61. To Naive (or Malicious?) #43 (Sillyus)
ytba ,   usa   (07.13.06)
B"H "After all, Mr Annan was reported as having called for the immediate release of the kidnapped soldiers." Oooooh, the terrorists must be shaking in their boots. Silly person!!! (I give you the benefit of the doubt here.) The terrorists have even less respect for Nephapithacos UNensis (SUBspecies nephariensis) than we do.
62. #34, Sarah. Do you...
ytba ,   usa   (07.13.06)
B"H ...listen to Shai, too, or is this just a case of "great minds think alike?"
63. Naharyia and mishmar hayarden attacked
alan ,   frisco   (07.13.06)
This is all out war 250,000 Israelis took shelter last night in the North this is like attacking San Francisco or Cannes. Let Hezzbollah and Syria have it between the eyes IDF. No quarter until you destroy Hezzbollah and take out the goof balls who run the show
64. no peace
From Lebanon   (07.13.06)
Israel has and will undoubtedly continue to target civillians. In all the hundreds of bombs its dropped so far, not a single guerilla has fallen. The 2 soldiers were captured on Lebanese Sovereign soil, this has been conformed by the IDF and by UNIFIL. You can even see the soldier passin throught the border gate to get to the captured soldiers vehicle. Its too late now.. the Lebanese population can cope and rebuild but what of Israels population who up until now has been spared unlike the IDFs killing of 37 civilians
65. Annan condemns Israel? How typical and how wrong!
Spencer ,   Nashville, TN   (07.13.06)
Very well said Daniel, I echo your thoughts whole heartedly!!!
66. # 64 No Peace
Spencer ,   Nashville, TN   (07.13.06)
To the comments from writer # 64, Do you, or have you considered all the provocative attacks that have been done against the citizens of Israel? All but a few coweredly attacks have been done against unarmed citizens going about their daily business. These are people who are out eating, shopping, or riding public transporatation with friends and family and suddenly there is the sound of an explosion that was detonated by a suicide bomber or rocket fire and innocent lives have been taken! I can assure you, that if Israel wasn't showing restraint and going after specific enemy targets, ie., terrorists and their infrastructure, the death toll would be enormous! What we are all witnessing worldwide, is a nation defending itself against evil, and being backed into a corner. If the hatred and anger between the Jew and Arabs would end so would the conflicts, but until then, WAR is inevitable. And from a biblical standpoint, Israel is Gods chosen people, through the lineage of Issac and all who bless Israel will be blessed and all who curse Israel will be cursed... That doesn't mean that everything Israel does is right but they surely have the right to defend themselves against aggressors and when diplomacy fails all you have left is a defensive posture and the need to quench the violence with greater force!
67. Israel
Ahmad ,   UK   (07.14.06)
Those of you who think it is all arabs fault then please go and stay with them for a month or so and see it for yourself the aggression of Israelis on them. It is always easy to comment from our warm and nice houses in a safe countries. Recently 7 member of palestinian family was killed in a beach by israeli army and they said it was a mistake, do you think that did not sanction retaliation by the palestinians? or is ones blood is worth more than another? I dont like to see either side to suffer but please look at the facts both sides before making comments.
68. Kofi Anan
Kay Anderson ,   Lakewood, NJ, USA   (07.14.06)
First of all learn to speak English you ignorant person Kofi Anan has the right to say whatever he wants as the secretary general of the UN. Isreal bombed an international airport! That is a breach of Lebanon's borders, what good can be made from bombing an international airport? Did anyone stop to ask about any people, tourists planes destroyed by these bombings? No of course not because apparently the lebanese people who are probably the most modern of all the arab nations are not considered as people.
69. UN totally useless!
Halldor Halldorsson ,   Hafnarfirdi Iceland   (07.14.06)
The UN is a totally useless bureucrat's dream; and the main reason, along with ingrown American stupidity, for allowing Israel to get away with their nazi methods!
70. Why attack Beirut?
Wadih El-Ghoussoubi ,   Mount Lebanon   (07.14.06)
Why you Israeli forces attack mid-lebanon (Beirut) and the Airport?! We are 50% Christians in that country, we are against Hizbullah, and we pray for God to remove it from our territory. If you want to attack Hizbullah, then attack their area (south lebanon) only! Hizbullah is not easy to defeat, they have more than 13000 mid-ranged missiles and more than 20,000 soldiers with the support of Syria and Iran. I hope that there will be a seize fire in Lebanon.
71. to # 70
to # 70   (07.14.06)
U Say u r lebanese, i want to say shame on u, U should be united against this brutal invasion. As long as we have ppl like you in leb, with ur mentality, lebanon will never be ok. And our enemies will always exploit ppl thinking liking u for them to win. A true Lebanese
72. Kofi Anan
Andre ,   New York, USA   (07.14.06)
You may not agree with Mr. Anan, however we should not speak with emotions rather than reason. The fact is, Israel has a right to defend itself against the onslaught of Muslim extremists in their neighboring countries. However, Israel's response has reached far and wide into Lebanon, now affecting the mainly Christian population who are anti-hizbullah. Israel should target the guerillas and try to minimize civilian casualties as much as possible.
73. treaty
david   (07.16.06)
I bet there will be a man who rises out of this and makes peice in israel for 7 years just you watch and see
74. Kofi Annan
Gunnar Jensen ,   Grindsted, Denmark   (07.18.06)
We in Denmark remember Kofi Ana for his Attitude concerning the Mohammad-crisis: Freedom of Speech is ok, but ...., he declared. Dont trust a man, who in the same way means: Israel has the Right to defend itself, but .....
75. why all the aggression
peace ,   al, usa   (07.19.06)
Just for once forget about politics and look at the innocent children and civilians dying. Islam, jews... whatever they are humans, so who ever says they are animals please stop. We are seating at our comfortable desks and making all these biased judgements. The agression needs to stop from both sides and that's what Kofi is saying. There is a non violent way out of this mess and trust me what's going to end it is diplomacy not war. So for all of you being blinded by hate just put yourself in the dying people's shoes and then decide if your death is worthwhile.
76. Annan's Statement: Best for the hour
Tonye Tamuno ,   Lagos, Nigeria   (07.22.06)
We must always recognize that the UN does not (and should never) encourage warfare that results to bloodshed (especially for civilians who have no political or economic influence). Annan's condemnation is completely right. Israel is demonstrating too much more than what was meted to them by their so-called "enemy". The world (including the US and Israel) knows clearly that there is a better approach to the issue rather than a display of military armoury. All those condemning Annan's speech are talking freely in quiet places and innocent people (women and children) are dying daily. Please think.
77. call for peace
nick ,   canada   (07.24.06)
nothing is ever going to be solved if both sides refuse to sit down at the table and talk, violence always spawns violence and hatred and that isn't in anybodys intrest. it is hard to talk with those who have done you wrong but if people truly wish for an end to war and peace, coversation and compromise is the only way.
78. Please try to stop
abu ,   india   (07.31.06)
I dont know why the US,France, and other develop countries are not tack a action for this ......
