1. "Yitzhak Rabin attended the ralley" LOL!!!!
(05.04.07)
2. "message regarding Israel's character"
Reality Check ,   BaGolan   (05.04.07)
Yes it is - a nation of Democratic values where we can stand up and protest en masse our government's failings. Once again, "Peace Now (sic)" has proven that the only time it will approve of speech without conditions is when it serves the interests of those that would destroy us. Perhaps Oppenheimer should join his hero Bishara in exile
3. An open invitation
Azmi Bishara ,   Dameseq   (05.04.07)
I await the joining of my good friend and ally (no not Nasrallah) Mr. Oppenheimer to join me here and participate in my cabinet in exile as we move hand in hand to destroy the Yid state. He could perhaps join us as Foreign Minister or Minister of Defence. He does have the same qualifications as Mr. peretz. I will introduce him to Sheikh Nasrallah as we break pita and chummus over a glass of Saudi Cola.
4. The Left is afraid of new elections
Tracy W   (05.04.07)
The Left will never have as much influence as they have now. Israelis have learned a lot in the last few years. They have understood the consequences of Disengagement, and what results from appeasement of the enemies within. They don't want to go to war again under the leadership of people with no qualifications for the job. This is a critical time for Israel and it needs leaders that reflect the wishes of the electorate. The only hope for the future lies in new elections.
5. Israel's Character
marya ,   sacramento, usa   (05.04.07)
Yariv Oppenheimer may have better enjoyed living during the days of Karl Marx if thinks people don't have a right to speak their thoughts and protest the failures of government.. I guess its more favorable to fly in small aircraft, scanning the borders for Jews to throw out of their homes. That brings much praise for you(and shekles) if it's the antisemitic EU types you pander to.
6. Olmert found a friend!
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (05.04.07)
As if things couldn't get worse for Ehud Olmert, the most marginalized group representing the most extreme minority of Israeli society has come to stand by him. As if he was not hated enough, now Olmert will also be hated by association.
7. Peace Now; War Tommorow
Zvi ,   NY, USA   (05.04.07)
Yair asks a legitmate question-What is the alternative? The answer is not with the failed policy of Peace Now and their insane concessions. We must learn to live with the idea that peace may not be possible now or even, heaven forbid, in the future. The alternative might mean learning how to sit tight and making sure the other side understands that there will be severe consequences for every attack. And maybe one day there will come a realization from the other side that peace will only come when they comes to grip that we are here to stay.
8. Peace Now thanks Allah every day Olmert in office
RA   (05.04.07)
Because they know Olmert is bad for Israel, and bad for Israel is good for Peace Now.
9. Why won't someone "slam" peace now? Anyone.
Allen ,   USA   (05.04.07)
10. juvenile, one-dimensional and offered no alternative
Reality Check ,   BaGolan   (05.04.07)
A 'Peace Now" trademark
11. #6, isn't Olmert's wife a paid up member
AK   (05.04.07)
of Peace Now or is it another, but quite similar organization. Or was it his children. Or both.
12. I see it as another left-wing demonstration
Steve ,   USA   (05.04.07)
B"H To ask Olmert to resign now is a left-wing move and not right wing. It is very convenient that Peace Now protests this protest, to distance itself from the issue that it was against the first Lebanon war and against the second; it would rather have contined attacks from Lebanon or worse. But that is besides the main point. The main point is that if Natanyahu were to go in power now, it would actually serve the left wing and not right wing. Natanyahu is not right-wing. He is slightly left of midstream. Israel Our Home is right wing. Shas is religious. National Union is right-wing. This would the the new leadership that would be avoided if Olmert resigns quickly and the same Natanyahu who implemented a reduced IDF budget gets into office right away on the tailwinds of resignation. Let us not fool ourselves with the Peace Now positioning. We need to find out Natanyahu's contribution in the full version of the report before the population can make an informed decision in the elections. That means Olmert should not resign until the full version is published. And yes, that full version should have a timetable to it sometime after this summer passes so the IDF can get strong enough to repulse Israel's enemies if needed to do so as well as strong enough to repell the enemies of the United States. The IDF has its hands tied with external matters and cannot be distracted with inaccurate conclusions or even uninformed election results.
13. Peace Now is a 1 dimensional organization
Adam Mileikowsky ,   USA   (05.04.07)
That rally has more meaning and purpose than anyhting that comes out of your mouths! You still insist on giving back land that is Israel's and unconditional peace and surrender to the Arabs! The only reason you like Olmert is because you hate BB who can actually defend Israel and will implement a new Defense Minister that is capable of th job not someone who is a corrupt crony puppet! Peace Now and it's policies have been and will conitnue to be in Israel's worst interest! I think Peace Now should definitely zip their mouths up since they obviously do not care about Israel's security only giving away Israeli land to terrorists!
14. The laws of Physics must not apply or be CONSTANT in Israel.
Sergio ,   Israel   (05.04.07)
