When I was at university, I had several professors from different countries. One Nigerian professor's accent was so bad. All I ever understood him say were half the names at roll call! I could not understand a single word of his lecture. I dropped his class as quickly as possible!! Whew! I had to send my post regarding Lebanon many times too until it was eventually published.. donno why.. I told you before, I'm not THAT ignorant on Judaism and Christianity.. I have read some.. I listened to a few parts from Deuteronomy.. it spoke of nothing BUT war.. I keepon hearing over and over again that the Qur'an speaks of war, and that Muslims kill women and children although our Prophet had told us never to kill innocent people.. and the Qur'an keeps on reminding us not to be transgressors and to accept peace with the enemy.. after this I see people calling Islam a terrorist religion.. and they happen to be people whom in their own book are given a green light to kill everything that comes in their way.. Richard, during the days of Jesus(PBUH) there was no Old Testament and New Testament.. those scriptures were accepted by Jesus(PBUH) and he was regarded as the God of the Old Testament.. (all this is according to Christian and Jewish beliefs) the fact that you don't like to think of them does not change anything.. they're still there whether you like them or not.. I don't like them either because they remind me of the harsh enemy we are facing.. in fact .. they scared me .. The verses you quote from Deuteronomy are for specific events. The tribes God commanded Israel to utterly destroy are now gone. The commandment for their destruction has been fullfilled, it does not pertain to the Arab people. God wanted Israel to remain pure and not to intergrate with these tribes. Otherwise, the fate of the whole world would have changed. You would not have a Qur'an to read now if this phase of history had changed. Arabs and Jews are brothers! They have the same father, Abraham. There is no commandment from God for Israel to destroy Ishmael, is there? No. Israel could not destroy Ishmael if it tried! I am not here to defend Israel. Hardly. I am still in shock about the Nov. 7th elections! Jews and Muslims joined forces to vote my party out of power! So, if the jewish lobby and the muslim lobby are united against my interests, why should I care who wins in the ME?? Here is one big reason. WW3. The next world war will go nuclear. Nope, I am the fourth of my father's five children. I am the first born of his second wife. What I have is from the sweat of my own brow! My family lost everything in the "oil bust" of the mid '80's. I brought the brother who was groomed to take control of Dad's business into a joint business venture of mine. We became partners. I was always the "idea" guy, he was always the task master pushing production. Then I couldn't stand him being such a control freak! I pulled out my assets and signed over the corp. to him. Started my own small roofing company and today, I am VERY HAPPY!! He now runs a multi-state construction company and makes tons of money. He willingly pays a price for his success. "How long is the Thanksgiving Holiday?" Hmmm... It depends on the individual. It could last half a day to a week. Traditionally, we Americans make it a four day weekend event! That leads in to the Christmas Holiday season!! In a way, I think you could compare it to Ramadan, in that we do other things while the holiday is ongoing. There are times for fasting and prayer, and then there are times for joyful celebration! And of course, we have to keep our jobs going, too. It is interesting you said you usually fall asleep during a game. (Have you watched American football before?) The game was a smashing success! Too much, though. Westerners think that Arabs and Muslims should sell out their culture and religion in order to become "peaceful" and this is a very big mistake.. in order to make people accept peace with the enemy you should convince them that you will not give them away or betray their beliefs.. I had given you my opinions on both.. but I wish to know your opinion Richard..

I fall asleep while watching a football game on TV LOL!! I have seen American football on movies not a real game.. when I said I don't have any thanks to give .. I meant that I don't have a Thanksgiving Day like you... of course there are millions of things in my life to thank God for.. there's nothing really peculiar about my family .. we are a family of six.. my Father, Mother and four girls.. I've got two sisters older than my self and a young sister.. so I'm #3.. my youngest sister is an 8 year old.. we see her as the life of our family.. God bless her.. we're a very normal, middle-class family.. I'm also happy with my life.. I'm glad I have good parents and a cosy home..I feel very fortunate although watching those who have lost loved ones in wars and are living an un-secure daily life always leaves me feeling guilty.. sometimes I wish I could share my life with them.. well... that's about it.. :) any more questions Richard?? hehehe.. we Muslims thank God a lot.. we actually do it many times in the same day.. and not only on one occassion.. we usually say "al hamdu lillah" ie. thanks to God.. we say this for nearly everything even when something bad happens we should thank God since we should have faith that this happened out of His wisdom.. even the first chapter in the Qur'an says this "Praise be to God" which is like thank you God in Arabic.. "035.034 And they will say: "Praise be to Allah, Who has removed from us (all) sorrow: for our Lord is indeed Oft-Forgiving Ready to appreciate (service): " one of God's names is Islam is a "Grateful" which means that He thanks us in return for doing something good.. "064.017 If ye loan to Allah, a beautiful loan, He will double it to your (credit), and He will grant you Forgiveness: for Allah is most Ready to appreciate (service), Most Forbearing,- " that's what I could think of for now.. I am also thankful for your friendship Richard.. I really value it:)
