Um, which rabbis are you talking about? the ones that sexually assault women or sexually abuse little boys? Can we first get that issue sorted out. And PLEASE don't tell me they don't - we only have to look in the archives of local newspapers to see that INDEED THEY DO!!!!!!!!!!!!
62. #61 A Rabbi is an ORTHODOX Jew who is very knowledgeable in
Miriam ,   Jerusalem   (06.14.07)
in the ENTIRE Torah, like Rabbi Mordechai Eliayahu shlit"a, Rabbi Eliyashiv shlit"a, Rabbi Ovadiah Yosef shlit"a. Anyone else who does not have ALL of the above credentials is NO Rabbi. A Rabbi is NOT someone the MEDIA defines as "Rabbi" and not someone who defines himself as Rabbi and not someone who has a beard if he doesn't have the above qualifications. That's why there's no such thing as a "reform rabbi". They're nothing but ignoramouses. There's no Rabbi in the world commiting immoral acts you mentioned. So your condemnation of an immoral person is not a Rabbi. He's nothing but a sinful Jew.

If people give religious reasons against this parade , i'll react against those religious reasons , and mix the Shoa in our discussion . If for you gays are deviant and have an unnatural lifestyle , for them it's the normal way of life .
64. In my country it was once a 'sin' to be a Jew.....
Liam Hogan ,   London U.K.   (06.14.07)
Habakook #1. You state that all parades are: "Foul, crass and egomanicical". Does this opinion include: Mardi-Gras, May day, Labor Day, Remembrance Day, Corpus Christi, Feast of the Assumption, Easter, Pesach, Diwali, Ganesh, Purim, Halloween, Harvest Festival, 4th of July, Other countless National Day parades the world over? Or is just when the gays want to dress up and have some fun that you find it so objectionable? Shalom.
65. #18 Amen my friend, you are so right on.

Because it's a fearful thing to fall into the hands of a living G-D. I gotta tell ya, I'm so tired of reading your TB's about the Shoa. You have probalby chosen not to believe in Hashem long before you came to this country. You're not smart enough to make it through this life without Hashem. Continue on like this, and Hashem will protect your free will to do so. You can even throw your finger in his face and declare your hate and unbelief to him. And you know what Charles, he will love you right up to the gates of hell if that's where you choose to go. But once on the inside of those gates, his love stops and his judgement for you in making you rebellious choice starts. So suck it up and get over it and move on in your life, or go the hell if you choose. You're nothing more that a cry baby who has no spiritual insight into things and must depend on his intelligence(or lack of it on your part) to get through life. But no matter, soon your life will be over and than you will face what you face, and those of us who do believe in Hashem, and put our faith and trust in his word and covenant to us will go on happily in our lives and continue to live in his blessings and protection. Poor Charles, not even smart enough to believe in Hashem.
67. It was also a 'sin' to be a female who.....
Liam Hogan ,   London U.K.   (06.14.07)
Demanded the right to divorce, Demanded the right to keep her children, Demanded the right to education, Demanded the right to pursue a career, especially one where males had exclusivity, Demanded the right to enter politics, Demanded the right to equal treatment under the law, Demanded the right to vote, Demanded the right to own property, Demanded the right to inheritance, Demanded the right to stay unmarried, Demanded the right to choose to bear children, Demanded the right to dress as an individual and still have respect from leering males, Demanded the right to say 'no' to sexual demands form spouses. I could go on. Male, heterosexual interpretation of Torah and the NT was used exclusively to repress these rights. These rights were denied women for 1900 years until 20th century democratic, constitutional and secular enlightenment in Europe and Israel changed the law and removed oppressive religious involvement. The gays are the only people still be subjected to this oppression by religious interpretation. It is high time it was stopped. Shalom.

