61. I dont run with the herd !!
Birdi ,   Israel   (05.07.07)
Had I been at the scene of this awful accident I would have surely stopped my car, yes in the middle of an inter-junction in high traffic & tried to help this poor wounded dying man.I would also have phoned the police & Magen David Adom.
62. What have become of us???!
Helen ,   Israel   (05.07.07)
Ic ould hardly believe it was true. when I saw it - truly chocking if the lack of help to the accident victim was because of people's loss of values. So many just driving by! Nobody stopped to help, it was a very busy crossing - did anyone call the ambulance, at least?!
63. drivers ignore dying man
debbie ,   israel   (05.07.07)
As I understand it, the man lay on the road for approximately one minute. Are we to believe that if a lay person stopped and approached him to "help", he would have been able to save him, after such a devastating accident? By doing what? Speaking for myself, I wouldn't have had the foggiest idea what to do to save this man's life.
64. Dead guy in the road
Randall Smith ,   Oklahoma City, USA   (05.07.07)
They don't really care about anybody else but themselves. They are too busy to notice someone dying in the road. Even the bus driver drove by the bus as he was lying there dying. Nobody cared!!!!
65. disgusting
christa ,   near Monaco   (05.07.07)
And this poor man was not even an Arab would-be terrorist ! No excuse.
66. HOLD ON!!!! 30% of this country isnt Jewish
(05.08.07)
Plus add a few more perecents to the non Jewish Russians. and then add a few from the foregin workers, so please dont accuse that it was only Jews that didnt look to help this man.
67. modern state of israel
maciej ,   seattle,wa   (05.08.07)
apalling, but not that surprising, why do people automatically think israel=god fearing good helpful? cause they continue to play the 'victim'? when 80%+ of israel is atheist, why include a rabbis comment?
68. help those in need
israel ,   israel, israel   (05.08.07)
The halacha also tells us not to 'stand idly by the blood of thy neighbor' (Leviticus 19/16). You cannot see a man in distress and not offer a helping hand." How about helping their neighbors, who are in need of their land and freedom, and basic essentials of life back. Why even mention what a rabbi thinks when Israel is a mostly atheist country? Because Zionists masquerade as Jews?
69. And most of the 70% that is Jewish is not religious.
maciej ,   seattle ,wa   (05.08.07)
70. #1 proves that israel is about fences and not religion.
macelius ,   seattle, wa   (05.08.07)
71. So Israelis don't see anything
Marlene ,   New York City   (05.08.07)
Israelis see very well but unfortunately lack a lot of sensitivity and that is why they have complete indifference to how Palestinians suffer. To say they don't see anything is a rather poor excuse.
72. #2 Bigger Story
RenĂ©e ,   usa   (05.08.07)
I hear you. That's why this story doesn't surprise me at all. You have my prayers and sympathy. What a horrible government Israel has. :-(
73. The holy land is allergic to this kind of behaviour
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem   (05.08.07)
This what happens when you take the Judaism out of the Jew. The holy land is allergic to this kind of behaviour and it will spit us out again and again if we don't get it together. This was the warning from last weeks parsha. Painfully sad.
74. WISSAM
Ahmed ,   Umm al-Fahm   (05.08.07)
It is one thing to be anti-Zionist. But we 1948 Palestinians will not tolerate anti-Semitism.
75. #48
Plumcookin ,   Phoenix, AZ USA   (05.08.07)
This is bogus. #48 is right. The first people actually arrive on the scene around 55 seconds after the man went down. Short of parking your car in the middle of the intersection and putting your own life out there what can you do? Allow them a few seconds to assess the situation and stop their vehicles in a safe place and approach the scene without harming themselves. What irony it would be for someone else to get killed and the accident victim only be temporarily unconcious.
76. No Good Samaritan?
C.LeFevre ,   Tampa USA   (05.08.07)
This is just the saddest article. It does show the anonymity and detachment so many in society seem to feel today. When I was in an accident there were wonderful people that stopped, and even held my hand while the fire dept. jaws of life cut open my car and got me out. I would never pass by an accident without stopping to aid those in need. Life is too precious to be selfish. Israeli's above anyone should know that!
