31. B.S. Palestinians don't need advice from NYT, WSJ
Linda ,   Dallas   (07.11.06)
Ending Jewish occupation in Palestine is the only and the quickest way to end this conflict.
32. Smart Arabs will continue the fight until the full
Palestinian   (07.11.06)
liberation of all Palestine. Israel did not involve in Oslo talks but until the first Intifada! Israel did not withdraw from Gaza but becuase of the strong resistance to its occupation. Sooner or later, you will do the same from the West bank! Negev, and the Galiliee...! You will live and see who is the smarter....
33. Insightful observations by Youssef Ibrahim
Samuel Prime ,   Canada   (07.11.06)
Some Arabs do have a head on their shoulders after all, and I commend them, unlike the Hamas kind of Arabs who are the barbaric end of the spectrum, without logic, sense, or reason for the realities before them.
34. Will the Arab press print it?
Robby ,   San Jose, USA   (07.11.06)
I've forwarded the link Al Jazeera asking them to print it: http://www.nysun.com/article/35606 If you agree please do the same: http://english.aljazeera.net/HomePage And any other Arab papers you can write too.
35. HAMAS GOVERNMENT
JS ,   London   (07.11.06)
I would like to believe that the Hamas were so overwhelmingly elected as a protest to Arafat Era and the corrupt Fatah which the pals street finally recognised is incapable to deliver nothing but and poverty & misery. Of course, the other reason is that if you are brought up from childhood, with the unquestional belief that Israel is the only one to blame for this misery, you try somebody else. Hamas was the only one available. All human nature. In my opinion, Israel made a serioius mistake. It is common practice to a allow any new government a 100 days in office and then assess their course of action & achievements. Israel should have allowed the same rule here, particularly, when even Hamas was caught by surprise with the overwhelming election results. It should not have put the economic sanctions in place, until it sees what the Hamas will achieve during this internationally acceptable period. It should have publicly declared it reserves its right to react in kind, should a terrorist government remain terrorist. It would have gained all the media and world backing. That is if one is over optimistic that they are not biased. SOME WISHFUL THINKING! FINALLY, after some 58 years of bloodshed, a respectable Arab writer, decided it is high time to place the wrongs where it belongs and say it PUBLICLY. This is the CRUCIAL point. CONGRATULATIONS SIR ! I truly hope more like you will come forward and Inshallah finally, bring some light to this part of the world. IT IS BADLY NEEDED!
36. WOW, some light at the end of the tunnel

38. #30 -Agree with you 100% Re: Ellen Prescott
Sabientje ,   Weston, USA   (07.11.06)
I totally agree with you on this comment you've made. Furthermore, for all of us who read Ynet and the talkbacks, it has been clearly obvious that "Ellen Prescott," "Rustum” and other aliases are being used by the same degenerate and pathetically delusional Palestinian pretending to be an Englishwoman and also a male Brit. For all we know, this individual suffers from multiple personalities but all of them fall under the category of a sick individual who focuses on a deep-rooted hatred for Israel and its citizens. We could all turn this hermaphrodite / Palestinian terrorist / so called English Androgyne** / frustrated Arab swine into the laughing stock of this website community. When we stop responding to his/her/its comments...we give him/her/it the worst insult: total indifference and no medium to acknowledge his/her/its demented comments. I said it before…when Ellen Prescott, aka Rustum, etc., etc., took an enema, the contents were spewing at the wrong end. **Androgyne: Someone who identifies as neither male nor female, or as both. Intersexed: A person whose biological sex doesn't fit neatly into the male or female categories
39. Re: Hamas Government
Robert Tilden ,   Sheridan, WY, USA   (07.11.06)
Why wait 100 days? Is there any chance that order would come on the Palestinian side in 100 days? Hamas was elected in January, we are in July. For the first week there was shock on the Arab side, then Fatah gunmen started to be active again, against Hamas, then Hamas reacted against Fatah, finally they desided to work together against the common foe- Israel. This was all played out. While appologists for the Palestinian people claim they blamed Fatah for their bad situation and corruption, a new election according to this line of thought would kick Hamas out of office, the school teachers havn't gotten pay in months, they can blame it on Hamas's refusal to go threw the three demands made of it by the doner countries. The truth is that they don't blame Hamas, its always America, Israel etc... Why did they freely of their own free will dance on the roof tops on 9/11 of 2001? They need to put the blame where it stands on themselves, as this lone jurnalist has.
40. Raj from India. God bless you

