31. if the gays............
Yisraeli   (05.05.06)
can get permission to hold a parade in the Vatican and Mecca then try to call for a parade in Jerusalem, failing that have one on the Dead Sea. Sodom lies just beneath and that would be the right place for it.
32. Sexually oriented parades
Micha ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.05.06)
Why should there be a gay parade in any city, let alone the Holy City of Jerusalem? The whole concept of people publicly parading in order to show off their sexual orientation is ridiculous. Jerusalem is sacred and holy to millions of people throughout the world, and not just to Jews. In this city there should be no gay parades, heterosexual parades, pedophilia parades, masturbatory parades, or any other parade designed to flaunt one's sexual desires.
33. # 4 Well said
Ronald Hume ,   New Zealand   (05.05.06)
I absolutely agree with you. These degenerates need to keep their vile sick practices to themselves. Millions of believers in the Almighty G_d throughout the world take great umbrage knowing that our G_d will not take this lightly. They have no right to makethe Isreali nation an object of scorn. Jerusalem is G_ds Holy City. I say to Mayor Uri Lupolianski hear the words of G_d, "Awake, awake, O Zion, clothe yourself with strength. Put on your garments of splendour, O Jerusalem, the Holy City. The uncircumcised and defiled will not enter you again" Isaiah 52:1
34. Gay people
Michelle ,   USA   (05.05.06)
Start by loving yourselves. Each person involved knows that this lifestyle is totally dangerous. It's like playing Russian Roulette with your lives and the people in the gay community are their own worst enemies. I think that there are some that want to draw attention away from that, by making others believe that everything will be wonderful if they are just accepted. I also think that people do outrageous things to get their minds off serious things. Instead of doing this people have to be believing that escape is possible.
35. # 25 You don't know G_d
Ronald Hume ,   New Zealand   (05.05.06)
It's obvious from your remarks that you don't know the G_d of the Tanakh. Yes He is a loving G_d, but He is Holy and will not tolerate sin. Homosexuals in G_ds eyes are an abomination and He will judge them as He did with Sodom and Gomorrah. G_d is not mocked, what you sow you will reap.
36. # 29 correction
yakov shani ,   afula   (05.05.06)
It was not the god of Israel who called this natural phenomenon an abomination but rather the person or people who wrote, or commanded to write the Five Books of Moses. No human being has the right to term another human being as an abomination unless that person is overtly acting or plotting against his fellow humans. Furthermore, a stench does not emanate from anybody unless he has not bathed himself properly, wears dirty clothes or suffers from extreme body odour. As for your thoughts on wisdom, Jew, Muslim, Christian et al will only achieve peace and tolerance and understanding on the day that a general concensus is reached and a certain fact is recognized, namely that man invented god and not vice versa. This will never happen because most humans have feeble minds, such as yours, ergo there will never be peace and tranquillity in this world and misguided people such as you will continue to hold natural human beings in abomination and perceive an invisible stench. You are a sorry excuse for a member of the human race. In order to curb any conclusions you may have arrived at, I am a perfectly normal person, with a large family of children and grandchildren, against the holding of parades by the gay community but at the same time I am adamantly against your kind of bigotry. You belong in the dark ages or with the witch hunters in Salem.
37. # 36 Correction???
Ronald Hume ,   New Zealand   (05.05.06)
If anyone needs correcting it's you and the sad thing is that in all your years you have not gained any wisdom and so your children and grand-children will in all probabilty be doomed to the same fate. The Fool Has Said “There is no God”, the speaker cries. “Don’t let your thoughts be chained. This universe evolved itself, This world is self contained.” Just then an urchin in the crowd A skilful pebble throws Which accurately lands upon an atheistic nose. “Who threw that stone?” the speaker roars. At which the cockney elf, intuitively keen, retorts, “No one! It threw itself.” So a pathetic casualty, discomfited and worse, Goes home to meditate upon this causeless universe. Unknown author Psalm 10:4 “In his pride the wicked does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.” Psalm 53:1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." Note, “the fool says”, what the atheist really is saying “no God for me” because it’s impossible to deny an Almighty Living God.
38. I AM GAY & PROUD & DONT WANT IT IN JRSLM
(05.05.06)
IF THIS PARADE WAS JUST A "LETS BE GAY AND PROUD "THEN FINE..BUT TOO MANY OF US ARE FLAUNTING SEX IN EVERY ONES FACE..COME ON ARNT WE MISSING THE POINT HERE, WE WANT EQUALITY....DO WE REALY WANT TO SHOWER THE WORLD WITH OUR BEDROOM HABITS..CANT WE LEAVE SEX BEHIND CLOSED DOORS? LETS STICK TO THE ISSUE. I DONT UNDERSTAND THE NEED TO WALK WITH TITS OUT, OR A SKIMPY "G" STRING. WE WANT RESPECT , SO PLEASE SHOW A BIT OF RESPECT FOR OTHER PEOPLE TOO.
