Fred ,   Newyork, NY   (08.10.06)
Carpet Bombing S. Lebanon is the Only answer to the problem. Germany was being carpet bomb for 2 years before alliance forces sent ground troops.
62. Interesting
James ,   USA   (08.10.06)
Hezbollah seems to be killing mostly soldiers while the IDF (supposedly the most moral army on Earth) is killing most, if not all, civilians. That paints a clear picture of who the real terrorists are. Don't respond with the common bullsh*t of "hezbollah uses civilians as human shields or hides among them" because bombing an apartment building full of civilians isn't justified just because a few Hezbollah militants are in there. Hezbollah's members are Lebanese so of course they're going to be among the Lebanese!
63. #47 is Wrong

The French would quickly surrender rather than invade a country firing rockets at them.
64. go home
Abu Arab ,   nablus, falasteen   (08.10.06)
Hiz is waiting for you honey pie soldiers, they are sure hungry. go home relax and make love or go to the beach, natanya and ceserea are my favorite, summer is drifting away go enjoy the sun have a dip in the see with wify or fiance enjoy life better than risking your life or go and serve in Gaza or the west Bank its a little easier now than lebanon but it will not stay the same for long they are learning from Hiz fighters
65. U.S. TIES ISRAEL'S HANDS MORE SOLDIERS ARE KILLED.
Sisto Maximo ,   New York.U.S.A.   (08.10.06)
The U.S. say they support Israel but they also tie Israel's hands and expect the IDF to act like cops in Los Angeles policing a gang neighborhood in Compton. This is not a Police Action it is a WAR. If IDF thinks a building is full of Terrorists take out the building don't go in and do a room to room search like a L.A.P.D. house search. This is a recipe for disaster and a lot of dead soldiers. The U.S. for P.R. purposes trying to satisify the international community who support the terrorists tells Israel to keep civilian casulties down works against and makes Israel's objectives that much more diffilcult to attain. This also gives the terrorists motivation that the U.S. is sitting on the fence . The U.S. is losing in Iraq because of the same police action mentality and many troops are killed. Haveing the U.S. as an allie in these terrible times is not a good thing when they are not serious in the WAR ON TERRORISM.
66. Stop being like the us israelies
Dave ,   New York, USA   (08.10.06)
Israelies try to be like us americans too much, look how easily we got through iraq, and they havent been able to do half of what we did in more time.

