Speaking as a secular Jew, I am astounded by the primitive attitudes of the religious Jews and their comments against gays. They make me ashamed of my religion and I quite understand why others should consider Judaism as intolerant and backward. People do not choose to be gay or straight, they are born with a sexual preference and to have to deny this is quite repressive. Surely the Jews should understand what it is like to be persecuted?
