61. If You Want to Preserve Israel
George ,   Atlanta, GA   (08.15.06)
Get Olmert and ALL his cabinet out - fast! This will send a message to foe and friend alike that Israel will not tolerate weakness. Otherwise, your days are numbered, I'm afraid. The world is NOT going to bail out a weak Jewish state.
62. Do you have any other choice, Peretz? I guess not
Ahmad Abouali ,   nablus   (08.15.06)
after the beating you got in Lebanon in which you and the USA tried to crush your way into Lebanon, for 34 days, over the bodies of women and children, Now you have no choice but to make sense as humans not as terrorists. the time when you threat Arabs had gone forever, thanks to Syria, Iran and Hizbullah. BYE, BYE : IDF, welcome sanity
63. Talk? Shmalk!
Eddie ,   England   (08.15.06)
The BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/4794363.stm) says the following about President Assad’s recent utterance: - - - - - - - - - - - Mr Assad, speaking in Damascus a day after the UN-brokered ceasefire took effect, was giving his first speech on the crisis since it began more than a month ago. He said Israel had been defeated and Hezbollah had "hoisted the banner of victory", following the month-long conflict. He added that peace in the Middle East was not possible with the Bush administration in power in Washington. "This is an administration that adopts the principle of pre-emptive war that is absolutely contradictory to the principle of peace," he said. "Consequently, we don't expect peace soon or in the foreseeable future." - - - - - - - - - - - Does Assad not see that Hezbollah followed precisely this ‘principle of pre-emptive war’ in carrying out an unprovoked attack on the sovereign territory of Israel? Is he really too stupid to see the contradiction in his own words? Or that providing materiel and support to Hezbollah is also ‘absolutely contradictory to the principle of peace’? How can anyone have constructive talks with a cretin like that? As the old saying goes (suitably euphemised), “Bullsh*t baffles brains”.
64. Israel Unite - Insist on a Knesset "Vote of No Confidence"
Bless! Israel ,   USA   (08.15.06)
Have Olmert and crew removed ASAP. Get Bibi for PM. Remember, no more "sitting dove" PM's for Israel.
65. MENTALY ILL
Reuven ,   Santa Cruz   (08.15.06)
Peretz making a statements regarding negotoating with Syria immediately after verbal war threats from Syria and their continued supply of rockets to hezbollah is shocking; however we should expect such ravings from a professioinally incompetent minister for defense, and an individual who is mentally disturbed. What is it going to take for ISRAEL TO WAKE UP , GOD FORBID, ITS TOTAL DESTRUCTION. CHANGE YOUR LEADERSHIP NOW!
66. they're crazy
Paul Freedman ,   Falls Church, VA   (08.15.06)
WTF indeed. They're just crazy, saps, maroons. Iran, talk to them too. Let's talk to the Ruskies, find the whereabouts of Adolph's bones--dig those up, and talk to him! unbelieveable ....
67. Talk with Syria? Are you nuts?!
Ephraim ,   Israel   (08.15.06)
68. Peretz, King of Israel
Aido ,   Tel Aviv   (08.15.06)
We are with you Peretz. Negotiation is the only way to acheive peace.
69. SCHOOL BOY OVER OPTIMISM!
wayne hutchinson ,   toronto, canada   (08.15.06)
70. Adding insult to injury
Gillious ,   Canada   (08.15.06)
Peretz should resign now!! He already led the army to its worst defeat in israeli history. The Israeli public should speak out over this...All this is fitting though, coming from a guy who spent his living organizing mass strikes.
71. Give me a break
James Biga ,   Colorado Springs USA   (08.15.06)
Hizbollah has NOT been defeated. They still have their support lines open to Damascus and Tehran. They are being praised as heroes. As foe suffering a major price, these people wish to die as martyrs. Their clerics claim they are just that. Olert better either wake up or step down. He is not the man to lead Israel in these times. He sounds like a UN diplomat.
72. #62 dont laugh too soon
megan ,   Israel   (08.15.06)
the Israeli public may just demand this buffoon goes, and be swayed to BIBI or Leiberman, then thank your islmac fanatics
73. Make Syria an Offer It Can't Refuse
Ephraim ,   Chatsworth, USA   (08.15.06)
To remove Hizbullah & Hamas, make Assad an offer he can't refuse. Just as with Libya's Kaddafi, give Syria economic and political strength through the U.S. & European benefits IF they remove all ties to terrorist organizations. Assad is a pinhead, autocrat and is in grave danger of losing his grip on Syria if Israel attacks and destroys his military. Israel & the U.S. do not want another Islamofascist country. We must keep Assad in power as long as possible (just like the U.S. blew it on the Shah of Iran). The Iraq situation would also benefit if Syria were out of the equation. Iran would be isolated by all the Arab nations. Syria is a predominantely Sunni country and against Shia Iran. This opportunity should not be missed. Condeleeza Rice should be making extreme overtures to turn Syria away from potential disaster for all (Islamofascist gov't). Hizbollah and Iran would love to overtake Syria and make it their country. I hope Peretz has this in mind-a long term (well as long as Assad lives) solution.
74. Absolute Delusional Thinking
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (08.15.06)
Peretz is patently insane and delusional. He needs a rubber room. Not two ! days after he helped hand Hizbullah a triumph he calls for negotiating with the country who faciliated all the lethal weapons that killed Israeli citizens. This would be like a US leader calling for negotiations with Hitler in the middle of the war, or even after. The pathetic leadership is not only a danger to Israelis but to Jews worldwide. If the regime keeps championing aliyah they better get busy protecting its citizens. Otherwise they will go down in history as those who lost our homeland for good.
75. Peretz: Prepare for negotiations with Syria
Ian Marr ,   London, UK   (08.16.06)
Politicians Like Peretz have courage and should be cherished. He is very sensible and at least someone has any sense. If israel has to survive it needs peace with its neighbours and cannot achieve this unless Arab lands are returned and there is a fair settlement for Palestinians. Creating a Bantuland type Palestine is not going to end war either. After Lebanon there is one lesson that you can bomb a nation to oblivion but a small but determined opposition can cause immense damage. Worst case scenario imagine if there was something nasty on the rockets instead of low intensity explosive.
76. PERETZ:LET'S TURN THE CLOCK 61 YEARS BACK
NO TO PERETZ ,   TX,USA   (08.16.06)
PERETZ:MAYBE WE COULD HAVE NEGOTIATIONS WITH HITLER AND THE 6 MILLION JEWISH PEOPLE WOULD NOT BE KILLED.OR EVEN BETTER WE COULD HAVE NEGOTIATIONS WITH SYRIA AND HOPEFUL THE DREAMS THAT I HAVE AT NIGHT WILL COME TRUTH AND TERRORISM WILL STOP.
77. More Hashish Diplomacy
Maccabee Plan ,   Perth, Australia   (08.16.06)
Peretz, do not inhale! You are in charge of the defence of Israel, so stop daydreaming, and leave the diplomacy to the lawyers. Bashar is not riding towards you on a magical pony for a love-in. He is sending out his army of terrorists and bunker rats to kill us. Your weakness has emboldened a Syrian coward to dream of retaking the Golan, you hippy fool. Stop trying to befriend a snake. Annex all enemy territory used to attack Israel that the IDF has spilled blood to capture. Send them only commandoes to snatch the abducted soldiers back, and perhaps one more missile for their hospitality. I fear that Olmert and Peretz is the wrath of Hashem already upon us, for allowing the ongoing desecration of the Temple. We need a Maccabee, and all we have is a Peretz.
