1. basic geography lesson for settlers
Michael ,   Haifa   (12.05.06)
...that they are temporarily living in a geographic area known as the West Bank (waiting here for the howls of rage of the fascist racist talkbackers)
2. Tamir is Quite Confused. She Doesn't Know
Esther ,   Ashdod   (12.05.06)
whether she is supposed to be the Education minister for Israel or for the Arabs. Can someone out there please enlighten her.
3. Peace Not
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (12.05.06)
When did this gang of EU-funded subversives get elected to office? Nothing proposed in their program to destroy Jewish communities in Israel will achieve "Peace," not "Now" or at any other time. Just remember, if [Chas Veshalom] "Peace Now" succeeds in giving away all of the 1967-gained land (including the Old City of Jerusalem and the Western Wall) and ethnically cleanses 300,000 Jews, it will not bring "Peace Now" because the Arabs will still demand the "Right of Return" for millions of Palestinians to overrun what of Israel there is left.
4. TRAITOR!

5. the land of israel vs. the state of israel....
yonatan ,   nyc   (12.05.06)
too bad yesha people. this is the state of israel and this was a very good move by mrs. tamir. it is important that everyone is aware of the reality of the current world. it doesn't matter that the PA exploits their people, and manipulated their own maps for political purposes. israel as an enlightened nation has the moral responsibility not to stoop to that level and it is important that israel remains a light unto the nations, and that means speaking the truth.
6. Basic Geography AND History Lesson For Michael
Yishai Kohen ,   YeShA, Israel   (12.05.06)
Jews ALWAYS lived in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza, which in ALL of history, was only illegally cut off from the rest of Israel for 19 years. It was NEVER a separate unit and were NEVER Judenrein besides those 19 years. We won't let fascist/revisionists like you or your Arab allies win. In fact, Jews were ethnically cleansed from Gaza SEVEN times in history- and returned six times so far. Expect #7 too, because it WILL happen.
7. If this government continues to rule
Ori ,   Kfar Saba   (12.05.06)

11. ???
M. Hartley ,   Atlanta, US   (12.05.06)
Why does Israel fight for land only to end up giving it back? If you keep returning it, you're implying that it wasn't yours to start with. It should be obvious by now that there is no such thing as peace for land, so why bother? Draw a line, let the world know that this is it, and don't budge one inch.
12.  will continue to educate about the whole Land of PALESTINE,
Tareq Ben Ziad ,   Palestine   (12.05.06)
As well as the Palestinians will say : 'We will continue to educate about the whole Land of PALESTINE"
13. ISLAM consider TEL AVIV & ALL ISRAEL OCCUPIED
Linda Rivera ,   New York   (12.05.06)
Israel and the Free World's people are betrayed by the U.S. EU UN goal of an Islamic terror state in Israel - a global state dedicated to Jewish annihilation and world conquest. In Islam, Israel and ALL countries that are not Muslim are considered Dar al-Harb - the House of War to be conquered for Islam. From Wikipedia encyclopedia: Dar al-Islam (Arabic: دار الإسلام literally house of submission) is a term used to refer to those lands under Muslim government(s). In the conservative tradition of Islam the world is divided into two components: dar al-Islam, the house of submission and dar al-Harb, the house of war.
14. To Michael # 1
Choni Davidowitz   (12.05.06)
You are calling God a facist racist lawbreaker. Read the Bible(num34;1-15). God is very specific in describing the map of the Land of the Jewish people. I can assure you there are no green lines, walls or fences. And certainly not one inch of Holy land for trespssing Ishmaelites. No person or public body any where will ever change the borders of The Jewish Land of Eretz Yisrael.
15. The Green Line is a neutral historic fact that had
Right winger ,   Haifa   (12.05.06)
meaning and relevance for 19 years. It could and should be taught as such, together with its true background, context and rationale. It must not, however, be taught as something sacred or invariable according to the gospel of UN, EU, Peace Now and other antisemites.
16. This Govt. Is the End of Israel
Jerry ,   NYC, USA   (12.05.06)
Only a suicidal nation would elect and KEEP a government like this. The choice is simple, keep this government, or survive. You can't have both.
17. HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN TO JEWISH KIDS: JUDEA IS NOT ISRAEL?!?!
AMI ,   ISRAEL   (12.05.06)
DERANGED LEFT WING SUICIDAL PSYCHOS MUST GO!
18. #1 fascist racist talkbackers

Talkback #1 a "textbook" example of fascism and racism, and an admission by projecting on to others.

