgusting cowards they are. Feh! They should be treated the same as any other 18 year old who refuses to serve in the army. God I hate them so much.
39. #1 and #20, you tell me
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (06.25.12)
Why the anger at the Haredim? What about draft dodger Da phn e Le ef? Do you also condemn her and demand she leave the country? Or is this just about hating Haredim?
40. The issue goes beyond the IDF....
Sailor ,   USA   (06.25.12)
With the ultra-high birth rates of the Haredim, and the fact that they do not work in order to study Torah full time, the societal model of Israel is not sustainable long-term. Fewer and fewer working citizens of Israel will not be able to afford to economically support the growing population of ultra-orthodox who are on welfare. Haredim do not educate their children to be employable, so the problem perpetuates itself into future generations. A very selfish attitude.......
41. History lesson LOL
R Narz ,   Toronto   (06.25.12)
Before Waterloo the Duke of Wellington inspected his troops; when asked what he thought, replied: I don't know if they'll scare the enemy, but they sure scare me. Same here, the thought of all those people in the photos actually carrying weapons scares me a bit.
42. #22Ora-without trying to be smug :if anything, then a sepa-
tom ,   tel aviv   (06.25.12)
rate country is the solution. But it's not. So it will take generations of patient re-schooling (some may call it brainwashing) of the haredi masses, to return a semblance of civil understanding and normalcy among these people. It is always hard to push the Genie back into the bottle. This has been going on for too long and now, suddenly everybody wants an instant solution to a long-brewing problem. It never is that easy, not with Islam, not with Judaism.
43. #39 at least Daphnee Leef is doing something
(06.25.12)
For the Israeli society not like those black shmocks
44. Charles
Jo Jo ,   London   (06.25.12)
A few times now, it seems Ynet do not post talkbacks after the page is a few days old. I have therefore not been able to add my respose to you. Let me add the last one here: Tel Aviv bylaws state that eateries must close on Sabbath. So not only do you flout Jewish law, you also blatantly ignore Israeli law. Even if Israeli law did prohibited car driving on Sabbath – you would ignore it anyway, so don’t you come telling me about laws or no laws. Your latest rant which talks of your gastronomic excesses revolts me. You have no shame. You have forsaken your heritage and therefore do not deserve to be called a Jew. Stop defiling our Holyland. You and your kind brought disaster upon our nation 60 years ago in Germany, why do you persist in Israel? Soon all Jews will be kicked out for your vile and rebellious behavior against the Torah. Rabbi Frumkin is surely rolling in his grave knowing that sinful people like you inhabit the town he founded. No wonder the orthodox were against Zionism – look what has been implanted in our sacred land – thousands of Yiddish and Hebrew speaking goyim. Nothing to celebrate. Yet it is the identifiable Orthodox Jews in the diaspora like me who are mainly targeted by the terrorists and Israel haters. Look what we have had to suffer because of arrogant secular people like you. We have nothing to thank you for. Eat your fill of pork and shrimps. I hope you choke on it. You talk about the “true” world. You just wait till you get there - Olam ha’emmes. You’re in for a shock. Enjoy it while it lasts.
45. #39 Israeli Israeli oh pah-lease
Haim ,   TA   (06.25.12)
Oh thats pathetic, go for one individual while ignoring the fact that most of the harideem dont serve a tall, shall i start the list of names ? I know i could get the ficticious ones the yeshivot use to claim money for ficticious students, game over buddy !
46. #14
shua ,   jerusalem   (06.25.12)
It says in parshat mishpatim "midvar sheker tirchak". There is and never will be nothing jewish about the idf. Where does it say in the torah that it is a sin not to serve in an irreligious army who is more willing to accomadate pride for gay soldiers but not to respect a few national religious officers right to follow a halacha in JEWISH law (if you say it doesn't exsist look in even haezer 21.1) and punish them for it! Go bash the harediim all you want,. Until you start bashing the elitists, who don't actually have a half baked reason for not serving. Whether or not you like it at least the harediim think they are help in protection by following the torah. The left elitist don't want any part of protecting the country at all!! By the way, it was not right for the people who threw rocks, but the female reporters were asking for it. You don't put your bleeding hand into a piranha tank and then blame the fish for biting. Regards, A tax paying army served haredi
47. Haredim & zahal
Kevin John Lee ,   Glasgow/UK   (06.25.12)
The mitzva of defending the state of Israel,is formost in all haredim,as before the state of Israel was reborn, jews had very little option in their defence,as was displayed by the shoa!,one does not ! stop being or having a belief in G-d,and to suggest that doing service in the defence of their homeland is not part of their make-up,and leave such duty to other Israeli"s and Jews is a denial of Torah,no matter how many times one does Daven!. Shalom Rav.
