31. Should this proposal never come to fruition
William ,   Israel   (01.07.14)
let it be a wake-up call for the Israeli Arab community to show a little loyalty to the State and their fellow citizens, and push back on the hatred and discrimination supported by Arab MKs. When I see more people like Jabar Jabrin come forth, I will support Lieberman's proposal less and less.
32. They complain they are 3rd class persecuted citizens
Sami ,   New York, USA   (01.07.14)
They complain they are 3rd class persecuted citizens.
33. ZF do not reply to this post
JGedalov   (01.07.14)
Are you suggesting that if both goverments agree to change the border, jew settlers with israeli citizenship will receive also a palestinian nationality but their childrens will not be israelis? Or what if palestinian goverment says, ok jew settlers will receive palestinian citizenship but their childrens will not be palestinians? probably if a foreign goverment in Europe or America want to introduce a legislation like the one you suggested, it will have been perceived as an attempt to deny or refuse civil rights to individuals because of religion or nationality?
34. #9 - like Mexicans and the US
William ,   Israel   (01.07.14)
There are two problems with your proposal. 1) If future generations were limited to citizenship where they are born, mothers with dual citizenship will work hard to give birth in Israel....both for the citizenship and for the high-quality healthcare. No different than Mexican immigrants having kids in the US hoping to gain US citizenship for the family. 2) Dual-citizens pose a real security risk. Israel had humanitarian policies that allowed for family reunification and that brought tons of abuse by terror groups and criminals. This will be no different. Only a loyalty pledge and a strong border will ensure safety and security, and in a generation, peace.
35. Lebi done well........
Calibi ,   Sydney Aust   (01.07.14)
Arabs especially Muslims or Muslim anywhere. When they are minority....everything can be negotiate and they can preach love but when they are a significant minority make sure you submit or face the consequences. Lebi is a good politician for Jewish survival. May God bless him.
36. #15 - with rights comes responsibilties
William ,   Israel   (01.07.14)
and the latter part of that equation is what escapes the Arabs. Yes, they should have rights like every other citizens in Israel...and they do, but they must also have obligations like every other citizen in Israel. We're not a Jewish State that offers welfare services to non-Jews.
37. All residents of Israel shld be offerred right to move to
SG ,   Teaneck   (01.07.14)
the new Palestinian state. Let's see how many takers there are? Of course the PA will refuse to accept any Jews and the Arab Israeli's will refuse to exchange the good life for the privilege of helping to build the Palestinian state.
38. Transfer
Haim Glottman ,   Raanana, Israel   (01.07.14)
What right does Lieberman have to transfer Israeli citizens to another government and cancel their citizenship? Is he trading farms with the cattle included? It would be so nice to "transfer" him back to Russia!
39. @26
JGedalov   (01.07.14)
"If they value being Israeli why don't they speak up when the loony Left compare Israel to apartheid South Africa? "- funny to read your comment im not sure what is worse, the left partys caring being Israelis, the arab israelis defending the israeli left or the assylum seekers protesting in TA....
40. #13 - how many HK Brits aided terrorists targeting China?
William ,   Israel   (01.07.14)
None. But many "Palestinians" with ID cards or through family reunification did aid terrorist attacks against Israel and Jews, and did so because they are "Palestinians" first. (their words)
41. Surprise, surprise
Idfmom ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.07.14)
42. Of course, nobody wants to be ruled by the PA
Berk ,   Amsterdam   (01.07.14)
43. not up to arabs. no body moving them just moving border line
ralph   (01.07.14)
44. Jordan enforce cancellation of citizeship of Palestinians
Avram Goldsmith ,   Toronto, Canada   (01.07.14)
Palestians are spiting in the well from where they drink water, and now they declare tht is fro rain. They deserveyhe same as Cannaites.
45. 18 is right
Take your choice ,   Tel Aviv   (01.07.14)
Want the bread buttered on both sides.
46. Unfortunately, most israeli arabs are antizionist...
FireJeff ,   Jerusalem   (01.07.14)
If israeli arabs want to stay in Israel, they have to support the jewish identity of the state, even if they aren't jewish. But, if they don't and they support the very foundation of the jewish state, this means they are an enemy of Israel and they don't deserve the israeli citizenship.
47. #8. "Palestinians" have no national rights in Judea/Samaria.
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.07.14)
Two states for two peoples means Israel and Jordan. Nothing else.
