31. parade?
chava , yerushalayim (10.26.06)
Many talkbacks have commented on the fact that there are people who are homosexual and who should have "rights." If there are, in fact, people who are sexually pulled to same sex relationships, does that mean they must act on their feelings? More to the point, does that mean they must parade down the street showing off these feelings? In Yerushalayim, ir haKodesh (the holy city)? (Yerushalayim isn't just any city.) In any case, nowhere does the Bible say a man can't *want* to lie with another man. It says that he shouldn't *do* it. There are many things people want that they don't act on. (And if they stumble, and act on something they feel they shouldn't, they work at not stumbling again. At the very least, they don't display their actions in an "in your face" manner.)
32. Hiloni and tolerant, but there are limits
Donna , Netanya, Israel (10.26.06)
I agree with 11. While I am a secular and open minded westerner, Jerusalem is NOT the place to do this. It is a slap in the face to 3 religions. It would be much more enjoyed in Tel Aviv than anywhere else. Personally, I find the gay parades gross. They do their upmost to turn it from something of pride to something I wouldn't want my kids to see. Too deviant. When do heteros do this kind of thing?
33. You are all stupid people here.
Voice of Reason , Israel (10.26.06)
Israel is called the HOLY LAND, not just Jerusalem. So what is the difference if they have their parade in Tel Aviv or Jerusalem. Gay people need to have these parades to express themselves, it's bigots like most of you here that have caused them to keep quiet about who they are for hundreds of years. Let them have their parade, noone is saying you have to go.
34. on Friday Sodom marches and THEN..
Jew , Jerusalem (10.26.06)
next day on Shabbat Va'yera we read about Sodoms destruction. The disengagement started on 9. Av. Anti-Torah Erev Rav alwys finds its apropriate dates. HaShem ha severything under control.
35. Disgraceful Feigele Parade
Reuven Brauner , Raanana, Israel (10.26.06)
I encourage everyone who can to do whatever he or she can to stop this disgraceful feigele parade. Decent, moral people of all persuasions must stand up now and declare their opposition to this embarrassment of the holy Jewish people in our holy city of Jerusalem. Feigeleism is abhorrent and must be rooted out. It stands in direct opposition to the pure, holy and sacred Jewish people and Jewish mission. G-d, Himself, finds feigeleism absolutely unacceptable.
36. #26 Vitaly: Sodomy a requirement for democracy?
Moshe , Jersalem (10.26.06)
You seem to be saying that democracy doesn't exist without sodomy, and that sodomy is a requirement for a country to be considered democratic. Your message also says that American Jews and Gentiles are donating money and supporting Israel on the condition that we are a sodomite nation. That would make us all sodomite prostitutes as you are paying us only if we be sodomites. You are truly a sick sucker.
37. gay
darryl , israel (10.26.06)
david and johnthan were gay whats all this hypocracy about
38. #37 is Wrong
Reuven Brauner , Raanana, Israel (10.26.06)
You are repeating a lie. There is no evidence to your accusation. Our texts and tradition have no reference to such a vile idea about these great men. They loved each other because they shared the same goals in life and were like brothers. They were G-d-fearing and fully observant of G-d's commands. To make their admiration and bond for each other into something sexual is obscence.
39. Even staright sexual promiscuity is not for the streets!
mike , Israel (10.26.06)
why do the gays feelthe need to demonstrate their perverted way of life and push it into our faces?let them take their gay baths etc and go do it far from us in a place where it is acceptable.san francisco , Paris, England where a large number of Gvt. officials and royals are gay. take it there where it will be appreciated . We are not interested in seeing your queer way of life, nor would we be interested in seeing straight promiscuity in our streets. Why do you people feel the need to publicly display your sexuality?
40. Don't forget
Dr D , Jerusalem (10.26.06)
It is NOT their fault. Gays are born from humans. It is our duty to respect them as such and don't forget the distress of they parents. Dressing up like 13 century polish princes and living in to 2000 BC rules of life is not enough to judge and condemn others as your secular neighbors don't condemn you, the Haredim of our Jerusalem
41. #33 And Others
H , Jerusalem (10.26.06)
The problem with the immoral parade is not only because of its immodesty. Even if there's no person watching this sick thing, it should still not be held in Israel, let alone Jerusalem. Only naiive or "stupid" people (as you put it) do not understand the problem with this parade. It's time for you and others to discuss this issue with Orthodox Rabbis who will open your brains and understanding G-d's world.
