31. Re :Borat
Rod ,   Fargo N.Dakota   (11.14.06)
The funniest part of the article is the writer does'nt acknowledge that he's the joke.
32. BS Michael
Simon G ,   Ra'anana   (11.14.06)
I hope BS Michael didn't get paid for this excuse for an article (possibly the worst I have ever seen on this website) He criticises Israel's treatment of gays and women. Israel treats women and gays more fairly than every single Arab country. This is an undeniable fact. Can you imagine gays being allowed to march through Mecca? They would be stoned one by one by the baying masses. As for women's rights, there is no doubt whatsoever that women in Israel enjoy more rights than anywhere else in the Middle East. Women in Saudi Arabia are forbidden by state law to drive a car, are unable to walk unaccompanied in the street (an arrestable offence) and have to get written permission to leave Saudi Arabia from their husband or father. This is all documented by Amnesty International. There are a few idiots that shout "Death to Arabs" whereas there are millions of Arabs who march through Arab capitals proclaiming "Death to Jews" in state-sponsored rallies. Israel is not perfect but is a shining beacon of light to Arab countries. And the "author" of this article is extremely malicious, ill informed and clearly lacks a sense of humour. Borat is destined to become the biggest grossing comedy ever. Yegshemesh!
33. Is No. 27 for real?
Bob   (11.14.06)
34. #27 - Tarob Nazarbayev
Michael ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.14.06)
Dear Tarob, What exactly do you mean "why is it that Jews have to invent untruths about my country?" The maker of the Borat movie is a British comedian named Sacha Baron Cohen. Israel and the Jewish public did not vote on whether or not he should make his movie. (In free countries, people can make movies without getting permission from anybody else.) Why do you think "Jews" are responsible for the work of a British comedian who happens to be Jewish? Do you think he's an elected representative of the Jewish people? I wonder if "Tarob" is really Borat pretending to be a racist Kazaki???
35. Dear comrade Nazarbayev (#27)
David ,   Israel   (11.14.06)
It pleases me to HEAR that your country does not have a "Deaf penalty". Truly it is a sign of progress when your country no longer punishes people who are deaf. Unfortunately you seem to be validating what Borat says when you you ask why "Jews" are "invent untruths about my country". Maybe you should learn not to stereotype people just because 1 man decided to make a movie about your country?
36. Borat critique
Daniel Botnick ,   New York USA   (11.14.06)
This article contains incitement, slander, racist slurs that violate your terms of use. Why was it published?
37. The only one not laughing
Lee Nelson ,   Tampa, FL   (11.14.06)
I used to make fun of kids like you in school. The funniest thing just happened -- or joke was told -- and they couldn't laugh and enjoy themselves because they were trying to understand the joke. I feel so sorry for the author of this article -- what a pointless and dull life you lead.
38. what a non-sense
Gaby ,   Boston, usa   (11.14.06)
B Michael, why would you not move to free kazakhstan or even freeer Saudi Arabia from nasty and oppressive Israel. But in one respect I agree with you, had he created an bad image of Israel, he'd probably be much less attacked and would get some extra Eurabian money and some extra Eurabian promotion. You should know it very well, since you are, probably, getting both.
39. ridiculous lies...
Ronit ,   Israel   (11.14.06)
Putting this as one of the featured articles in ynet is a disgrace. Why is it that it is Israelis who do the best job in making Israel look bad to the rest of the world? (Thanks a bunch to Ynet for assisting in this and helping spread hatred towards Israel and Jews worldwide!!!) Palestinians and Arabs don't even have to put minimal effort in their anti-Israel and ani-Semitic propaganda; Jews like B.Michael do it for them and save them the time! Seriously speaking though, the Israel that B.Michael talks about is NOT the Israel I live in. This article is beyond ridiculous.
40. It's funny how much we are alike
mmhurst ,   Los Angeles, US & A   (11.14.06)
I’m am an American, liberal, gay and Catholic. Have fun with that and please feel free to criticize any of those groups with I might fall into. I’m a big boy and strangely I might just agree with you sometimes (don’t get me started on that Pope)! This commentary could have just as easily been a liberal American commenting on problems in the US. The liberals would say we are guilty of such things and isn't that the point of Borat (the movie)? Sacha Baron Cohen isn't criticizing Kazakhstan; he is criticizing the USA. The movie exposes the negative points of our collective community here. Such a critique of the US would inflame the conservatives who would immediately start the "You hate America!" and "You are anti-American!" Go back to (fill in the blank) if you hate it here. (fill in the blank) is so much worse than the US, how dare you say that about your own country. So very typical, predictable and frankly -- BORING! My repsonse to that is the same response to this commentary; sometimes we point out the flaws not because we hate, but because we care. We want (fill in the blank) to be a better place and know that it can be. Sometimes the only way we can accomplish that is the shed the light on the hatred, bigotry and narrow-minded thinking lurking in the dark. When one faults (fill in the blank) it doesn't mean that those faults apply to all of us, but it should at least give us something to think about.