20. Tareq- the whole land of 'Palestine' doesn't exist

dear michael, if every education minister ( and we have a very rapid rotation) will start amending history books in accordance with their ideological and political preferences, we'll have a total mess in the mind of youngsters. i live in tel-aviv, i'm secualr, and more importantly to tell you, non-jewish, im a christian, and as a christian I very well know that the 'so-called West Bank" IS Jewish land, the very name Judea and all the biblical texts that Christians cherish tell us about history of Jews in Hebron, Jericho, Bethlehem etc. After all Jesus was a Jew , born of Jewish parents, circumsized, lived in Bethlehem and was taken to the Temple in Jersualem ( not EAST JERSUALEM, OR OCCUPIED JERSUALEM) on his 7th day. If you don't know and don't accept your own Jewish legacy, which counts some severaL thousand years, don't expect that somebody will remember and cherish your name and your deeds and will take care of your grave when you're gone, if you don't give a damn about your ancestors. Joseph asked his sons to take his bones from Egypt and bury them in Israel, where is his tomb now? Descerated and sh*tted upon by your beloved peace partners? There's a Russian saying " Ivan ,who don't remember his grandparents", there should be an equal saying in Hebrew for the people like you. And to call your Jewish brethren and compatriots who live on the frontline and protect your life with their very presence in the West Bank is a travesty and total disgrace. Come on ,call me a fascist - my grandad was killed in WWII, fighting fascists, my uncle burned in his tank near Konigsburg, another uncle lost his leg, another uncle his chest full of medals, will you dare?Shut your big silly leftist mouth and go on a stroll in Haifa Bay while it's still Israeli, with a bunch like you there won't be an Eretz Israel soon. Jews, wake up from your suicidial slumber, stand up for your country, love her, protect her, fight for her, you don't have any other land of your own. Nobody will respect and treat you well, if you don't give a damn about your land, your history , your legacy, your pride. This is YOUR land, take it in your hands!
22. state and land
David ,   TA   (12.05.06)
Minister Tamir has called to insert the green line to demarcate the borders of the State of Israel. Many comments on this talkback are mixing this up with the land of Israel (or eretz yisrael). No doubt that Judea and Samaria are part of the land of Israel, but they are not (were never fully annexed) and will not be a part of the future state of Israel with final borders recognized internationally.

25. You can't be serious...
George W ,   Chicago IL   (12.05.06)
For YEARS those of us in the rest of the world have been forced to listen to self-righteous bloviating from Israelis--including many of the talkbackers who have posted on this board--about how Palestinian textbooks don't show Israel. "Palestinian kids are being brainwashed with hatred, learning from preschool that Israel doesn't exist! There is no reasoning with these people! etc. etc." Now we find out that the situation in Israel has been exactly the same?? And here are all these talkbackers, many of whom have probably grown up with these racist Israeli textbooks, who now deny that Palestinians even exist and freak out about putting the Green Line on a map? I thought I'd seen everything, but the hypocrisy on display here is truly breathtaking.
26. Mark NAKBEH DAY?!? Someone get her outta here ASAP!

27. To fish # 21 (and Michael # 1)
Choni Davidowitz   (12.05.06)
All I can say is WOW Y'sher Koach- Well said. You will certainly be a wonderful spokesman for the people of Israel. God bless you.
28. #25
yaakov ,   Jerusalem   (12.05.06)
UNFORTUNATELY AND TO OUR DISCREDIT,we religous nationalists left the hard and dangerous work of settling the medina in the hands of the hilonim who wanted to found a medina in which they could be goyim in a socalist paradise THESE hilonim such as yourself never saw ERETZ YISRAEL as we do, only a state in which the ishmaelites and themselves could live together, To their displeasure the Ishmaelites only wanted to murder these JEWS as aisav wanted to do to yaakov. So the ruling power elite defended themselves by establishing so called "settlements", ironically for the hilonim they and you are doing Hashems will. While we multiply by the hundreds and thousands, the hilonim continue to attempt to appease yishmael and aisav at the expense of their own brother. SO, #25 I do not expect you to understand the difference between ERETZ YISRAEL, and the medina that now exists, Ssmaria,Judea are our soul, they will exist in JEWISH HANDS long after the term hilonim is forgotten
29. REPLY TO #22 NOT #25

30. to 25 - apples and oranges
NL ,   Israel   (12.05.06)
What many Israelis (and non-Israelis and non-Jews) rage about in Palestinian,PA-sponsored text books is statements about how it's a holy duty to kill Jews (not Israelis, since they don't believe Israel has a right to exist), about how great it is to be a shahid, about how good violent resistance is, about how bad Jews (not Israelis) are, etc. The green line may not be demarcated in Israeli textbooks per se, but it is taught implicitly: Texts clearly state that post-67, Israel won Gaza and the West Bank and did not fully, formally annex them as part of Israel, but rather treated them uniquely. I think that's a clear nod to the fact that these territories are complicated areas of debate. This distinction is a far cry from Palestinian textbooks which show Tel Aviv as part of the nation of Palestine, with no disclaimer whatsoever. And, again, the small but important point: unlike the Pal textbooks, green line or no, there is NO call for violence against Palestinians or Arabs the way there is in Palestinian government-subsidized textbooks. If you read the article critically, you can see that many of the comments against the program are opposed to the way in which the green line is presented by Tamir. Even peace initiatives such as the road map concede that population centers around jersulem are definitely up for debate - which would mean that the green line is in no way a final border. (And let me not even get into the fact that, in order for the green line to be relevant, Hamas needs to recognize Israel's right to exist at all, which they currently don't). Thus, it makes sense that presenting the green line with a permanence that it currently does not possess may raise some objections. It's in no way like the debate raging around the Palestinian textbooks.