42. To #33 - Voice of reason (not so much)
Yael , Israel HOLY LAND (10.26.06)
You are right,,,,this is the HOLY LAND and there is NOTHING holy about being gay. Second of all, gay or straight, why a parade. Are we so desensitized to sexuality these days that we must parade it around. what in essence is this parade saying, "look at me, look at me, i am wearing pink shorts and kissing another man". So what? you need a parade for this? Ok, then if gays needs a parade to flaunt their sexual desires, then what's next? All Sheep lovers....come on out and parade with your flock??? There is nothing wring with being gay but there is something very wrong with being promiscuous and slutty. A little bit of modesty never hurt anyone!
43. 42
Voice of Reason , Israel (10.26.06)
why do you care so much about what other people do? What's your problem? Noone is telling you you have to go and watch. I know there's a football match on Saturday evening, I dislike football so I won't be going. Why do you want to control everything and everyone around you? That is how gay people behave, that is how god made them, you need to accept it - you also need to accept that this is 2006 and not 100BC. If an Arab can demonstrate on the streets of tel-aviv, then I'm damn sure a colourful gay parade should also be allowed. You breed hate, you need to stop.
44. Cut these Haredis off
True Democratic , Israel (10.26.06)
from anything a homosexual has ever contributed to economy or medicine - they will very quickly die of starvation and illness, but hey! at least they have their own "pride."
45. yeah sure. wait until you get to hell. HEEHEEHEE
#37is a castrati (10.26.06)
talk bigshots while your relatively safe in your defecating shells. but when the good angel cuts your miserable spirit from your maggot encrusted shell and hands it off to the furious angels created from your foolish disgusting thoughts, speech and actions you won't know what smug means. and you will be tortured for many thousands of years
46. Gays should dress like Haredim
Uzi (10.26.06)
It will take out the sting of the Haredim's assualt, they will make an interesting point and we'll all have great fun.
47. Parade?
Deborah , Midwest, USA (10.26.06)
Isaiah 3:9 -- "The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves." Hurrican Katrina hit New Orleans the day before they were scheduled to have the "Summer Decadence" gay celebration. Just coincidence? I think not. Perhaps we should have a "Liar Parade", an "Adulterer Parade", or, maybe, a "Murderer Parade" and display all of the sins of mankind. Thank goodness there are those who will stand up for what is right and good in the face of mankind's descent into animal chaos.
48. #27 - Civil Rights?
Deborah , Midwest, USA (10.26.06)
In our country, just like yours, the terrorists and bullies seem to be the gay rights activists who insist upon displaying their perversions to the detriment of our impressionable children and grandchildren. Where are the rights of parents to shield their progeny from such filth? Where are my rights to object to this profanation without being labeled a "hate criminal"? I don't hate gays, I just don't think they should display their slime in public. Let them sin in private.
49. THID WILL BRING THE ANGER OF GOD OVER YOU !!
fadi , lebanon (10.26.06)
SHAME TO ALLOW SUCH PARADES IN THE HOLY LANDS !!!! THIS IS A SIGN FOR THE FALL DOWN IF ISREAL
50. #3 and #10 - YOU ARE SO RIGHT!
Adam Shapiro , Cape Town, SA (10.26.06)
I think it's fantastic that #3 and #10 (who apparently, are not Jewish) can see this point that they make so clearly!!!!!!! When will the Jews learn?
51. Parade
Menachem , Sweden (10.26.06)
This is a great opportunity for some of the Haredim to come out from the closet and hold hands with their fellow Israeli's and sing YMCA, In the Navy and Dancing Queen. Where is Fadi?
52. #16 - Israel learn from Canada?
Deborah , Midwest, USA (10.26.06)
I'm quite sure that Yahweh, for whom time limits do not exist and who created time (days and seasons) for mankind, is not impressed with your "demands of the modernized world". I doubt He cares about your concept of "human rights and freedoms". And I think He must laugh at your telling Israel about "personal choice". Do you realize just how ridiculous you sound in your "political correctness"?