48. Seize this opportunity to launch
Yzhak ,   israel   (01.07.14)
a worldwide media offensive : Israeli Arabs prefer Israeli over Arab citizenship.
49. Those living in Judah & Shomron want to stay there
Tal ,   Tel Aviv   (01.07.14)
Jews/Israelis living in contested/disputed areas want to stay where they are. The PA etc steadfastly refuse to even entertain a micro- thought on this
50. #36 William
deavman ,   Akko   (01.07.14)
When you wrote " We're not a Jewish State that offers welfare services to non-Jews. " you obviously forgot the last part where it says:" ...to non-jews who refuse to comply with their responsabilies" Ohterwise it would really look bad... I am happy I could help...
51. Why would they give up their ability to travel....
(01.07.14)
freely. Like the guy said, he would lose the ability to visit his friends and family in places like Nazareth, Haifa, Jaffa, etc.
52. The conflict goes on.
michael ,   israel   (01.07.14)
We arabs love all the benefits and freedom living in the state of Israel. However, as arabs we have no problem in working towards the destruction of the Jewish state of israel. We want our cake and we also want to eat the cake. Jordan abrogated the citizenship of the arabs living in Judea and Samaria. Israel can do the same thing, to us. It sounds like a good idea.
53. Real nightmare
Marian ,   Romania   (01.07.14)
The nightmare of the arabs who live in Israel, West Bank and even Gaza is to wake up in an Arab democratic state ( like Egipt, Syria, Tunis). The prove is the opinion of the israeli arabs from the Arab 'Triangle'. I am sure that the palestinians from WB and Gaza secretly dream to become part of a Greater Israel and are doing what they can for this goal : undermining the talks, reducing their natality.
54. WHY SHOULD THEY CARE?
Mike ,   Newport Beach   (01.07.14)
The Philistines would if this was truly their homeland, but its not, and everyone knows it. There is no pride in the Palestinian mind because they did not receive the same promise given to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Jews care because this is all they have.
55. #53-You got it!
Koose E Mack ,   NY USA   (01.07.14)
Marian, you are so correct!!!!
56. Not so fast ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (01.07.14)
"Lawyer Alaa Atmanah from Kafr Kara said the foreign minister's plan is offensive and not feasible." It's not quite as offensive as living in Israel and waving the ersatz "Palestinian" flag and screaming hate-filled slogans against the Jewish people and the State of Israel. It is also entirely feasible. The State of Israel has every right to determine who may and who may not reside within its borders. When Kafr Kana is no longer within its borders, Mr. Atmanah will have no right to reside within Israel. "'It's a racist proposal,'" he said. "'Most of the population won't agree to give up their Israeli citizenship.'" Well, we aren't planning to seek their agreement. They will have the same choice that the Jews of Judea and Samaria were given when they were expelled by Jordan in 1948 -- which is to say, none whatsoever. "Atmanah said that if the transfer would be approved most of the residents of the area would be forced to move to cities such as Hadera, Afula or Pardes Hanna." 'fraid not. Those cities will be off limits to ersatz "Palestinians." They wanted a state -- now they have it. Time to vote with their feet.
57. a good start
Arn ,   Yehud   (01.07.14)
A good start would be to accommodate those waving the Palestinian flag at every anti-Israel demonstration by sending them to their beloved "Palestine." And not to forget to cancel their identity cards. .
58. It's their land
Ahmad ,   UK   (01.07.14)
Palestinians of these areas are the endogenous people, you like it or not, and it's nice to keep reminding you guys -as humans do forget by nature- nice to remind you that you came from all over the world to PALESTINE and occupied the land simply because you think/ believe/ told it belongs to you 4000 years ago, yes you might born there but ask your father where he or hi dad came from. You can't change history sorry
59. #28 So sorry!
Mira ,   Vienna   (01.07.14)
I certainly intended TIBI the hysterical MK ;-((
60. #58 Ahmad: did you read the article? I think not
(01.07.14)
The idea is that they stay EXACTLY ON THEIR LAND, but this land will be part of a Palestinian state, not part of Israel. Isn't it funny that for people who speak all the time about their strong connection to the land, what these Arab Israelis say is that they will LEAVE their land and houses and move somewhere else in Israel if their territory is given to a future Palestinian state, and all that in order to retain their Israeli citizenship and not be part of the country of their own people - the Palestinians. What they show actually is that they care nothing for their land, houses or Palestinian identity. They just want to continue be part of the JEWISH state where the live better than other Arabs anywhere in the middle east.
