Ron ,   LA   (04.18.06)
But, who listens to me, anyway? Moron
3. Hanania: moron human rights
Ron ,   LA   (04.18.06)
"I’ve been telling the Arab world for years that responding to Israeli violations of human rights and international laws with peace and non-violence is the best way to deal with Israel." Q: Why would Hahania tell Arabs to stop oppressing women, gays, dissidents? A: Who the hell do you think he is, moron?
4. Sure Ray we will hug them... give them understanding
Chai ,   Israel   (04.18.06)
as they slide the knife slowly across our throat... Oh please Hamas is a terrorist organization, deserves no recognition, murders women who walk on the beach with their intended and then has the gull to say oops sorry.. Look they are the scourage of society.. no one will deal with them. If it walks like a duck quacks like a duck it is a duck.
5. Palestinians don't have the rights you say they do
Shai ,   Israel   (04.18.06)
A close reading of the UNSCR's from 1967 and 1973 that are relevant to endng the conflict between the Arabs and Israelis are clear enough, and they do not imply the "rights" that Ray asserts Israel must recognize. They say two things: 1) Both Arabs and Israelis have obligations under the terms of these Resolutions to end belligerancy and that Israel's ending belligerancy is not a precondition for Arabs ending it. It's absurd to say that if Israel is reacting to defend itself from Arab belligerance, which the Resolutiosn prohibit, that this reaction is of itself a violation of the Resolutions. And by no means is there parity in the effort to end it - Israel, and not most of the Arab belligerants, has made legitimate, difficult and irreversable moves to show its earnestness, and even the Arab countries who have made "peace" with Israel continue to nurture hate for us. Hardly inspires our confidence in you. 2) That the final boundaries of the Arab state that results from negotiations, not results _in_ negotiations as Ray and Hammas assert, between the two sides will accommodate Israel's security needs. Therefore, 1) there is no "right" to all the lands inside the Green Line for an Arab state in the sense that Ray is referring to it, as though there is parity with the rights Israel has established over its territory - the lands that will become an Arab state are to be negotiated between the Arabs and Jews, and not dictated by the Arabs or Jews Further, Jewish settlements that were established as bulwarks to ensure Israel's security may not be dismantled. 2) the only "right" to land that exists legally is the land belonging to Israel as per the 1949 armistice agreements, and Israel may choose to do with it what it wants, even trading parts of it to the Arabs if it wishes to (Um al fachem comes to mind). As far as I can tell, the dunam per dunam trades this would result in could be something Ray agrees to, when he says "If Israelis are going to keep the illegal settlements, including those in east Jerusalem, they should give the Palestinians land equal to the land they are keeping." I think that calling them "illegal" is simply a symptom of his wishful thinking, though. 3) .Even in the event Israel is able to find agreement with the Palestinians, the Resolutions refer to all the warring parties, which include all the Arab countries at war with Israel. Palestinians are always talking about water rights, air rights, access rights, etc., that are in one way or the other abridged by Israel's security needs. They refuse to recognize that as long as nearly all the Arabs are at war with Israel, Israel cannot be blind to the likelihood that Palestinians will form alliances with these warring countries to finish Israel off altogether. If we had the kind fo relationship with all these countries that the US has with Canada, would we really need to worry about cutting off our water supplies as Syria has tried to do? Or that the Jordan valley would be used as a staging zone for an invasion as Jordan and Iraq did? Or that the WB could be used for an overflight zone by Saudi F15's as is now possible since the Americans refuse to enforce previous agreements that the F15's wouldn't be stationed within flying distance of Israel? So Ray, what's moronic is your view that all Israel has to do is play nice and all will be fine. We have very, very good reasons not to trust the Arabs to play nice.
6. I severely disagree with you Ray
Logic ,   Israel   (04.18.06)
1. Gaza as a prison? I don't know many prisions which are completely open on one side. If you haven't noticed, the border with Egypt is completely unrestricted with lots of human and weapons trafficking going on. Even if Israel withdraws to the '67 borders, the "prison" claim will come up again as an excuse for further irredentism. We are the ones in a "prison" - closed off from most of the Arab world, unable to drive freely across the middle east and forced to barricade ourselves from the bloody terrorist onslaught of those who wish us indiscriminate deadly harm. 2. The Palestinian government, no matter who sits there, is bound to the 1993 Declaration of Principles signed on the White House lawn recognizing Israel. You may say that Hamas never signed it, but a "democratic" government always keeps prior agreements. Israel would be foolish to go back to square one and renegotiate something that was attained many years ago. 3. The Haider government in Austria was appropriately ostracized because of its flagrant racism. Hamas, which is infinitely worse (notice the genocidal designs inscribed in their covenant) should logically take their place among the world's pariah governments.