53. To No. 48, Deborah
NYC Girl (10.26.06)
I guess you don't live close enough to lower Manhattan, but I do and those terrorist bastards who rammed two passenger planes into the World Trade Center weren't gay. They were religious Muslims and, as such, were no doubt quite homophobic. Believe me, I'll take a homosexual over a Muslim fanatic any day. And a comparison of gay right activists to terrorists is almost as offensive as the comparison, made by some of the racists who post on this site, of the IDF to Nazis. Trust me, if you're a heterosexual you're in no danger of being converted by anybody who's gay, and neither are your children. In fact, I'd be more concerned that impressionable kids are listening to some forms of rap music and watching MTV, which exposes them to constant images of the degradation of women. And, as you may or may not know, white suburban kids are equally as likely to listen to rap music and watch the videos as kids who live in the so-called "bad neighborhoods."
54. Ask God to intervene
Steven Greco , USA (10.26.06)
During the protest, people should call out to God in a loud voice. As one voice. As one people. He will listen.
55. Gays & Parading
Glenn A. Rinck, Jr. , Grand Ridge (USA) (10.26.06)
These people have the same right to march, as did the like-minded ones of Sodom and Gommorah. The end result will be the same for them.
56. Gay parade...
Kevin , USA (10.26.06)
"If a man lies with a man, as with a woman, it is an abomination". It is indeed sad when God's chosen people are forced to witness the promotion of a blatant transgression of the Law. The Law speaks clearly on this, to the Jews, the Muslims, and the Christians.
57. #21 - 2 of your statements were true
Mark Ingersoll , Lansdale, Pa, USA (10.26.06)
In the first set of statements - #2 and #3 are correct. The rest of your entire tirade is wrong, very commonly held mistaken beliefs, but still wrong. Especially the bottom section addressed to everyone. (#1 - where did you ever come up with that idea???) #2 - I used to believe this one, in fact, but it isn't true....#3 an experience--no, a thought? yes, if it were a thought - there would probably be a lot of purple faces...#4 I also used to agree with - but it IS a choice to act on those attractions, isn't it? (not to have the attractions, but to act on them) You know - back to that #1 of the bottom section - How could you possibly think you could speak for God? He has made His feelings on the subject quite well known and they are diametrically opposed to yours.
58. NYC Girl -re: #53
Mark Ingersoll , Lansdale,Pa,USA (10.26.06)
I'm sorry you got an up close and personal seat for the horrible acts of September 11th 2001, I can't imagine what it must have been like to be there for that...it was horrible just watching it on tv....that said, I would like to point out that the word terrorist can be used for people who commit other forms of terrorism, The muslims you think of when you hear the word terrorist are not the only terrorists in the world (and not all muslims are terrorists) these are not synonamous words! You obviously don't have children of your own, or you would realize that children CAN be effected by what they see - but wait then in the very next sentence you acknowledge that they can be influenced by rap music and videos (which you are quite right about)...why don't you see that seeing sin in person can cause them to be influenced too?
59. #53 - Your labels miss the mark
Deborah , Midwest, USA (10.26.06)
Let's see, according to your rational, since I believe in the scriptures, and God's Law, that makes me a Moslem. Just because my spiritual side sees the Sodomites as an abomination and my secular side sees them as just plain perverted, that makes me want to ram airplanes into buildings. Am I correct in your psychological dissection? Poor child. I, too, am concerned with rap music, MTV, and the like. But I also don't want my progeny indoctrinated into the idea that homosexuality is OK. And, I am not from surburbia, city girl. As an Army brat, I've lived in several foreign countries, as well as American cities, small towns, and army posts. New York did not impress me at all. I now reside on a ranch in the country.
60. #59 Your comment is very confusing
Linda Rivera , New York (10.26.06)
Was your comment meant for someone else??? You mention believing in G-D's Law would make you a Moslem? G-D's eternal, unchangeable Law given to Moses in the BIBLE: "YOU SHALL NOT MURDER
