31. I smell a troll...
withheld ,   Copenhagen, Denmark   (03.23.07)
There is one person posing as other users, please don't feed the troll. What I really see as a negative portion in this poll, is the 17% of the secular people having their sons circumcised, because they would stand out in the school showers (or what ever their logic dictates). IMHO such reasoning is borderline child abuse. Circumcision has benefits, and it has also hazards. Using the correct procedures and experienced crew is alpha omega, thinking and reflecting on whether or not to have it done, is equally important. Not having your son circumcised, because he stands out in the showers, or vice versa, is not proactive nor is it responsible. This is a sensitive subject, so please don't flame each other.
32. #29 So you're also David in Jerusalem. Beautiful name, huh?

34. To Kyle #14 - Check your facts

No Jews in China? Wakee Wakee! "Synagogues are found in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong today, serving both international Jews and native Jews." Ref: Wikipedia. Please check you facts. There are Jews everywhere although some prefer to forget their heritage. There are others who have been persecuted by their own who chose to deny their Judaism. The argument about the Brit is futile. Jews have a Brit and that is that. The reason: as Teviah said in Fiddler - "TRADITION. It’s also healthier and cleaner and as we only have none "thingy" we should look after it. However, those that call it "mutilation" should know that should the uncircumcised child decide later in life to have a circumcision, he is going to have to undergo a very painful procedure. The Jew or Gentile thing doesn't come into it. In some religions it is done at twelve or thirteen. I feel that at 8 days old the little boychick will get over it quickly and what's done is done. Doctor or Mohel? I remember my late uncle, who was a surgeon and professor of anatomy who taught mohelim the procedure, telling me that statistically mohelim make fewer mistakes than doctors. This might still be the case today. Some while ago I attended at brit of a child who was born without a foreskin and a symbolic tiny cut was made so the traditional ceremony could continue. Who knows, people are being born today without an appendix so one day little boys might be spared the knife. The one thing that is certain is that the Moslems, who also practice circumcision (khitan) albeit at the age of 12 or even older, got the oil while we had to cut it off. Such is life.
35. #17 Edithann, you don't know what you are talking about
Sigfried S. Kuhn ,   Aberdeen   (03.25.07)
#17, Edithann's reply is typical of those people who give truth to the saying, "Shallow brooks are noisy". For her information, the American Academy of Pediatrics never even hinted that circumcision is harmful----either medically or psychologically. So Eithann, you are either woefully ignorant or a liar. Obviously Edithann is not aware of or chose to ignore the latest findings that a circumcised male is much less likely to get AIDS. Some African countries are now going to make circumcision of male infants mandatory.
36. What research matt from Israel?
Sigfried S. Kuhn ,   Aberdeen   (03.25.07)
Matt, supposedly from Israel brags about not being circumcised and then talks about the unavaiolability of water in the desert. He also writes that research shows it to be extremely hurtful. What research Matt? Is it the research in your fantasy world?
