Mr Oz is a liquidator of Israel He also denigrates Arabs and their dreams but at this point they may tolerate him

From my observations I deduce that suicide is in the family. My friend Vadim committed suicude 10 years ago (see Haibun for Vadim in American anthology of haibun and haiga --Red Moon Publishing House) and I learned that there is a suicide in Mr Oz's family. Subconciously Mr Oz is projects suicide for the whole Israel. We should not confront him, just patiently help him and enjoy his suicide-tinted writings! z

It is obvious this man's hate for his own history and tradition have poisoned his soul beyond repair or recovery...he writes like a goy and has compassion for terrorists....of what value could this man be to the Israel state? It is clear he is not well, and his opinions are both groundless and worthless...the settlers caused him pain for 30 years and now he is free! I am looking forward to this traitor being in immense spiritual pain as his secular worldview is destroyed by arab bombs onto tel-aviv...the vapidness and nothingness of these non-people will be exposed when they have to deal with what Gush Katif residents had to deal with..they will finger-point and leave the Land...and then we will know who is willing to build a country (the settlers) and who is working to destroy this country (writers like this). After reading this article and all the comments,I think I'll accept the opinion of Nobel prize winner Prof. Robert Aumann- "the disengagement/expulsion was immoral inhuman and stupid" After all Prof. Aumann did not merit such honour for talking nonsense

I agree with this article by Amos Oz. The settlers and the governments that encouraged them have caused enormous damage to the state of Israel, morally, politically and economically. OK, we're not going be best friends with the Arabs, but let's try to lead our lives in parallel and with dignity. They can't get rid of us and we can't get rid of them, so we have to make the best of it.

Whatever Israel does to placate its enemies only adds ammunition to be used against them. Their's is a culture in which the overriding motivation is HATRED OF ISRAEL. That Isael has earned this hatred is partially true (there has been too much stick and not enough carrot), but what has happened has happened. Oz is saying that if Israel is a good neighbour to the Palestinians it will be stronger for it and, in the end perhaps, the Palestinians will have reason to dilute their hatred with feelings of appreciation, if not gratitude. It will take a generation for this to take effect, but I agree with him: the opportunity the 1967 victory gave Israel to reconcile the Palestinians was thrown away, and unless they are reconciled Israel will never know peace and security. Surely that is obvious by now even to the Israeli Right.

I Feel sorry for you and all peace loving citizens of Isreal. You have some god awful politcal lobbist in U.S. that will continue to feed them. You should not be fearing fundalmunst Islam, it's the Rihgt Wing Christians working with the Jewish Lobby. Jonathan, Oz is not the voice of the sane. It has been said that a neurotic builds castles in the sky but a psychotic lives in them. Oz suffers from a variation of "Stockholm Syndrome" where the kidnapped lose touch with reality and identify with their kidnappers. It is a pathological reaction when the mind cannot come to grips with the fact that they really are out to kill us. In the Oz variation, the secular Jew, unable to come to grips with the fact that the Arabs want to kill him simply because he IS a Jew, identifies with the Arabs more than his own people. Sadly, you show signs of this condition already, as in "let's try to lead our lives in parallel" and "they can't get rid of us and we can't get rid of them so we have to make the best of it." Your mind simply can not accept the fact that the jihadis want Israel gone; dead and gone. The occupation they and their European apologists are talking about isn’t Gaza, but Tel Aviv, Haifa, Ashkelon and Jerusalem. You don't have to take my word for it. Just read Hizbullah’s, Hamas’ charter, Islamic Jihad’s charter; or any of the speeches of Nasrallah, Ahmadinjad, Bin Laden, Al Zawahiri, or even the sermons of the radical imams in the mosques in your native Londonistan. They all consider it their divine mission not to rest until they remove Israel from Dar-al-Islam which stretches from Spain to the Persian Gulf and beyond. Thus, there are two fatal flaws in your reasoning: 1) you can not live “in parallel and with dignity” with 150,000,000 fanatics so long as they believe that God has commanded them to kill you and 2) if enough Jews think like you, they absolutely can get rid of you because the fanatics have the numbers and the weapons and Jews like you and Oz have not only lost the will to fight but any understanding why you must fight, or die. How else could Israel end up with a Prime Minister who, without shame, would declare that: “We are tired of fighting, we are tired of being courageous, we are tired of winning, we are tired of defeating our enemies, we want to be able to live in an entirely different environment of relations with our enemies.” With an attitude like that, the outcome of the Lebanon war can be no surprise.
