31. there are other people that also have something to say
peleg   (08.15.06)
I wish the news would stop update us with comments from idiots like Ahmedinejad & co and start publishing opinions from wise people, like this one for example: http://www.menapress.com/article.php?sid=1479
32. Gaza, All Over Again
emanon ,   USA   (08.15.06)
Remmember the pattern after the terrorists went into Gaza after the Israeli government wrongly gave the land away? There was massive celebration preceding a sharp increasre in violenece. The terrorists got themselves all worked up over their "victory" and instead of being appeased, they became even more blood thirsty. Sadly, I see the same pattern starting again. They wil get all worked up over this victory and will want more. Combine this with the desire to seek revenge for their dead, their culture of living to die martyrs and their religion preaching hatred of Israel, and I see a new beginning to the cycle of violence. I do not advocate Israel perfoming any pre-emptive actions, but I do believe they need to be on their guard now more than ever. Moving troops to strengthen positions withing Israel's borders are not contrary to the cease fire. Do it now, before it is too late.
33. Neo-Polarizations in the world
Sujoy Mukherjee ,   Delhi, India   (08.15.06)
Old issues in the arena of international politics are having ever newer effects now. Newer loyalties are shaping out of the debris of Kosovo, Belgrade, Somalia, Sudan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Labanon, each time the international community takes a step towards better management of world affairs. Watch out ! new alignments are shaping up public opinions in countries in Latin America, Koreas, China, Indonesia, Africa and even continental Europian countries like Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, Netherlands etc, not to talk of the Balkans.....the sholars of 'International relations' should be more vigilant about the fast changing scenarios in the political world. Like skilled weathermen they need to closely observe the changing wind speeds, directions, moisture contents and resulting changes in various local climates of various geographies...we are witnessing a very critical and fast-changing phase of the human history and let our eyes and mind be sharper and cover a larger view at this crucial juncture. All this, friends, without going into the nature and details of the newly emerging trends of the times.
34. The lack of Arab Mind
Are you kidding ,   Sanity   (08.15.06)
Explain to me a people who proclaim victory after their cities are absolutely destroyed. Israel bombed the buildings and forces of the lebanese at will. The nation has been left in complete ruin. Israel steadily advanced north and won every single battle it entered. Sure, the arabs can still blow themselves up. They can still hide behind children and shoot. The arabs have condemned lebanon to poverty and squallor and still proclaim victory. How do you defeat an enemy that relishes defeat? That rejoices when its cities are ruined? How do you defeat an enemy that cherishes and hopes for death?

Put down the whiskey bottle for a minute. You mean to say you would like to hear people in Washington DC start talking about "wiping Iran off the face of the Earth"? Or you want Bush to deny the Holocaust? Or you want Bush to encourage people to draw cartoons that make fun of holocaust atrocities? You're an idiot if you want a Superpower to start talking like the President of Iran.

15) I accept what you are saying about the historical treatment of the Jews by Arabs in some of these North African countries. However, you will be well aware that anti-Semitism is not confined to the Arab world. In fact, it was manifested in its most extreme form in Germany a mere 70 years ago. It has also been rife in most other mainland European countries for many centuries. Indeed, as James Joyce said, Ireland did not persecute the Jews for the simple reason that it never allowed any in. (This is not quite true: there was once a thriving Jewish community here in Dublin but it is now alas in decline.) And anti-Semitism is still very much alive and well in the good ole U S of A. Ahmadinejad (and most other Muslims) go to considerable lengths to point out that they are not anti-Semitic, simply anti-Zionist. 12) I'm aware that I would risk carrying my teeth home in my pocket if I told an Iranian he was an Arab. Indeed, I lived in Australia for a time and my own reaction was similar whenever Australians mistook me for a Pommie. However, if the Iranian mindset is not similar to that of their Arab co-religionists then Mr Patai's book is even more flawed than I had thought and the Washington hawks are even more misguided in using it as an aid to understanding the psychology of their Iranian adversaries. 12) I don't think it's at all helpful to label all "Arabs" as rats. And I have been to Disney World and heard Mickey say “Oh boy!”, “That sure is swell!”, “Gosh!”, “Aw, gee”, and “See ya soon!”. I didn't have any difficulty in understanding these simple phrases. Do you? It's my great fear that either Israel or America will drop a nuclear bomb on both Damascus and Tehran in the not too distant future.
37. To #1 Rivera

