62. Nk also protested v. Israel in UK and US
Nora   (12.14.06)
Whenever there's a big rally against Israel as were during the recent war with Hizbollah the sick Nk are there with their anti-Israel flags. They are highly photographed and draw massive media intention. They should be kicked out of Israel, out of Judaism. Everything should be done to stop funding these parasites. The ones who attended Iranian conference should be tried for treason. We cannot tolerate this kind of behaviour. If the outside world sees "Jews" denying the holocaust, things can only decline. This is an unspeakable outrage.
63. #59 -whether the custom is "Jewish" or not
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (12.14.06)
is totally irrelevant. The State of Israel, has chosen to adopt it, and most Israelis are cut to the quick to see another Jew ignoring it. Many offical publications have chosen to use illustrations of lets say, women in dresses and long sleeves, as opposed to women in slacks and short sleeves in order "not to hurt the feelings" of fundamentalist Jews. The leaflet I saw at Kupat Holim regarding dental health for kiddies, is illustrated with little girls in skirts, and boys in caps, for the same reason. So even is the custom is not "Jewish" it is part of the State of Israel and should be respected by all Jews.
64. Naturei Karta are the real peacefull jews, Kol hakavod

65. Standing on yom hashoah
tma   (12.14.06)
The haredim who do not stand during the sounding of the siren on yom hashoa are guilty of no disrespect. They are themselves survivors or children of survivors of the holocaust and suffered and are still in great pain from that awful period. Their rabbis instruct them not to stand during the sounding of the siren because it's not a Jewish custom. It's goyish. Really, when you think about it, how does standing still for one minute help the victims of the holocaust? As one talkbacker mentioned, today more and more haredim ARE standing still for the rabbis are now saying that in order to not anger the secular who do ont understand the haredim's reasons for doing things, and hereby avoiding to add to the secular's hate of the haredim, the haredim should stand as well do pacify the seculars. HOwever, the rabbis instructed their public to read/recide tehillim, or pray while standing still. This is much more useful, if you ask me, than simply standing still and thinking about the grocery list. People should ask haredim why they do or don't do certain things instead of demonizing them. Let's practice ahavat hinam.
66. #63
tma   (12.14.06)
I agree with what you're saying that the state of Israel has adopted standing still and we should all respect it. As I mentioned in a previous post, most haredim today are standing still as instructed by the rabbis to avoid hurting the secular who do not understand why the haredim don't stand still, making the haredim who don't stand guilty of hilul hashem. These haredim who stand receive tehillim or pray rather than simply standing still. Don't forget than a great many haredim come from Eastern Europe and Europe and suffered during the holocaust. SOme lost their entire families. Their pain is as real as the secular's. Have a good day.
67. Political correctness
Abdullah manquds ,   Morroco   (12.14.06)
1) Not all NK memebers engage in this particular activity, though they're non-zionists for sure. 2) Admittedlly, what the NK rabbis did was not politically correct. However, part of their speech at the conference was aimed at stating the fact that the holocaust did happen and should not be minimised. The other part was a critic agaisnt zionism and its use of the holocaust to justify its cause. 3) Furthermore, NK in genral are known to be good religious Jews who care for other Jews, deeply, as manifested by the charity involvement. 4) Also, Israelis do not pay taxes to support them, they are self-sufficient and by their charity involvement for Jews in Israel actually help Israelis, without getting anything in return. 5) Many of them have a long lineage of several centuries in Eres Yisra'el. Long before the first zionism conference. And so are "indeginous" Jews to this land. And no one has the right to remove them from the land their ancestors struggled to live in, without an army or state. 6) They continue in the tradition of their jewish ancestors who settled in the land of Yisra'el and no one has the right to demand that a Jew betray his ancestors. 7) The few NK members that engage in this activity, do make a valid point, even if not diplomatically. And as best as I can understand it, it is that the Jewish community needs to be more understanding of muslim and arab pain that has resulted from the middle-eastern conflict, before expecting the muslim world to be understanding of Jewish pain. The tragedy of the holocaust is not sufficient justification for muslim suffering in this conflict, since the Nazis were German and Europeans and not muslims. Germany and Europe killed between 3-6 million jews in the last 100 years alone, while in the last 600 years no such tragedy occured against Jews in the muslim world. While Europe has been rebuilt and retains its territorial integrity, the muslim world has been defeated and lost territory, with the help of Europe. In other words, Europe is paying the "price" of the holocaust on the backs of others. That is not payenment and it is not just. 8) In summary, the holocaust was unquestionably a tragedy but it is illogical to use it to justify the israeli conflict with the palistinian arabs. Secondly, muslims in general have no reason to feel sympathy for the Jewish people even in regard to the holocaust since it is used as justification for their humiliation. And muslims under these circumstances (given that they were not involved) have the right to question it. Europeans under the hand have no place questioning it, since it happened among them with their involvement and has cost them nothing. 9) Oddly, enough NK's activities has helped generate more sympathy among muslims for the JEwish people and greater awareness among muslims of the horror of the holocaust and about the goodness of the Jewish religion. 10) For sure it is not politically correct. And no one seeking political influence in the Jewish community should engage in such activities. But IMHO it is necessary to minimise the mis-information about and unjustified hatred of the JEwish peple that is now commonplace in the muslim world. I don't expect those NK members to seek any political positions or the like, in fact they might be persecuted. But G-d is the judge who knows those who stand for the sanctification of the Name.
