91. We know what this is all about
JS ,   USA   (12.14.05)
More often than not, a leader in a country in a situation as in Iran, the goal will be for unilateral talks with the US. This rhetoic (and/or sabre rattelnig) is an attempt to get attention and hush money. The result being a "display" that usually ends up with the appearance of "I stood up to the big guys" and a transfer of US funds. If it does not end there there is usually sanctions or actions that are not in the best interest of the people of the leader's country.
92. Air force! shut this guy up already
Efi ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (12.14.05)
93. To moron john #81
Efi ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (12.14.05)
After you john, leave Canada and go back to your 'original country' wherever it is in Europe. Do you see how stupid your argument is. There is no country in the world that didnt have people living in it before. Unlike Canada though, 3,000 years ago Israel existed in the same place it did. The people spoke the same language and had the same capital. They are our ancestors.
94. #88 right on the money
joe Hadeed ,   washington   (12.14.05)
dictators use israel for their politatical games with their people ...take a look at Assad of Syria .....he did not try to stop the israeli invasion of Lebanon ...he helped the israeli backed right militia againist the Palestinians ....put thousands of Palestinians in jails and left the syrian/israeli front very safe for Israel while using his media to fight for palestinian right .....similar can be said anout almost all Arab rulers /dictaors . now its Iran's turn ....Israel don,t worry its all hallow words for internal public consumption .
95. tsk tsk
Yoav Ben Zakai ,   Israel   (12.14.05)

96. Ahmadinejad's problems

Close-set eyes, simian semblance, and the demeanour of a cretin: No wonder he's provoking his suicide!
97. to #93
john ,   canada   (12.14.05)
actually i am visitng canada and going back to my "original country" soon! Funny argument though with the crap about the 3000 years ... lol .. ancestors ??? hahha ... man .. just admit it .. ur ancestors were born in europe and always were in europe .. but becuz ur grandfathers were greedy and unwanted in europe thats why they came up with the ancestors story to occupy palestine.. palestine was always palestine .. ! same place same capital same people till 1948 when those outsiders came ! and soon will be kicked out back to europe !
98. Response to Kate
Bruce ,   Halifax, Canada   (12.14.05)
Kate, you read Thomas's message wrong. He's not saying they shouldn't exist, they shouldn't exist as they are currently. Meaning, they shouldn't be in their current situation. Exist was just the wrong word.
99. Iranian President Mahmoud
Steve Dungy ,   Cannon Falls, MN, US   (12.14.05)
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is basking in the, much undeserved, attention of international media coverage. Of course he is aware of the absurdity of his comments. Declarations of truth are not the point of his comments on Israel. The only point of his fantastical fake confabulations of Jewish history, is align himself with popular Arab sentiment and thereby drawing attention away from his unpopularity especially with Iranian youth. The Iranian youth see Ahmadinejad as an obstacle to welcome westernization. They value western culture but mostly they value western freedom, both of which are verboten by the Ahmadinejad Islamic fundamentalist regime. He is using one of the oldest political trick in the book: When you are unpopular, adopt a popular stance to give the disgruntled some thing to like about you. His comments may have backfired on him this time. Instead of becoming a rallying point, he has become a bit of a buffoon. We should know Ahmadinejad for what he is: a politician, an opportunist and an Islamic Fundamentalist (perhaps also only for popularity sake). He does not merit the attention he is getting.
100. !
thor ,   prs   (12.14.05)
Just send in some planes and drop some stuff on his nuclear facilities to end this quarrel once and for all.
101. he is right
Dream ,   usa   (12.14.05)
:) The great thing is, none of you bottomfeeders can do anything about it!!!! I love this guy!
102. Iran, the happiest place on earth
jason ,   USA   (12.14.05)
Really, I mean this is a shock. You're telling me that the leader of an Arab nation is denying the holocaust happened and calling for the destruction of Israel? Wow, such a harsh statement from a normally rational part of the world. What's more irritating,--that were so used to such hateful garbage coming from the mouths of arab leaders, or that this guy is alive?
103. US, Canada, or Alaska........
Adrian ,   Berlin, Germany   (12.14.05)
Alsaka is a great country, but it is no United States. What a joke. By the way, World War II never happened either!!
104. Steve on Ahmedenejad
muneer ,   Bahrain   (12.14.05)
Ok so he's got his geography wrong and he hasnt learned his history well BUT Condi couldnt do her maths or Rumsy couldnt get his statistics right ! Why go into all this - the world was peaceful till BUSH came on the scene. Now from Australia to Timbuktu - there is just hatred for others ! WHAT HAVE WE ACHIEVED ! i THINK PEOPLE SHOULD GO BACK TO THE FLOWER POWER AND PEACE SIGNS OF THE 60'S AND GIVE PEACE A CHANCE !
105. To Jacques
NYC Girl   (12.14.05)
This "majnoun" makes Qaddafi look like the poster boy for mental health.
