31. BBC Reporter killed by Palestinians
ger ,   Raanana, Israel   (04.15.07)
Does anyone believe the British journalists will now boycott Palestinians?
32. BBC in common: "We condemn the occupation"
(04.15.07)
33. I hate terrorists and I hate the BBC
Mush DeLeon ,   Brooklyn, New York   (04.15.07)
So really, they can all lech leazazel. It's just so ironic to me that the BBC loves the Palis even when they kill their reporters. Sick bastards indeed. All of them.
34. BBC
kristian hovborg ,   sweden   (04.15.07)
The BBC web site has no mention of the news as I write. Could it be the BBC is thinking of a way to blame Israel, if indeed the to'sser is dead ? The BBC will have to review its journalistic integrity if ever it had some. Do not cry for Alan, he is well and kicking....a propaganda coup by the BBC.
35. the religion of peace has spoken (eom)
kutuzov ,   new york   (04.15.07)
36. BBC reporter
Nemesis   (04.15.07)
I don't believe this..none of the other leading world newspapers have this story, including the BBC..at this time anyway, and I would think the BBC would be one of the first.
37. to 22
dan ,   guate   (04.15.07)
yes, they can
38. AND THE UK JOURNALIST BOYCOTT WHO?...ISRAEL..MORONS
David   (04.15.07)
39. Need real confirmation of IDF soldiers
Steve ,   USA   (04.15.07)
B"H When there is no sound for a long time, it could be G-d forbid that the IDF soldiers were not only abducted but also murdered. The only real indication of their life would be if they are handed to a third party that can be trusted not to murder them, but also to verify they are alive. I am not sure that Egypt even qualifies to provide that proof. And similarly, the only way to know the journalist is really dead is to have proof also. The Israeli prisoners on the other hand probably have a better life in Israeli prisons than they do outside, so my sympathy goes to them that they should remain imprisoned rather than face this group of murderers.
40. That's a lie
Gazan ,   Gaza   (04.15.07)
As a Gazan I can assure you that most in Gaza know these tricks, including BBC I guess, it's just to move the water as the matter has been dead for sometime and no one is talking to these guys.. The Pal gov know them and they won't dare to kill the journalist coz the rules of the game (many jurnalists have been kidnapped before as you know) will be totally change! that's why most sources in Gaza don't really pay much attention to this crappy news! Ofcourse YNet and Israel are praying for this to be true, but I can tell them that they can hold their prayers for some other time :-)
41. WHAT'S MOST INTERESTING!!
Zaphod ,   Pluto   (04.15.07)
If you take a quick surf to some other major online news groups, like Reuters, CNN, BBC (!!), Washington Post, Sky, etc. etc., you'll notice that none of them have the gal to report a 'skerick' on this story - because (at 8:34 PM Sunday, Pluto time) it's all unconfirmed. None of them.
42. Alan Johnston
robert zager ,   Saratoga, CA, USA   (04.15.07)
Why do you dignify a murder and murderers with the term "execution". An execution is a lawful killing carried out by a lawfully constituted state following a lawful judicial process.
43. The BBC and The Palestinians
Peter ,   USA   (04.15.07)
The BBC has long been in bed with the Palestinians. So cry me a river over the fate of this journalist.
44. The Pals had every right to kidnap him
Bashir ,   North   (04.15.07)
It's because of the Brit colonialists that hundreds of people are getting murdered by the day in Iraq.
45. ACTUALLY, NEARLY WORD4WORD
oferdesade ,   Israel   (04.15.07)
it's sunday folks. they just needed time to wake up. http://www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSL1563298720070415 http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/world/AP-Palestinians-Kidnapped-Journalist.html?_r=1&oref=slogin http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/04/15/nbbc115.xml http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/6557779.stm
46. #45 surenough! (Thanks)
Zaphod ,   Pluto   (04.15.07)
47. Prisoners held by BBC?
Phenomen ,   Warsaw / Poland   (04.15.07)
Is BBC keeping any Palestinians in prison? Are they planning new Big Brother series?
48. Interesting
Gary Selikow   (04.15.07)
Now a terrorist atrocity will cause outrage because it is the victim is an avant garde British journalist and not an Israeli. Similarly when American Nick Berg was executed by Al Qaida, it caused an outcry but no-body cared when a pregant Jewish mother and her four little girls where executed by Arab terrorists, that same week
49. Guess who will get the blame for this!!
Rachel ,   Jerusalem   (04.15.07)
We will of course. These poor dears are so oppressed that they cant help it if they even kill a 'dear friend' to their people. PAH.
