61. Let me decode several of the general's statements
World Citizen ,   the world   (07.26.06)
The first one: "An IDF source explained that, considering that there are still a few hundred Lebanese citizens in Bint Jbeil, forces cannot attack the town aerially, and, thus, it is necessary to bring in ground troops." Can't bomb civilians in the city ...well that is BS. When did that ever stop the IAF? What it means is that IDF units are trapped on the ground in the area and to call in artillery or airstrikes would mean killing your own soldiers. The other statement. "Pursuant to the difficult battle, the IDF may postpone additional operations in southern Lebanon that were planned for the upcoming days." What that means is that Hezbullah kicked some butt today and the IDF generals are saying, "What the hell?! Hezbullah isn't fighting fair! Those guys are supposed to tuck tail and run like civilians when they see the IDF. We have to regroup! " Sorry to rain on your parade but you are up against seasoned, dedicated, freedom fighters. You are invading their country and they are going to defend it. It was folly for Olmert and your generals to expect anything less. Shame on them. Shame on you for letting them do it.

Sattouf ,   USA   (07.26.06)
Lebanon used to have a universal consciption...and only for males...which makes half of the Lebanese as legitimate targets..BUT in Israel all of the country is forced to serve in the military...So next time you do it properly...the resistance has all moral rights to hit anywhere in occupied Palestine!
63. NO MAN LAND up to LITANI
moshe brodetzky ,   tarzana   (07.26.06)
MINE / FLOOD / DUST / SCORCH etc
64. ADMIT LOSS
joseph ,   planet earth   (07.26.06)
why don't we just say israel's obectif has not been achieved and what nasrallah said was true, about a plan to eleminate hizbollah in september,he got us first.. get back and prepare ourselfs. those people are ready to die ...Olmert step the f... down.
65. Bombs away?
Ran   (07.26.06)
Hafiz al-Assad of Syria leveled a town of 20,000 to make his point.* Maybe Israel should have leveled this Hizbullah town from the air, and to hell with 'world opinion?' * http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hama_Massacre
66. to Ali #18
Michael ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.26.06)
Ali, I usually don't reply to talk back messages, but I thought I would answer to you. Yes, Efi Eitam's son is fighting Bint Jbeil. He is former minister though but current cneset member never the less. As for the truth we see it differently and making a claim that your side is right will not convince me and your other opponents.
67. Where was the artillery?
jason white ,   afula,israel   (07.26.06)
Why didn't they hit the entrance with ballistic shots. They could have destroyed it.Screw the civilians and protect our soldiers. If they have to flatten the town, then do it.Stop with this "purity of arms".It is crap, better to destroy the enemy and let them fear us.
68. D you belive in using all of your advantage
mohammad ,   Jordan   (07.26.06)
do you think that palasinians should also use there advantage by sending the socide bombers to israel?
69. carpet bombing
ami ,   israel   (07.26.06)
perhaps we stop to be the gentelmen and start fighting like evry other nation carpet bomb them before our soldiers get killed anyway the UN denounces us if you do it ore not

hope you get well soon

Zach ,   NYC, USA   (07.26.06)
I understand your comment. The last time I checked (on Friday) Lebanon still has universal conscription for males. I was pointing out the complete absurdity of your argument, since it means that at the same time that half of the Lebanese population are legitimate targets in your view.
72. Syria will be in SOON
Renato Barcat ,   Brazil , Brasilia   (07.26.06)
It s a very complex problem , and catastrrophic too , if syria gets in the conflict, so we will have a total war in the middle east. I am sorry for everybody in this, god help us so . GO ISRAEL !!!!!!!!
73. Olmert is not the leader that will save Israel
Yitzchak ,   Montreal, Canada   (07.26.06)
Unfortunately, Israel will never see salvation through Olmert. 1. For divine assistance, a Jewish leader needs merit and since Olmert was involved in the Gaza expulsion, he is devoid of merit. 2. The first thing the Israel military has to do is bomb all the mosques since that is where Hezbollah and its supplies and weapons are stored. Olmert is too worried about what the world will say if he did this. 3. When someone picks a fight with Israel, Israel should decide when and how to respond. The 3 weeks are times of tragedy and not the appropriate time to respond. Olmert doesn’t understand this…unfortunately
74. Ynet's English edition is not true to Hebrew source!
Nisan ,   Boston, USA   (07.26.06)
Why doesn't this article mention that many terrorist escaped to the village's MOSQUE and continued shooting FROM THE MOSQUE?! Soft hearted english-speaking liberals who may read this need to know about dirty ways of Hizbullah's fighting.
75. Time for a little Old Testament Justice.
Randy ,   OKC, USA   (07.26.06)
When the children of Israel came out of the wilderness, G-D sent them into the promised land and they were instructed to kill every man, woman and child in the cities. No survivors. Now we know why.

