61. Call me cold-hearted if you want, but
Korem ,   New York, USA   (04.16.07)
I really couldn't care less. I don't think any country in Europe is as hateful of, and dangerous to, Israel as Britain. The BBC...the Guardian...worse than even al-jazeerah. The Economist and sky and some other mags and stations in the UK are good, but most are trash when it comes to their middle east reporting, and as a result the whole country is pretty much obsessed and hateful of Israelis. We cried when they were bombed, and how did they respond? Cheering on every attack by Hezbollah or the Eilat suicide bombing.
62. Ridiculous!
Palestinian   (04.16.07)
63. Calm down.
James. ,   UK   (04.16.07)
What's with all the hatred and bile on this post. Lets just say we condemn this guys killers if that is the case. Calling the BBC anti-semitic is simply at odds with reality.
64. British Journalist Antisemitic Boycott a success
semsem ,   New York, USA   (04.16.07)
The bigoted antisemitic boycott of Israel seems to be successful. What a bunch of cowards. They thought that by boycotting Israel they would save the British journalist.
65. The liberal media reaps what it has sown.
D- ,   San Diego, USA   (04.16.07)
Let's hear the BBC do a series of articles dedicated to the purpose of helping us understand the murderers of their employee.

70. #63 James: I can quite calmly say the BBC is anti-Israeli
Scott   (04.16.07)
Actually , not too much nasty posting on this topic at all ,James. To let off the BBC and the UK journalists union is not going to happen though. You only need ask for examples of BBC bias. You will be inundated. What is striking most people is the irony of this tragic situation. For most commenters its a " I told you so" moment. Dreamers and pinkys will never be convinced that they were and are wrong, but the ruling majority in our respective communities take stock and feel their judgement - and not the pinkys - is correct.
71. reporter execution
Modd Tymer ,   Cincinnati USA   (04.16.07)
is there any doubt that the world is in the midst of an all out attack from madmen who would declare with pride that they've had killed an innocent journalist? oh yes, there is doubt and denial.they're the LEFT in our country run by elected DEMOCRATS who'd much rather blame George Bush for anything and everything under the sun.
72. Blood Lust
mike ,   chicago   (04.16.07)
Everyone is responsible but the murderers. British appeasment has not save Mr Johnson.
73. boycott to Palestinians now?
(04.16.07)
British journalists? No? Still Israel's fault? Funny that the Brigade itself blamed Britain and Abbas on issues unrelated to Israel. Or is there a way to put it back on Israel?
74. #60 "Leftist" from TA
(04.16.07)
Please reread my post...(#58) - IT IS SARCASTIC IN SAYING THAT CNN IS TRYING TO MAKE SPIN...LIKE THEY USUALLY DO...THEY ARE USUALLY ANTI-ISRAEL...THAT IS WHAT I WAS SAYING...I WAS NOT SAYING THAT ISRAEL IS TO BLAME...PLEASE RE-READ THANKS
75. 'We killed BBC reporter', Palestinian group says
Yaakov ,   USA   (04.16.07)
I believe it was just last week the Palis were expressing concern that if the violent anarchy continues and worsens in Gaza, the UN may declare it a dangerous zone and pull out their people. All other bleeding heart NGO's would likely follow suit. This could be the proverbial straw that breaks the proverbial camel's back. It is interesting how most arabs posting comments express disbelief and offer conspiracy theories. It seems they too are appalled at the self-defeating idiocy of such an act. "Palestinian Authority president meets with BBC director general in Ramallah, tells him he has credible evidence Alan Johnston is safe. " That was Wednesday Abu, this is Sunday! Won't you look foolish if tomorrow the video of Johnston's barbaric beheading turn up on the internet! And just what is this "credible evidence"? Amazing that with 85,000 PA security forces, plus thousands more of Hamas' Executive Force, they cannot find a kidnapped reporter in this small patch of realestate.. This is even more absurd than Abbas claiming her has credible evidence that Johnston is alive and well. These people never cease to amaze me for very long. Once again they prove that they are far more proficient at undermining their cause, than anything Israel or the IDF or those 'demonic settlers' can do to them.