48. #43
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (06.25.12)
Haredim: having Jewish children, maintaining Jewish tradition, paying taxes (I work with them), serving in the army (I serve with them). Le ef: demanding that working people pay more taxes so she can get more benefits and drink cappucino in Tel Aviv, trashing public property

then kick them out like and other illegal immigrants but where to send then who would want people that produce zero and demand much
50. 26 Charles "enough is enough"?
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.25.12)
Haven t you seen enough of one war WW2? to wish a war where Jews will Has Vehalila kill each other s children? Sending aswell the secular and orthodox youth to fight ,while suppressing all compassion and killing who ever stands on shooting distance? That s wat you want? That s why Anna Frank died? She must turn in her grave. We must put an end on this craziness,or it will put an end on Israel. Or we will alll Has Vehalila die together or we have to learn to live together.Therefor we must talk. And build a fair unifying State reaching out to all Jews.
51. 33 Ginette
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.25.12)
Thank you so much,Ginette. Israel needs a smart and strong conciliator .
52. 42 tom, BOTH sides must do...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.25.12)
serious steps to join the GOLDEN MIDDLE WAY which is Science IDF and not the least Tora . Any of the two parties shouldn t be the tiger that the only way to conciliate is to allow oneself to be devoured. Only united we can be strong.
53. 44 Jojo For Kidush Hashem...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.25.12)
try to react in a kinder way next time.
54. 26 - There is only ONE solution : serve or leave ,...
split ,   US   (06.25.12)
Where ? Who want's them ? ,... To add an insult to injury they keep making babies grow in numbers and bragging about it. Google "135,616 Yeshiva and Kollel " and take a look what's waiting for you ;) ,...
55. 38 Talula You are brave & smart...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.25.12)
but also very unfair to yourself. One can not recover from hate with more hate.Only love can break the vicious circle. The best way to receive love is to give love.Lots of love.
56. Ora , why should my grandchildren serve
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.25.12)
in the IDF , and charidi children not ? why should my grandchildren have to wait 3 years before going to univ because they serve the country ? You come up with arguments that have no value . We don't want war , only EGUALITY for all of our children . So don't try to divert us from this discussion . Apart of this , if the IDF has to take in account everyone's problems , there would be NO IDF , nor Israel .
57. Ora , 53 . regarding your dream
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.25.12)
To have a united people , i answered that with you it could be possible , but NOT with this jojo and alikes . I'll answer him in the same way , the only tongue this jojo understands . Sorry if i'll hurt you , it's certainly not what i mean to do .
58. make the arabs serve too
avi ,   nyc   (06.25.12)
or throw them out also
59. affreux jojo 44 . It was delicious !
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.25.12)
They have something new on their menu : grilled frog legs , they are deefreeze , i prever them fresh . But not to bad . Do you know that restaurants in national parks are open on Shabbat ? Do you know that some bus lines resume the service at 3.30 PM , while shabbat ends only 5 hours later ? Learn history jojo , 60 years ago WWII was over , And Israel was reborn sice 4 years , thanks mostly to seculars . Frumkin was one of the "founders" , but seculars developped it into the modern town we know today . If not for all those seculars , there would be NO State of Israel today . Israel , a country that will serve you as refuge , if one day you need to flee your "fine" London . Olam ha'emmeT [ not emmeS as you , a poor galut so called Jew writes ] what's that ? if you like it , go and vegetate there , ASAP .
60. Anyone else see this protest to be on the same level as
William ,   Israel   (06.25.12)
the social protests in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem? Both make demands of the State and their fellow citizens, while decrying them as "ignorant" and running from their own obligations to the community.
