Unlike the liar who calls himself "proud Jew", I am a proud Jew who loves Israel but I am also appalled at the way Olmert's government is conducting this war. He is incompetent as a commander-in- chief as are the other members of his so-called security cabinet. They refused to accept the advice of the IDF leaders and instead are pursuing a war with no apparent tactical or strategic purpose. Everybody with an ounce of brains and a knowledge of military history and tactics know that a well-armed enemy that has had six years to build underground bunkers and to booby-trap and lay mines is going to be a tough enemy to defeat without being willing to accept casualties and to be willing to commit a large enough force to get the job done. Americans learned this all too well during the battles in the Pacific against the Japanese. Iwo Jima, a small, volcanic island was a horrific battle for the Americans because they were facing an enemy that was fanatical and well dug-in. Massive air and battleship bombardment did little to dislodge the Japanese and the Americans finally won the battle with overwhelming force and the bravery of American soldiers and marines. In this war, the Israeli soldiers are well-trained and brave but the moronic Olmert refuses to give them the force needed to finish the job. Instead, for whatever the reason, he warns the enemy of where the attacks are to occur and almost wrote the script for the killing in Lebanon. New elections are needed in Israel.

I understand Israel's concern with Hezbollah; they are terrorists and their objective is to harm Israel at any cost. This is fact. I understand why Israel felt that it needs to take this opportunity (the kidnapped soldiers) and show the Hezbollah once and for all that they can't manipulate us or get away with harming us in order to suit their agenda. Yes, Hezbollah should be destroyed, if it is possible. But not at any and all costs; not at the cost of civilian Lebanese lives or through Lebanese destruction. Israel should have thought this through more, and not just said we will go in there and bomb them all. It is a disporportionate response and it is irresponsible. Israel you are not a terrorist, you should care the most about lives of innocent people, yours or others'. You should do whatever it takes in order to protect innocent lives, even if it means that your plan has to be reconsidered. Think ahead Israel: just because you drop leaflettes does not mean that all civilians can or will escape. You do not have a right to kill those that remain behind. Israel, your reasons are justified but your means are not. I am sad, extrememly disappointed, and embaressed about the recent events in Qana.

Hezbollah hides behind the skirts of their womanfolk, and children. So, when Israel hits back, and some so-called innocents are killed (collateral damage), everyone blames it for atrocities. During WW2, we bombed Japanese and German cities back to the stone age. Millions of innocent and not so innocent civilians were killed. (Remember, every child is a potential Jihadists). Israel could have ended this thing in 1 day using just one of it's 200 plus nukes. Sharon could have ended the 2nd intifada in one day by sending in 100 tanks...he didn't. So now, Iran is close to an atomic bomb of it's own...which it will immediately use over Tel Aviv. Then what will we Jews to retaliate, go on the Internet and post misgivings?

Israel must realize that there is a better way to deal with the terrorists. If Israel met the demands of the world: withdraw from all occuppied territories and only act in RESPONSE to actions not before, go back to 1967 borders, establish a two state solution, allow Jerusalem to be the holyland for both religions (because it is)... if Israel does this and the terrorists are STILL fighting and do not halt terrorist actions against Israel, then at least Israel has done it's part, to the end, and then won't get criticized by the rest of the world. This will work in Israel's favor because then the terrorists, should they continue their actions against Israel under these conditions, would have to answer to the rest of the world and it would make their job much more difficult and their cause unjustifiable in the eyes of most of the world. This is the only way to get anywhere; this fighting causes nothing but more fighting, it does not work, it gets no one no where, everyone suffers for it. Just because the terrorists do not do their part does not mean Israel must not either. Israel should, and only then can we really deal with the terrorists like they are meant to be dealt with. Playing hardball is not the answer.

why don't we hear the outcry of the Arab street about the the "courageous" Hizbollah fighters who hide between women and children and the elderly. Let them come out of their holes and fight like real men against the IDF. Israel: keep on doing the job RIGHT!!!

I was reading all the talkbacks and some of the comments are really childish. This war was not started 19 days ago because of 2 kidnapped soldiers. Thhis war started a long time ago when Israel violated lebanese sovereinety. Israel is not fighting the reason of its instability nowadays, it is fighting the consequences. And doing so Israel are buying itslef another war for the coming years. If you want some peace just be less arrogant in the future... if you keep it this way maybe god (if he really exists) will take the promessed land from you... don't try to find a tent to stay in in Lebanon, you'r not welcome...anymore.

The eye witness to the bombing in Qana said in the report transmitted by SKY News this evening that he "HEARD TWO EXPLOSIONS". That means there was a SECONDARY EXPLOSION of Hizbullah MUNITIONS stored at this house after the initial air strike.

I get so annoyed with fellow Jewish people who feel they have a right to judge Israels actions. Come and live here and see what fear we have each day. Angry Jack, you are proof that ignorance has no limits. The Unitied Nations certified that Israel pulled out of Lebanon. It does not, and has not for 6 years, occupy any part of Lebanon. In return for that pull out, the UN issued a quid pro quo - the UNSCR 1559 calling for Lebanon's army to take positions in South Lebanon, displace and disarm all non Lebanese Army militias, including Hizbollah. From that day when Israel pulled out, the clock began ticking again. What happened before is no more relevant to our conflict than the Pearl Harbor Invasion is to the US's relationship with Japan. If there are consequences from not fulfilling the terms of 1559, and these include bombings and kidnappings acrossed the border with Lebanon into Israel, which was one invasion two many about 3 weeks ago, it is caused by Lebanon and its cowardly refusal to bring peace to south Lebanon by disarming HIzbollah and kicking Syria and Iran out of their country. You have nothing to advise Jews about arrogance, Frenchman, nor about promised Land, nor about what G-d says to us. You are best advised to blame your treasonous country for coddling these Shiite terrorists rather than nipping them in the bud.
