31. We Have VA Tech, You Have Amona
emanon ,   USA   (04.20.07)
Which is the greater tragedy?
32. Disgusting sickos
James McNamara ,   Broken Hill Aus.   (04.20.07)
To beat a woman,is the pits. And to pull a sixteen year old Jewish girl's hair by Jewish goons and beat her with clubs, these are sick people. If this cameraman is as good as he claims he is, then he should have shown us the pictures of her being beaten up.Sick people.
33. Where are the men ?
Marcel ,   Florida   (04.20.07)
It is inspiring to see the living faith of htis young woman against the faithless hordes of Israel who prostrate themselves before the lie of the fasle peacemaker Bush and his evil Road Map. It only take one with faith in Israel's God to stop this evil plan of a phony peacemaker who has seduced the majority , blind fools of Israel.
34. Inspiring
Jack ,   USA   (04.20.07)
You should run for office, a brave girl, I agree that Israel should be ashamed, the whole of the Jewsish people should be ashamed that we pushed our nrethern out of there homes to make way for ther continuing terror that has engulfed us. Olmert was never meant to be Prime minister, Sharon did not want him to be prime minister he wanted a moderate to show he is even handed. Olmert and this Peretz have been a disaster to Israel why have there been no call for elections?
35. # 24
secular rightist ,   Israel   (04.20.07)
When trouble comes from our external enemies as it surely will, Nili and her ilk will be doing their one year of "national service" (community service) instead of two years in the army and her brothers and their ilk will already have finished their 16 months military service - yes that's less than half the time secular Israeli boys serve. Sure, the boys will be in their yeshivot -unless they've snuk off to earn money on the side. And both sexes will be praying - separately of course. Amona and the Gaza retreat wiould not have happened if the religious community served fully in the army: boys and girls. As a result they would have had the support of the whole nation, except of course the Arabs and looney lefties like #16. The image of the Golan community is secular and the "People are with the Golan". The "People" aren't with the "settlements" because the "settlers" have separated themselves from the "People".
36. Amona, Gush Katif
Shachar ,   NYC   (04.20.07)
These expulsions have made it an embarassment to be an Israeli soldier, to think that something that was so sacred it now so soiled, and used against the Jews, it is hard to fathom, it also so clearly points out that Jews went like sheep to the slaughter because civilians are so easily overwhelmed by a modern highly trained army. Is that really a lesson that a "Jewish" army needs to teach us.
37. #26 Michelle
Yisraeli   (04.20.07)
were you born stupid or did you aquire it through hard work? "and deserved all the beatings and pain for interfering with their job" no your not just stupid, your ugly within, a corrupted soul. you are surely very sick. your comments are disgusting. "i wish people like you would finally understand peace is the way for israel, not some stupid war over a piece of land." You retard what hasnt Israel done for the sake of peace? Save your venom for the enemy, if you were but equal to Nilis smallest fingernail, I might show some sympathy to you, but your not worthy but for contempt. do yourself a favour and do a cheshbon nefesh, you sick retard.
38. disgrace
Michael ,   Haifa   (04.20.07)
the illegal actions of her and the other settlers are the true disgrace of Israel
39. #28 Dear Michelle in Jerusalem...
Dave ,   Australia   (04.20.07)
So you are not interested in fighting over a silly piece of land? How about when they give part of Jerusalem away, which side of the fence will you be living in. The one where they will be shooting from or will you be one of the ones being shot at and refused access to your holy sites. Unless of course you see nothing holy about Jerusalem, then you will be happy to see it all given away and Tel Aviv become the capital, until that is asked for too so that you may have peace. Just which part of the land will you be happy to give away first, and which will you have last on the list. As long as its some one elses home it doesn't matter, just let me alone mentality is very short sighted indeed.
40. #35 - Secular Rightist
Eric ,   Bet Shemesh   (04.20.07)
Last time I looked, the army was complaining that they were way too top-heavy with dati people in the top units and upper echelons of command. I've read in this very newspaper about attempts to lessen the influence of the Dati'im in the army. Now you come along and say that the Dati'im don't serve? How can it be both ways at the same time?
41. Astounding Arrogance
David ,   New York   (04.20.07)
"Behind me stand the lord and the people of Israel." Well apparently that's just 2 things she's wrong about, for starters. If she stil hasn't figured out that the people of Israel are definitely not behind her, what on earth makes her think the Lord stands behind her? Certainly not the Torah. Try asking any Rabbi who's more interested in Torah than politics. I thought we Jews were supposed to be smart. I guess that goes out the window when one is blinded by fanaticism.
42. Religious over serve if anything #35
Ilan ,   Arile   (04.20.07)
Since a disporportionate contribution to the combat troops comes from the knitted kipa community it is quite a stretch to say that we owe anything in the way of contribution to the IDF. What exactly do you want? Combat officiers, reserve duty, committment or is the only measure the number of days in Sadir? Show a little respect.
43. A true Woman of Valor.
