61. Burg shows us true direction of Israeli left
Chaim   (06.15.07)
Burg is a pathetic human being, Jew and was an abysmal lIsraeli leader. Burg does accomplish one thing. He shows us the true direction the Israeli left is going in. "Peace" is a mere facade or fig leaf. Israeli concessions have never increased peace. They have always lead to more violence. It's never been about peace, for many leftists. It's about perverse self hatred and a death wish for themselves and Israel. Burg symbolizes Israel's abysmal leftist leadership. Nothing is more obvious than the fact that the Israeli left is unfit to govern. It must be replaced promptly by leader ship of strong ,proud, nationalist Jews.
62. where is he?
mandehu ,   kabul, afghanistan   (06.16.07)
to give him my personal opinion about his burg-eois 'gauche-caviar' illusions. And to exclude him from any minyan, like the people at Chopin did to his father-in-law...
63.  BURG IS NOT SO WRONG
Avrahim ben Adam ,   usa   (06.17.07)
Burg has said many things, some agreeable, some not so much. When he said the following, he was correct: "You have abandoned Judaism. You have an Israeli identity without Jewish content. You identify Judaism with narrow particularism and settlements. I suggest you go to see places where Judaism is a universalistic ideal. Go and learn the meaning of Reform and Conservative and Reconstructionist Judaism." He also said: "What I want to do is expand the borders of Israel beyond land and location to include universalism and spiritual search." "We were raised on the Zionism of Ben-Gurion, that there is only one place for Jews and that's Israel. I say no, there have always been multiple centers of Jewish life." Burg also stated: "If a state is Jewish, it is founded on a certain measure of holiness. Moses himself defined holiness as an ongoing process of actions, of behavior toward others and toward G-D. I am very afraid of automatic holiness. It can lead to chauvinism, to exclusivism, to all kinds of negative ramifications in relations between individuals and between nations. The Jewish people after 60 years of statehood cannot allow itself to take its holiness for granted." Whatever ones opinion of Burg may be, these statements reveal the broader view, commonly held by many Jews in America.
64. Avraham Burg
Serge Pascal ,   Montreux Switzerland   (08.31.08)
Bravo, Avraham to make Israelis and Jews aware of the realities and values of the world around us. Israel is a fantastic human achievement if you forget the occupation, the settlements, the check points, the wall and the official discrimination of Israeli Arabs. Israel seems ok as a small place to live for the few Jews who live there. For people of other faiths or secular Jews, Europe or America offer better alternatives based on tolerance and equal opportunities for all. Avraham understands this, some others not yet.
