31. To # 3, 4, 7, and of course Talula
BUSH ,   USA   (06.06.07)
You are all one sided hypocrits. You speak as if gays are the only minority. What about the religious minority Howard or the moslem minority against it. Do they have their own democratic rights also which they never fully get Laila are they not persecuted also and called names sometimes worst than beasts and you shut your mouth. Eric what about the way arabs or Religious Jews get treated does that not show anti semitism. And you've been doing it for 60 years with the religious and arab minorities Talula you sound like some haredim that have no interest to pay taxes, and on welfare because they are also not treated as equals either. I guess you better stop picking on them cause you would be exactly the same if you were excluded.
32. Gal On: The law is anti-constitutional
Besalel ,   Kew Gardens, NY   (06.06.07)
What constitution? Eliyahu Gabbay for PM!!
33. To # 16 and 17
BUSH ,   USA   (06.06.07)
Willy who told you only 10% are against teaching gay issues or anti gay. You would be surprised that there are very moral seculars who would not allow of their children being taught this nonsense and it is a majority all over the world. Steve Russia does not have gay parades do you see them walking in burkhas. It is Taliban acc to you if gays don't have rights but if Religious Jews or arabs don't have equal rights then it is democratic. William, Cheneys daughter is always welcomed to Israel but not to march and so are all the gays in the world invited but not to show off to the world what most keep to the bedroom.
34. to sheikh: an answer re multiple wives...
(06.06.07)
it's not a secret. it's in our Bible and everyone has access to it. we don't deny that polygamy took place. as a matter of fact, only two generations ago, many yemenite jews arrived in this country with more than one wife. i cannot tell you the reason we don't do it anymore according to jewish law, but in my humble opinion...it seems that women themselves started to realize that they are indeed the stronger sex and could stand alone, rather than be a party to that.
35. To #27 Mike -All? Please justify your claim!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.06.07)
On what do you base your claim? I know many people in the USA. both family and friends and they do NOT agree with your claim. From what I understand there is a big Jewish Gay community in the USA. Please give us the facts and figures!
36. I don't understand what is the meaning of gay "pride"
susan ,   raanana, israel   (06.06.07)
I don't understand why the word "pride" comes into sexuality. You are what you are and what you do in your bedroom is nobody's business as long as we are talking about concenting adults. Gays should have the same rights as straights in every respect but why do you need a parade? I don't need to march in the streets as a straight woman. Any legal issues - marriage, child custody, job rights - should be settled by the courts - and hopefully civil ones at that...
37. To # 22 and 25
BUSH ,   USA   (06.06.07)
The vote seemed democratic to me. if you believe in democracy then you believe in the rights of the people. If majority people say right and minority left don't you thing following the minority is not democratic. You are the only undemocratic people out there so stuff your communist ideologies in the trash.
38. To # 21
BUSH ,   USA   (06.06.07)
David if these stages are a matter of being able to say Iran here we come, is that not better than disobeying G-d and letting it be "Israel here comes Iran" And if you don't believe Jewish sins can bring on nations to destroy us always look back to the holocaust. Live and let live is a right as long as it doesn't hurt anybody. AND IF YOU CAN'T BELIEVE THAT EITHER STOP COMPLAINING WHEN IRAN THREATENS YOU OR A KASSAM DESTROYS YOUR HOME. because live and let live even if it hurts you.
39. SHEIKH
BUSH ,   USA   (06.06.07)
Not sure what you're talking about. No secret at all. About 900 years ago a Rabbi by the name of Rabeinu Gershom did not allow one to marry more than one wife because of a certain incident that occured. All Jews do not do it for that reason.
40. #36 If Gays Had Rights no need for Parades
Fortunee ,   Boston, USA   (06.06.07)
#36 if Gays were given their Human Rights, they would not need a Parade. By Pride they mean that they are not beasts as described by the leader of the Shas Party; that they are not ashamed but proud of who they are.
41. Sheikh #18 had a very good idea to resolv some problems
Keren ,   SP-Israel   (06.06.07)
in Israel. The problem is to deal with women's jelousy!
42. GAY PRIDE...
HAIM RUBAT ,   MONTREAL CANADA   (06.06.07)
I RESPECT EVRYBODY, AND EVEN MORE IF THAT PERSON IS DIFFERENT...BUT BEING GAY IS A SEXUAL ORIENTATION, NOT A RACE ...SO PLEASE GAYS... KEEP YOUR SEXUAL LIFE PRIVATE LIKE IT SHOULD BE....AND IT WILLBE OK. WE DONT HAVE TO BE FORCIBLY INVOLVED INTO IT BECAUSE YOU TRY TO BE RECOGNIZED AS.......WHAT BY THE WAY ???????