7. who is the moron?
Yisraeli   (04.18.06)
You may be a great stand up comedian and I will respect that. But when it comes to politics and world affairs all what you write is simplistic, stupid and moronic. May I suggest you stick with comedy and dont bother writing political nonsense. Maybe Ray you should search for the moron in your mirror and I dare say you shall find him. Do us all a favour and stick to comedy.
8. Reality check
Michael ,   Israel   (04.18.06)
Where are the palestinian moderates? if they exist they all must be mutes. An election is only an element Democracy. Rule of law, human rights(meaning recognizing all humans have a right to live) re just as vital. The elections in Gaza showed that the people and their leaders both want a war. unfortuntley, we have a lot of morons in the west. Who do not want to accept it. I couldn't understand how the world was silent to the dangers of Hitler. Now, i understand because the west (inc. Israeli leftists) are just as apthetic today as the people were to Hitler. "those who fail to learn fron History , History often repeats itself: lets hope it doesn't. Wake up! stop living in your fantasy land.
9. Hanania mor(on) terrorism
Ron ,   LA   (04.18.06)
'Hanania sez: "Hamas right in refusing to recognize Israel' Anyway, Hamas has lived by its promise not to resort to suicide bombings, although freelancers and former allies – more true morons - continue to target innocent Israeli citizens “ Today LA Times editorial sez: “Hamas spokesman Sami abu Zuhri said the attack outside a fast-food shop was "the natural result of continued Israeli aggression and escalation and can only be considered a form of self-defense." Morally repellent in themselves, these sentiments raise the question of whether Hamas' own cessation of terrorist attacks is a temporary expedient or an unnecessary one — because its allies will continue to kill and maim Israelis.” Hanania has this “theory” and now he is just looking for morons..
10. mor(on) Hanania wisdom
Ron ,   LA   (04.18.06)
Hanania sez: “The Israelis, Americans and the European Union are all wrong to deny funding to the democratically elected Hamas government.” Hamass charter sez: "Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it" (The Martyr, Imam Hassan al-Banna, of blessed memory). “ Hanania sez: But, who listens to me, anyway? Ron sez: “ moron”
11. Ynet, stop this nonsense.
Ram ,   London   (04.18.06)
Jews around the world are angry, hurting and wish to deal severely with their murdering enemies. Why do you wish to exacerbate our feelings buy publishing this biased moron's viewpoint?
12. "The cat calling the kettle black!" - LOOK WHO IS THE MORON!
HaDaR ,   Turin   (04.18.06)
I cannot believe that there are still people who did not learn enough history to reach the 1930's. This idiot, not satisfied with the failure of the "peacenik" appeasement policy practiced with yesterday's nazis (THEN also Ghandi was proposing "non-violence" to the peoples of Europe and to let themselves be killed but not "fall into the game" of the nazis). JUST A DELAY in bringing THE RETRIBUTION OF JUSTICE to the nazis brought us 6 million Jewish dead and about 80.000.000 all over the world. Razing to the ground Dresden, HAmbourg, Hiroshima and Nagasaki PUT AN END to the massacres. TODAY, we still have IGNORANT PSEUDO-INTELLECTUALS preaching appeasement with TODAY'S NAZIS, the DIRECT descendants of the best allies and collaborators of Eichmann! I say: JENIN LIKE DRESDEN, and NO MORE TERRORISTS WILL COME OUT OF JENIN!
13. I agree with you Hanania!
Abdullah ,   Kuwait City   (04.18.06)
Both Israelis and Palestinians should stop this non-sense cycle of violence and start thinking of how to approach real peace rather than the current real destruction! Israel is lying if she says that it is succeeding in its war against terrorism and the Palestinians are lying if they think that their terrorism on Israeli civilian targets are gaining them anything! Peace.
14. Teach Your Children Well
Patriotic American ,   USA   (04.18.06)
Ray certainly hasn't. I for one feel much safer with people like Saddam Hussein out of the picture. As do the thousands of Kurds who will no longer be gassed to death. The 2,453 American heroes Ray speaks about fought for something, for American ideals, something about which Ray has no clue and no respect. And unfortunately, neither will the next generation if his son is representative of it. Ray is right about one thing though. We should "encourage Hamas to pursue peace." The only way to do that is to bomb the hell out of them and all their sympathizers. They are terrorists with genocidal plans for the Jewish people. They are the new Nazis and we should not hesitate to destroy every last murderous one of them. Giving them money is out of the question. Sorry Ray. By the way, can someone please explain to me what the hell a "Palestinian American" is? Are we just making up modifiers now? In that case call me a Kryptonian American (After all, the birthplace of Superman is just as fictitious as a sovereign state called "Palestine." Except the fictional Krypton didn't produce any suicide bombers).
