Ryan ,   Calgary, Calgary   (09.28.06)
One incident, they were required to disarm. They resupplied instead. Those UNIFIL tanks look pretty old, I hight doubt they could out manouver one of those Merkavas, and does anyone think the french would actually fire at Israel. Everyone would be saying au revoir France.
32. To #14
jason white ,   afula,israel   (09.28.06)
Just olmert is an idiot?Fatboy and barak were no better!
33. #26...SUPERMAN
stephane ,   france   (09.28.06)
yes...yes...yes...idf can get out now from lebanon cause israel can feel secure by leaning on chad (superman) and unifil...ok chad, idf can leave and israel can lean on you for the security of israeli children...pfff....stupid dreamer.
34. IDF please simply fly over UNFIL tank
Robert ,   USA   (09.28.06)
Like was already mentioned here.. sounds like theatrics. If IDF wanted to, they would simply fly apache helicopter over UNFIL tank, not to mention drive the IDF tanks around.
35. #32 Jason: You are soooo right.
Bennie ,   Jerusalem   (09.29.06)
Israel has to break the string of losers we have had for PMs if we have any hope of surviving beyond the next few years. Our leadership has been more concerned about sucking up to the foreign press and governments than protecting the long-term interests of Isael and Jews.
36. Stopping Israeli Tanks
Joe Simon ,   Kfar Aviv, Israel   (09.29.06)
Did anyone really expect that the UNIFIL forces would stop Hizbulla? Let's face it. The Israeli leadership is either naive or stupid or both.
37. Nice ... white tanks ... flags no longer needed for Frogs
Centurion ,   Dallas USA   (09.29.06)
Now the french wont even need a flag to surrender.
38. Send 40 Merkavot and let's have fun
Francois ,   Montreal, Canada   (09.29.06)
39. White tanks
Francois ,   Montreal, Canada   (09.29.06)
The French are using white tanks because they want to surrender.
40. Vote Olmert now
Ignacio ,   Zaragoza, Spain   (09.29.06)
Olmert must go. This is another of his successes.
41. To #31 & #34
Hassan ,   Geneve   (09.29.06)
1) Actually, these are Leclerc tanks, latest generation tanks, on par with M1 Abrahams and more than a match for Merkava tanks, I wouldn't want to stand in front of them. Oh, and I highly doubt the israelis are interested in seeing their main export destination(European Union) decides a freeze of israeli assets and an embargo on Israel, so I don't think Israel is interested in touching a single hair of these french soldiers, that is obviously without counting on french miltary reprisals if you happen to be stupid enough to do it... 2) The french brought ground-air missiles and radars too, bad luck...
42. Fleeting force

"If it comes to war I (Hizb.) need a strong (IDF) hand".
43. To world citizen: New trophy system will protect tanks
John ,   usa   (09.29.06)
Israel won't always have Ehud olmert. There is a trophy system out for tanks that will be able to stope these rockets. There is also a radar jammer for tanks to stop the ied's. Olmert cut the budget all these years. This will change with a new govt.
44. #41 French Miltary reprisal = Surrender

