Hesbollah has russian-made rockets that pierce Merkava tank armour and expode inside. IDF should not use Merkavas as they are now. They need to do something to their armor or abandon them altogether. Regarding military casualities from Hezbollah rockes, it appears that they have much higher success rate targeting IDF military groups than vililian ones in Haifa. News of 15 troops killed is a greater hit to Israel morale than 100 rockets landing on empty field near Haifa. Plus, killing military personnel is not a war crime. I suggest Hesbollah switch to IDF reservists and abandond civilian targets altogether.

I can't believe that the Israeli Government is so stupid to enter the Hizbullah trap. The IDF is now exactly where Nasrallah wants them to be- deep inside Lebanon. When the Americans cannot win in Iraq ( flat desert country ) how should the Israelis win in the mountains and forests of Lebanon?? The guerillas are behind every bush, behind every rock and deep in the forest. Fresh weapons are supplied over the Syrian border even on donkeys and the first volunteers from other muslim countries have arrived as well. This will turn into an Israeli Vietnam. I think the IDF should fight just from the air, the lives of the young IDF soldiers shouldn't be thrown away in this mess. I pray for them.

This happens in a war, young men lose their lives and it is a very sad thing. This has happened to us too. But the Israeli spirit will persist and I know the israeli's are strong and have a deep survival instinct. This just tells you that you need to be strong, support one another and don't give into defeatism. It is a loss, not the final outcome. I am disappointed, though, that the gloves are still on. War is bad stuff, bad things happen and Israel is there alone fighting for us, I hope the US is sending the needed military equipment. That seems to be all our govt will do at this time. I am sorry for the death and suffering, but that is part of war. I cannot believe Israel is not raining hell on Syria and Iran who have been the conduit to Hezbollah for these Russian anti-tank missiles--which have claimed a majority of the IDF deaths in this war to date. When all is said and done, IDF Armor units will have to develop new tactics to counter this threat. In the meantime, hang tough and wipe out the bad guys.

lebanese civilian casualties and bad press headlines are unpleasant but collateral damage will occur. if you want to win the war you have to want to win the war and then take steps to win the war. firing on all moving vehicles south of litani is a start. the next step would be completely terminating all electricity in lebanon and cellular communications - this will hamper the enemies ability to communicate and fight. a further step would be the destruction of all buildings near where the enemy is located in an effort to deny him shelter and cover. A third step would be the destruction of the enemy's capital city, thus removing the command and control elements. does olmert have the will to win? somehow i doubt it.