39. # 37 Greetings
yakov shani ,   afula   (05.05.06)
To you sir and the wonderful country you live in. It is without doubt the closest thing to paradise on earth and in the main populated with normal human beings. I wish you and yours well, I have no ill feelings for anyone and I only wish to promote respect among people, all people, unfortunately extremity in matters of religion negates this challenge and achieves the exact opposite. The proof of this is prevalent and manifest throughout the entire world and cannot be denied other than by meaningless arsenic laced rhetoric. Best wishes to you from the cradle of humanity and from one of those who were chosen to be a "light unto the nations". It is so unfortunate that the nations wish to live in total darkness. How sad.

41. The sin is the abomination - not the man
Stan Goodenough ,   Jerusalem   (05.05.06)
G-d does not call sinful man an abomination, only his actions. He loves all men. He hates our sin. Note I said "our," for all men have sinned. It is our unholy behaviour that stinks in the nostrils of a holy G-d. We should repent of, and not perpetuate those deeds. G-d is not mocked. What we sow we will reap. He is, however, gracious and merciful to forgive us - PROVIDED we repent. Rebelliously insisting that our sin is not sin will, because He is righteous and just, bring upon us the judgment we fully deserve.
42. No more gay bashing!
Eli Reuven ,   Newton USA   (05.05.06)
The efficacy of gay parades with regard to eliminating descrimination against gays is arguable. But the gay bashing present in these comments is not; it is disgusting!

44. Hold the parade in Sdom and the Dead Sea
A Jew   (05.05.06)
Lots of hotel space at the Dead Sea. Let them hold the parade in Sdom.
45. Where are the mainstream gays?
From Jerusalem   (05.05.06)
I'll bet there are a lot of ordinary people out there who are homosexuals and lesbians who don't feel inclined to parade their orientation down Jerusalem's main street. Where are your voices? These others are giving you a bad name.
46. SK # 10
keren ,   sao paulo   (05.05.06)
Hi SK, "...so, too, it is an outrage that gay Jews cannot engage in political actions in Jerusalem. ..." Is that a political action? What´s the goal then? Can you explain it to me? Is that a fight for legal rights? Why to make it in Jerusalem, which is known as holy place? I can not understand their goal... I just think that that kind of parades are agressive, although with an happy appearence. I don´t see reason for them to impose an, at least, unconventional behaivior to others. I personally, don´t care about them and don´t judge them, but I don´t like those demonstrations because they bare indecency, and I don´t see nothing good in indecency. I am not a false moralist at all,but I think what is private must be kept private. Intimacy is not to be shared to all.
47. To all the narrow minded people...
Andy   (05.05.06)
I will be there, a Jew with my Jewish boyfriend, just two normal, workaday people. The democratic State of Israel is bigger than the mean spirited Jerusalem City Council and its' so-called religious members. We will have the rights that are ours under the law in our beloved capital city. And thank God Israel is a liberal, democratic country still. What we have to prove and what we will prove is that we are here and we are equal to straight people in every way, under the law and in God's eyes. We have fought in all of Israel's wars and have been a part of this nation since Sinai. And we are here to stay. No better place than our beloved Jerusalem to make this known.
48. Re: Where are the mainstream gays?
Shmuel Addams ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.05.06)
The answer is they are doing the same thing mainstream heterosexuals are doing, that is, managing their sexual lives in a quiet and modest fashion, with little or no fanfare. No one, gay or straight, should have to go on the defensive against the more obnoxious forms of sexual behaviour, whether homo, hetero, or whatever. That said, a little compassion toward a traditionally discriminated-against and misunderstood group would go a long way toward restoring some sanity to this "divided" city.
49. Gays
Daniel ,   Australia   (05.05.06)
There is no reason why they shouldnt march. Israel is a democracy, with freedom of speech. If they feel proud, then let them march. However, it probably would not be in their best interest to.
50. #5
Sim ,   Australia   (05.05.06)
Seriously Adina, grow up already ... you are such a moody little creature, aren't you? Always whinging about one thing or another ... buffoon
51. This is not bigotry
Brod ,   Marshall, USA   (05.05.06)
This is not bigotry. God loves His creation and wants them to abide by His Commandments. It would be well for those who parade their lifestyle to see what the Creator has to say about this issue. They are found in Proverbs 1:7, Leviticus 18:22, Leviticus 18:29, Leviticus 20:13, and 1Corinthians 6:9-10.