LEE ,   NY, USA   (04.20.07)
44. This is a true bas yisroel
David ,   Brooklyn   (04.20.07)
I am inspired to read this girl's words. She is a true hero.
45. Give the prize to Nili
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (04.20.07)
She deserves it more than the shmuck leftist photographer.
46. Violent Clashes?
mordechai ,   jerusalem   (04.20.07)
It looks like Ynet is still ashamed of the lawlessness it supported at Amona, by virtue of the strange phrase "violent clashes" used ,for a few dozen grown men with weapons beating up a teenage girl.
47. Raising spirits by creating models; another perspective
observer   (04.20.07)
The model has to be a girl, Israeli girls can join military service, Arab girls are far beyond. A teen aged bravely "struggling" without throwing stones, even against non-armed policemen, contrasts not bad with others' deed. A religious girl student dressed in long-skirt and head cover is a symbol for insinuating the idea of the to be fighting religions. It takes only a chain model creator to do the job.
48. What is really a disgrace is that no one says its a disgrace
AR ,   USA   (04.20.07)
to distroy palestinian homes in their own country so that jews can move into their land. This girl is a hypocrit shut up.
49. to David #41 with your misplaced comments
Mike ,   Atlanta, USA   (04.20.07)
Save them for the government. You sound like an Olmert supporter.
50. Obeying the law
Tracy W   (04.20.07)
Those who criticize these brave people as law-breakers are totally missing the point. The laws that the government passed in order to effect the expulsions violated the right of Jews to live on their own land and were not based on principles of human rights. And when higher principles are involved, one has the obligation to protest peacefully. Think back to the Nazi years. Had decent Germans taken to the streets and protested laws allowing the persecution of Jews, the Holocaust would have never happened. German gentile wives who protested as a group the arrest of their Jewish husbands, got their men back. Many of those upholding obedience to government laws forget that during WW2 their ancestors may have been saved because someone, some law-breaker, ignored British laws that forbade the smuggling of Jews into Palestine. Still, the Leftist Zionist leaders in Palestine at that time failed to save thousands, even millions of Jews, because it was their policy to obey British law. The fact that Nili did not live in Amona is to her credit because it shows that she has a conscience and ACTS according to it instead of sitting back and passing all personal responsibility to the government. Nili is an admirable person. She makes us feel proud and hopeful for Israel. Nili, I truly hope that you continue to be involved and active in your country. All the best to you and to those who defended the residents of Amona and Gush Katif.
51. # 40 and 42
secular rightist ,   Israel   (04.20.07)
The army has never said that it was top heavy with religious combat troops. It in fact denies that it has any such statistics to hand. The knitted kippa community is the source of these numbers. Knitted kippot make good television so we always see an inordinate number of shots with knitted kippot. TV news is not necessarily an example of valid statistical sampling. With the exception of a very very few, religious girls do not serve in the army. Those that we do see, as distinguished by their long skirts, are usually in traditional women's roles of education, not combat. These numbers are very very small so it is not unreasonable to conclude that half of the religious population (the female half) weasles out of military service completely. The other half, the male half, serves less than half the time of the non-religious male population. So to serve equally in combat units the ratio of religious to non-religious troops should be 2 to 1 (to make up for the shorter service). Show me the official statistics that demonstrate this unequivocally. BTW - I show respect to those who deserve it. I can't see where I showed any disrespect or that any particular respect was due. Please elucidate.
52. Pulitzer
chuck   (04.20.07)
Just returned from Hungary tour, visiting Jewish cemetaries, many withgravestones of PULITZER in towns where there is nott even one Jew. Hitler decimated them all. I wonder how Pulitzer is turning over in his grave, for his prize is being given to show how once again Jews are forcefully thrown out of their homes

55. Nili

Thank you Nili!! You are the keeper of the Faith. As for to the rest of you, enemies if Israel, wherever you are: no one will remember you, you are dust in the wind.

59. She sounds like King David to Goliath
Scott ,   Haifa   (04.20.07)
When David said to the Philistine, "You come at me with sword and spear, but I come at you in the name of the L-rd of Hosts..." America was founded so that the government would always be a servant of the people.
60. No, its not something to be proud of....
Andy ,   Ramat Hasharon   (04.20.07)
Fighting for what she believes in means violating the law of a democratically elected government about which settlements to sanction in the territories and which not to. If you disagree with that, then protest and change the government. I am not proud of her convictions under which what she believe trumps the decisions of thie government as to settlement policy. I am even less proud of Jewish parents, like hers, who let her participate in such protests. That said, she did nothing for which she deserved to be beaten, and I hope those involved are brought to justice. But the Government of the State decides settlement policy, not Ms. Nilli. In othe words, I totally agree with No. 5.