43. Undemocratic!! Seculars in general are next to be opressed!!
Asaf ,   Ashdod, Israel   (06.06.07)
Sash is the most undemocratic party in democracy since the National Socialist movement. They represent a minority that votes only to that party, while the majority's votes are divided and diluted between the many other left, right and center parties. This is just a racist minority's agenda, and their twiking the democratic system to suit their own needs. Next time there will be a legislation against public rallys of any kind under the claim of "disturbance of the peace", and before we know it there will be laws against public displays of securalism. This recent move by Sash will in no way help to hold the peace. Gay Rights activits will march and rally in spite of it and they can now raise the flag of defending democracy in general. Sash just opened the biggest Pandora box of politics.
44. BUSH stay in the states!!!
Dan ,   Israel   (06.06.07)
45. Good it's about time the Knesset did something right.
Avraham ,   Netivot   (06.06.07)
Stop the gay/queer parade from taking place anywher in our "holy land"!
46. Homosexuals
Reuven ,   Petach Tikvah. Israe   (06.06.07)
Homosexuals certainly have rights - human rights. Their unnatural sexual orientation is their own affair. They do not need to hold parades anywhere to demonstrate their sexuality; in the same way that I do not need to parade to show my hetrosexuality. It's my own business. Think about it. What is GAY PRIDE. Why do you have to flaunt the fact that one is a homosexual. The best advice is let the homosexuals get on with what ever they like to do to each others in their private homes and don't ram down the throats of those who find homosexuality unacceptable their particular life style. Homosexual parades only cause problems because they genuinely incite people who find homosexuality repugnant. Human rights-yes; Gay Parades-no.
47. Disappointing Sheikh (5)
sk ,   USA   (06.06.07)
I have to tell you, Sheikh, that I find your TB very disappointing. Perhaps your (18) suggests that you meant (5) ironically.
48. Laila in Montreal
Guy ,   New York, NY   (06.06.07)
Laila, I'm disgusted by this bill as much as you are, and by comments made by SOME politicians, but you CANNOT make monolithic statements about Israel just because of the actions of a few.I don't know what you mean by "persecution". Are gays being harassed in the streets? I've heard similar comments come out of the mouths of politicians from Spain and Italy, and I wonder, are you complaining about them? I'm sure you know how liberal Israel actually is in regards to its gay rights record: gays serve in the govt., in the army, are prominent in every walk of life, they are protected under the law from homophobic hate crimes, and Tel Aviv is essentially a gay Mecca. In addition, gays also have cohabitation rights for same sex couples. I wonder, do you go on talkbacks for countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran and Syria (or the Palestinian Territories for that matter), and criticize them for their treatment of homosexuals which include banishment, torture, and death? Somehow I doubt it, but of course you always have time to harass and bad mouth evil, fascist Israel. You're so brave!
49. Gay Rights
Support Waning ,   Florida   (06.06.07)
I'll preface this by saying I'm not Gay. This allows me to make it known that my support for Israel is based on the fact that it's supportive of Jews regardless of their skin color or sexual preference or political ideology or whatever. My support for Israel lasts as long as it is a tolerant nation for both Jews and Non-Jews. My support lasts as long as it is capable of showing it's a free nation in the Middle East and proves it's capable of defending its ability to be a free nation. But when I see legislation like this. It brings me and my support much closer to "putting on my shoes" and just "walking away".
50. They want more than "freedom of speech"
Lynn ,   Los Angeles   (06.06.07)
I live in W. Hollywood, the gay capital of southern California (the northern capital is San Francisco). Years ago gays marched against discrimination, then gained more and more political power. Today young children in our public schools read stories about 2 princes in love or families with 2 mommies or 2 daddies. The high schools and colleges have gay and lesbian courses and activiities. A few days ago California passed a law to allow gay prisoners overnight conjugal visits with their same-sex partners. Israelis should not fall for the "freedom of speech" excuse designed to elicit sympathy for their political agenda. The gays desperately want to march in Jerusalem because this city, more than any other, represents the 3 major religions that are against homosexuality. Destroying Jerusalem's holiness would be a major victory.