68. Naturei Karta probably erev rav
tma   (12.14.06)
When the Israelites escaped from Egypt,, the "multitudes" accompanied them. These multitudes, who were not Israelites, blended with the Israelites and wandered in the desert with them, and are still with us until today. Who are the descendants of these erev rav today? There is speculation but most rabbis agree that it would include people who are totally against Israel and/or the Jews.
69. #67 explains it very well.
Daniel van Dalen ,   Jerusalem   (12.14.06)
#67, you're really a Moroccan (Muslim?) called Abdullah Manquds? If so, wow - you know what you're talking about. Send me an email if you want! I myself am an adherent of one of the Jerusalem-based chassidic movements which are the closest to NK. Note that NK are not chassidim, though they dress similarly. Regarding this conference, I support their going there. They went there to declare that YES, the Holocaust did happen and 6 million Jews were murdered, but NO, this does not give the Zionist state a legitimate reason to exist. I do sincerely believe that their participation in this conference will make some Arabs / Muslims realize the huge difference between Judaism and Zionism.
70. can Chief Rabbi kick them out of jewishness ?

Savlanut Giveret. We're getting there, as I said. It was much much worse years ago.' Always look on the bright side of life' dedum dedum etc. (Nice cheerful song)
72. #67 and 68
Mike ,   Miami   (12.14.06)
1) The whole raison detre of the conference was holocaust denial 2) I dont care "why" NK went, tahts the reason deniers will claim that they are there 3) Zionism does not use the tradgedy of the Shoa to justify the existence of the State of Israel. The internal logic of zionism like anyother national liberation movement joins the national rights of the Jewish people with thier organic and religious connection to the land. It is perverse to suggest that NK is justified to go to Teharan on the basis of denying the connection between Zionism and the Shoa 4) What arrogance have both NK and similar groups to claim that they have the monopoly on Halachic Judaism.
73. Neutrei Karta
Viv ,   TA, Israel   (12.14.06)
As a grandchild of holocause surveivours I cannot believe what I heared/read. These so called jews are even worse than the fanatic muslims and neo nazies.... because they go against their own people. They play right into the hands of those people who have sworn to rid the earth of us. If there is any way of "boycotting" them or making them "unjewish" I am all with it....
74. 71, 73
Dorothy Friend ,   Tel Aviv   (12.14.06)
On I do love that song, esp. the background for it in the Monty Python movie! Thanks for the smile! Sometimes I feel it's getting better, sometimes I feel it's getting worse, but that's another story. As a child of Holocaust survivors I can believe it, just because of the things some of my parents told me about the various behaviors of various Jews in various combinations during that dark time. I see leading my life as i do a boycott against them.
75. #74
Anne   (12.14.06)
If quoting that sweet song made you happy, the moral is, to try to stress what unites us and not what divides us. To find common ground, be it through humour, music or whatever, is the key. We notice it at Poliker( the best artist of all, heard nonstop on Yom Hasho'ah) concerts, the diversity of the audience is amazing to behold. We get strange looks too, in our late sixties, conversing English, kippa on the mister, but no headcovering on me the missus, behaving like groupies( me that is!).I learnt this attitude from two neighbours where we once lived. One kisooi rosh, one didn't even go near a Shul on Yom Kippur, but both families such good friends. I try to do this too, find something in common, to talk about, laugh about cry about, moan about, and presto! you're halfway there.
76. I thought not!
Talula ,   Israel   (12.14.06)
They do not stand still, they continue to talk and drive and show no respect for the Shoar. So what's the holier than thou article about? Funny, but the only people in ths country that show respect and behave appropriately, are the secular people.
77. Print details of their speech
Abdullah Manquds ,   Morocco   (12.14.06)
It might be helpful, if ynet would publish details of the speech of the NK Rabbis. At least to show that they most certainly did not deny the holocaust or its severity. Nor did they absolve those who are too blame for it.
78. #69
A mench ,   Medeenas Yisrooel   (12.14.06)
I ask. Were you at the Hague, supporting the palestinians, cuddling a palestinian child and both, all of you, in fact, wearing PLO scarves, at the same time as Israelis, whose children had been slaughtered by your friends/ thugs/ terrorists/ murderers/palestinians, were being interviewed by the World Press? I vomitted then, when our friends, who were there being interviewed, sent us the footage of this, and I vomit on you all now too.