45. The real reason this happened
Snir ,   NYC   (09.29.06)
DEBKAfile’s military sources: Hizballah is suspected of incursion Wednesday and ransacking of Israeli military arms and ammo store at Kibbutz Shomera September 27, 2006, 9:20 AM (GMT+02:00) A few hours later, an IDF force combed through the S. Lebanese village of Merwahin opposite Shomera and questioned the villagers about the robbery. DEBKAfile reports the thieves made off with a large quantity of side-arms, anti-tank weapons, LAU rockets and hundreds of combat grenades. Military investigators believe that a special Hizballah unit crossed into Israel, broke into the store and carried the stolen weapons back to Lebanon. Hizballah terrorists are familiar with the Shomera area. Not far from the kibbutz, they killed 8 Israeli soldiers and kidnapped Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev on July 12 in an ambush that ignited the Lebanon war. The cross-border break-in to an IDF installation is a gross violation of the August 14 ceasefire brokered by the United Nations. Please lets not kidd ourselves French Military Reprisals? hahahahaha. The French would never dare
46. TREACHEROUS UN Broadcast Israeli WAR Troop Movements
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (09.29.06)
Supporters and allies of Islamic terrorists, the UN betray Israel and the free world. The UN are a threat to every innocent on earth. Declare the anti-Jew anti-humanity UN resolution null and void. No UN "peace keepers" for terrorists! Israel MUST survive! www.theweeklystandard.com What did you do in the war, UNIFIL? You broadcast Israeli troop movements. by Lori Lowenthal Marcus 09/04/2006, DURING THE RECENT month-long war between Hezbollah and Israel, U.N. "peacekeeping" forces made a startling contribution: They openly published daily real-time intelligence, of obvious usefulness to Hezbollah, on the location, equipment, and force structure of Israeli troops in Lebanon. UNIFIL--the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, a nearly 2,000-man blue-helmet contingent that has been present on the Lebanon-Israel border since 1978--is officially neutral. Yet, throughout the recent war, it posted on its website for all to see precise information about the movements of Israeli Defense Forces soldiers and the nature of their weaponry and materiel, even specifying the placement of IDF safety structures within hours of their construction. New information was sometimes only 30 minutes old when it was posted, and never more than 24 hours old... Meanwhile, UNIFIL posted not a single item of specific intelligence regarding Hezbollah forces... http://www.theweeklystandard.com/Content/Public/Articles/000/000/012/622bqwjn.asp
47. FRENCH FM: "IRAN CONSTITUTES a STABALIZING FORCE"
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (09.29.06)
Iran repeatedly proclaim their goal is to wipe Israel off the map and destroy America. Iran is dangerously close in achieving nuclear capability to execute their genocidal goal. Does the French Foreign Minister consider Iran's genocidal goal a stabalizing force? www.jcpa.org EUROPE & WAR in LEBANON - Freddy Eytan * French Foreign Minister Douste-Blazy declared during a recent visit to Beirut that: “Iran constitutes a stabilizing force in the Middle East and it should be taken into account and included in any arrangement for restoring quiet to our region.” This was followed by a strange and incomprehensible meeting with the Iranian foreign minister in Beirut. It comes as no surprise that in a Le Monde interview on August 12, 2006, Douste-Blazy said the purpose of the enlarged UNIFIL in southern Lebanon would not include the disarming of Hizballah by force. Recently, French Maj.-Gen. Alain Pellegrini has commanded the UNIFIL force. Hizballah fortified its positions and brought in huge quantities of weapons and ammunition right under his nose. Did he warn of the arming of Hizballah by Iran and Syria? Did he prevent the kidnapping of the Israeli soldiers? http://www.jcpa.org/brief/brief006-7.htm
48. UN RESOLUTIONof DECEIT &JEW-HATE THREATENS ISRAEL'S SURVIVAL
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (09.29.06)
Extreme HATE: Responsibility for compliance of the resolution is given to UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, infamous for his fanatical hatred of Israel. Extreme DISHONESTY: The UN determined in 2,000 that Israel had withdrawn to the international border. The resolution places Shaba Farms - legally belonging to Israel - up for negotiation. The laws of nations forbids land taken through aggression. The US EU UN unlawfully seek to reward Lebanon-Hizbullah-Syria-Iran for their war against Israel. Extreme RACISM: The damage and destruction to Israel is enormous. Israel's economy is devastated. Destruction in some Israeli towns is far worse than experienced by most people in the Lebanese cities of Beirut and Sidon. Photo Fraud in Lebanon Aish.com's new movie:http://www.aish.com/movies/JP/PhotoFraud.asp Profound Jew-hate and injustice is revealed in the resolution which asks for financial and humanitarian assistance for Lebanon the aggressor - but no assistance whatsoever for Israel the victim. Extreme DECEIT: Equivalency is made between Iran's Hizbullah terrorist army' vicious unprovoked acts of war against Israel - over 4,000 rockets fired at Israel - and Israel's self-defense operations which the resolution refers to as "offensive" military operations. Hizbullah's rockets are packed with thousands of metal ball bearings to maximize the suffering of Israeli victims - the same murderous Islamist hate of 9/11 and 7/7 - an inhuman hate for non-Muslim infidels that engulfs our world in endless barbaric attacks in the Islamist war against innocents. Images show Hizbullah using high-density residential areas to launch rockets: http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,,19955774-5007220,00.html Extreme DECEIT: The Lebanese government and Iran's terrorist army Hizbullah are one and the same. The US, EU, UN are fully aware that Hizbullah are part of Lebanon's government and that the Lebanon government actively colluded with Hizbullah in acts of war against Israel. Lebanese army radars were used to lock in Israeli targets for Hizbullah missile crews. YNETNEWS (08.12.06, 16:52) Siniora accepts deal, praises Hizbullah ...steadfastness of resistance fighters in field was very important,' http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3290107,00.html Extreme DECEIT: In calling for disarmament of Hizbullah, the US EU UN are fully aware Iran's guerrilla army Hizbullah will NEVER disarm and cognizant they are giving massive victory to Iran in Iran's war against Israel and the free world. In the cruel, Islamist war against humanity, the U.S, EU, UN are guilty of advancing global jihad's unopposed march to world conquest.

