You have a right to buy pig meat, babe, you have a right to pay through the nose for it!

You made most idiotic remark , giving muslim country as an example. Don't comare Israel to rest of the middle east.
63. Disgusting...
Adi ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.11.07)
Just goes to show that money can buy everything... not that I buy pork or non kosher food but it is a free market and should stay that way... I hope that someone else opens a "Tiv Tam" and covers this niche in the market...
64. #33,51,52,53,62--Charles p-tivka-you can't hide very well.

65. Hey Kyle
roxy ,   israel   (06.11.07)
I don't go out of my way for pork products, but a little shrimp on the grill once and a while is great. The kosher meats here are horrible, most have a high water content in them, and this is the only country in the world where meat is purchased by a number, not a cut such as sirloin or roast. The kosher hot dogs here are no where near as good as HEBREW NATIONAL tastes either. Why don't you move here and try some of the kosher meats here and you will see why so many people are upset that TIV TAM is going kosher!
66. I'll vote for Gaydamak if he runs for mayor of Jerusalem!

ann ,   israel   (06.11.07)
nobody HAS to do anything. you don't have to eat kosher. neither do i. i choose to because i figure doing what god wants seems like a good idea. as much as you don't want to admit it, you probably donate to chabad for pretty much the same reason. anyway, i'm not knocking you, and i wonder why you're so hostile. and as a side note, i doubt your hebrew is better than mine , me being israeli and all. you remind me of this guy i met the day after yom kippur. he was a bank teller and he asked every single person who came to his desk how was their fast and then proceeded to tell them that he didn't fast and he doesn't believe that it's neccessary and wait to hear them try to tell him how you need to fast on yom kippur. i have never seen another person so needing self justification in my life. this is getting long already mark, enough said. take care.
68. Great News!!!!
MAMA ,   ISRAEL   (06.11.07)
Start acting like a Jewish country. This is the act of a man trying to save Israel.First out with the pig (food) then out with the real pigs.So if you don't like it LEAVE!!!!!

70. To all the IDIOTS who praise Gaydamak:
Hamburger ,   Hamburg   (06.11.07)
What about all the workers who will be fired, when production of non-kosher products stops? They will lose their source of income in order to serve Gaydamaks political agenda! And I respond in advance to all those who are about to shout: "They shouldn't have worked for a non-kosher chain, they're not real jews, etc.": when you need a job to support your family, you'll work for any chain, and the "real jews" who think keeping kosher is more important than providing people with jobs - they are not the real jews.
71. Tiv Taam kosher
Peter ,   Herzlia   (06.11.07)
The only reason we used to buy there was because it was not Kosher. Not a question of buying pork at all
72. #70
james ,   tel aviv   (06.11.07)
I would presume that those who are qualified to decide who are 'real Jews' are those who are qualified in Jewish law which was given to the Jewish people by G-D and handed down from generation to generation and studied today in yeshivot from the previous generation and will then pass it on to the next generation-not some guy who's body controls his brain and doesn't know what it means to say" not everything i lust for can i have". Keep on working and make lots of money coz thats what it means to be a REAL JEW acc to you!!
73. For a lot less than $100M he should learn Hebrew.

