My wife and I have been appalled at they degree of media bias in reporting on the current conflict. Furthermore, the bias exists in media which are normally more sympathetic to the Israeli cause, such as, FoxNews. American TV routinely will report that "a family " was killed in a bombing raid in Lebanon, while a rocket into Israel kills "three people" in a house. They almost never describe the Israeli casualties as civilians, though almost all are. The difference in language is as plain as day to this (non-Jewish) American. We are angry about it and are letting people know it. Your article is right on target. I hope you find some comfort in the knowledge that other people see these things. We are not as stupid as the major media types seem to think we are.

The BBC and other ultra-liberal press are white noise. Why else the turn from broadcast media to on-line content? On the one hand it is disgusting to see such open bias (especially because it is so incredibly intellectually dishonest). On the other hand, the biased babble has become so silly that I know slightly liberal friends who have turned from the BBC & the NYT. The louder and more biased the BBC & NYT get, the more obvious their failings. Most of the US and British media is openly Leftist, as are most university journalism professors (perpetuated by tenure). Considering the fact that Israel has had a tiny fraction of the casualties of Lebanon, not to mention that half of their casualties are soldiers, they are getting far more coverage than an accurate reporting of this tragedy would suggest. Also, don’t forget about the complete destruction of Lebanese Infrastructure. Israeli deaths are covered to the person, here in the states. It is not uncommon for reports to actually include the names of Israelis who have been killed, sometimes even giving a story of their personnel experiences. This is unheard of in the coverage of Lebanese casualties, because there are too many. Those of you who don’t think but, the coverage has been fair to Israeli victims are not being honest, you know darn well that Lebanon is suffering far worse in every respect. I do not care much for the world opinion which does perceive Jews as bloody murders (what else is new). More damaging this time is the perception that the IDF has started this war on Hizbullah's conditions and that it gets into every trap the Arabs have set for them. These men will stop at nothing to achieve their goals, and put absolutely no value on human life, other than the lives of their leaders. Even more moderate Arabs cannot support the actions of groups like Hezbollah, because they know them much more intimately than do men like Hugh Skyes, and they know how vicious they are. Unfortunately no amount of education, or even journalistic experience can cure a man of such ignorance. If a man can't see the obvious, there is little hope of him ever seeing the underlying causes of this conflict. Israel is surrounded by enemies, and has no choice but to defend itself in such a manner, just as Great Britain, or any other European nation would, possibly with even greater ferocity, and less civility and concern for human life. I feel for the Lebanese people, but harbouring and supporting an organization such as Hezbollah is the real reason for the Israeli bombings, and incursions into Lebanon. I say keep the pressure on until the Lebanese people, and those who truly desire peace in the Middle East yield, and start making some moves towards achieving such goals, instead of pursuing their anti-Israeli agenda aimed at Israel's eventual annihlation.
