1. If true...
Shai ,   Israel   (07.10.06)
...we can expect a lot more kidnappings.
2. For the sake of Israel...I hope it's not true!
Sabientje ,   Weston, USA   (07.10.06)
Does Israel know what a precedent it is setting by agreeing to do this? It will invite endless kidnappings, not only of Israeli soldiers but also of civilians. What is wrong with you people? WAKE UP!!!! You must not negotiate with terrorist. You must hit them where it hurts them the most. IDF is already adding enough heat to the Hamas government wherein they are almost begging for a cease fire. Keep up the heat. Burn their weapons depots, annihilate their militant's leaders. The world is behind Israel in its self-defense incursions. Go into Gaza and clean up the area of those murderers and cold-blooded killers. Please...do not give in to pressure from the Liberal lefties. The precedent Israel sets in Gaza concerning terrorists' actions will be followed by other countries.
3. The French will pay for this betrayal
Tami   (07.10.06)
4. Burn their weapons depots? Why?
James ,   Londonistan uk   (07.10.06)
How insane. Why spend millions of dollars on new rifles and other weapons for the Hamas, sorry PA, for us to destroy them? Waste of money. Anyway, I wouldn't believe a word an arab paper says but then again I don't believe a word Omlet and Pretzel say. It would be quite telling however if an arab paper is more truthful than these two and their leader Shimon Shmeres.

8. israel wants peace?
bobby ,   midland TX USA   (07.10.06)
Since when does Israel want peace? Has everyone forgotten that this soldier was kidnapped after Israel massacred a family having a picnic?..that Israel arrived 60 years ago in the British colony of Palestine, took over, and made war on every single neighbor it could find?? Israel needs to move to Alaska or back to Europe, as Ahmadinejad recommended.
9. Do not arrest more Pals, you will not be kidnapped!
Palestinian   (07.10.06)
10. France
Francois ,   Paris & MontrĂ©al   (07.10.06)
France wants to humiliate Israel, that's why the French want Israel to surrender to this blackmail.
11. The problem with #8
Tali ,   Ottawa Ontario   (07.10.06)
He represents a good part of the world which truly subscribes to lies, myths, revisionist history ingnring basic facts and truth. One would think with the wealth of absolute facts it might shatter the lies myths and revisionist history however one only sees what what desires to see. There lies the rub indeed.

What makes you think that making Palestinians pay a severe penalty, and giving them no gain for kidnapping our people, won't lead to less kidnappings?

1) Not even independent experts agree that the family killed was killed by Israeli fire. Israel claims they didn't do it, and they have proved time and again that they are doing their best to avoid civilian casualties, by doing much more even than the Americans and British think necessary in the context of their own war in Iraq. There is a reason to believe the Israelis, then. By way of contrast, Palestinians aim for civilians, time and time and time again, and celebrate by distributing candies when we're hit. Logically, doesn't it make more sense that the Palestinians botched a trap and this led to the family's death, when life, be it ours or theirs, is valued as less than a propaganda gain by Palestinians? 2) Israel arrived well before "60 years ago". Look up "Kingdom of Israel" and "Kingdom of Judea" in wikipedia, note the period they existed in, and educate yourself. We are not strangers to this Land, and we never abandoned it.. We were removed, and now we are back. But since there were some Arabs here, this had to be accommodated for. There was no interest to take lands belonging to others, but to buy them. So that's what we did. Most of the remainder of the land is legally state land under the Ottoman Law that preceded us, and it remains state land to this day. The modern secularist Zionist movement began in the 1880's, but there was religiously motivated Jewish presence here since the dispersion 2000 years ago, albeit small by comparison to today's Jewish population. Until the late 1920's, most Zionists (the Jabotinsky Revisionists of Betar are probably the major exception) were looking to build a state in cooperation with Arabs. It was the Arabs who rejected the Jews, not the reverse. Arabs who were cooperative in this venture, or who wanted to be, were "silenced" by the ancestors of today's Palestinian terrorists. That sometimes was a threat, but when a threat wasn't enough it meant forced exile or even death. Jews took the only remaining choice - to fight against those who wished to destroy them. We've been doing that since. BTW, "Bobby" doesn't sound like a Native American name. It doesn't sound Mexican either (Texas was part of Mexico). Since you seem to feel it's your place to advise us on our moving plans, may we Israelis ask you to where your self-righteousness drives you to move, Bobby?
23. #8 Enough bull talk ,it smells bad
rachel ,   boston ,usa   (07.10.06)
1.Another lie ...It was another palliwood movie . They have a good propaganda machine(remember who else had a good propaganda machine in world war 2?) BUT YOU SHOULD KNOW BOBBY FROM TEXAS!!!! It was proven that the Israeli did not kill that family on that beach. So stop telling lies..... 2. Who the hell are you bobby from Texas ? What the hell do you know about the middle east ? ...There were many Jews and Chistians living all around the middle east. .About 850 000 jews were kicked out of the arab countries alone . My great great grandmother was from Hebron . My grandfather was from Egypt ...So don't tell me the indigenous jews don't belong in the middle east bobby from Texas ...If you are so concerned ,why don't you work to give back the land to the Native Americans. ....Maybe we should give back Pakistan to India? or maybe Cuba to the miami cuban?ect.....ect...OR MAYBE BRING BACK SLAVERY YOU MISS IT DON'T YOU? .But bobby from texas continue working for your friends .You were partners during world war 2 and you are partners now .....MOSLEM BROTHERHOOD =HAMAS=NAZIS......YOU DON'T FOOL US.....BOBBY FROM TEXAS.