77. movin the body
Dustin ,   Chicago, Illinois   (05.08.07)
Yeah its bad that no one got out of his car and moved the body. What the hell more are you gonna be able to do besides move it on sidewalk. But how about the guy taping this if he was so appalled why didnt he do something about it
78. moped death
yossie rachamim ,   norwood massachusett   (05.08.07)
i just came back from a vacation of approx 20 days from the usa where i live with my wife of 36 yrs. i cannot understand why moped and motorcycle riders ride in between moving cars on road. i rode a motorcycle for 12 yrs,and i never had any problems. here in the usa we ride bikes like a car .....stay behind a car like yuo supposed to
79. From the movie
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (05.08.07)
I seems that he got help. Seemingly one of those car drivers that "ignored" the obstacle did park at athe side (outside scope) and came to the rescue. It took only a few seconds for him to arrive, -so what exactly is all this talk about.? If an ambulance showed up a few mins later then someone at least must have called it ! Yeah- and I don't thing even one of the drivers did not stop out of selfish motives- probably all said by reuben brauner took place too too sad and too tragic
80. Bypass a truck?
Nora ,   Tel Aviv   (05.08.07)
What happened to the truck driver ? He should stop immediately. Did he run away ?
81. No. 42 Adam
NYC Girl   (05.08.07)
Sadly, you're probably right. In fact, we had a horrific example of this sort of inhumanity in New York City many years ago. A young woman was murdered in front an apartment building where many people heard her screaming for help and did nothing...not even calling the police from the safety of their apartments. It was a terrible crime and a tragic death that might have been prevented.
82. Bashing Atheists
(05.08.07)
I noticed that some people assume that because a lot of Israelis aren't religious, that's the reason why this incident took place. Believe it or not, there are plenty of atheists who are a better example of Good Samaritans than a lot of religious people.
83. am not surprised
Steve Edwards ,   US   (05.08.07)
Welcome to Israel, a country built on the bodies of the massacred Palestinians, Israel is a country that was built of Palestinian land, as the Zionist gangs carried massive crimes against innocent civilians, and took their land. this incident does not surprise me AT ALL
84. Throwing people out of their homes
Sam Michelson ,   ALon Shevut Israel   (05.08.07)
What message did people get when the nation's top priority - more important than helping the people of sderot, more important than preparing for war against the Hizbollah, etc. Was to destroy the homes of the people of Gush Katif and the Norther Shomron. You reap what you sow!
85. welcome to eretz Yisroel
David ,   PARIS FRANCE   (05.08.07)
It pains but its the way how israelians how become a nation that put aside Torah and mitzvos. Most of israelians dontl look anymore like jews they re just trying to become more goy and imitate the sorrounding nations. Shame shame! But also its our responsability as jews to make all this fryer to become close to Torah and open their eyes.
86. new apathy
Hilda ,   USA   (05.08.07)
This is very sad that Israel has come to this. Ha Judaism been lost to Israel and Israel become just another enclave of secular apathy? Israel is not just another country like all the rest. It is a special place and if it no longer is, then it it hads lost is raison d'etre.
87. There are crappy people everywhere
Yael ,   London - UK   (05.08.07)
It is trully sad that this happened and i wouldn't wish it on anyone! But to Number 85 have a look at what is happening in your own backyard (France) before u comment on anyone else!
88. #83
david ,   paris france   (05.08.07)
take some books an learn how we built our country. palestinians and arabs are foreginers , erets Isroel was, is and will be always jewish.
89. Not only ISRAEL!!!
Aron ,   Stockholm   (05.08.07)
This has nothing to do whit judaism, or religion for thath matter, it is the resultat of a egoism and individualism in the societies we have today. Israel is not the only country were this happends...
90. To all the sheep
Jeffrey ,   Wisconsin, USA   (05.08.07)
This is sad to see how easily your minds are shape from some politically motivated hack journalist. This is not even news worthy, the only reason we are talking about it is because someones agenda. I feel bad for this guy but he put himself at risk trying to squeeze between two trucks. Why should someone else risk there life by dropping everything to run out into oncoming traffic? The minute in half it took is about how much time it would take someone to maneuver around the accident and safely park. DON'T BE A SHEEP!!! Think for yourselves. Journalists are people to and even though they act like there not bias they still interpret things the way they see it. Some journalists are better than others and telling a news story. This guy is NOT telling a news story, he's telling us his propaganda.