40. Learn to love
Michael ,   Australia   (08.15.06)
Hey man, I've lived here all my life. I have learned that every nation has the good and the bad. Learn to love, give the land back then talk about love not nuking people. After all, you have more nukes than any one else in the area. Without the support of veto after veto, you would have respected your neighbours. In 1973 Egypt earned it's respect by taking back what it's rightfully hers. You guys jumped to the US. That's Ok, People earn respect. Give the arabs equal power and see how courageous you will be. But history tells us that the jew, christains and the other fellows lived together without war. I think Mel Gibson is right. Anyway, I don't hate, I have mates of all sorts and really don't care or give a rats ass, but give back what you took and all will be happy. One other thing. Everything starts with the word LOVE. The blood inside one is the same as that of another fellow human being. LOVE.. Cheers champ.
41. VICTIRY?
Lebanese ,   Australia   (08.15.06)
I think it is a victory to Iran paid for by Lebanese & Israeli blood. It is a defeat to both Lebanon & Israel.
42. Israeli Leaders DESPICABLE BETRAYAL of KIDNAPPED IDF
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (08.15.06)
As brave IDF heroes fight and die for Israel, IDF soldiers are forced to suffer the anguish and demoralization of leaders who refuse to stand behind them. The lives of courageous IDF mean absolutely nothing to Israel's leaders who are cruel to Jews, but repeatedly show mercy to Israel's enemies. The UN resolution only refers to a return of the kidnapped soldiers in its preamble and not among the document's actual clauses. There is no mention of the kidnapped soldier in the south, Gilad Shalit. For the first time in the history of Israel, Israel's leaders surrender in war and treasonously support the UN Resolution which threatens Israel's survival.

