31. Israel should make public her Nukes
Sam Weinstein ,   USA   (11.30.06)
This is what is needed to protect Israel from being sold down the river. some sort of deterence. If Israel does not have a deterence then the world the US and the EU will walk over is. When will we fight back for once. When will we say no?
32. Maybe they haven't noticed...
Neil Kuchinsky ,   Colonial Heights US   (11.30.06)
just how well withdrawal from Gaza and Lebanon has worked in the "Peace" process. More likely, they don't care, as long as the US has a five-minute, face saving interregnum for withdrawal, after which the usual attacks on Israel will resume. When you see how Muslim treats Muslim in Iraq, why is there any reason to believe they will treat the Jews with respect? GET REAL!
33. AXIS OF COWARDS (DIPLOMATIC BUFFOONS)
p HENRY ,   longmont U S A   (11.30.06)
BAKER,HAMILITON,(LEAVE ARE MEN BEHINDKISSENGER)AND NOW QUISLING POWELL IS STARTING TO MOUTH OFF.THESE CRYPTO CRONKITES ARE CHORUS BOYS OF THE DIPLOMACY OF NATIONAL SURRENDER TO ISLAMICFASCIST.A GAGGLE OF PERFIDIOUS "HAS BEENS" LOOKING FOR SOME SELF-AGGRANDIZING.
34. Give up security in Israel so Iraqis can have peace
Jenny   (11.30.06)
I don't think so. If that idiot thinks we are going to sacrifice Israel on an alter and give Iraq to the jihadis he has another thing coming. Well one never knows with a loser like Olmert in charge.
35. Baker Cooks Israeli Stew
Jeff ,   Cherry Hill, NJ USA   (11.30.06)
He is convincing Bush to deal Israel to the Arabs. Iraq Survey Group = Arab Appeasment Group. Jackbooted dominatrix Condi Rice does Baker's bidding, see Rafah, Hamas election, Lebanon Ceasefire.
36. Consessions in the Golan
Albert ,   NY   (11.30.06)
Mr. Baker, take this: 1. Take this new Iraq Study Group and shove it, please. 2. How could you ask Israel to return the Golan to a regime that is helping in killing thousands and thousands of innocent people in Iraq, and assassinating freedom loving leaders in Lebanon? Are you nuts? I think yes. 3. If and when Israel returns the Golan, it should be to a freely elected government in a New Syria, after this regime falls. (hopefully soon when the international tribunal convicts the criminal assad and his goons of killing all the Lebanese leaders from Kamal to Pierre. Rest in peace beloved martyrs of Democracy. The end of the assad family is near.
37. CONCESSION NO SOLUTION
John Haley ,   st.louis, mo   (11.30.06)
Don't dare make 1, not 1concession, to land that belongs to Israel!!!!! 1948 established your right to the land...don't give one inch to any Arab country.
38. Media Critic #18, #19 Read more books
Brod ,   USA   (11.30.06)
Your comments show that you know nothing about the Middle East conflict. I would urge you to read lots of books on History and Current Affairs pertaining to the Middle East conflict, Islamist-Jihadist Terrorism and Islamist-Jihadism before you could intelligently discuss this subject. The following books are a MUST READ: "Religion of Peace? Islam's War Against The West" by Gregory M. Davis. "Hatred's Kingdom How Saudi Arabia Supports the New Global Terrorism" by Dore Gold. "Why I Left Jihad" by Walid Shoebat. "Islam Unveiled" by Robert Spencer. "The Sword of the Prophet" by Serge Trifkovic. "Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis" by Bat Ye'or. 39. You know Olmert's answer already!
marya ,   sacramento,USA   (11.30.06)
He will fall to his knees and say yes, yes, yes to "painful concessions!" Can't he see the strategic importance of the Golan? This was unbalanced from the begining . Who in their right mind would allow two arabists to mull over the fate of Israel? What great options they 've given Israel - either poison or a sh*t sandwhich!
40. media critic on golden age of spain
leib ben yisrael ,   madison wisconsin   (11.30.06)
he confuses the golden age under Islamic rulers in the age prior to Maimonides with the subsequent rulers the Almohades who were an al qeda type tribe requiring Jews not just to be dhimmis but to convert or die. Maimonides' family fled to North Africa and other Jews fled to northern Christian Spain which was more tolerant until the pogroms of 1391 and the inquisition. The current group that media critic wants to appease is like the Almohades not the rulers in the time of ibn Shaprut .
