"Judge with facts not with race and religion." I ask you to do the same thing. Here's a fact for you. Lebanon kidnapps Israeli soldiers. Lebanon goes crying to the UN hoping that they will keep Israel from attacking. The UN is a useless entity that kisses the collective asses of muslims. Israel tells the UN to go to hell and does what it has every right to do...protect it's citizens and kick your sorry asses for kidnapping their soldiers. How'd ya like them facts Ali?
32. Annan: CONDEMN HEZBOLLAH
Joy Springreen   (07.12.06)

Syria and IRAN are behind this, not Lebanon. help the lebanese get rid of this gangrene. support the explusion of the non-lebanese state militia "hezbollah'. THE HYPOCRISY!!!!!

35. Annan in Saudi payroll
Salomon S Mizrahi ,   Sao Carlos/SP/Brazil   (07.12.06)
What expecting from Kof Annan? A man in the payroll of arab countries.
36. Smell of weakness
Salomon S Mizrahi ,   Sao carlos/SP/Brazil   (07.12.06)
Like predators, the Arabs attacked smelling the weakness of their prey. With a weak government and having lost the deterring power, Israel became the perfect prey. Israel should restore its deterrence power, for instance, destroying power stations in Syria, the presidential palaces or something equivalent. However with the present government, nothing will be done.
37. UN bashing Israel
garnet ,   canada   (07.12.06)
I agree that the UN is run by a multitude of ethnic groups. Unfortunately for us & Israel they are mostly muslim or supporters of them & all they know how to do is BASH Israel. Israel did not start this, but obviously we will have to finish it
38. Israel
Sharon ,   Canada   (07.12.06)
I do not think this person knows what he's talking about & definately cannot spell
39. Annan - open your eyes
anne ,   bournemouth uk   (07.12.06)
If Annan was to take his eyes off the money pile, he might want to think about Somalia. He might want to look at Nigeria. Or perhaps Chechnya. Or Kashmir. Or Kosovo. Or Chad or Iraq (civil war) Then there is Darfur. Then he might just pick up a pattern of nasty little bullies who dont care how many they kill in the name of the religion they claim to follow. It was arabs who invented slavery. It is arabs who love death more than their children. Or perhaps Mr Annan can only think of money and whether they will delve deeper into the scandals he caused with food for oil And the rest of the world should open their eyes too.
40. Error in reporting
Brian ,   Reading. Pa, USA   (07.12.06)
Where the article quoted Annan, he condemned the attack, not the counter-attack; he "understood" Israeli counter-attacking, admonishing that Israeli counter-attacks should be "measured", and "proportionate". Perhaps, just maybe, Annan's jew-bashing bigotry didn't happen this time.
41. New SubSpecies Of Human discovered (...maybe)
ytba ,   usa   (07.12.06)
Know to date only as "Kofi Annan," and presumed identified. But this has been coming into question more and more as it exhibits behavior more characteristic of Arab Dhimmis, than of a normal man. First, note that as Shai ben Tekoa relates, his name means "cloud monkeys," B'Ivirit. So with that in mind, let us consider how to clasify this denizen of the mirky UNderWorld of subservience to Islamofascist evil. I would naming it... Nephapithicos UNensis. ...and I am also considering... N. nefariensis. I just can't seem to make up my mind, because although the first places the location of it's UNnatural habitat, the second gives important insight into it's sociopathic behavior. ...so hard to decide.
42. wow
Elijah ,   Canada   (07.12.06)
Since the initial capture of the Israeli soldier over 70 Palestinian civilians have been murdered by the barbaric Israeli army. But no one cares because according to the world, they do not matter. They are worthless because they are not Jews.
43. Perspective
Lysias ,   London, England   (07.12.06)
Perhaps understandably, the above comments are severely distorted by emotions - anger, fear, insecurity, paranoia etc. There is little grounding in reality for much of what has been written & I believe you all need to step back and consider what it is you are trying to achieve aside from venting your spleens. I pray that you do not all mean what you actually write as it would make you lower than the "animals" that some of you claim your neighbours to be. Why react with such vitriol to a news article? After all, Mr Annan was reported as having called for the immediate release of the kidnapped soldiers. Moreover, how can you disagree with what he went on to say (”We would not want to see an expansion, an escalation of conflict in the region,”) unless that is actually what you would like to see? If this is the case, you are less than rational and certainly no better than those same "animals". What do you as Israelis (or US citizens who identify with