Man,you are really one blind irishman.you only saw what you wanted to see,Given the facts that not all arabs are prone to violence and that not all Iranians are as jerked off as their NUT CASE PRES,but you have got to bee kidding ,when you say you actually believed the crzap he said in his Interview;;;This MAD MAN calls for the destruction total of another nation,Israel in this case, and you think that he's to be talked too??I wonder who is the NUT here?Visiting,Morroco and Tunisia;will not, bring you up todate ,with the Iranian logic,.and I think you have seriously insulted the "People of Iran and all Arabs,Who simply have no connection with this FARM IDIOT. My G-D and you call him reasonable???Its your head that has to be seen toCorish, and yes one NEGOTIATES WITH ONES ENEMY,BUT NOT WITH HITLERS REINCARNATION.YOU ARE REALLY A STUPID PERSON.
45. Iran's "Warnings"
JohnJ ,   Boston USA   (08.15.06)
Iran sucks. The "president" is a frickin dope and anyone who gives credence to this terrorist in a suit is an idiot too
46. The Arab mind is full of dung
Jim ,   NYC/USA   (08.15.06)
How insecure can you be? How cowardly can one be? To run around and claim victory where none exists, this is the acts of children and cowards. I predict this BS cease fire wont hold. I predict that Iran has been rearming Hizbollah since the cease fire took effect. I further predict that Israel will again be forced to attack a re-armed Hizbollah and the indigenous collaborative guilty civilian population that allows these scum bags to operate in their houses and villages. I say...to hell with them all. they are a bonafide enemy of Israel who threatens her very chances of ever living in a peaceful existance. Its time to wipe that threat out COMPLETELY. If they flee the area when Israel warns them via leaflets of an impending attack or calls them ON THEIR HOME PHONE to tell them to get rid of the missiles in their home...and they ignore it...then I say they deserve to be blown to shreds...it would do the world a favor of ridding the people of the earth of what has to be the stupidest most dangerous humans on the planet. then i think Iran should try to send missiles across Iraq into Israel...the US is right there and we all know the Iranians are cowards and wouldnt dare mess with the US...just ask Saddam. By the way any of you democrats out there...here is the real value of Iraq, what do you think is holding Iran back..us in Iraq...liberals are such fools. Go Bush, GO ISRAEL! Kick terrorist SCUM butts!
47. IRAN MORE VULNERABLE NOW!!
David ,   Australia   (08.15.06)
The choice to go to war ultimately was a strategic one made by Israel. The Israelis did not act 'emtionally' but were waiting for this opportunity to degrade Iran's 2nd front, Hezbollah in the situation their nuclear facilities were attacked - a kind of bargaining chip or blackmail that FAILED DISMALLY!! Now with a 15,000 strong international force to intervene, an embargo as well as destroyed bridges and roads Iran cannot count on Hezbollah to be much of a force when it's nuclear facilities are attacked probably by the US. Instead of Iran getting the US to back off a strike to spare Israel now the door is wide open for an attack on Iran with Israel prepared and knowing what to expect. Hezbollah have stupidly shown their cards too early. When the US attacks Iran it will be interesting to see just how effective Hezbollah will be with their few thousand rockets remaining and with not enough time to rearm to get America to back off destroying Iran's nuclear infrastructure. A degraded Hezbollah allows America to 'go, go, go!!' with little or no concern of Israel being harmed in the process. Another point. MANY of Hezbollah's rockets that killed civilians killed ARABS. God is looking over the Jews in ways it cannot fathom!!
48. Iranian Celebration
Brod ,   USA   (08.15.06)
The Iranians who sponsored Hezbollah might have a point. They could argue that it took the legendary IDF more than 30 days to subdue a tiny enclave in S. Lebanon from Hezbollah--equivalent to just one militia in Lebanon. Despite that, Hezbollah could still rain rockets at Israel. They could boast that the IDF decimated the entire surrounding Arab States within just 6days in the 1967 War but a tiny Lebanese militia could take the punch from the IDF for more than 30 days. Hence, they could celebrate their perceived "victory". Their next argument would be if this was the case, how could the IDF take on Iran which is far larger than Lebanon. Furthermore, Iran has been supplied by Russia with ICBMs capable of hitting targets at more than 1000 miles away. And they are getting close to getting their nukes. They could argue that if the IDF could not shoot at the small Katyushas that Hezbollah has been raining on Israel, how could they ever shoot down Iran's long-range ICBMs. It is a scenario between David and Goliath. The latter taunted David. But David did not fear Goliath. In fact, David approached Goliath, picked up a pebble and hurled it at Goliath. And the pebble became like a machine gun bullet hitting Goliath right at his forehead. What made David fearless and strong was that he had the Spirit of GOD with him. When GOD is with His people no enemies could prevail against Israel. A lesson that can be learned from the war with Hezbollah is that Israel should not change their modus operandi in defending itself. The model that Israel should have used should be the same model that Rabin and his top Generals used in the 1967 War. In that war, the politicians left it to their top Generals to defend the nation. The Generals accomplished their objectives quickly, effectively and efficiently with outstanding results. Similarly, if the Generals were given a free hand to accomplish their goal, they could have wiped off Hezbollah from Lebanon within 12 hours. Hence, if there is a review of this war, the Generals should not be faulted. It appears that the politicians have been constraining the IDF from executing their work fully that would have made them as legendary as their predecessors in 1967. And before Iran celebrates and boasts further about what they would and could do to annihilate Israel, they better understand that in a battle between David and Goliath, David would still win decisively. The GOD of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob was and will still be with David. And so long as David is faithful to his GOD, no enemies or dark forces could prevail against him.

"you negotiate with your enemies" Alot of good that did Europe before World War II!