41. Of course, the Jews lose in the end....
Mush DeLeon ,   Brooklyn, New York   (11.30.06)
Iraq gets completely trashed, and Jerusalem needs to make concessions? We're only pawns in this game, always played like bitches.
42. Baker-Hamilton committee
Johnson ,   USA   (11.30.06)
Not one single military person on committee, just a bunch of stuffed shirts, and hollow men who will sell out our troops, and condemn Iraq to the tyrants.
43. Recall HaShim's plan for Gideon and the 300
(11.30.06)
Remember how G-d confused the enemy into killing each other? Moslims killing moslims, maybe this a good idea? Why should Isreal stop this? Let them exhaust themselves upon each other!
44. no rules
megi ,   jlem   (11.30.06)
to 25. dream on dream on. no one will listen to becker. and if israel would have used all its power in lebanon with no rules like hizbolla did, wouldnt be anyone standing within 2 hours.
45. bush is not going to ever stop supporting israel
debra ,   usa   (11.30.06)
he knows the enemies are the islamic fascists-not the jews. just because some former cia agent is anti-semitic, bush will not be swayed against israel. ariel sharon said, "this bush administration is the best friend israel has ever had." sharon was right.
46. Baker Commission
Rachel ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (11.30.06)
Well, well, what can you expect from a commission headed by a notorious anti-Semite/anti-Israel figure like Jim Baker? And having anyone on a commission that directly benefits from its findings is a bigger joke. Both he and Ray Close should never have been on this commission in the first place, it taints their work seriously. Both get their paychecks from companies that do business in every country that sponsors state terrorism. Now it seems that the US is adopting the general anti-Israel bias found in the UN and EU by interfering with our foreign and domestic affairs. George Bush strikes again!
47. Raymond Close
Dumb Dhimmi ,   Los Angeles, USA   (11.30.06)
Things, frankly, are worse than you all might think. Hugh Fitzgerald posted the following tonight at http://www.jihadwatch.org (in comments section for post "Fitzgerald: A few questions for Ehud Olmert"): I wondered about Raymond Close. He should be the subject of Congressional and journalistic investigation. His entire career should be carefully scrutinized by investigators -- for it is scandalous, from the very moment that he "retired" early in 1977 from being C.I.A. station chief in Riyadh in order to go into business with two Saudis, to his subsequent years in up to his neck in the B.C.C.I. scandal, and then as an "international business consultant" (and just who was in charge of the Stimson Fellows Program at Yale who allowed someone like Raymond Close to be named a Fellow?) has for decades been giving lectures and publishing Op/Ed articles as a supposed "expert" on the Middle East, and presenting his "American-national-interest-only" views, his ostentatiously "disinterested" views (anyone investigate whose checks, directly or indirectly, Mr. Raymmond Close has been cashing, as he cashed in so well on every aspect of his Saudi connection?).
48. Giving up Golan will only encourage the Syrian and Hezbollah
Marwan Khoury ,   Canada via Lebanon   (11.30.06)
I certainly hope that the Bush administration rejects this insane suggestion. The plan is entirely nonsense. How can you engage Syrian despots who are murdering people in Lebanon, allow terrorists and weapons into Iraq, support Hamas and Islamic Jihad? How about the Iranians with their anti-Semtic, Hollocaust-denying Hitler-admiring monster and his cloak-clad clerics of apocalypse. Is that a good idea to appease these irrational creatures so that they, maybe help us in Iraq. Why would they help us at all? THEY HATE THE WEST and ISRAEL. No amount of cojouling or appeasement will help. Remember Neville Chamberlain and his policy of appeasing Hitler. How did that end?
