Rob Reiner has a lot to say about Mel Gibson's "Passion". Why? What is he afraid of? The story of Jesus was told quite well according to the Gospel. I suspect that Rhiener is always looking behind himself, Watching to see if there is any reason for him to put up the flag of "Anti-semitism". The holocaust Is over, we will never forget what happened. But to point at anyone who is not a Jew, and insinuate, or accuse a person of being against the Jews is really stupidity. There are other religions! And The Passion tried to explain what happened in most realistic terms to believers of Jesus Christ.

Obviously Rob Reiner is trying his best to get his failing "career" back into the limelight by his ridiculous comments. The Passion of the Christ portrayed the crucifixion accurately. gibson has apologised, notwithstanding all the monday morning psychoanalysis that continues to occur....fact of the matter, ALL of the 'passion' movies could be called 'anti-semitic' for the simple reason that the gospels themselves point out that it was the jewish high council, the sandherin, who sent the temple guards to seize jesus by night, and their subsequent knagaroo trial of Him....considering tall the other excesses that Gibson used in the attempt to faithfully tell the gospel (which i think was overdone) his protrayal of the jewish leaders was no more inflammatory , no accusatory, nor anti-semitic than the gospels themselves..... andrew young just denigrated several different classes and races, where is the frenzy? he apologised also, it should be left at that...

Leon, the New Testament and the Old Testament are both sparcely supported by historical evidence, it is true. There is no proof that Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, the twelve sons of Jacob, Moses, or the Children of Israel as described entering the land of Israel ever lived, but I believe they did, just as the Bible says. I also believe what the NT says about the Jew, Jesus. You are correct, it does come down to faith for both OT and NT believers. We do have trustworthy lines of transmission for both the OT and NT, better than for any other documents in history, including such works as Plato and Josephus. So, my faith in the historical basis of the Scriptures is not unreasonable, nor is my claim for their historical accuracy.

I find it amazing that the people who do not support Israel and think Bible believers are ignorant are the ones so angry and calling Mel a Jewish hater. However, his contacting the various leaders of the Jewish community indicate his realization that he has made a terrible mistake, and is asking for their forgiveness. You are entiltled to your own opinion, but not to your own facts...obviously, you are ignorant of history...Jesus was a historical figure of which there is absolute proof that he existed. Your statement is just plain ignorant. However, you can say, in your opinion that he wasn't God, which in my opinion, is ignorant as well, but you can't say there is no proof he ever existed. Silly statements like that negate anything further you have to say on the subject because it shows your total lack of secular history.

I'm not aware of Gibson's politics but it must be conservative. Why does Hollywood or anyone with the liberal bent critisize a person who makes a so-called "racist" statement. Case in point : Andrew Young, Harry Belafonte, Senator Byrd the list goes on.

This film depicted the events as the Bible decsribes them. It is God's word and is backed up by many witnesses. Anyone who has read the Bible knows that it is not Anti-Semetic. Our sin put Jesus on the cross, not the Jews or Romans. It would not have happened if it were not for our sin.

It was this group that placed much emphasis their belief that Jesus' teaching were sacrilegious, and the reason why Jesus was sent to Pilate and Herod for judgement. They, through their actions, and the stir they created in the population that Barabbas be released from prison, and Jesus take his place and be crucified. This is documented in the Bible whether it be the King James version or the Roman Catholic version. How is this anti-semitism?