50. #40 don't be so sure
Takan ,   Eilat   (04.15.07)
If indeed Alan is safe and well and all this is just a media trick to gamble on more attention then be it, although I do not understand what kind of negociations the kidnappers can still handle if they make everyone believe they killed the hostage. But then again, you, more than anybody, knows the Gazan logic and suffer the consequences of it. I bet he's been dead for a while and they were looking for a way to make it look like they meant it. The news is out, on the BBC as well and the thugs promised a video of the murder soon so it won't be too long before we know for sure (in contrast with the fate of israeli soldiers kidnapped) and all you Gazans will be able to see for yourself in what kind of place you live and who is ruling you. Palestinians, where is YOUR pride. You are being led to slaughter by these terrorists. It's only up to you to change this but last time you voted for Hamas. I guess this is your choice so face it and stop blaming other for bringing destruction upon yourselves.
51. wackos are dangerous
alan ,   Kodiak   (04.15.07)
Those responsible should be brought before the United Nations Humand Rights Commission and then buried up to their necks in the sand at low tide. But do the journailists now all pack up and leave as a protest over this brutal act of barbarians. No. They decide to join the idiocy by boycotting Israeli products. The British Government should invade Gaza and bring every single person in the murder of this journalist to justice
52. appropriate israeli response
tom ,   toronto, canada   (04.15.07)
whether alan johnston is alive or dead, this statement by the terrorists claiming to hold him deserves an appropriate response. the "palestinian prisoners" whose release they are demanding include many, many murderers and would-be murderers. why doesn't the israeli interior ministry, who are responsible for justice in israel, release lengthy and detailed accounts of the crimes that these "poor innocent palestinians" have been convicted of? surely it would read a lot differently in the world press if it were known that they were demanding the release of bloody savages just like themselves, with names and lists of previous crimes, rather than for some vague group of "freedom fighters". one hundred pictures, names, and convictions (preferably listing the victims in each attack) should be sufficient....
53. #42
Takan ,   Eilat   (04.15.07)
According to the dictionary, "execution" has 10 different meanings and the definition you provide is indeed one of those. But the word can be used in the case of terrorist arbitrarily executing hostages and even a computer can execute a program. Stop picking at the wording, Bob, and let us know what you think about this story. You have what I would call a "teacher syndrome" that is a deviant from the superiority complex ("I know better and I am gonna say it to all"). There was nothing dignifying the murderes in this article. As best remedy for your syndrome, I would advice a few strong joints and to watch the Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy (or read it if you have time). Nothing perso Bob, I agree with you though that no media outlet should dignify nor glorify nor even justify what these thugs are doing. ISRAEL, CLOSE GAZA AND DO NOT ALLOW ANY FOREIGNERS INSIDE ANYMORE.
54. If this is true
Y ,   N   (04.15.07)
then who cares.
55. Poor brutalised Pals hoodidit need a social worker
Alan ,   SA   (04.15.07)
56. Islamist MURDERERS A L W A Y S blame their victimns
malcolm   (04.15.07)
57. This Killing They Admit To
emanon ,   USA   (04.15.07)
But the Arabs refuse to acknowledge Shalit, Goldwasser and the rest are dead. Why? There is more political leverage to be gained by intimating they are alive. There are no Arabs in British jails to barter for. There are Arab killers in Israeli jails the Arabs want back, so they perpetuate the lie Shalit and company are alive.
58. Still nothing at CNN website...
Peter ,   Las Vegas, USA   (04.15.07)
13:45 on West Coast of US and still nothing at CNN website on this...must be frantically working up on some spin that can ultimately point the finger at Israel...pathetic.
59. BOO HOO, Guess he won't be joining boycott against Israel.
j ,   jerusalem, israel   (04.16.07)
While we have Arab barbarians that murder at will, British journalists are boycotting Israel! Jew hating hypocrates!!!
60. #38 "peter" - you know what is realy "pathetic"?
Leftist ,   Tel Aviv   (04.16.07)
People like you, who blame Israel for every single thing that happns in the world, without having any clue what so ever onwhat's realy going on in the ME. The man is dead, you europens can bellive his still alive but it wont make him any less dead. I Wonder if you'll come apologize after you'l hear the truth... or maybe your just to hook up on hate. Yo know, man, today is the "Holucust memorial day" in Israel and I have to say that to me at leas, it seems that europe remained exactly the same.