106. ONLY ELECTION !
Al   (12.14.05)
Only an election in palestine can solve this problem properly . Who have said thay jewish people must live in Israel and be killed ? They could have a good life without any challenge in europ or in the USA with their good friends. jesus ! Why Blair and Bosh want to kill the God sons? Why they don't invite them to their countries ?
107. Interesting aspect of idea
dave ,   new york   (12.14.05)
There is already an Al-Aqsa Intifada. If Ahmedinejad has his way there will be an Alaska Intifada, too.
108. Move Israel to Alaska?
Robert Williams ,   Anchorage Alaska   (12.14.05)
LOL... LOL... I Don't think so not In alaska. Maybe in the middle of the the Arctic Circle. I suggest you stay were your at. You'll be safe, FOR NOW!
109. all cousins
S.O'Neill ,   Greensboro,USA   (12.14.05)
Concerning the talk of who came first and who was there in the beginning. Was it not Abraham who came out of Mesopotamia? They were all there in the beginning and they are all distant cousins now fighting each other. I am not a bible thumper, but I read enough of it to get that particular point.
110. 98 to97
matthew ,   new york   (12.14.05)
I joined this forum just to tell you how completely retarded you sound John. The title of Isreal has been around since 1948, which does not mean that the state has not existed for the past several thousand years. And so you know, besides the state of Isreal, Jews are a wondering people who tend to have difficulty associating with European nationality because of the extreme anti-semitism that has existed for the recorded past. I understand how you cant understand this being anti-semitic and all
111. Thomas vs Kate
Steve ,   Summerside, Canada   (12.14.05)
My opinion of your arguement is that it is based upon false assumptions. Kate, do you really think that any living human on the planet is living in the same political boundaries as their earliest ancestors...that would be proposterous. ALL peoples of this planet that live today are on land that they at one point claimed as their own. Thomas was trying to say that it is this need to "claim" land as our own that is at fault...not that the Jews dont deserve a place to live!...Everyone deserves a place to live!
112. A better idea is to move the Arabs to Arabia!
Daisy ,   USA   (12.14.05)
That is where they came from and that is where they should be!
113. "Palestinians" are a myth!
Daisy ,   USA   (12.14.05)
It's all an Arab lie! http://www.sullivan-county.com/id3/palestine.htm
114. To #97
CZ ,   New York, NY   (12.14.05)
you are an ignorant fool.// To the rest of the board: I'm sure most of you pretty much know that the rest of the world is as uninformed as this one (#97). That's why we must educate the masses. Otherwise they could start believing the words of amhitlerjihad. To Kate-you rock!
115. #29 -- not yet. Looks like we're reliving 1930s again.
AK   (12.14.05)
Back then everybody thought that Hitler's ramblings were those of a harmless lunatic; and Jews and Czechoslovakia were expendable. Iran is today's Germany and Islamists are today's Nazis and they're undeniably the entire world's problem, whether the world is willing to accept it or not. Expecting the tiny Israel to alone fight our war is like expecting Czechoslovakia to fight Nazi Germany alone -- they can not do, nor should they be expected to. We can try to stop Iranian Mullahs and their fellow Islamo-fascists now or we'll have to do it later when the price in lives will only go up. The question is, have our leaders learnt anything from history?
116. #37 and #19, I believe, #21 was responding to #18
AK   (12.14.05)
As to your own statement -- do you believe that a fight of 1 billion Muslims with 5 million Israeli Jews is a fair fight? As to your belief that it is not worth fighting over your land, check what's going on in Australia. The layback Aussies are suddenly discovering that "live and let live" is not exactly everybody's canon, especially not of those who believe that it is okey to rape women in short dresses and with uncovered faces, and now the are fighting back.
117. 109 -- Then you know that Arabs are descended ...
AK   (12.15.05)
according to the Bible from the bastard son of Abraham, Ishmael (the Biblical fact the Arabs also believe) who was sent into the Arabian desert to start the new race –Arabs, while Abraham bequeathed the land in Canaan to his son, Isaac, the forefather of the Jews. The "cousins" thus should pack their bags and go home to the land chosen for them by God and their forefather Abraham, whom they claim to revere.
118. #97 What about over 50% of jews who are NOT from Europe?
AK   (12.15.05)
You argument is idiotic, John.
119. Iran: Move Israel to Alaska
B Anderson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (12.15.05)
Shhh, Please stop telling everyone that Alaska is a part of the US. Sure we accept their money, but it is the only way we Alaskans can travel abroad anymore and not face a barrage of political opinions about how the US is screwing the world. When someone in another country asks where we're from, we say Alaska, and are nearly always met with "Brrr. It's cold there." Then inevitably, they ask if that's a part of Canada. Since we share a border, we say, "almost". As for moving Isreal to Alaska, I say, sure, sounds good. I will however, be investing in down jackets and snow shovels to sell.
120. Jews to Alaska
z ,   USA   (12.15.05)
i don't think the people in Alaska would appreciate having a jewish state in their own backyard.