15. "I even think Hamas might be right..."
kawika ,   munich   (04.18.06)
"... in refusing to recognize Israel" This is where I stopped reading. Are you trying to be a journalist or what? This is a nonsense, biased and totally unnecessary article. Please stop to write anything about the middle east, politics, israel and jews altogether. thank you
16. yet, mor(on) Hanania artice
Ron ,   LA   (04.18.06)
Hanania sez: “ In that month, Americans celebrate our presidents, especially in the schools.” Q: Who can use trashy English and ridicule Americans at the same time espepsially on Ynet? A: a moron
17. annd even mor(on) Hanania
Ron ,   LA   (04.18.06)
Hanania sez: “Performing standup comedy In Dubai recently, I asked someone who had wealth, power and owned much property there what they made of the Palestine-Israeli conflict and the continued violence, and he replied very simply, “those on both sides who feed violence are morons.” Q: who can perform stand up comedy in Dubai and do great without even minimal sense of humor and at the same time ask very intelligent questions? Who is this brilliant virtuoso? A: a moron
18.  mor(on) Ray Hanania
Ron ,   LA   (04.18.06)
Hanania sez: My son was the first to raise his hand, and he proclaimed proudly, “our president is George Bush.” “What else do you know about him?” the teacher asked. “He started the Iraq war. My daddy says he is a moron.” Q: What kind of American would hire somebody without sense of humor? He, who trashes America and Americans in front of “enlightened” Arab audiences, who is making fun of the Western liberties, who is spitting on anything decent, who is glorifying evil, who pretends to be American, while disrespecting American values? who makes fun of 9 innocent souls on the same day of their murder, who has guts to do it in Israeli newspaper, In front of Jews and Gentiles who pray for their souls? whose blood is cold, when ours boiling? who doesn’t fear G-d? A: Moron
19. Funnier than Hanania comedy, see inside
Ron ,   LA   (04.18.06)
"The Israelis, Americans and the European Union are all wrong to deny funding to the democratically elected Hamas government. " From Morons to moderation Ray Hanania Ynet today edition "By resorting to such arguments, however, the Palestinians are again demonstrating their failure to fully grasp the meaning of such terms as "respecting democracy" and "collective," a fact that has become evermore apparent while the PA has continuously made use of the same old rhetoric-of-whine it has become so well familiar with. Had the Palestinians possessed a better understanding of "democracy" et al, they would realize that the world, led by the U.S. and Europe, has very much "respected" the Palestinian people's choice – and is now acting accordingly, in a way that may perhaps make Palestinians rethink this choice. Maybe. " Palestinians, confused again Yigal Walt, Ynet today edition
20. Not Morons -- Viciously Anti-Semitic Would-Be Genocides
howard ,   pacific coast, usa   (04.18.06)
It's important to see and speak the truth about the parties to the conflict. Namecalling ("moron," etc.) is not a contribution to improving things, but it IS important to see clearly and to explain what you see. The HAMAS leaders are not morons. They are, however, viciously anti-Semitic people who have committed themselves not so much to creating a Palestinian state, but rather to the destruction of the Israeli one and the slaughter of the Jews, after which some of them envision an aggressive attempt to impose "the caliphate" on their (unwilling) Lebanese, Jordanian and Egyptian neighbors. Their caliphate would not be a democratic Palestinian state, but rather a totalitarian pan-Islamist one. While there WERE forces for moderation in Palestinian society, Arafat and the terror gangs have done everything possible to smash them since 1994. There is no institution in Palestinian society today that has the ability and the will to conclude a binding peace with Israel -- the prerequisite to building a state. Given that HAMAS has pretty much declared that the PA is at war with Israel (their refusal to stop attacks from their territory makes them complicit in the attacks and in my book, if someone fires hundreds of rockets at your towns after you turn over territory to them, they are declaring war on you), what does one do? Not call them names, certainly, but definitely treat them as enemies rather than as potential partners. With enemies who insist on attacking you (because guess what? Iran and Syria are paying them to do so), you really don't have much choice but establish deterrence. Heck, it worked with HAMAS for a time. Ray isn't a moron either. He's also not HAMAS. I may disagree with him, but that doesn't make him stupid, and neither does it make him a genocidal lunatic.
