Interesting how now one follows what happened to all the money that Yasser Arafat stole from the palestinian people. It is time for urban renewal. There is no reason that a "palestinian refugee camp" should exist anywhere. The squalor has and is being used for political gain. The the holding of CPL Shalit and the "Summer Rains" Action by israel is also a propaganda ploy. All one has to do is read the European newspapers.

Dont tell me what to do..what I focus on is none of your business. Our dictators are in fact pro-Israel, that's why they stand there and do nothing while the criminal Israeli government is killing people in Gaza. They just act like they are not pro-Israel, but everyone knows they really not. Once we restore true democracy, and once the PEOPLE rule themselves, Israel will no longer be able to kill people like that, and make no mistake it will end the occupation sooner than this. There is nothing racist in saying NO to the first terrorist state of the Middle East. There is nothing racist in saying NO to the state that punishes innocent people with impunity There is nothing racist in saying NO to the state that starve millions of innocent people There is nothing racist in saying NO to the state that cuts water to thousands of people, including children There is nothing racist in saying NO to the state that stole lands from their owners, created millions of refugees and still denies its crimes Saying NO means saying NO to this immoral Zionist idealogy that is responsible for these wars and killings. It means NO to the Israeli regime, the oppressive regime. It doesn't mean saying NO to the Jews. Most Arabs do not want to recognize Israel for a good reason. We are not crazy. Your people are the crazy ones who believe God gave them some land. We are free to recognize whoever we want. I know that most Moroccans will not accept an Israeli embassy and an Israeli flag (flag of oppression) in our capital Rabat. I think most Arabs feel the same. I will give it at least 2 generations before there is chance of people forgetting. My kids will certainly learn about the crimes of Israeli government and the Zionist ideology because I will teach them. Maybe their kids would know less, and so on.
63. To keren, Sao Paulo. LAND ROBBERY
Karim ,   Morocco   (07.11.06)
Israel was founded on land theft. It is that simple. If you look at the population that inhabited Israel in 1984 itself, 70% of it was FOREIGN BORN. Look it up. It is documented by the Israeli government itself. Of course your lying Zionists keep telling you they bought an entire country (biggest hoax) but if they did why don't you ask them how they have been buying lands in the occupied territories since 1967? How did your lying Zionists buy lands in Gaza? or in Yamit in the Sinai before the fundamentalist land theives were forced to leave? The truth is, which we all know, is that no one bought anything (very few did). It is all confiscated, stolen by force from the natives. That's the reason why TODAY, except for Arab-Israeli, no one Israel owns ANY PIECE of land. It is all owned (aka stolen) by that RACIST Jewish National Fund that for a long time refused to lease lands to non-Jews. This is not a self-delusion, but only a reflection of facts and of reality. The delusion is your promised land, the delusion is that God only chose one single people, with a specific religion, for some land. It is one of the biggest hoaxes of history and unfortunately it has made it into people's religious beliefs so they don't question it. This is not about hate. It is about RIGHTS. It is our duty to stand by the rights of OPPRESSED people, people who carry sadness and sorrow in their hearts. THe Palestinians still have keys to their houses stolen by the land theives. Name me one Zionist theif who had such thing? NONE. The only thing they had is some religious brainwash, some promised land non-sense, and FORCE and TERROR. As to our progress, well it is none of your business. I prefer Morocco to Israel 100 times. Life is not always about money, highways and such. It is about quality of life. I can live in Morocco with a free conscience. you can't do that in Israel because one way or the other, you might walking in some old Palestinian village that destroyed by your land theives while their inhabitants are forced to live in some refugee camp few miles away. Free from Israeli oppression.

But but first Israel has to evacuate ALL illegal settlements in the occupied territories, go back to its internationally recognized borders, and aree to COMPENSATE the Palestinians for the land they stole from from them.

Shai ,   Israel   (07.11.06)
Even in the US, about 65% of the land is government owned, and 35% private. In Israel, it's 90% government owned and 10% private. Most of the private land is owned by Arabs. The comparison is probably even more in favor of government land in socialist countries, of which Israel was one until recently. If we were so rapacious, why would there be 10% of lands owned by Arabs, even? I mean, in a racist Jewish state, is it sensible that Jews don't own the private land, and not Arabs? if we were like the Arab states, we could simply nationalize your assets, the way Morroco did against its Jews, and all the other Arab states did against theirs. That'd have been fair, by your sense of "justice", no? And, in the US, the most liberal of nations with regard to the rights of private land owners, like in Israel, there is a law that abandoned lands become government owned. It's a law that is common in all western democracies, because it's a principle of common law from the time of the Magna Carta., which underlays most western jurisprudence. That is, governments have an interest, one that is recognized world over, in seeing the land as a national resource, and when people abandon it, it becomes ownerless. They then put it to good use. To accommodate the possibility that the owner will return some day, Israel has the apitropus haklali, which will reimburse the monetary value of all abandoned lands for all who come to claim them. At this point, anybody who had land here can claim that money. But it's pointless to expect, after WE invested in the infrastructure to build this land, that you'd just be able to saunter in and claim land, as though the tides of time are held in abeyance to sooth your sense of justice. Well, it's just inconvenient for all of us that the Arabs didn't do the right thing and accept the 1947 partition plan. That's history now, and both sides pay the price for that. But one thing I can't countenance is the libel that people like you serve up against Israel, as though Arab states are lily white. So, why don't you focus on seeking justice for the absentee Jews from Morrocco before you stick your nose into our business. At least that's more productive than spewing your spew on Ynet.