49. Hamas and Hezbollah serve Syrian and Iranian interests.
Marwan ,   Montreal   (11.30.06)
Israel has done everything it can be reasonably expected to do to give PA a chance. Instead they got more of the same - talk of annihilation, kidnappings, terror etc. Hamas government has proven a disaster for the Palestinians and has lost most of their support. Gaza has collapsed into clan warfare and lawlessness. Even as corrupt as Fatah was, the Palestinians are realizing it was a better alternative to the agents of Iran and Syria, which is what Hamas is. Even now, Olmert has offered the best alternative to them, more than anyone could expect and they are still not happy. They want more, including non-starters like the right of return. Why? Because Hamas (or Hezbollah) do not want peace. Peace means responsibility to the people, good governance, building up relations. Once again, the Palestinians interests are not important to their "friends" Syria and Iran
50. If he give them the Golan, there will be a civil war
jay ,   Israel   (11.30.06)
51. Israel is expendable
Neil ,   Denver   (11.30.06)
Here we go again!! Why must Israel pay the price for Bush's own stupid failures. Bush is so desparate that he and his people really believe they can solve the Iraq problem by forcing Israel to give up everything in return for nothing (again). How naive is that???? This latest initiative is very dangerous for Israel. Israel pulls out of Gaza, but cannot respond to rocket attacks. Israel gives up control of the crossing between Gaza and Egypt and allow weapons to pass through unchecked. Now, Syria supports Hezbollah, but Israel must give back the Golan. Give the Palestinians the 'right of return'. What's a few million arabs in Israel???? And people think that Bush is a friend of Israel? How naive and myopic is that???? Remember that Mr. Baker is certainly no friend of Israel. Anything that comes out his mouth is certain to be bad news for Israel. Of course, Carter is no better. Over the past 50 years, no US administration has really been good for Israel. Every administration calls Israel an ally, but in reality, when push comes to shove, Israel is expendable.
52. Golan for peace? Close is too Close for comfort.
Milo Perez ,   Tijeras, USA   (11.30.06)
This is the most ridiculous suggestion to give dangerous Bush who cannot tie the Middle East together let alone his own shoes.
53. these failures are gone in 2 years...stall like shamir did
aaron ,   ra'anana   (11.30.06)
54. Geneva Convention: GOLAN Belongs to Syria!
Hani ,   Montreal, Canada   (11.30.06)
But who am I kidding? Do I expect an occupying terror state to comply with international conventions? Well anyway the next move which will surely be imposed by Bush & Co will call on "Israel" to relinquish all Arab territories occupied in 1967! Folks. this will include East Jersualem, the settlements, and territory to the west of the apartheid wall. Any questions? Don't be shy.
55. #52 Neil, wake up call honey
Hani   (11.30.06)
You claim that "Israel" has not responded to the Qassam rockets. What do you call the muder of 400 people since August 2006? Not to mention that this figure includes 300 civilians, women and children? What about the family killed on the beach while they were having a picnic? Why don't you just snap out of your illusions? Is your brain the size of a lizard's?
56. #52 Neil you are right on one thing...
Hani ,   Montreal, Canada   (11.30.06)
...Bush has never been a friend to the jews or "israel". He only wants a window out of his criminal, unjustified war in Iraq which claimed 750,000 lives and rising. Have you forgotten the July war? Bush used a whip on Olfart and the latter complied pretty well, until his ass got kicked so bad, defeated, and humiliated by a few thousand Hezbies. Bush would gladly repeat the blackmail until Israel attacks IRAN, leading to the destruction of the so-called Israel. Capicce?
57. #49 Shame
Hani ,   Montreal, Canada   (11.30.06)
You could not have said it better than your Zionist masters. Of course, what would you know about occupation, daily routine of going through 20 israeli check points to reach university? What would you know about losing dozens of family members to indiscriminate israeli shelling on Palestinian towns? What would you know about waking up every morning and having no motivation to breath, the economy non-existant due to constant israel blockade and subjugation since 1948/1967? I say enough writing nonsense and go have a coffee on Saint-Catherine and think about what I said. Your Arab name is questionable (although I doubt you consider yourself an Arab anyway - probably a Lebanese jew?)
58. BUSH BAKER RICE OLMERT WE WILL NOT FORGET
(11.30.06)
59. Cede California to Mexico - end
rh ,   Ashdod Israel   (11.30.06)
60. 51# everyone decided to become a pascifist
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (11.30.06)
and lose a war because they just hate those anti semetic christians from the Republican party. You sent Bush out of office as soon as you voted in the pascifist part of Democrats. The war is over.....it's withdrawal time Vietnam now. The Democrats are getting Murthas wish. The only President that might have fought Iran, or Korea has been voted out. And the people who believe the Democrats will do a damn thing for Israel, have been practicing a lot of wishful thinking. Once the house has burned to much....the fire crews stand back and watch the fire burn the structure down. Why waste the water. Everyone wanted to lose this war in the Mid East!!!!! They are going to let the fire burn Israel now. Israel is just a berm pushed up as a fire break. The Golan is expendable to stop the entire forest from burning. But the party that has wet its mouth pouring gasoline on the fire in Iraq. Can't stop the flames from burning their mothers and cousins house in Israel. Go figure!
