Israel cannot unilaterally act against iran and jeopardise american and western interests in the region. That would simply be the death of zionism. That is the reality. Iran is a potentiall "ally" and strategic partner of the west in the middle east. And the potentiall is huge for the west, if it can seal such a relationship. Cheap accss to vast amounts of energy and markets in a "potentially" stable middle-east and beyond is what iran offers the west at present. Israel must convince the west that it can deliver the same potential as iran offers, even after a world war with iran before it launches any such attack. That is: a stable middle-east with cheap access to energy and markets and global stability. And a quick economic recovery from the devastating world war. I don't think israel can guarantee this. In short, israel has two options: 1) Go it alone and commit suicide (heaven forbid), as the west will punish israel this time for jeopardising their interests. What China thinks the world should do about Iran?

China wants the whole situation to go away. They are buying Iranian oil, and wish the price to go down so they can sell goods, make business, and get richer. Same with the Russians, the instability of the situation is the main concern. The Europeans are more concerned, but not to the point of a military misadventure. The American public does not foresee a war with Iran, no matter how much the media or the Israeli lobby wants to push the issue (see pollingreport.com.) And probably the good general above is correct in assuming GWB does not have either the power or the will to attack Iran. It's really only a big issue in Israel, and even there it appears to be over inflated if you take into account that Iran DOESN'T have a bomb, maintains they don't want one, and the IAEA confirms this. It is the Zionist mentality to assume they are the chosen people, they are holy, everyone else is inferior, and only they know what's best.