69. 11 Frustrating Rules. A must-post
Libneniyyeh ,   Lebanon   (08.10.06)
Rule # 1: In the Middle East, it is always the Arabs that attack first, and it`s always Israel who defends itself. This is called "Retaliation". Rule # 2: The Arabs, whether Palestinians or Lebanese, are not allowed to kill Israelis. This is called "Terrorism" Rule # 3: Israel has the right to kill Arab civilians, this is called "Self-Defense", or these days "Collateral Damage". Rule # 4: When Israel kills too many civilians. The Western world calls for restraint. This is called the "Reaction of the International Community". Rule # 5: Palestinians and Lebanese do not have the right to capture Israeli military, not even a limited number, not even 1 or 2. This is called "Kidnapping". Rule # 6: Israel has the right to capture as many Palestinians as they want (Palestinians: around 10000 to date, 300 of which are children, Lebanese: 1000s to date, being held without trial). There is no limit; there is no need for proof of guilt or trial. This is called "War on Terrorism". Rule # 7: When you say "Hezbollah", always be sure to add "supported by Syria and Iran". this is called: "Axis of Evil" Rule # 8: When you say "Israel", never say "supported by the USA, the UK and other European countries", for people (God forbid) might believe this is not an equal conflict. This is called "Helping our Friends". Rule # 9: When it comes to Israel, don`t mention the words "occupied territories", "UN resolutions", "Geneva conventions". This could distress the audience and is called "Anti-Semitism". Rule # 10: Israelis speak better English than Arabs. This is why we let them speak out as much as possible, so that they can explain rules 1 through 9. This is called "Neutral Journalism". Rule # 11: If you don`t agree with these rules or if you favor the Arab side over the Israeli side, you must be a very dangerous anti-Semite. You may even have to make a public apology if you express your honest opinion like Mel Gibson. this is called "Democracy".--------
70. Mr citizen, the world...
annie ,   NY NY   (08.10.06)
Maybe you don't know history as well as you claim to--Israel never would've been an entitiy if it were for the Arab world (and most of the UN world, while we're at it)--SEVEN arab nations attacked a fledgling Israel even before there ever WAS a so-called palestinian issue. Then and later, wars were initiated by the arab countries that to this day pledge to wipe Israel of the map--no peace, no nothing. What kind of justice are you talking about? The one where Jewish children in pre- and post-1948 palestine-then-Israel were shot by snipers on the way to school, or the one where suicide bombers targeted school-buses, pizzerias, bus-stops, and any other place where they could get their hands on civilians--prefereble women and children? Or the justice where tens of millions turned against 600,000 in 1948? Or the justice where no matter what Israel tried to do to 'accomodate' the palestinians, was 'rewarded' by more escalation of the suicide bombing, terrorist actions, and aggression against Israel? Or did you mean the justice of terrorists smuggling into ISRAEL, killing eight, kidnapping two, and then claiming that Israel is the one who started the aggression????? Maybe check the dictionary, the history books, and some other resources before you speak so in such a simple-minded way about the 'equitable solution'. Or maybe as citizen of 'the world' you side with the majority that doesn't care if Israel is eradicated off the map as long as you sit in your comphy safe living room someplace and YOUR kids aren't blown to smitherins in the mall.
71. real loser
meni   (08.10.06)
is lebanon. arabs cheering the war should think about the arab suffering started by hizbollah via iran. in the end israel will get some sort of peaceful situation and rebuild, but lebanon will be torn to bits. meanwhile in iran, they build nuclear weapons and laugh at the arabs and jews killing each other.
72. Israel can win this war military
sal Azam ,   Chicago USA   (08.10.06)
Sending 10,000-25,000 elite/reservists along with tanks, armord cars, F-16's, drones, gun boats is not enough. I personally think Israel should sent at least 100,000 of its armed forces inside lebanon and finish Hizbullah once and for all. Teach Iran an Syria a lesson they never forget. Israel should use full of its conventional forces in Lebanon. I am sure the IDF has learned its lessons from the United States forces in Iraq not to repeat the same mistakes. If it applies full force in Lebanon it might win a decisive war and crush Hizbullah once and for all. Half hearted probe kind of fighting will not do the job. 100 % full conventional capability, naval, Air force and especially ground forces are important. It's better to die once then to live and die in humiliation every day for the sake of your country oh Israel wake up and show the world that you are the chosen one and cannot loose at all. Amen. Hashem is with "you".