The laws of Physics must not apply or be CONSTANT in Israel.... The accepted opinion is that a full Qiqar Markhe' Israel contains about 200-250.000 people. Everyone says that it was full to the brim, even the streets around it. However, they speak only of 150.000. The 1982 Peace Now demonstration, the one with "Sharon Murderer" and "Begin Murderer" posters, was held in the same Square, with no about 40.000 people according to the police yet it is somehow still referred to as the "400.000 people" demonstration. I guess that if one is pro-palestinian even physics do not apply!
15. Peace Now, listen to Hamas
Tracy W   (05.04.07)
Peace? With whom? The following is the latest in a series of very clear statements by Hamas regarding their intentions. Don't forget Hamas represents a majority of Palestinians. It reads: "The extermination of Jews is Allah’s will and is for the benefit of all humanity, according to an article in the Hamas paper, Al-Risalah. The author of the article, Kan'an Ubayd, explains that the suicide operations carried out by Hamas are being committed solely to fulfill Allah’s wishes. Furthermore, Allah demanded this action, because “the extermination of the Jews is good for the inhabitants of the worlds.” The killing of innocent Jews by terrorist attacks is portrayed as Allah’s plan for the benefit of humanity." 16. Peace Now has only agenda, not principles
Raymond from DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (05.04.07)
Says Oppenheimer, "If Olmert says, 'I am staying on as prime minister and advancing the peace process' - that's okay." So rank incompetence doesn't matter, lack of public support doesn't matter, failure to deal with existential threats doesn't matter. As long as Olmert is well placed to promote their agenda, they'll stand with him. That says it all, doesn't it? Peace Now, as with its agenda, has been fully discredited.
17. Isn't Peace Now funded by EU States?
Kellie Weinstock ,   Canada   (05.04.07)
Isn't Peace Now funded by EU States? Wonder how much money does Peace Now actually get from Israeli's.
18. PEACE NOW IS NOT A FRIEND OF ISREAL.
MIKE HAMEN ,   usa,tx   (05.04.07)
19. The Lie of the 400,000
Ilan ,   Ariel   (05.04.07)
Couldn't happen. You just can't get that many people there. Just another myth to grant legitimacy to only one side of the debate.
20. Pinch me, I'm dreaming...
Ariel ,   Sydney, Australia   (05.04.07)
For the first time, I actually agree with Peace Now: The demonstrators should weigh up what the alternative is and offer one before yelling and screaming. I have no preference seeing as I don't live in Israel, but when you demonstrate against something, you must put forward an alternative. Otherwise it is what we call in Yiddish "luft gesheft".
21. Waste of Time.
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (05.04.07)
22. Both Peace Now and Olmert have corrupt goals
Rachel ,   Negev   (05.04.07)
The only difference is that Peace Now's agenda is ideological and treachereous and Olmert / Kadima's agenda is to milk the system for as much power and money as it can, even it means endangering the future of the State. Both are a great danger to the future of our people.
23. Reaction to report
Gary A. Glaser ,   Hutchinson, MN, USA   (05.04.07)
The one message I get from this whole affair is that there seem to be a lot of people with some power today who are affraid of Benjamin Netanyahu.
24. "Waste of Time"
Shoshannah ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.04.07)
Yes - #21 - you are right - the demonstration was a waste of time, IF those in attendance think they've done enough... however, if those 100,000 or however many people there actually stick with the protest, by getting involved in politics or writing articles or voting differently than they are told to next time or whatever it takes to finally get a responsible government in place, then it was NOT a waste of time. Second, Oppenheimer is upset only because the hafganah was not HIS idea so there weren't any Peace Now banners on the platform... no big visual presence, no more big bucks in donations to fund his anti-Israel, self-hating, anti-Jewish organization.
25. "Those who consider this nation incapable will learn."
(05.04.07)
" May 15, 1919 Occupation of Izmir, 3 years and 4 months. I left Istanbul on the same day." (From Ataturk's Diaries, Notebook numbered 18, p.31. Ataturk'un Not Defterleri, A. M. Inan, Gundogan Press, Second edition January 1998, p.88) "I was at Black Sea on that dark day, and here I am today at the Mediterranean Sea." "I ask the world civilizations: Is this civilization, can people responsible for savage actions speak in the name of humanity, of civilization, of individuality? What do they want to undertake in our country? The minorities were rich and peaceful. They were all getting along like brothers. Who made them murderers? Izmir is Turkish. Those who consider this nation incapable will learn." (p.30, ibid. Inan, p.88) *** Atilla Karagözoğlu

27. peace now is Bolshevik

28. Why Does Ynet Print This?
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (05.04.07)
Peace Now represents no one except a very small group of left-wing extremists. How many members do they have? If I gather together a hundred loonies with a bizarre ideology, will Ynet print my views? They don't deserve a public forum & their opinions are not news-worthy. If Ynet thinks that this has entertainment value, then create a section especially for crack-pots & label it as such. We all like reading about lunatics - there is a certain fascination in the bizarre. But don't pretend it's serious politics.

30. we don't care about Peace Now ! - stop media atttention !
redmike ,   tel aviv   (05.04.07)
Why does Ynet continue to publish articles about Peace Now. If the media ignored these sad attention seekers they were shrivel up and die. Please - no more articles !
