...because she is...12, 13, 14 years old.
62. Charles - numbers
looking east   (07.26.13)
India-Israel trade was ~4.4 bn USD during the last 12 monts. The trade agreement is expected to enlarge it to 9 bn USD in few years. Israel exported ~5 bn USD to China in 2012 (export to Hong Kong is included) Eilat is not far from the Indian ocean, and most of Israel's export is high technology export which is not dependent on distance. 10 years from now, the export to Asia is expected to be bigger than to the EU.
63. Other numbers
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.26.13)
2/3 of Israel's export to China come from two societies . Intel and Chemical [ dont remember the exact name ] Exporting technologies to China brings some risks , they copy and sell ..... More than half of the bilateral trade with India are diamonds . Belgium , also a big one in diamond trading , don't include the diamond trade in their stats , not much is "left" in the country . Of course that those two countries , with their population , are , or will become more and more , important partners to Israel . Their % in Israel's trade will increase , but Israel's total trade will also increase . So if the % of trade with the EU will diminish , the trade in Euros can also increase
64. wrong numbers, untapped potential
looking east   (07.26.13)
1. Most of the Israeli export to china is via Hong Kong. Your numbers are ignoring the export via HK. With HK, Intel and CIL are less than 30% of the export. 2. untapped potential - When Teva will penetrate the Asian markets, the export will jump. As of today, Teva sells mostly to Japan, and not so much to other Asian countries. 3. Israel's economy is extremely agile. The composition of the export is also changing. Water technology, agriculture, medical devices - are on the rise. Apple and AMD established new R&D centers in Israel only recently. Samsung is also widening its activity in Israel. 4. China and India are not all of the east. Israeli export to South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan is on the rise.
65. H.K. numbers
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.27.13)
The last i found are 2012 , 4 first months . H.K. imported US$ 969 million from Israel . Precious stones , pearls account for 89.9 % of this . Let me remind you that diamonds do not leave a big return in our economy . You confirm what i wrote . Our exports to Eastern countries will increase , as will increase our total exports . So the EU part will probably diminish in % , but not in value . And the EU will remain an important partner , always . Don't forget that many Israelis have European roots , know their languages and mentality . This makes it much easier for business .
66. The EU might be important...
Igor ,   Germany   (07.28.13)
...but not as important as the survival of the one and only Jewish state in the world. Today they boycott the Territories. Tomorrow they'll boycott even areas within the Green Line. If you don't believe it, ask yourself which country has its embassy in Jerusalem or recognize Jerusalem as the Israel's capital? This will go as far as reducing Israel to the Partition Plan of 1947. But, deviating from the Plan, the EU will require Israel accept the so-called "Palestinian Refugees", thus putting an end to the Jewish state. The Shoah didn't happen by the Nazis announcing one day that tomorrow all Jews will be gassed. On the contrary, it started by gradually taking away rights of Jewish citizens, one by one.
67. IGOR 66 . The US has her embassy in Tel Aviv too
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.28.13)
68. #67: I know that
Igor ,   Germany   (07.28.13)
I agree that the U.S. (the official policy, not the people) is not pro-Israel, but the EU is decisively anti-Israel, both the people and the policies. In the U.S. there is at least a law requiring the embassy to be moved to Jerusalem. Can you comment on the substance of my comment? Do you honestly believe the EU would become Israel's best friend if Israel returned beyond the Green Line? They have millions of Muslim citizens/residents living on welfare, depend on Arab oil and are unable to defend themselves from Muslim terrorism.

The US has a law regarding her embassy , since years . Result : the embassy is still in Rechov Hayarkon in Tel Aviv [ i understand them , in front of the beach ! ] The Us anti Israel ? i don't think so . If they were truly , they would have taken measures against us . Regarding the EU . French and Belgian people are fed up with their muslim population . Ask people whose cars were burned or windows smashed . Ask older Belgians who live near the muslim neighborhoods how they feel ! Europe stood behind us when we were weak , now they are behind the "weak" palestinians . They are also behind the "rebels" in Syria , as they were behind other anti dictators . They didn't learn their lesson with Iran , when they supported Khomeiny .
70. #69 Charles
Igor ,   Germany   (07.29.13)
We are digressing. In the US, the administrations are trying to balance realpolitik with the popular sentiment. In the EU, the governments are using Israel the same way they used Jews in the past, to divert from bigger and real problems. Let's assume the "Palestinians" are weak. So what? There are literally hundreds of conflicts in the world. Why don't the Europeans care for the weaker party there? Chechnya? Georgia? Sri Lanka? Kurdistan? Kongo? They don't give a damn! It's about Israel and it's about it being a Jewish state!
71. Igor , i don't agree
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (07.30.13)
But if the situation is so bad in the EU for Jews [ they are against Israel because it's Jewish you wrote ] why are you still there ? Israel is nearer to Europe than those you mention . Israel is also the birth place of jesus , important for Catholics . Israel is also on the Mediterranean sea . Israel , as was palestine before it , was always considered an important country , a way to the East . AQnd this is still so . Problems in the EU ? the economy is in trouble since 4-5 years , but the EU politics didn't change since this . Was the same before . Bigger problems , real problems ?
