31. Ashkelon horror story
Ed in Oakland ,   oakland   (07.04.06)
You guys are out of your minds. For flying one cardboard tube in your direction, the appropriate penalty is destruction of a city ? Cruelty is addictive...
32. Strategy of failure
Gene ,   Israel   (07.04.06)
Israel is in the middle of a very dangerous development. First, we "got used" to quassam fire on Sderot and other small communities around Gaza. Today rockets started to fall on Ashkelon. Our goverment will say - "There is no magic solution", and install a "Red Dawn" alert system. Slowly we will get used to live under a rocket fire. Then arabs will start firing "Grad" rockets on Ashdod..... This tactic will lead Israel to another catastrophe. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!!! If you want to win a war, you've got to remove white gloves! STOP WAISTING SHELLS ON THE SAND DUNES! We shall fight hard, or there will be no Israel.........

Guys, You don't have the truth. The Isreali propoganda is now over. In fact Israel has not withdrowen from Gaza, it continued an inderect occupation. Just Yesterday Israel attaked a Palestinian University. Two days ago, the Israelis destoryed the main electricity station in Gaza. What is the difference batween blood and blood! Nothing , we all huiman beings and deserve better lives. Israel still keeping more than 10000 prisoners. they have kids and families. This occupation MUST OVER. INDEED THE PALESTINIAN RESISTANCE IS LEGITIMATE AND IT IS ALSO CREATIVE AND STRONG!
34. Congratulations, Hamas
Salman ,   Jerusalem - Palestin   (07.04.06)
GO HAMAS GO. WELL DONE, MORE ROCKETS TILL ULMERT GIVES UP!!!!!!!!!!!
35. Re: "Congratulations, Hamas" - #34
Kate ,   London, UK   (07.04.06)
I really don't think you can possibly understand the consequences of this. Had the rocket killed schoolchildren, full-scale war would have broken out and nobody, not the U.S., the EU, the UN could have stopped it. It is a war that would Israel would have won and any possibility of a Palestinian state would have disappeared along with your militias and terrorist groups.
36. How Much Longer....
Rick S. ,   L.A.   (07.04.06)
...before the Israelis wise up and kick Olmert & Co out og the gov't? They are dangerous to the safety & security of Israel. If Olmert wants to be liked bu Europe than let him move there. His leftist family will feel quite at home there. Israel has never had a gov't led by so many spineless cowards & appeasers.
37. BIGGGGGGG DEAL!

40. To ED in Oakland,#31
Gene ,   Israel   (07.04.06)
Ed, I suppose that you live in New Zealand. Beatiful place. Now, imagine that your country is under constant attacks from your neighbour with rockets (sometimes a dozen per day), suicide bombers, snipers and other stuff. Then imagine that you live in this shit for years. Sound great doesn't it? Would you want this situation to continue for you? It is easy to be gentle in Oakland.... Come here and see for yourself. By the way, this "cardboard tube" may kill you in several meters radius.
41. ashkelon arab land
sameer ,   jerusalem   (07.04.06)
the fact is that askelon is a palestinien occupied land, its legal residents are refugees, if you wep out gaza what you will do for the remaining 8 million refugees waiting to come home land.....i think we need to think how to solve this problem without war.
42. Rocket Attack in Ashkelon: To Salman
lynne wooldridge ,   austin, texas usa   (07.04.06)
I respect your right to your opinion, but honestly, we need voices for peace. All violence on both sides should stop. IDF is avoiding attacking civilians. Hamas desires the destruction of Israel and harm to innocent people. How can this be good? There must be respect for life and the recognition that all human life has value. Peace and caring are the only reasonable solutions.
43. Ashkelon To: #33 Ramallah in Palestine
lynne wooldridge ,   austin, texas usa   (07.04.06)
I agree that the situation is complex and that a peaceful solution is the best possible outcome. First, the attacks against Israel must stop. Frankly, they have shown remarkable restraint in view of the terrorist attacks, rocket attacks, and the constant threats of Israeli life. The prisoners are not been tormented or tortured, and it is hoped that in time, they can be returned to their homes. Where can compromise and a peaceful solution be found when Hamas calls for Israel's destruction? A foundation for peace must be built, and that is not peaceful talk. I am a great admirer of Abbas, and have hoped that through his leadership, he and Olmert could forge peace. Terrorist attacks are not effective solutions, nor moral solutions. If it were left to me, I'd have the leaders sit down and map out a plan for peace. Terrorism is not creative nor justifiable under any circumstances.

50. Is it time to talk to Hamas?
Daniel ,   North Tel Aviv   (07.04.06)
This attack shows that there is no military answer to our problems. Let us face the reality, Hamas attacks will become more and more sophisticated and deadly as they acquire the know-how from abroad. Also, it is a matter of time before we see rockets launched from the west bank into israeli cities. WE simply do not have an answer to this threat and we must admit that war is making Israel less secure by the day. Talk to Haniya and Abbas, accept the arab league initiative and lets end this Mayhem. Daniel, the voice of reason

52. YOU WERE GIVEN A WARNING ONLY YESTERDAY
Abdul Ghani ,   Abu Dhabi   (07.04.06)
Only yesterday Hamas warned IDF that if they continue to target Palestinian infrastructure, they will target the infrasture of israle (power stations, schools, etc). Only last night F16's hit the Islamic University theature in Gaza City let alone the Power Station and bridges of Gaza Strip !! and you do not want retaliation; eye for eye. I think you should sit back and think a bit and go for peace negotiations and ceasfire with the Palestinians since the latter have nothing to more lose.
53. Oh Snap!
James ,   USA   (07.04.06)
Alright now stop... HAMMER TIME!!
54. Palestinians have right to defend themselves

56. C'mon!!
Fine ,   AShkelon   (07.04.06)
All of you writing about Israel bombing Gaza... Give me a break! You hear and believewhat yu want and none of you search for the real truth. Even Jerusalem is not specifically mentioned in the Koran. Israel was the birth place of Jesus of Nazereth, which happens to be Israel, and he was Jewish. So at least the christians among you shoud realize that Jews have always been here in Israel. If you know your bible you know that it was promised to Jews by God, and any Palestine that you hear of was the name given by the Turks who ruled the area and then by the British who ruled thereafter-there was NEVER a Palestinian ruling government. Why no uproar at the Turks or British back then??? And what about the U.S. who did it originally belong to?? Yes, the Indians. They were mostly just killed off-great solution huh?? Terrorsts act from populated neigbourhoods and from universities and so forth-they do not have separate areas in order to protect their own population. They are a danger to their civilians, hiding behind women and children. Look for truth and not palestinian propoganda, search and you will find. Then your opinion ,which is still an opinion, not a truth, will be worth consideration.

Dear Marcel, why to imagine if Israel had fired a rocket into Palestinian school, Israel already did
59. Where is Ms. Prescott?
jps ,   Efrat   (07.05.06)
This is the perfect revolutionary's line just waiting for her to say it!: The Palestinians were forced to defend themselves by blowing up an Israeli high school (and, btw, are we (and they) lucky they didn't kill a dozen or more kids). Israel made 'em do it, of course! It's the absolute kneejerk extreme leftist comment, just like the kneejerk extreme rightist comment we know and love: "Your Honor, the accused attacked the police officer's knee with his groin..." This is like a breathe mint commercial - Stop! You're both right! I
