The settlers think they are above the law - the result may be that IDF personnel lose their lives trying to rescue lunatics who think that defying IDF recommendations and common sense is somehow a confirmation of their faith. I commute to Jerusalem and every day I take 3 or 4 trampists en route. Most trampists wait at bus stops in safe locations by entrances to a yishuv (those trampists were "isolated" less than 5 minutes from the Ariel police station).