51. First they came for Jerusalem, then they came for Tel Aviv
sk ,   USA   (06.06.07)
How many times have we heard that the issue was a pride parade in Jerusalem? "Why not just Tel Aviv?" we were told. We now know, with absolute certainty, that this was one big lie by the clown suited ones, and that other Orthodox will play ball with them. Religious fanaticism (as indicated by the funny costumes the Haredi wear) is universally oppressive and universally undemocratic. The Israeli Knesset, the biggest joke among parliaments, again earns its special status. Oh by the way, Israel's liberalism on gay issues provides a very effective tool to challenge attacks on its democracy from abroad (not that it is ever used for this purpose by Israel's elected idiots). That, too, will be be lost. Jews from outside who do not wear funny hats will also judge harshly. American frummies will love you, but do you really need more parasites to "ascend" to Israel?
52. Parade !!
miriam ,   israel   (06.06.07)
In reply to Lilach Shoval : You need not necessarily go back into the closet if you don't parade. You are going from one extreme to another ! Your parade in Tel Aviv last year was vulgar and ugly and disgusting - my opinion.
53. #37...that was dumb
Eric ,   Israel   (06.06.07)
You are 100% correct that our Knesset democratically voted on this. However, democratically voting to oppress the will of your countrymen defeats the idea of democracy and definitely does not mean we are good people. In reference to your comments about me in #31, I can say that I agree we have been oppressing the will of people ("enemies" and our own) for 60 years and I think thats horrible. Also, I did not say "antisemitism does not exist" because, as you say, it occurs in lots of countries. What I was saying is that our undemocratic and inhumane policies followed swiftly by our hypocritical and arrogant statements in both domestic and foreign affairs contributes to antisemitism.
54. to all the religious idiots (haredim)
mike ,   US   (06.06.07)
before you stone the gays, and rejoice to God about divine victories and all that nonsense, try serving in the army and actually doing your duty as a citizen of a democracy (thats right, A DEMOCRACY, not a theocracy) before preaching your hate (dressed up as religious teachings). a sad day for this nation, which supposedly treats all citizens with respect. disgusting and backwards, becoming just like Arabs day by day.
55. Reuven (46) makes STUPID ARGUMENT #3
sk ,   USA   (06.06.07)
Last year, just to be helpful, I cataloged stupid arguments. This allowed me to address the endless repetition of the anti-gay bigots. Reuven, please review my TB #98 from the linked article. Those who want to review many of the STUPID ARGUMENTS in one place can simply read my other TBs there. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3294083,00.html
56. #46
Eric ,   Israel   (06.06.07)
1) Im straight and proud of it. I can't stand the left wing and I can't stand the right wing. I think this country in general is beyond pathetic and hopeless but Im hoping for the best. 2) "unnatural sexual orientation" by who's standard? If you tell me the Torah, stop reading now because although I respect ones right to religion I think we need to find a way to merge religion with modern reality. 2) They flaunt it because we don't let them be free about it. In the streets we give them weird stares, our politicians talk about them as though they are some sort of subhuman waste, and every time they want to parade about the media goes nuts and we proceed to have "talkback riots" over it. African Americans stopped parading and marching once they got their rights and were accepted as equals (accepting one as an equal takes a lot more then permitting them to dance around half naked). 3) If you were gay, you would say straight people shove their sexuality down your throat. How many advertisements, movies, etc focus on the bodies of men and women and usually while together? "Straight sex" is in our face every day. 4) You cannot have human rights with limits as you propose with your comment "human rights - yes, gay parade - no". That's like the Nazi's or Iranians or something we term an enemy declaring "the Jews can be alive but like hell they will pray in their synagogues!". You and I wouldn't accept quazi-equality or quazi-rights so who the hell are you to expect them to accept something you would not?
57. re: #'s 34, 39, 41
Sheikh yer Bu'Tay   (06.06.07)
#34 Ha, ha! funny! It comes down to individual desires, eh? #39 Please tell me more about the "certain incident" that forbid Jews from multiple wives. #41 Oh, how true! Twenty years ago I conducted a survey of ten women, all aged between 28 and 38 about multiple marriage. Nine were either widowed or divorced, one was married. All of the women said they would not mind sharing a husband, except for one.. my wife!!! LOL!
58. #47 sk of the USA
Sheikh yer Bu'Tay   (06.06.07)
Sorry to disappoint you sk. You have your deviations from the norm and I have mine. But no matter how much I desire something, I desire to please G-d more! So, I do not do what comes naturally to me. I have been with the same woman for over 32 years now.
59. for once they did right!
eliezer ,   jerusalem, israel   (06.06.07)
the first time I saw a 'gay' parade was when I was in Hollywood, Ca. It was disgusting seeing men not just march but fondling each other's genitals. One queer even bent over in public and gave a kiss on the spot of his friend's genitals. How disgusting! Do we need trash like this in Israel?
60. Thank G-d for the National Union