52. question
RobertK ,   Jerusalem   (05.05.06)
Why the hell would ANYONE want to have a "parade" of intimate relations? What kind of mentality do you have if you want to do this? I'm sure there are gay people who think it's ridiculous. And no, gays are not the same as everyone else. They can't naturally have children with each other. That's a big difference. That's why homosexuality is a misinformation. Gay people should be treated well by society, but gayness should not be ENCOURAGED.
53. Suggestion
yakov shani ,   afula   (05.05.06)
Let's have a parade of normal people in Jerusalem. Just to "prove" to the "gays" that we are "straight". We could have good fun waving all sorts of 'straight' flags and shouting "straight " slogans and 'proving" ourselves. Finally we would "come out" and be "accepted" by our fellow beings. Folks, do yourselves and all of us a favour, keep yourselves to yourselves and spare us the public disruption, or maybe try The Vatican, it is after all a free democratic state.
54. Parade
john Neuman ,   London, UK   (05.05.06)
I have never seen or read such a collection of amazingly bigoted rubbish in my life. It's stunning that people STILL think quoting chunks of mis-translated "scripture" is a rational way to deal with the fact that they have not yet been able to kill all the homosexuals. Gays exist, they live in Israel, they are citizens, they parade - end of story.
55. # 51 Excellent
Ronald Hume ,   New Zealand   (05.06.06)
Thank you for your comments. I hope many will take your advice and read the word of G_d. I don't hate the homosexuals I pray that they will repent and SEEK the TRUTH, which can only be found in Christ Jesus. If anyone reading this sincerely wishes to know the truth prayerfully read the gospel of John found in the New Testament. G_ds way of salvation is set out very clearly . "The LORD your God ..., he is mighty to save" Zepniah 3:17
56. # 54 Not end of story
Ronald Hume ,   New Zealand   (05.06.06)
I'm not sure where you get your "chunks of mis-translated scripture" from. Know this " the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." Hebrews 4:12-13. You can be wrong about a lot of things in life and it won't matter but ETERNITY IS THE WRONG THING TO BE WRONG ABOUT.
57. To all perverted minded people
Lyn ,   USA   (05.06.06)
Andy...to choose to pervert your life and give up your soul is your choice...thankfully, however, to pervert the Holy City is not!

59. to the rabidly anti-gay goyim in these talkbacks
sk ,   USA   (05.06.06)
It figures that you are the most vicious, and yet, your opinions regarding Jerusalem are not even relevant. Jerusalem is not "the Holy City"; it is the eternal capitol of the JEWISH PEOPLE. Jews have a PARTICULAR right to political assembly in their capitol. Currently, this capitol is disprespected by the government (rumor has it that it has become a dump) and desecrated by innumerable mosques, including three abominations on the Temple Mount itself, as well as a band of Moslem squatters. Sorry, but even anti-gay Jews (as I've said, the anti-gay goyim are irrelevant here) should have more important priorities than a gay rights march.
60. reply to #46 (Keren)
sk ,   USA   (05.06.06)
Keren, you ask if the planned march in Jerusalem is a political action, and, if so, what the goal is. Now, I'm just sitting here like you, reading Ynet, so I have no special knowledge about this march in particular. With that disclaimer ... This news story quotes elected officials including the major of Jerusalem, the eternal Jewish capitol, speaking with derision about gay Jews, including, apparently, some of their constituents (aren't all Jews constituents when it comes to Jerusalem?). The fact that this march is being organized in Jerusalem as opposed to Tel Aviv is almost certainly an effort to reject this kind of anti-gay treatment both in Jerusalem and among the haredim more generally. In addition, the comments about "East" Jerusalem and "racism" suggest to me that another point of the march is to highlight the problems faced by gay Arabs. Tel Aviv is much better suited to a gay pride march. On the other hand, a march there is much less political because gay rights there are much better protected. I have no great love for most of the politics of these gay rights organizers. They are probably disproportionately Meretz voters, in fact. You complain about "bare indecency." I am not sure how literally I should read these words. There is nothing wrong with handing out tickets to marchers who wear g-strings or to lesbians who take off their shirts (not sure if this would happen). However, I competely disagree with you when you refer to sexual orientation as a "private" or an "intimate" thing. No, it's not. There is nothing more public than a heterosexual orientation. Every photo of one's family and every wedding ring declares it. When people talk about "keeping your sexual orientation private" what they are really saying is that being gay should be kept a dirty little secret. Gay pride marches are supposed to be saying, enough with the secrets. There is a difference between one's orientation which is not a "private" issue at all, and what specifically one likes to do in bed with whom, which is indeed "private."