Michelle   (08.15.06)
Finally, someone get's it. "Next generation missiles will reach Central Europe." Indeed. I wonder how long it will take Europe to blame the Americans though? "Beware World" This is what we get for negotiating with our enemies!
51. #37 You choose to be oppressed

Stop playing the victim role over and over. It is not working.
52. I'll tell you what a stupid Hispanic knows...
Montag ,   Florida   (08.15.06)
Being born in Nicaragua, I can tell you all that Syria has always had their hand in the terrorist cookie jar. They provided tons of help to the Sandinistas (Totalitarian opressive regime) as well as Shining Path, Tupac Amaru (both Hispanic terrorist organisations), and let's not forget the IRA. I think being hispanic gives me plenty of liscence to comment on middle eastern affairs, seeing as to how Syria has gone out of their way to help kill innocents, not just in the middle east, but all around the world.
53. Bring 'em on, Khatamei
El hombre ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.15.06)
Are the shihab much worse than the scuds? Not really? Bring 'em on, Khatamei! We survived, Hitler, we survived Saddam. So you don't scare us.
54. We must Watch what Iran says
Avi ,   USA   (08.15.06)
Iran is not bluffing and Israel must take good care that Iran doesn't surprise Israel. Iran believes it has won the war in Lebanon and I believe this is not it but the start of things.\ \
55. Iran's Claim of Victory
Andy ,   New Jersey   (08.15.06)
The iranian leadership is insane and out of touch with reality. These claims from a country that counterfeits’ Pepsi Cola and disavows the holocaust.
56. To Christian Lebanese # 37
Michelle   (08.15.06)
"What does a stupid hispanic Rivera has to do with the struggle in middle east." What is a stupid Christian Lebanese doing on a Jewish website? "As a hispanic, you should be the first one who knows what does it mean to be a racist, and opressed like palestinians, and lebanese." As a Christian Lebanese, you should be more worried about the influence of Iran and Syria in your country. You are a Christian and Iran and Syria are both muslim majority who aim to turn your country into a muslim majority. So when they start blowing up your churches and killing your fellow Christians like they did in Damour, don't come crying to the West to help. You made friends with the devil...live with it.
57. Palestinian
Michelle   (08.15.06)
"you said UN RESOLUTION GAVE VICTORY TO LEBANON HIZBULLAH-SYRIA-IRAN" True! "That is not true.... THEY EARNED IT...put that on your website." Earned my ass! If it were not for the UN resolution....Israel would still be pounding Hezbollah's ass into the dirt.
58. a reason to get out some steam
steven ,   france   (08.15.06)
The only real reason these Irainians are out rejoicing in the streets,is because ,its the only opportunity they have to have some fun;;These people are constantly watched by the Mujahdine police verry closely, every move they make the clothes they wear, who they talk too, etc, etc,So if these poor irainians want to let off some steam ,this is their chance;;;Not all Iranians are ,Mollaha loving freeks; If they want to screem and shout that the Hizbullshiters have won the war, then let them, they really don't have too many occasions to have fun..like sweet throwing and flag waving;;;etc etc.The only real menace to world stability is their poor little MADMAN,the Hitler reincarnate,,,that is were the real world danger lies;;;Together with the infatuated Syrian kid,,,ASSAD,So if a few Irainians want to shout scoobidoo, and wave a few flags,so what;;;;They do this all the time;;;;and they are not even ARABS.Figure this one out..
59. Iranians Celebrate
Joanne ,   Wood Ridge, NJ / USA   (08.15.06)
These people are either brainwashed, braindead or there brains have been fried in the desert! Whatever the case may be, their leader is bringing them to the very edge of that slippery slope of destruction. No, its NOT one world...never could be. But, religious differences tere will always be and killing over these differences (as we have seen time and time again with these fanatics) does not appease ANY persons god, it only kills the innocents and pushes the kilers and their followers back, further into the dark ages!
60. Goodbye Tehran
Ernie Oporto ,   United States   (08.15.06)
If Iran shoots missles at Tel Aviv, Tehran will be reduced to a glass stain on the planet. C'mon Ahmadinejad, bring it on. You talk about using the bomb... we've already used them and will share some radiation with you, too. Iran needs a slapdown and is going to get it.