Israel) want? Do you know what you want? I know what you should want but none of your recent behaviour will lead to that result. Witness today's events and remember the brief but painful history of your state. These kidnappings didn't come out of the blue and were a response to Israel's disproportionate reaction to the kidnapping of Corporal Shalit, which in turn was the response to a series of Israeli slaughters over the preceding weeks, mostly of innocent Palestinian civilians. Hizbullah are baiting Israel because you react so "splendidly". Your military has already killed over 70 Palestinians in the "search" for the Corporal and destroyed key civilian infrastructure in Gaza. Has all this devastation resulted in the freedom of your soldier? Of course not, and you could kill 10,000 Palestinians and still be no closer to freeing him - is that what you want? All that blood on your conscience? Can you honestly say that this would be justified? Israel appears to be losing control of this situation and encouraging, through its behaviour, the events which are unfolding. Do you really think things are going to get better if the crisis is escalated by bombing and killing Lebanese? Do you really think Hizbullah care if innocent Lebanese civilians are killed and the recently rebuilt infrastructure of the country destroyed? That just plays further into their hands, empowers Nasrallah and gives them more "justification" for further outrages, winning them support in the region and perhaps turning global public opinion further against Israel. In fact, it's no doubt what they're counting on & it looks like Israel has already got off to a good start. How does it feel to be dancing to Nasrallah's tune? Even if your Prime Minister can't (and it doesn't appear that many of you hold him in high regard), surely you can recognise the difference between an "act of war" & the reckless actions of rogue elements within Lebanon. Kidnappings by Hizbullah, which you have long considered a terrorist organisation, are not the sovereign will of the Lebanese state, or its people. Instead of compounding an already grave situation by attacking Lebanon, surely Israel would be better served by communicating effectively with the Lebanese government (the one Hizbullah member aside) & enlisting their cooperation and support to resolve the crisis and secure the timely release of the new hostages? Instead you're too quick to apportion blame and lash out. That does not lead to your ends - witness the ongoing crisis in Gaza - how will the Lebanese government be able to do anything, other than defend themselves, if you invade their country? How can they look for the soldiers if you're busy blowing people up & destroying bridges so they can't even drive around their country? I'd be interested to hear measured responses - in spite of what some of you appear to think, not everyone is your enemy but if you continue to treat everyone as if they are then it could become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
44. Israel go home
Peter ,   Australia   (07.12.06)
Israel should stop being thugs. I personally think, Israel has had it's chance of obtaining a homeland and dramatically failed. They don't deserve Israel. They should all pack up and George should give them an American state.
45. erev "the 3 weeks"
johanna ,   tsfat   (07.12.06)
tonight is the begining of the 17th of tammuz. the begining of the 3 weeks, which is traditionally a bad time for Klal Yisrael. tomorrow from sunrise to sunset is a fast day. i urge jews everywhere to try and observe this fast, even if you don't usually do this type of thing, or maybe especially if you don't. we need all the help we can get right now, we could do with a few miracles too. and this is one way you can express solidarity with eretz yisrael.

SW ,   Washington, DC, USA   (07.12.06)
Hi, First, I am Lebanese-American. Second, I am tired of the Lebanese government acting as if they are scared. I hope against hope that the Lebanese PM phones Olmert and simultaniously declares war on hizbolah from both Israeli positions and from the north via the true Lebanese Defense Forces wiping hizbolah along with nisrallah off the face of this planet. P.S. Shit on the damn yellow hizbollah flags...you f'ers are in Lebanon and should recognize the authority of the state--pick up one of those flags with a cedar on it!

56. Israeli Attacks
Lebanese national ,   Toronto - Canada   (07.12.06)
I can't understand why the Israelis who know very well that Hizballa has formed a state in a state and that the Lebanese government has no power no authority to stop them, do not attack those who support them with money ($200 milion per year) and weapons (Syria ). Why Lebanese have to pay the price always, Is Israel afraid of attacking them and choose the easy way to please its citizens?