Ryan ,   Calgary, Canada   (09.29.06)
Sounds like wishful thinking, I don't think the EU has much control over Israel, they can export to other regions, embargos would be removed forcibly, nothing would be seezed as long as jewish money is running through your countries, which it is, and not without US approval. Your also assuming that you can maintain unity between all member countries. Seems to me that I don't think it would go ove well with certain countries. The US and Canada would help remove the embargo, and protect Israel, and I can't see some of those countries fighting us to defend France. The EU wouldn't win against North America and Israel. You wouldn't even have full support, I would be that the UK would join us as well as some other countries, so your talking out your ass pretty much. And thanks for the laugh about the french military reprisals,

51. protecting both sides from each other
Joshua ,   USA   (09.29.06)
The UNIFiL have to gain the trust of the locals and Hizballah if they want to succeed in "protecting both sides from each other" These are the realities on thr ground.

Are you saying this is the end for Israel forced entry into Lebanon? Forever?
53. #36 Joe Simon
SAM ,   USA   (09.29.06)
I really believe that Hezbollah will never repeat the same mistake again, unless of course Israel tricked them into it. Again.
54. You wanted the UNIFL to protect you!!!
Noora ,   Bahrain   (09.29.06)
They are doing that very well..

To build tanks, you need experience in armored warfare. So what are the froggy tanks worth? Screw the eurabian union,we would be better off trading more with china and india. We will not hurt them as no one has a bullet or missile that can catch a frog running from battle.
57. To #49
Hassan ,   Geneve   (09.29.06)
The EU represents by far the biggest export market for Israel, they close their borders to israeli goods or put heavy taxes and the israeli economy falls to pieces a week later. As for jewish money, I think you're dreaming a little bit too much, jewish money isn't much compared to non-jewish money, especially when you count arab oil-rich countries... The US and Canda can't do shit against the embargo, the EU already has no issue putting heavy retaliatory fines against the US when it violates WTO rules, it's economical weight is now on par with the US. Canada, well Canada won't do anything, mostly because it does not have any influence at all. The UK would definitely choose Europe over Israel given that the population is vastly anti-israeli and the UK is part of the EU and NATO(hence, they're required to help a fellow NATO member...)
58. Unifil?
007 ,   La Spezia Italy   (09.29.06)
You must blame you IDF Chief halutz criminal of war ,he had lost this war and unifil is there to protect hez.In Italy we have a communist government and our (not mine) FM is a good friend of nasrallah,so rules of engagement are to 'blind eyes' every time they see a rocket or a gun or a machine-pistole of hez ,and pull away IDF from lebanon.Don't shot to Italian soldiers, they MUST obey,.Next time you welcome pm prodi you MUST BEAT HIM,the lier.Ciao.
59. Frog surrender?
Frog ,   Frogland   (09.30.06)
I'm a bit amused by your comments: french are for you some kind of perpetual cowards.... In fact, all the problems are coming from the surrender of israelis to hizbolla and hamas 'fighters': french troops did only surrender massively once in history and it was not against rookies but against the best army of the world at that perod: the german one... So I'm not sure that Israel is ready to stand any fight against the frogs...
60. #59-Didn't french lose in Vietnam too?
Robert ,   USA   (10.01.06)
And what about Euro Disney? Not many French cars in USA either. Napolean retreated from Russia, forgot to bring a sweater. Napolean's Navy defeated by ... Nelson? I like frency people in general, but France doesn't seem to stand for much these days. UN Oil for food scandal...