Ibrahim lives in a dream world , he has left the middle east and its miserable conditions and now he is telling the Palestinians how to raise their children to be like mother Treasa (the mother who was very worried about helping the Palestinians , for fear that she may loose her free media lights ...or she may just be called anti-simitic .) back to Mr. Ibrahim who lost his touch with reality of the Arab situation for his lack of field study that makes a journalist a true journalist ....put your drink aside Mr. Ibrahim ...we all know what happenned with MR. Arafat who did do all the good stuff but failed to win anything because of the Zioinist leadership rejected a fair and just solutions for this conflict ....Palestinians don't teach their kids violence ....Palestinian kids face state directed terrorisim on a daily basis , blaming the victim is not going to get us closer to peace , and MR. Ibrahim : you will get the journalisim award from a phoney crowd not from real people after all its just a paper on the wall ....what a shame

"We all know what happenned with MR. Arafat who did do all the good stuff but failed to win anything because of the Zioinist leadership rejected a fair and just solutions for this conflict " We know what he said in the western media, but it's what he did that mattered, and what he said to his own media. What he did is what can be best described as "deceit", the trait you ascribe to Ibrahim. Those who followed his pronouncements in Arabic media, as I have, knew where Arafat was headed. First, he was looking for a modern day "final solution" for the Jews, not a state for Palestinians. If the latter is what he wanted, he'd have had it by now. A just and fair solution does not require populating Israel with Palestinians, as Arafat desired. It requires conceding that the conflict has ended and there are no further claims against Israel, something Arafat refused to do. It requires sharing sovereignty on the Temple Mount, which Arafat would not allow. Perhaps the problem is your, and Arafat's, definition of "fair and just"? Or maybe your inability to recognize that a population that overwhelmingly supports kidnapping and suicide bombings instead of negotiations really IS a population that has been educated to hate, and indicates to some degree how disconnected from reality you are? I think Ibrahim has a much better grasp on "reality" than you and the Palestinians you support, N. Khoury of Toronto.

Mr. Shai its good that you sleep good and you may also take your Vietamins on a daily basis ...but you have failed to state any facts on your claims , people of Jewish faith were treated very fair in Morocco by both the people and their Kingdoom, jews had ministers in GOV. and the jewish community were treated and respected by all , its also have been documented that the Jewish agency ( Mossad) have done all the Anti - simitic terror work and have been claimed by an Arab nationalist "unknown group" just like Yemen and Iraq .....tricks and lies will make it back to bed mr. I'm game - but compare apples to apples. The Palestinians are enemies. The Israeli Arabs are citizens. Make your comparison with Israeli Arabs vs. Morrocan Jews. So, I'll show you my proof if you show me yours. You go first. And while you're at it, explain why Morroco's Jewish population, which began arriving in Morocco from the year 70 ce after the destruction of the 2nd Temple, and almost 7 centuries before Arabs came to Morocco, has fallen to 5230 from 265000 in 1948. Explain the massacre of Fez in 1033. The massacre of Merrakesh in 1146 and 1232. Explain the riots against the Jews of Oujda and Djerada where 44 Jews died in 1948. Explain why it took a French Protectorate to alleviate discrimination against Jews in 1912. Are you asserting that these were not facts, Dan Copland of Washington, DC?