76. #20 Jack from France
Richard ,   USA   (08.10.06)
We don't need any input from French-surrender-monkees. How many Algerians did you guys kill before you did your usual surrender? By the way, was it 70,000 of your Jewish citizens who you sent to die in Nazi death camps. We really don't need your advice and you have no moral right to criticize anything Israel has or will do to prevent a further extermination of Jews.
77. Stop the war now!
Texan ,   TX, USA   (08.10.06)
It is apparent that cease fire will be implemented very soon, so every dead soldier's mother and child will ask for years, If that had happened only only only 1 day sooner, my love one would be alive next to me!
78. DEALING WITH THE DEVIL: The UN Threat to Israel
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.10.06)
Don't let the deaths of the brave IDF soldiers be for nothing! national review online August 07, 2006 Dealing with the Devil A diplomatic disaster in the making. By Anne Bayefsky Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is on the brink of handing President Bush the worst diplomatic disaster of his presidency. She is poised to agree to two United Nations resolutions that will tie the hands of both Israel and the United States in the war on terror and, in particular, inhibit future action on its number one state sponsor — Iran. The catastrophe is the brainchild of Secretary General Kofi Annan, who has effectively turned the United Nations into the political wing of Hezbollah. In the last three weeks, a multi-headed hydra of U.N. actors has risen to defeat Israel on the political battlefield in an unprecedented disregard of the U.N. Charter’s central tenet: the right of self-defense. But how did the U.N. respond to the aggression against the U.N. member state of Israel, which was launched once again from Lebanese territory and which continues to the present hour? By accusing Israel of murder, mass genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, the deliberate attack of children, and racism. U.N. actors have even denied that Hezbollah is a terrorist organization and analogized it to anti-Nazi resistance movements... The Geneva Conventions clearly state that combatants are prohibited from using civilians as human shields, but if they do so, the presence of civilians does not render the area immune from military operations. Israeli soldiers and civilians are paying with their lives daily as a consequence of Israel’s efforts to avoid disproportionate action — a dramatic exercise of restraint taken in order to reduce Lebanese civilian casualties... The United Nations seeks to: (1) protect Hezbollah from further Israeli attacks; (2) produce a political win for Hezbollah by giving them the territorial prize of the Shebaa Farms ; and (3) increase U.N. presence, oversight, and control of the Arab-Israeli conflict. It calls for renewed involvement of UNIFIL, the U.N. troops that stood and watched Hezbollah rearm and plan its deadly assault on a U.N. member state for the last six years. Such an international force is to be authorized under the first-ever Chapter VII resolution — a legally binding resolution that can be implemented through sanctions or the use of force — in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict. In other words, Secretary Rice has approved of a U.N.-authorized and monitored force that has its sights set on Israel too, coupled with a claim that Israel is currently engaged in “offensive” operations. The very U.N. that accuses Israel of murder and heinous violations of international law is now to be charged with judging compliance with a legally binding instrument purporting to define the terms and conditions of Israel’s self-defense... There will be only one sure result of this move — the empowerment of terrorists whose ultimate target is the United States and all democratic values. Secretary Rice’s belief that there is a serious convergence between the United Nations agenda and American foreign-policy needs in the age of terrorism is a profound error in judgment for which democratic societies everywhere will be forced to pay a heavy price. http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=ODQyMGNlYWM5NzIzZGFhOTNlZDAxMmM2YTRkOWRjYzE=

Pavel ,   Moscow, Russia   (08.10.06)

82. hey 66
James ,   Humansville, USA   (08.10.06)
Going through Iraq and actually winning are 2 different things. We have yet to win because we were more concerned with getting through Iraq and not mopping the mess up as we went. We should have totally disarmed every household we went by and then there would not be all these terrorist bombings now .

Israel cannot afford to stop now. The hell with the UN resolutions, they mean absolutely nothing. The UN can care less if Israel exists or not. Carpet bomb all the villages, destroy all the houses before the infantry goes in. Civilians killed?? NOT MY PROBLEM>. It's their civilians or ours, i rather it be theirs!!!

Todd ,   Detroit, USA   (08.10.06)
You are a typical Jew. SO brave from NYC. Why don't you pack up and go to the front and see if you can do better than Israelis Generals Can. COWARD. You have no business being in Lebanon and South Lebanon will be a Graveyard for your young soliders. Just stop the war now and let the mothers of these young soliders see their kids grow and become a good world citizen instead of a being a child killer
89. Blame Olmert
Yaakov ,   US   (08.10.06)
This is what the Israeli population wanted. This moron, Olmert, was voted in to Knesset. If there wasn't such a left-wing government in office, Hizbullah would have never tried to attack Israel, they would have been too afraid. Kahane would have brought all the fires of the world to the PA and Hizbullah. This wimp Olmert is always whining and sad and fears for Israel, what sort of LEADER is this. Did you really think a whining wimp would get you peace. Do you really think peace is possible with Islamo-facists who want to cut the throat of every Jew? What on earth were you Israeli's thinking! This is the inevitable conclusion to a Likud victory. Olmert should be sent out to southern Lebanon instead of these brave reservist