79. Why the attention to NK when meretz is the same?
Arie ,   Afula   (12.14.06)
They are a group of maybe two to three dozen advocating our demise. We have more than that in meretz and other Israeli political parties advocating the same thing and no universal condemnation? Let's ccall a kapo a kapo. meretz and their ilk deserve the same condemnation and expulsion as do the NKs
80. Neturei Karta MECHALLEL SHABBOS!!
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (12.14.06)
They march at every anti-Israel demonstration, EVEN IF IT IS ON SHABBOS. How do they get to and from these demonstrations? It is damn freaking certain they don't walk.
81. Rabbis attending holocaust deniers conference
Leon ,   Canada   (12.14.06)
Rabbis attending holocaust deniers conference should not be allowed to return back into Israel. They have forfeited their right to live among civilized Jews by embracing the enemies of the State of Israel and bolstering the anti Jewish rhetoric of Iran that vows to destroy Israel and the Jewish nation.
82. daniel fon dalen
Another mensh ,   Zion   (12.14.06)
You haven't replied to #78 yet . You usually reply so quickly, fon dalen.. We presume that means you were there, in the Hague with your mates, cheering the PLOt errorists, dressed as PLO thugs, smiling wit PLO murderers, so may YOU PLO DEVILS rot in this world and the next.
83. #80
Israel ,   Zion Gates   (12.14.06)
As they are paid up members and active supporters of PLO, laws of Yiddishkeit will never ever apply to them. The laws of hell await them.
84. Israel, and its rabbis MUST act on the boycott!
Sandy ,   Long Island, NY, USA   (12.17.06)
The Rabbis who traveled to Iran and participated in the Holocaust conference, and their families in Israel, MUST not be allowed to return to Israel. They don't want to live in a place known as the State of Israel, and they shold be asked to leave immediately in disgrace. Perhaps Iran will take them in. Surely, they have received health benefits, and educational benfits for their children in Israel, and yet have not served in the IDF which they despise. An excommunication, a "HEREM" is what they need, as was given to Spinoza and Shabtai Tzvi, the "false messiah." Hasn't been done in a long time? It's time NOW - Rabbi Metzger, we - the 98% of Orthodox, Consevative and Reform Judaism, who all too often do not agree on so many issues, applaud you and give you strength in this endeavor. Do not forget this! The blood of those murdered in the Holocaust calls for this! Those still alive with numbers on their arms, are waiting for your action! The blood of the early Zionists and the Chalutzim are with you.
85. Neturei Karta
Lon ,   Brooklyn, NY   (12.18.06)
With so called Jews like these who needs enemies. The Arabs will not destroy us, but our brethren will
86. Neturei Karta - enemies of the state
Elise Sheppard ,   Houston, USA   (12.18.06)
Neturei Karta who attended the Holocaust denial conference should be put on trial as enemies of the state of Israel.
87. Karta: Intelligence Service
David ,   Paris   (12.19.06)
Don't blame them, Israël have the best Intelligence service with Natureï Karta members.
88. Things are not always what they seem
CC ,   USA   (12.21.06)
Research on these folks shows some interesting findings/coincidences: 1) Their origin/establishment of the group is in 1912 in the land of today's Israel. 2) The present group was founded in 1938 in Jerusalem! (of all places). 3) Their goal: to fight "Zionism" = "Neturei Karta oppose the so-called "State of Israel" not because it operates secularly, but because the entire concept of a sovereign Jewish state is contrary to Jewish Law." Are they really fighting Zionism? Are they manipulating the Law to suit their cause? Did they conveniently erase a few chapters from Bereshit… Where does it say that Jews cannot have a homeland? Abraham paid four hundred silver shekels for the parcel of land; Sarah paid for it with her life and willed it to her only son. (Gen.23)The Field of Machpelah was of incalculable importance in establishing the bond between the future generations and their homeland, as demonstrated by the repeated emphasis on the field, at Abraham's burial and again at Jacob's. 4) Take a look at the timeline of the Grand Mufti Haj Amin al-Husseini knowing that he was a “fanatical anti-Zionist zealot”. http://www.palestinefacts.org/pf_mandate_grand_mufti.php Then take a look at the timeline of the NK. Is there a parallel? Coincidence? Why does this “Sect” has the green color as its symbol? http://www.nkusa.org/AboutUs/index.cfm At what length would Islam go to discredit anything or anyone opposing its path of ultimate power? Historically Islam has a lot to fear from Judaism. Not because Judaism is in any way antagonistic to Islam, but rather that Islam justifies its existence because of the failure of the Jews -- in particular their failure militarily over Rome. A successful Jewish State, especially one successful militarily, is a theological threat to Moslems everywhere Islam justifies its existence through the failure of Judaism Israel is a Secular Democratic Nation. Its focus should remain to keep religion separated from politics/economics. Are you sure these folks are Jews?
