The settlements have been built because US foreign aid, very generous over the years, has made it possible. And, it is this foreign aid (about $4 billion/year) that gives the US the leverage to pressure us into doing what should have been done along time ago: end the damned occupation of another people. If you don't like it, then tell Obama to cut all foreign aid to us, and end all political support at the UN, and end all military aid to us, and we will happily go our own way. Then we will see how long we last without any US support. If we are not willing to do that, then we ought to realize that we went as far as we could with the settlements in Judea and Samaria, we will get major settlement blocs as a final deal with the Palestinians, but the rest is beyond us. If the Palestinians have internationally recognized borders and a state, the pressure will be on them to keep the peace. That is why Hamas hates the 2-state solution, for them it is a trap.