21. Practice what you preach..
Dina ,   London, UK   (04.18.06)
I'm so sick of these armchair leftists who are so ready to sacrifice other peoples children for their supposedly liberal values. If you love the Palestinians so much why don't YOU get your kids to go play with their kids in Gaz and talk to them and set up home in Gaza. Funny but somehow I doubt you'd do that. You just expect other people to fight your ideological wars for you and for their children to pay the price.
22. Ray Hanania the comedian is the joke
Ali Reza ,   Iran, Tehran   (04.18.06)
Ha, ha you're funny. I'm surprised. I didn't think Pals had a sense of humour. Why are you living in the USA? Stop occupying the country you hate and go back to your cave in Arabia.
23. You're a good Christian, Ray Hananya
Caroline ,   Israel   (04.18.06)
I had much pleasure reading your article. I share your view of non-violence, restreint and tolerance for the sake of all the people living in our area. These are the basic rules of morality usually preached in a Christian Church. But you must agree that such a morality is no more good for two peoples who have already tried it and are now tired after decades of violence and fight for their existence. From the Israeli side, we have already given chance to Oslo and what have we got in return? Only more violence. Now we are ready to withdraw unilaterally leaving the Palestinians to decide their fate alone - this doesn't seem to please them neither. One more thing attracted my attention in your article: you talk about the land trade between the two nations. Did I read it correctly? I am asking again because your idea looks similar to what Mr Avigdor Lieberman's proposed in his party's program and for which he is being called all the names here. Gosh, I wouldn't believe you said this! But maybe this is our only chance to live peacefully as neighbours.
24. Ray, how often were you dropped on your head?
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica, CA   (04.18.06)
25. Caroline, don't lose faith and hope
Ray Hanania ,   Chicago, IL USA   (04.18.06)
Hey Caroline and others here: Don't lose hope or faith. What Islamic Jihad did needs to be responded to, and forcefully. But the response should be against the perpetrators, not the innocent Palestinians who continue to be the targets of Israeli vengeance. I am not a big supporter of Hamas and never have been, but I have learned from this newspaper that there are many Israelis who are far uglier than Hamas and who would kill innocent Palestinians and don't care. I think that as long as Hamas, the PNA government, does not engage in violence, Israel has a responsibility to respect their actions. Hamas was elected in Democratic elections. As much as I didn't like the results, I have to remember that MANY Israelis didn't like the other results of Arafat and his government and they did everything to undermine him ... I believe suicide bombing is a sin and should be condemned. A lesser sin but a sin nonetheless, is to steal someone elses land and give it to someone else, to evict people, to treat people as prisoners. The occupation is the problem. End it and maybe we can end this conflict. Or, keep listening to the voices of hatred who love to bash me, BUT NEVER SAY A WORD OF PEACE THAT IS FAIR TO BOTH SIDES. I pride myself in that important distinction. And the words of anger here don't hurt me one bit. Let's support peace, find it and work together to make it happen, and ignore the voices against peace who want this ugly violence to continue and do everything they can to make it happen. best regards and our prayers to ALL those who have died and who are dying in thsi conflict Ray Hanania www.hanania.com

29. Moronic culture Ray!!!
DR ,   Florida, USA   (04.18.06)
You keep comparing Israel to Palestinians and holding them to the same standards...why? It is clear that the Israeli culture is one of democracy, progress, and values. While Palestinians keep teaching violence, hate and Islamic rule. You have no basis for comparing the two sides. One is a modern state, trying to live a normal life, the other is a primitive, backewards culture who thrive on conflict and hate. If Israel was not there, they would all kill each other....am I wrong?
30. Non-violence and the media
Pam ,   Arizona   (04.18.06)
Ray, I absolutely agree with your opening statement. However, I recently discussed this very thing with a 20-something who said only terrorism works nowadays -- the media would tire too quickly of a Ghandi or a Martin Luther King Jr., and media coverage is everything. I hope he's wrong, but fear he's correct. Israeli and palestinian leaders are locked in a tango of mutual paranoia, provocation, and blame. At the first hint of deceleration, both sides inevitably get torpedoed by their respective super-hard-line extremists. But you are wrong about funding Hamas -- too many of the real leadership in Hamas ARE the hard-line extremists. Let Hamas stand up to the Arab world and say it wants to negotiate a lasting peace with Israel, global jihad be da**ed -- then and only then offer assistance.