My dear Karen, I don't have any reason to lie or to make things up. why would I? If I am misguided or have been subjected to "brainwash", then please tell me the truth!! I am only condemning and protesting injustice. If the Arab world was all Jewish and a few Arabs came from Europe and settled a part of it by force, you would be protesting it today..and you should! There is a reason why there is a conflict in the area, isn't it? David Ben-Gurion himself have stated the following: "We must expel Arabs and take their places." "We must use terror, assassination, intimidation, land confiscation, and the cutting of all social services to rid the Galilee of its Arab population." "There has been Anti-Semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?" "Let us not ignore the truth among ourselves ... politically we are the aggressors and they defend themselves... The country is theirs, because they inhabit it, whereas we want to come here and settle down, and in their view we want to take away from them their country." I can provide sources.
76. To shai: Gov owns 90% of land because its stoled it
Karim ,   Morocco   (07.11.06)
Your socialist spin doesn't apply here at all. It is communist countries that deny private property to its citezens, not socialist ones. Besides, in the communist countries, at least in theory, the idea is that citizens surrender their private properties to the state for the "greater good" of all citizens. Now when did the Zionists own anything in Palestine? Most of their leaders came from Russia. I mean MAJORITY of these people WERE NOT BORN in the MIDDLE EAST AT ALL! Lands were simply confiscated and obviously it couldn't become private property (who will get what) so the government took possession of everything through the JNF. The Arab-Israeli and few native jews do own their lands because well it has been theirs. The settlers from Russia, Poland, France, etc, well they had nothing, they took over whatever they could get their hands on. The immoral absentee Israeli law is nothing but an illegal act of land theft. There are no absentee Jews in Morocco. People who left and didn't sell their properties still have them. If you can name me few examples, then please do. If you personally know any case, then ask them to write to the Moroccan royal advisor, Mr. Zoulay, who is a Moroccan-Jew. The Moroccan government doesn't bar any Moroccan-Jew from returning, buying property, selling property in Morocco. They can do as they wish like any other Moroccan with NO restrictions. Is this what your racist oppressive regime does to Palestinians? Of course not! It bars refugees from going back! and by the way, what part of Europe did you come from?

The whole ME was divided recently. All arab countries are recently created countries:Jordan,kwait...etc. Jewish people is a semitic people that ,as well as arabs ,belong to ME. When those arab countries were created,Israel remained with 0,00009% of ME-just look at the map- So...WHY you so fiercely try to deny a people a piece of land, being ME so big? Why?Because we are Jews? Because our culture is not the same as yours? WHY???? Why the Jewish presence bother you so much? I think you should start thinking deeply about your reasons, honestly!

very clever. not. Just because this nonsense is on Mona Baker's web site, doesn't make it so. Why not google "moon green cheese" for your next little project? While you're at it, go to www.camera.org for some hard facts. 79. To 76 - reply
Shai ,   Israel   (07.12.06)
I addressed why it's 90%. Most of it was government land handed over from the Ottomans and British. I pointed out that even in capitalist countries the ratio of government owned land is not a small number, such that you could claim that in Israel all the land was stolen. It was not. Lastly, I pointed out that some of the 90% was abandoned. What I didn't point out is that some of that land is Jewish National Fund land, purchased with funds from Jews around the world. It is not a small amount, and they also purchased land in Lebanon, Syria and Jordan, which they cannot access. I also pointed out that the absentee law is not immoral, it is a feature of all land laws in western democracies. I further pointed out that Jews' land in Arab countries, including Morocco, was nationalized. I neglected to point out that when the Jews were pushed out of places like Morroco, some did sell their land at a dime on the dollar, because the purchasers knew that they had no choice. I suppose I could give you a point on that - some of it was sold, but very much below the market value because the situation of the Jews was taken advantage of. That Mr. Zoulay is, you claim, a Jew proves nothing. There is no comparison between Palestinians and Jews who were citizens of Morroco. The comparison, which you ignored purposefully, is with Israeli Arabs. The court has continually supported the right of Arabs who are citizens of Israel to enter into leases EVEN on land purchased by the Jewish National Fund, which is not a government organization, even though this land was bought specifically to encourage settlement of Jews and no others. And it's pretty obvious why we don't allow refugees to come back. We don't want to be attacked. What kind of attack did the Moroccan Jews undertake on Moroccans that justified thinning out the Moroccan Jewish population from a quarter million to 5000? Nothing. No, I don't come from Europe. My family is rooted in Israel. But odd you should bring that up - as I noted, Jews were in Morrocco at the time of the Berbers, 700 years before the Arabs came. What makes Arabs more indigenous as Moroccans than Jews, then? Don't throw stones in glass houses, Karim.
80. To Keren
Karim ,   Morocco   (07.12.06)
look my friend, Jews as a people don't bother us at all. We are the same people, who at some point, choose to follow or adapt different religions or set of beliefs. Some people might disagree on things but that exists on both sides. Jewish culture is closer to Muslim culture than other religions. Did you know that Muslim eat Jewish kosher food and consider it "Islamic"? It is true that many modern Arab countries were created recently but you must realize that all of them were inhabited by natives. We have no problem with native Jewish self-determination. We have a problem with people who came from Europe and decided they want to create a country of their own in foreign lands. I pesonally see no difference between that and French occupation of North Africa. The fact that European-Jews can claim ancestory in the Middle East is irrelevant. We can ackowledge that, but that is it. If you are a Jew living in Sao Paulo in Latin America, well if your family has been living there for centuries, then you are a latin American. Yes you can claim your great great ancestors came from biblical Israel but you can't go to some Palestinian village, destroy it, evict its people and claim it is yours from 100BC! When Zionists came in, they ignored the natives completely. They didn't even try to work a plan with them. Instead, they used a colonial power, the British, to secure their illegal plan. Think about it, it is not something to proud of. How do you expect us to accept all of this? Now your 0.00009% is not a serious argument. Of course Arabs have more lands because there are almost 300 million of them! 300 milion. Is it the Arabs fault if there are only few million Jews? are you going to blame us for this too? Can you go to neighbors, take over their land and ask them to move out because there is enough space in Latin America?? is that reasonable? I hope you realize that this is a land conflict, not a religious one. Some people try to emphasis on religious difference but those have always existed for centuries before Herzl was born.