41. No One Cares Anymore...
David ,   New York/Tel Aviv   (07.11.06)
About the Pals and their cause. In the U.S, there's been almost zero coverage of the Gaza incursions. Nothing on CNN, nothing in the major newspapers. Even in the BBC it's no longer in the top headlines. This isn't like in 2002 when there was widespread condemnation of Israel's west bank invasion. the PA has noticed and they're shocked by the world's "silence." What changed? Well, the Pals voted Hamas into office, kept attacking Israel after the Gaza pullout, talked more about destroying Israel and less about "occupation," etc. The result: the world, even the Arab world, is sick of the Palestinians self-destructive behavior. And guess what? The world is much more interested in the world cup and north korea. The pals can still get the upper hand by stopping terror and negotiating with Israel. But they are finally learning (I hope) that counting on the world to step in and fight their suicidal battles for them ain't gonna happen. Stop the terror, accept Israel's right to exist, and finally get a state in the west bank and gaza. Keep trying to destroy Israel, and you'll end up with nothing.
42. Israel refuses reconciliation of Arabs
yohan ,   amsterdam   (07.11.06)
Hamas gov. offred for Long term cease fire and recognised Israel. but israel gave her back. you are misinformed Mr. youssef.
43. #21 Karim, morroco is RIGHT!
blasater ,   cherrrytown usa   (07.11.06)
Let the arabs vote. Then when the arabs attack, which they will, Israel can once and for all win Eretz Israel and forever permanently claim the land that has been G-D given to the Jewish people for 3000 years.
44. Amen to that!
Talula ,   Israel   (07.11.06)
At last, an educated intelligent Arab who cares about his people's future. Well done to him for writing this.
45. "palestinians prefer death over living in peace with Jews.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Santa Monica, CA   (07.11.06)
They will never change, they love hate way to much to be reasonable.
46. Linda; There is no "Palestine" idiot!
Palestiniansaremyth ,   USA   (07.11.06)
There has never been a "Palestinian" nation or people! The conflict will be solved when Arabs stop occupying Jewish land!
47. Look at the talkbacks here, try talking to a brick wall
Caligula's Horse ,   Solomon's Stables   (07.11.06)
Oh well, like you said, they are the only ones losing, it took the Egyptians 30 years to realise that peace is better than war, maybe the Palestinians need some more time to realise they cannot defeat a regional superpower with drugged suicide bombers and flying metal bars. It's all your loss.
48. #42 yohan
gm ,   south africa   (07.11.06)
I think you have been smoking too much in that part of the world. Hamas offered a long term cease fire and then started firing qassams into Sedorot (over 1000 in that last 11 months). Also how would you feel if someone said, we'll tolerate you, but you don' have a right to exist??? Hamas never offered that they would recognise Israel's right to exist - YOU are misinformed, Yohan.
49. #21 vote?
linda   (07.11.06)
Are you totaly crazy? it has nothing to do with the rest of the Arab world, it is between us and the pals. and if you say that all Arabs would say no you are racist.no realisic, because Jews belong in the Middle east. Arab countries use the 'israel/palestinan' problem so there own people will have something to do and not focus on there own shit. It keeps them in controle as dictators. And you in Marocco arn't arabic, you arabs stole marocco from the real maroccans. But maybe we should ask Europe's orginal people if they want all the muslims in or out of Europe!! You know what the answer is? YESSSSSSSSSSS pleaseeeeeeeeeeee! And for the journalist, first time I heard an Arab with brains speaking! kol hakavod.

Ibrahim Yousef's opinion was long awaited. It is time the leaderhip in gaza, acknowledge the realities of the situation. Willingly or not, they have committed one blunder after another since 1948 and even now they are in search of catastrophes which is a matter of great sadness for everbody concerned with the Middle East.