David   (07.10.06)
A very well written and concise retort to a statement made by an obvious antisemite. Keep it up For all of us Thanks
25. To Bobby Midland,Tx
David   (07.10.06)
Just for the record-the US army slaughtered millions of Native Americans-remember? Thousands of innocents massacred in Iraq-by the same US army. But I guess Americans live by a different standard than the rest of the world!!!
26. The whole thing is from Al Hayat. It's rubbish.
D- ,   San Diego, USA   (07.10.06)
I don't know why Ynet reproduced it. But does I was getting pretty confident that it was rubbish up to the point where France said they wouldn't recieve a POW with French citizenship. LOL. That was the clincher. Ynet, you GOTTA BE KIDDING !!!
27. Yes Israel wants peace
Jerry Meents ,   Ogden, Utah. USA   (07.10.06)
He bobby start buying some other news papers or switch television stations. There is no prove that Israel has commited any massacre on any beach, news papers and tv stations in Europe could not find any proof, interviewed socalled victims and reportes and could not come to the conclusion that Israel fired a shell and hit this family. Please start doing you home work and read the history of Israel, only from 1948 and until now about the wars they had to fight. You don't have to go farther back in history because I know you can not read to well.. The Israelis will go back to Europe when you go back there, you are living on land taken over from the American Indian. If you are so worried about those poor Palestinians having there country, they never had, taken way, give your property to a American Indian.
28. To Shai on Anti-Americanism
Alex ,   USA   (07.11.06)
You probably will not see this because it is late in my day and so very early in the morning in Israel. Nevertheless, you asked me yesterday to be less judgmental about anti-Americanism on this site. Let's look at #25: "US army slaughtered MILLIONS of Native Americans." Fact or anti-American propoaganda? Not fact. "THOUSANDS of innocents massacred in Iraq by the same US Army." Fact or anti-American propaganda? Not fact. I am trying to believe your claim that Israelis are pro-American. I notice, however, that not one single Israeli came to the defense of the American presence in Iraq or rebutted history according to Ward Churchill. Perhaps the thought was that Bobby is an anti-Semitic American and so that excuses general anti-Americanism. Let's try generalizing that argument: if I started spouting anti-Semitic nonsense because David is an anti-American Jew, that is OK?
29. Sign of Weakness
Harold Tobin ,   Barnet UK   (07.11.06)
We all want to see this crime come to a happy and peaceful conclusion but it can`t be done at any price. Hammas will claim this as a victory and go on to commit even more brutal acts of violence. If there are future kidnappings and there is nobody left to exchange will we negotiate on Jerusalem and so on till we have to exchange Israel?
30. #28 Alex
David   (07.11.06)
The fact is that I am not anti-American. In fact I fully support the US's war in Iraq(collateral damage is part of war) My statements were meant to make a very necessary point to an obvious anti-Israel comment. The war the US is waging in Iraq is the same war the Israelis are fighting. My comments on the American Indian might have been slightly exagerated but one cannot deny that an entire RACE OF PEOPLE WERE CONQUERED AND BROUGHT TO SUBMISSION FOR TERRITORIAL GAIN. Both the US and Israel have skeletons but so has every nation throughout history. Give Israel a break!!!! No other nation in history has ever returned strategic lands conquered during a defensive war. No other nation on earth would allow an enemy state on its border to bombard it daily without retalliation-no matter what the civilian casualty rate would be(remember Hiroshima?). Israel has exercised immense restraint-can you imagine what would happen if the IDF pulled of its gloves and really took care of business?