Saud ,   Saudi   (07.26.06)
Just for ur information, Jewish wanted a land, Argentina was there 2nd choice, just wonder what was ur advice to them if they occupying ur land exactly like what they are doing with the palestinian and labaneese.
80. smug self-congratulation
wanda ,   montreal   (07.26.06)
as always, in times of war, the blanket comes down to prevent clear eyed dissemination of truth. this includes feedback, so talkbackers, do not fool yourself into thinking you have any unanimity of opinion. it is only this: all criticism has been blocked. psy-ops. crystalizing this site to a right-wing wank-fest.
81. Restraint?
Colin ,   San Diego   (07.26.06)
If the residents of these villages choose to stay, they have to pay the price, not the IDF sons and brothers. Why repeat Jenin? If you've isolated the murdering hezballah, withdraw and finish the job with airpower Or am I nuts??
82. Zach
Sattouf ,   USA   (07.26.06)
My comment is not absurd...this is the foundation of the Islamic resistance logic...ALL ISRAELI CITIZENS ARE SOLDIERS....THEREFORE ALL OF THEM ARE TARGETS!! In Israel there are no civilians MALES or FEMALES!! Got it!!
83. TO 57
(07.26.06)
I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT YOU SAY WHO YOU ARE!
84. I wish Israel...(reviwed)
keren ,   sao paulo   (07.26.06)
to exterminate enemies as much as possible,if not completely, and then that Israel creates a new estrategic reality on it borders and keep that FIRMLY in the future ,and starts acting PREVENTIVELY and FEROCIOUSLY against terrorists approuch into Israel, after this all have finished. And that ,meanwhile, Israel resolvs the issues, diplomaticaly, step by step,by emptying Gaza from actual dwellers first;and then WB ; and then arabs enemies inside Israel,by sending them all, gradualy, to arab countries. Diplomacy would eventualy include International communities' help for arabs leaving Israel ,to start a better life among their owns. That's my view for the best way to go.
85. Israel should use Shock n Awe tactic, not See n Shoot
John ,   NZ   (07.26.06)
86. ambush
alex ,   canada   (07.26.06)
Surely, if hezbollah is waiting at the entrance in ambush mode, you draw them out by sending special recons to check out the area. No army can defeat such stealth. Its obvious that Hlatuz is out of his element and is not qualified to run the IDF. Bring back Yaalon or appoint someone else and fast who knows how to fight stealthy Hezbollah. Set the towns on fire to remove cover.
87. TO 79
(07.26.06)

SO JUST SIT THERE ON YOUR OIL BARRELS AND , BY THE WAY, NO MORE ROOM ON ARAB NEWSPAPER FORUMS? YOU HAVE LOTS OF FRIENDS THERE, HERE NO ONE IS CONVINCED BY YOUR HORSE S--T!!!!
88. to # 80
paul ,   columbia falls, mt.   (07.27.06)
if it was true what you stated, THEY WOULD HAVE BLOCKED YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
89. Give me a break
Robert ,   Manchester   (07.27.06)
It’s a pity that most of the people calling for carpet bombing and other atrocities happen to live in the USA , where I gather you are quite safe encouraging the Israeli right to kill all and sundry, and then wonder when all and sundry bother to fight back An eye for eye will leave us all blind!
90. AIR STRIKES/CARPET BOMBING
