Ok the author narrated events from childhood and I will also say since my childhood I never heard of any court judging this land dispute between Israel and Palestinians. I trusted UK judicial system and this has to be tried with both parties presenting their cases to court of law and through appeals until all process exhausted. I hope Palestinians have money to pay lawyers than throwing stone and building big houses.

Palestinians may have witnesses such as Church of Scotland and British Committee for Universities in Palestine to support them so we wait for this land dispute settled in civilised way.

True, he is a great scientist. However he is siding on the wrong side of history. Read some history yourself; you might learn something.

This withdrawal is therefore a result of intimidation and by no means a support of BDS. He’s been in Israel four times and wanted to travel again but he was pressed to withdraw. He's clearly a victim of BDS. HOW STUPID IS PM’S OFFICE TO ATTACK A VICTIM OF BDS ?!

Dear sir, A few facts: *The UN announced the formation of a Jewish state & an Arab state. The jews said yes the Arabs started a war which is called the 1948 war. *Israel,in history,belonged to the Jewsih people who lived there about 3300 years ago in a changing size of their country. *The palestinians NEVER existed as a nation,look for yourself about their "history" ! Your observation is quite astute. You may very well be correct. We know that Chomsky put much pressure on him. Others have said all along there is more to the story than we are knowing yet.

Dear Sir, You have some facts wrong: 1)Jerusalem,was NEVER paalestinian,it belonged to Jordan beforew the 1967 war. So it CAN NOT be a palestinian occupied territory ! 2)Jerusalem is not mentioned in the Quran,not even once ! 3)The palestinians respect jerusalem so much that in the last round of violence they bombarded it with missiles ! 4)The palestinians as a nation NEVER existed ! They are a mix of tribes from Egypt,Jordan etc. They have a full right of living alongside Israel but guess what...they don't want us alongside ! 5)The problem was and still is : A palestinian state will rise tomorrow if the palestinians accept a JEWISH state,Israel,alongside them -they don't !!! One can complain that he doesn't like the PM’s stance towards the Palestinian people and perhaps that he's a leftist. But he actually argued against BDS – talk is better than boycott.

I have lived in this country now for over 50 years. My children all served in the army, and I did miluim for over 20 years. I my wife and children have ONLY Israeli citizenship. Do I understand Israel? Only too well. I don't want to get into an argument with you, but feel that I must say something about withdrawal and "smaller space" In a country the size of Israel, borders do not buy security. (Russia,China, USA are the exception) Do you remember our borders in 1973 ? From Mt Hermon (The eyes of Israel) in the North to the Suez Canal and the Bar Lev line. The most secure borders you could wish for. The only way to achieve security is to have a strong army (which we have) and to sign peace aggreements with our neighbors.

How do you sign "Peace Treaties" with people who don't want peace? Does Abbas want peace,? Does Khaled Masha'al want Peace? Did Arafat want Peace? He had it all and refused it! The plurality of Jews in Israel today are from North Africa, European Jews are the minority! There were no Palestinians, at least Arab ones, there at the time, so it would have been hard to ask permission. There were, however a a very few South Syrians living in isolated villages and a scattering of nomadic families with no allegiance to any particular country. Late 19 cent Western adventurers recount only finding deserted towns and villages in the area with most living in tents.

Boycotts worked in Alabama and South Africa and are necessary to force change. Tzchi Gavrieli would do better trying to persuade the Israeli regime (he advises) to end it's occupation instead of attacking Prof Hawking with this bias article.

The organizations behind the BDS movement will be at great pains to explain why their moral barometer is particularistic to the Palestinian/Israeli conflict but show no interest employing BDS tactics in other conflicts involving "occupied peoples" seeking statehood. They do not propose those methods, for example, concerning Chinese products originating in Tibet, Russian products manufactured in Chechnya, or Turkish products developed or built in the Kurdish regions. The list goes on and on. When it is only Israel that is singled out, one is left with the unmistakable impression that the only Jewish state in the world is being held to a separate and singular standard. There is simply no way that this reasoning can stand up to logical or moral scrutiny. Clearly, something more sinister is at work here. He is apparently unaware of the many generous offers to the Palestinians including one by Israeli PM Olmert in 2008 that included an Israeli surrender of 96% of the West Bank (with land exchanges for the rest), a division of Jerusalem and a state. The Palestinians have never offered a compromise of their own. They refuse to recognise Israel as a Jewish state, demand the complete "right of return" and promote intense anti-Semitism (in the school curriculum, the public square and in the media. Hawking may understand the quarks of physics, but he has no understanding of the quirks of regional geopolitics

According to one British newspaper yesterday, his voice-machine works off an Israeli-developed Intel chip! It will be interesting to see if he makes any effort to find a different one that doesn't - but somehow, I doubt he will. All these 'BDS' types only boycott those things they find easy and convenient to boycott, but never anything that might really make their own lives hard - making them all just hypocrites.