41. Borat "review"
Esther ,   Montville, USA   (11.14.06)
Why does Ynet even allow such garbage on their website. I'm returning to JPost and Arutzsheva to avoid this kind of junk
42. Borat's Kazakhstan

44. Reading the feedback
Marcus   (11.14.06)
It's become obvious to me that people are too concerned that they are not giving back as much negativity and repression as they are getting. The author made a very fair case - exagerating a little here and there, but not much - as to why the movie could have had Borat as an Israeli. Like the movie Borat itself, which presented people with a negative character and the true negative traits of the americans portrayed, this article sought to show how Israel itself contains and exemplifies many of the negative traits that we ourselves so despise. By seeing them in ourselves, we can change them. This was the goal of the movie and of this article. Instead, we have people responding back to this article that "the arabs act like this" and "this group does this" and "that group does that". Instead of recognizing these failings in ourselves, and doing our best to correct them and improve ourselves, people come back saying that we're just as bad as someone else or not quite as bad as someone else. How is this a productive comparison, and this should be especially asked of the religious, not because they are somehow truly different from the secular, but because they hold themselves to a higher standard. If god asks you to act in a productive or positive manner, do you say to god "the muslims are just as bad as we are" or "the christians are worse than we are"? Do you truly believe that god would let you slip by on that one? And this argument applies to the secular as well. Do you allow yourselves to act poorly, even with your self-actualized sense of morality that has no basis on deity worship or faith in religion, with the excuse that your naighbour is also behaving poorly. Does anyone not care for the sick person at their door simply because their neighbour also refuses to do so? We need to stop comparing ourselves to the bad behaviour and poor actions of others and start to compare ourselves to our own ideals, whether those be inspired by our faith in god or by our own sense of what is right. Failing our own ideals is far worse than eaking out a small lead over a failed neighbour.
45. borat
Jose buenaventura ,   bogotaa, colombia   (11.14.06)
I saw the movie. I do not believe all the people in Kazakhstan do or are what he says. But many of the people and customs can be found in any country in the world. I have traveled in the US, Europe and South America, and I have seen even worse people than he describes. He is a comedian, and the idea is to laugh. If you dont like comedy, dont go see him. This world is hell anyway, so lets laugh a little.
46. You're a jerk
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (11.14.06)
And a jerk with no sense of humour on top of it. It's a shame to see someone hate their own country. We Jews have always had a sense of humour & there is nothing wrong with making fun of ourselves or anyone else, like Borat with Kazakhstan. No one really thinks what he says is true about Kazakhstan although his anti-semitic jokes unfortunately ring true for all of Europe. But this jerk can't even laugh - all he can think of is hating his own country as if the faults he mentions don't exist in every country on Earth. He's as one-sided as the usual crowd of Israel-bashers except he should know better. And for sure, Borat should do some Iranian Ayatollah or a Hamas spokesman. If you can't laugh at your enemies, who can you laugh at?
47. who the hell made you a writer ?!!
Shoshi ,   Tel Aviv   (11.14.06)
48. Bravo!
Jenna Jameson ,   New York, NY   (11.14.06)
Wow, a differing POV on Ynet? And so brutally honest!
49. I see Hamas has gotten itself a Jewish spokesman
Rich Cohen ,   Israel   (11.14.06)
50. Re: Kazakhstan is here
aaron ,   ocean parkway, NY   (11.15.06)
It sounds like instead of criticizing Borat for making fun of an entire nation, you are making fun of an entire nation yourself. Does Borat represent the views of all of Israel? Do all jews deserve the criticism that belongs to one person? Borat reveals the true character not only of his interviewees, but of his critics as well. I don't like to see people making fun of Kazakhstan, but how does one rabbi from Monsey have the power to cause a person to despise the ways of an entire people?
51. "Borat" is one example of what makes
NTI ,   Red Chili   (11.15.06)
Jews extraordinary (talented). I can't say the same of you, Mike. Your writeup seems uninspiring (mediocre).
52. Have you seen the movie, B. Michael? This is comedy!
Ron ,   LA   (11.15.06)
Obviously the author need to develop a sense of humour and lighten up... And the most important thing...go see the movie for G-d sake! You will LOVE it B.Michael! Guaranteed!
53. 11# They might be rascist in your view.
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (11.15.06)
But the Arabs and Persians have the award hands down. They haven't met an infidel that they can't kill, or turn into a second class citizen, because they aren't Muslim. Why did Borat take on, the only country that likes the Jews? The United States? He should have shown the true intentions of the Arabs. Instead he sqaunders the chance, to make a buffoon out of Israels only friend, the United States. I'm suprised that the Europeans and Russians aren't heralding Kazakhstan for taking on the American Invaders through Borat. Of course Sacha Cohen does come from a European point of view. The USA is evil don't you know?

58. What's your problem author?
Ram ,   London   (11.15.06)
Get a life or find yourself the idealistic Utopia of your fantasy and "move to it"!
59. This author is a self hating Jew :-(
Louise ,   Jerusalem   (11.15.06)
He apparently doesn't know any Torah, the most beautiful, loving and just book in the world, that is a gift to mankind and of course the Holy Nation of Jews. This author apparenly doesn't know his history, or why these laws exist. Look, Michael, I don't want to attack you here, but really, before going public on how rotten your religion and G-d's laws He gave are, why not go and investigate it first? Do some research, and stop degrading yourself and our people. If you want to laugh at someone and make jabs, how about the terrorist entity in the arab world, and their values system and the cutting off of heads, etc. Stop being a self hating Jew, and see what a blessing Israel is in this world, and region, and how many arabs are vying to get israeli citizenship and exscape their own evil entities.
60. Not Horse Urine! It is Horse Milk fermented:Kimiz
Tayfun_Torunoglu ,   Istanbul   (11.15.06)