76. If true this is OUTRAGEOUS act of cowardice
Ray Hanania ,   Chicago IL USA   (04.16.07)
Instead of everyone playing politics with this news, we should all be viewing the victim in the context of all victims on all sides. If this is true, this is an outrageous act of cowardice and the Palestinian Authority has an obligation to crack down on this immediately. I hope it is just some sick psychological prank by these murderers in the Gaza Strip but as a Palestinian and as a journalist, I am ashamed of this conduct whether he is British, Jewish, Israeli or Palestinian. We shouldn't make light of this kind of disgraceful action and we should be speaking out demanding answers and responsibility. Some of you see the rise of al-Qaeda in the territories as your "I told you so" coming true. I see this development as bad news for everyone. Like in the column I wrote several weeks back before Passover and the changeover here at YnetNews, the religious fanatics are taking over and will take over if we all sit back and try to turn this into some kind of "this helps us, or makes us look good" attitude. If that reporter has been murdered, my people should hang their heads in shame. And as a Palestinian I condemn it without any equivocation and hope that the murderers are brought to justice. I still hope deep down that this is a lie, so sick hoax by some sick people. Ray Hanania www.hanania.com

(04.16.07)
i commend your feelings for the british journalist. my only question as an israqeli is... do you also, in the same manner and in the same tone of voice, condemn the terrorists who murder hundreds of israeli jews with suicide bombs and grenades and missiles, etc...? just wondering! aren't people people, regardless of jew or christian, israeli or british? let's face it. you are all f*ed up. your society is the lowliest possible and your morals and values as a people corrupt and murderous. these are the people and leaders that YOU CHOOSE TO REPRESENT YOU!
78. 76 - these people you excuse
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (04.16.07)
on a regular basis you justify and explain their actions and the "root causes" why they do it. go ahead, we're waiting for more.
79. to #76, ray - cowardice?
Helena ,   Sweden   (04.16.07)
ray you are as usual pathetic... Act of cowardice? I thought it is called act of abducting and murder. Or, if you wish, another manifestation of the peaceful religion of Islam. And you know what? Your people won't "hang their heads in shame". Instead they will proudly demonstrate the victim's head and scream "Allah Akhbar!" And you know as well as I do that the perpetrators NEVER will be brought to justice. So I guess you should joint the British journalists' bojcott of Israel:-) the most efficient way to quash islamic terrorism...
80. The last int reporter in Gaza
Eric ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.16.07)
who was telling their story has been killed. This seems counterproductive to me if you want the world to hear your plight.
81. Their cause is just
Kevin ,   Kuwait, Kuwait   (04.16.07)
Even though the actions of these groups are despicable, citizens of democratic countries with functioning judiciaries that support the genocidal regime running Isreal have abrogated their rights with regards to Palestinians and their supporters. All people have a right to fight those who seek to oppress them and deny them equality before the law.
82. TO 29#-YOUR POST IS SPOT ON.COULDNT GET BETTER.
SUSAN ,   ISRAEL   (04.16.07)
83. BBC Reporter
daveinboca ,   boca raton USA   (04.16.07)
The British writers' union just voted to not base any reporters in Israel. I just hope they station them in "Palestine" and that these Brit cowards suffer the same fate as Alan Johnson.
84. To #81
Simon Doerksen ,   Winnipeg, Canada   (04.16.07)
Sure, resisting oppression is just. The question is how are you going to do it? Are you going to employ children to carry explosives into population centers? How about Grandmothers? Ambulances? At what point does the end no longer justify the means? Clearly these people are struggling against the occupation, right? After all they are using this to demand palestinian prisoners be released. Isn't that an act of resistance at least as moral as using children to smuggle explosives past checkpoints, or grandmothers to bomb civilians, or ambulances, right? I think we both know that the free reign such groups has one way or another prevents the Occupation from ending, since Israel can't release it into a power vacuum. Groups such as this one will have to be brought under control before palestine can become it's own state. If they can do this to a british reporter documenting their situation, they can do it to anybody. They are not glorious resistance fighters. They are cutthroat murderers who have latched don to a worthy cause. Plane and simple.
85. Killing of Journalist
Brod ,   USA   (04.16.07)
This shows the savagery of the dark forces in the Middle East. It is time the West stops risking the lives of their journalists.
86. #81 A just cause
Josh ,   New York, USA   (04.16.07)
I can't help but think back to 1991, when Saddam attacked your country, and was driven out by the US military. Allow me to apologize for this, because we should have just let Saddam have your country. If it was up to me, no US soldier would ever be asked to risk their lives to save an ungrateful Arab.
87. #81 and Genocide...
DR ,   Florida, USA   (04.16.07)
When people like you start throwing words likegenocode around, we see how deranged you really are. Palestinian population is growing all the time. Maybe you don't really know what genocide means. Palestinians have killed each other through in-fighting more and more, yet you say nothing of this...why?