Karim ,   Morocco   (07.12.06)
Well I have the books in which the quotes were taken from. Call it what you want but it is the only version that explains accurately what happened. Your zionists were no peaceful people. Some Zionists didn't deny what happened, they just argued that because of the holocaust the "Jewish cause" was more important than the suffering of Palestinians. They see Palestinian sufferings and wrongdoings as an inconvience only while Jewish suffering as real and painful.
82. To Shai: 90% state owned land is not western
Karim ,   Morocco   (07.12.06)
To claim state ownernship of land in Israel is as common as it is in any western country or non-western country is simply false. In other countries, state ownership is not divided along ethnic or religious lines. If the Arabs were evicted or if the wish of some of radical parties became true, then 100% of Israel will be state owned. Name one one western country where the state owns entire cities like it is in Israel. Sure in America, the state owns land. But anyone can go and find property to buy. Can You do the same in Israel? Obviously not. You would have to find some Arab to sell you some of their land. The JNF is a de-facto a government organization just like the WZO. The court ruling against the racist practices of the JNF is recent. For long decades, this apartheid organization refused to lease lands to non-Jewish citizens. The ruling itself doesn't mean anything because there are cases where the ruling was simply ignored. Perhaps I could remind you of the Katzir community ruling that took 5 years for the court to rule in favor of an Arab-Israeli who was refused a permit to build a house in this "Jewish-only community" built on STATE land. The likud and few other parties denouced the ruling, and in the end the Katzir cooperative association itself refused to abide by the ruling. This is shameful stuff. It only happened in apartheid south africa. Before the UN partition plan, jewish owernship of land in Palestine was estimated at no more than 5%. Some people did sell the JNF some land in good faith, little they knew about the Zionist plan. When the colonial-western dominated UN partitioned Palestine in favor of the foreign-born settlers, the 700,000 Palestinians who later became refugees still owned their lands. The UN gave Israel ownership of borders, not every single inch of the land.
83. To Shai part II
Karim ,   Morocco   (07.12.06)
The JNF took over every thing except for the few Palestinians who were left inside the borders. That is the land theft I am talking about. It is immoral, dishonest and illegal. You can't claim something when their owners are sitting few miles away barred from returning. Absentee laws in Israel might look like any other law in any country, but in practice it is not. It is used against non-Jews only for the purpose of confiscating their lands when they have abandoned it by free will. THe Palestinians have NEVER given up on their right of return that is supported by international law. So which absentee are you talking about? You claim that Jewish land in Morocco was nationalized? That is simply bull. Prove it. I certainly would not accept that my government would take over someone's property because they decide to go live in some other country! what kind of non-sense is that?! It would be state land theft. No it is not pretty obvious about the refugees. Moroccan-Jews in Israel did fight against other Arab countries (violation of the arab league defense treaty), including against few Moroccan forces that were sent to defend egypt and syria during the 1967 invasion. In case you didn't know, there is a graveyard in Syria of Moroccan troops killed by Israeli forces. Does this mean that the Moroccan government can deny every Moroccan-Jew in Israel the right to go back freely to their native country? Of course not. It would NOT be fair or HUMANE to ban people from visiting their graveyards, their ancestors homes, and their families. But that is exactly what the heartless racist apartheid Israeli regime does, since 1948. I have seen documentaries of familes who since 1948 couldn't even go see their parents graveyards. How harsh and inhumane. It is a real tragedy for these people and that is why we are standing by them. I could care less what religion you have or what Zionists believed it. You could convert to Islam tomorrow, but my views will not change as long as the Israeli apartheid oppression goes on. Don't lecture me about Moroccan history. What makes you think I am not a berber? Tell me where your parents came from. Israel did not exist before 1948. So where were they or where were your grandparents from? Why are you ashamed of your heritage? Were your ancestors put to sleep 2000 years ago and then woken up in 1948? Tell me where you are from originally.