74. Religous bigots.
Talula ,   Israel   (06.11.07)
Stop trying to spew your mumbo-jumbo religious crap on the rest of us. I don't keep kosher and I eat bacon, there's not much you can do about it and Tiv-Tam is not the only place to buy pork in Israel, there are plenty places. You are not a better human being than me just because you keep kosher and maintain a sickening holier than thou attitude. You live your way, I'll live my way, and never the twain shall meet. That suits me fine.
75. #72
Hamburger ,   Hamburg   (06.11.07)
Goddam, you are exactly one of those who shout about "Jewish law", as if some formulas (as to what to eat and when to start the Shabbat) are more important then a human life and source of income for a family! Is this the answer you would give to a man who was just fired and has no work: "not everything I lust for can I have" ??? Oh, and take a look at those yeshivot you are talking about - they are an authority to you on matters of right and wrong?? Your reply is not to the point at all.
76. Tiv Taam takeover
Stella Pomeranz ,   Tel Mond Israel   (06.11.07)
Well, I certainly won't be buying there any more. I enjoyed the non-kosher selction of products which are not available in other stores in Israel as well as the convenient shopping hours. Mr. Gaydamak has certainly lost more customers like me. Bad business move letting a shark like him get hold of even more of Israel !! Ugh
77. #45
Yoram ,   Herzlia   (06.11.07)
You are right, we got Israel back because of Judaism. However the religious people are destroying it. And we have religious people who rape, murder and steal -despite the 10 commandments Yet we still support their rights, your intolerance is unbelievable.
78. #75
James ,   Tel Aviv   (06.11.07)
Yours is not the point at all- YOU are the one who is suddenly throwing in rash statements that now that he plans to convert his stores to kosher only-people that cite Jewish law care not about human life!!- what has one to do with the other? Don't you think you sound rediculous? Do you really think you sound intelligent with an argument that if an owner of a store decides to keep kosher-he is stopping a source of income for anothers family? Do you not think that kosher meat need butchers? Are you supposed to be laughed at or cried over?

i bet that will really dent him-he will probably come crawling to you for some charity! 'Bad business move'- maybe he is looking for a financial advisor as he seems short of cash-apply for the job!

Arms dealing? What a delightful man (not) - there was an arrest warrant issued for him. He's a sly man who wants to buy his way into people's affections. Not mine! I'd never ever vote for the slime ball.
82. #73 CORRECT!!! he doesn't even speak the language!

83. no more tivtam 4 me....

84. Guydamak for president

85. The fact is
Talula ,   Israel   (06.11.07)
Tiv-Tam was purely for seculars. Any religious person wouldn't go near a place like that. Now, considering Tiv-Tam was packed solid night and day, I'd say he's going to lose oh so much business! And quite frankly, it makes me happy. We have other great places to buy pork from.
86. Gaydamak
NYC Girl   (06.11.07)
What he's doing with this maneuver is political pandering at its worst and, under normal circumstances, the best thing would be for those customers of the store who are fed up with seeing their options being eroded, to not shop there. Unfortunately, in this case, it may not be all that effective since this guy has money up the wazoo.

89. #17 What happened to "capitalist democracy"?
SR ,   NYC   (06.11.07)
Look around you. The greatest bullshit story of the 20th century is that democracy=capitalism and capitalism=democracy has been debunked by places like Russia, China, USA, and Norway. It is quite possible for socialism and democracy to co-exist, as in Scandinavia ( and Israel of the past) and for capitalism to live happily within the worst and the most corrupt political systems, as in US, China, Russia, India, Egypt, Iran. Capitalism is at its creative best when kept small, owned and run by a founder or family, and/or on a very short leash. Newman's Own, Inc., Taylor Guitar Company, Kaspersky Labs are examples of viable capitalism. Wall Street, Enron, Monsanto, Exxon, and Barings are the dangerous mutations thereof. The BS capitalism prevalent today, based on mass suckerdom, hyper-marketing, myopic and merciless exploitation of raw and labor resources, massive governmental corruption, and artificial speeding-up of money circulation is what actually killed democracy in the US and rearing to do the same in other places. Kudos to the continental Europeans (but not specifically to the corrupt and rotten New European Left), Canadians, and even Australians for their superior understanding of the nature of the beast.
90. Are ALL pig eaters such babies?
Taami   (06.11.07)
The level of the the 'pig eating' talk backs sounds like they're all in kindergarten. What silly sulky children. I hope they all stuck their tongue out at Mr.Gaydamak, and made faces at him behind his back...as that would REALLY frighten him...What a bunch of Miss Piggys of Muppet fame they are, they sound exactly like her, it's just unbelievable. Wonder what they all look like? Na, rather not know.