70. Jerusalem, holiest place on earth
monica telson ,   davie, usa   (06.15.07)
The holiness of Jerusalem should be always preserved as the place where pilgrims from all over the world come to feel the presence of the Almighty in a special way. Do not defy the God of Abraham. Remember Sodoma and Gomorra! That's a real shame!
71. parade
debbie ,   NOLA   (06.15.07)
Look guys-put aside the religious aspect of all this and the politics etc- this is my take: Sexuality as in the very act itself belongs where???Why is it that what people do in the privacy of their home must somehow be "paraded" to the world??????why?????why not parade and have everyone advertise (by show and tell)how to defecate in public?Or urinate? why is someones' sexual behavior supposed to be "for everyone to see"? Stop with the politics etc.It has nothing to do with personal views on deviancy/it has to do with putting your personal business outside the home. are we animals or dogs?
72. #42 you are the ignorant one
debbie ,   NOLA   (06.15.07)
Look genius, I live in a place where the French Quarter has a huge gay community and work with some of the finest gay employees-everyone knows who they are and it is no big deal.No one is in the closet. But they do not go into their sexuality and what they do as others do not either. It is just as retarded for straight people to march around and declare their hetero behavior!!!!!and we are supposed to admire and res[ect what people DO???Is it some sort of achievement????I know it's a club of sorts but the parade is absurd esp. when we see a lot more going on than a parade AND YOU KNOW IT. Don't call others ignorant-watch what happens in disney world on their special day- animal behavior outside for everyone to see. and we are supposed to respect people doing this? This is your idea of self-pride????
73. #69 Charles
Debbie ,   NOLA   (06.15.07)
You call people stupid bec they happen to believe in G-d ????And who exactly are YOU????Some great wisdom you dispel. What happened to the liberal, tolerant ones???Oh it is reserved for those who think and believe like you?BTW, Einstein(who I suspect was a hell of a lot smarter than you)realized there was definitely a higher power and he came to this conclusion after studying the laws of the universe. he was a scientist and intellect, the likes of which some pea brain like you is obviously not aware of. How dare you call that woman stupid? Take a look at a mirror mr know-it-all. You are lightyears away from Einstein.
74. Debbie
charles ,   petach tikva   (06.15.07)
And you are lightyears away from me , i'm between Einstein and you , but much more near this great scientist than to you . How dare you compare those believing in hell , as they did in the dark middle ages , to a man living in the 21st century ? Well , we have again seen this "great wisdom" in action this night . Throwing stones that is their , and yours , if you were a man , "great wisdom" . I'll tell you that for me this is truly not how i see wise religious men . They exist , i know some , but sad to say , they are a small minority . Regarding Einstein , he believed maybe that there was a "superior force" . Free massons also talk about " the great architect of nature" . But Einstein , as far is known , nor those Freemassons , was or are believing that god created the world in six days . They do'nt believe in a hell neither . Compared to you , yes , i'm Mr Know it all , but that's not difficult seen your low level . Shabbat Shalom , poor Debbie

in my # 30 , i asked this person to give me a reason , acceptabel to a secular , to believe . You answered in his [ or her ] place , but this is a no answer for me . You are talking about hell [ in the 21 st century , how is it possible to believe such an idiocy ] about his words and so on . For me without any value . You are right with one thing . I came as a secular to my HOME country , but became more and more opposed to religion because such people as you , and those ressembling you . Because of the behaviour of those fanatics of Mea shearim , of those "rabbis" , of those separate places in busses , of this segregation and so on . You all are the cause of this . One thing you did , i know you better now , sad to say , you have only shown your bad side , and the bad side of a part of those "religious" On the other side , there are the "TRUE" religious people , those for who "ve'ahavta et re'echa" is their leitmotiv . Those many who are devoting their life to help others in need , Yad Sara , Ezer Mitzion and the many others . Those are people who deserve the greatest respect , and not this stupid Miriam or Tamar who can only talk , and insult [ sorry for falling as low as you ]

correction: when will you ever learn to speak/write english correctly? You are not a know-it-all. you are still an arrogant jerk. and sadly enough, you still think you are smarter than everyone else. That is the biggest joke of all.You may not agree with others, but you are no authority on religious matters-butthole.No pun intended here.
78. joke on you charles

I do not know your educational background but lord knows, it seems very much in desperate need of help. What an ass.

Baruch ,   Boston, USA   (06.15.07)
You said "If for you gays are deviant and have an unnatural lifestyle , for them it's the normal way of life . " What does this mean? First, as I said, it isn't just gays, and they are bad enough. It's the entire GLBT, etc., crowd. You may not think a man having sex with a man is deviant or a woman having sex with a woman. How do you explain the natural function of the sexual organs? Do you also think that bisexual people are normal? Transvestites? Transgenders? Do you then think that bestiality is okay, if both human and beast consent? And sado-masochism if both parties consent? I'm not saying they can't do it if they choose to. I am saying it is unnatural, and that anyone who is "proud" of his or her preference for this and not for normal one man-one woman relationships is really practicing self-deception. To parade this around any city is shameful. To parade it around the holy city of Jerusalem is provocative. This is not a religious issue. It is a social issue and a question of sanity.
80. this parade may be the reasonSyria maydeclarewaron Israel...
Rebekah Kmet ,   California   (06.15.07)
when a man's ways please ha'Shem, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him, it is written. This gay pride parade may be what is displeasing ha'Shem. The Torah says it is an abomination to the L-rd for a man to lie with a man as he lies with a woman. When New Orleans planned a Gay Mardi Gras Parade, hurricane Katrina prevented that and New Orleans was nearly destroyed. So the Gay Parade was changed to a Florida location and another hurricane named Rita hit there to stop that. There is a beautiful side of evil, but the statistics on the lifespan of homosexuals shows the darker side of that lifestyle. Gays live an average of 42 years whether female or male gays according to Dr. John Ankerberg's studies. King David said power belongs to God. Do not use the power in government to allow a Gay parade or G-d will be forced to judge His beloved city or the nation of Israel. Already, the Syrian government and archives have been moved out of Damascus in preparation for war. Do Israelis want a war with Syria or do they want to cancel a Gay Parade and repent of this offence to ha'Shem?
81. #51 You seem to miss out on sarcasm
Daniel ,   Tel Aviv   (06.15.07)
Miriam, you are really ignorant. It must be hard for someone to miss out on a thing called sarcasm. I personally would never want to move the Capital of Israel. I also recognize that being the Capital means political rallies with which I agree and those with which I don't agree will take place there. You need to learn tolerance not to mention get a better education.

Daniel ,   Tel Aviv   (06.15.07)
Sodom and Gomorrah: The Sin... You should read that very carefully. The sin was not homosexuality. It was not being kind to guests (the angels were threatened with rape). If we do not allow guests (read parade goers) we are the ones committing the sin.
83. Uncivil riots = criminal behavior; encouraging terrorism
JS Hall ,   Grapevine, TX USA   (06.15.07)
Israel may not acknowledge "the right of the people peaceably to assemble" (enumerated in the American Bill of Rights), however it is fairly obvious that rioting is criminal behavior in nearly all civil societies. Those who participate in these criminal acts, destruction of public property, and incitement of violence should be arrested and tried for their crimes. Are the police doing anything about this? Honestly this makes Israel look really bad to outsiders. It smacks of the aggressive anti-civil riots that occurred in France a couple years ago. It sounds like a fairly anarchist tactic and that these Israeli citizens are taking a page from the growing religious extremist groups which have been increasingly using violent tactics in other countries. Religious sects of Israel are beginning to court these terrorist ideologies. If the government allows this to continue then Israel may become just another unstable state in the Middle East overtaken by a violent extremist minority. Thats my two cents.
84. Baruch
charles ,   petach tikva   (06.15.07)
I do'nt say homosexuality is natural , it's not the natural function of the human body . Ok ? on this we agree ? What i said , for them it's the natural way of life . For THEM . There is a difference between bestiality and human relations of all sorts . You can't compare . And how can an animal consent ? No , it's not OK . Do you know something about sado masochism ? Do you know that most of those practicising this sort of relations are wed couples ? I've read this in a report made by a chain of sex shops . Most of the customers for this kind of material were wed , and came both to buy . Well you can call this also a way of life , certainly when both are adult consenting people . This , till a certain level of sado masochism of course , can be accepted . They do'nt parade i think , and what they are doing in their bedrooms or reunions is their private life . I can't understand all those "relations" [ certainly not male gays , women are sometimes so beautyfull ] but i will not condemn them , as long as they are both consenting adults . Regarding them parade , it's not a provocation . You have those parades in most developped countries . There sometimes the less "extravagant" is more extravagant than the most Israeli one . In Jerusalem they want to hold it more quiet , not too provocative , even that for some , there presence is already a provocation .
85. Debbie
charles ,   petach tikva   (06.15.07)
First of all , English is only my third language , you may always correct me , no problem . You are again not answering to any of my questions , to any of my quotes . You can't ? no you can't because you know that i'm right with what i'm saying . The only thing you can say , and that shows your low level , is insulting or things of this sort . Poor Debbie .
86. Daniel , Tel Aviv
charles ,   petach tikva   (06.15.07)
Do you try to convince those ladies that this parade must be allowed in OUR Capital ? No Daniel it will not work .Ignorant retrograde women can't be changed . If you say or ask something they dislike , they only can give you "nice" names . I think the best way to handle them is to let them stay with their beliefs , and hope they did not infect too many with this illness .
87. Recent riots against parade
JSH ,   Grapevine, Texas   (06.16.07)
Those who are actually the ones advocating and committing violence are those who are responsible. The ridiculous excuses of "they made me become violent by offending my beliefs" are the same ones Islamists use to rape, murder, torture, and mutilate; they are just as invalid no matter who is appealing to this feeble excuse. The one who commits or commands a violent act is directly responsible for it.
88. The reasons for 'Gay Pride'.
Liam Hogan ,   London U.K.   (06.16.07)
Nothing in the LGBT sexual arena is unnatural. From my argument, all variances of sexual expression that occurs in nature is 'natural ' by definition. It is only man made laws and custom that deem it otherwise. It is not a 'majority wins' issue we are speaking about here, but one of individual and group expression and the 'right' to express that 'variation' freely. No one ought to be made 'illegal' or devalued simply on the basis of their sexual expression or orientation. Sexual expression is merely one facet of our whole humanity and ought to be seen as such. Non-sex and sexual relationships, commitments, children, career, religion and family are as important to LGBT people as much as they are to heterosexuals. Sexuality became a larger focus due to the fact that it is a part of us which has been 'illegal' and 'repressed' by law and religion for centuries. 'Gay Pride' grew out ot this state of illegality and repression in the desire to show the wider world and each other that many such sexual variations exists in nature and ought to be tolerated and brought out of criminilisation and into tolerance. Sexual variation has no bearing on any other facet of a human being 's make up. Decriminalising variant sexual practices has had an enormous effect worldwide on those who find themselves affected by them. To my knowledge this has not caused Western Civilisation to collapse. Sexual varaints have always been among us as 'hidden' and valuable productive participants in society. Many of our Political, military, intellectual and cultural riole models attest to this. Like all forms of descrimination this is a scar on our species ability to fully comprehend ourselves within Creation. Shalom.
89. To Daniel #82: Judgment of Sodom was already set...
"Rebekah" Kmet ,   California   (06.16.07)
when the angels came to get Lot and his family out of the city. True, the crowd wanted to rape the angels, but the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah was not merely being unkind to guests. It was homosexually raping visitors, which is what you admitted the crowd wanted to do to the angels. How you could read the Torah and not see the judgment of the sin of homosexual rape of visitors and each other in Sodom tells me you could not read the Torah with understanding of the situation. In Leviticus, it is written that for a man to lie (sex)with a man as he lies (sex) with a woman is an abomination to ha'Shem. Being unkind to visitors and raping them is also an abomination. Mere unkindness in itself was not the key sin of Sodom. It was a violent criminal act with beds in the street for such rape in Sodom that ha'Shem had to judge. Ha'Shem does not hate repentent former homosexuals. Prodigals are not unwelcome in their father's home when the prodigal repents. But how can a righteous father approve of a sin ha'Shem hates? King David in the Bible loved King Saul's son Jonathan more than David ever loved a woman. David said his love for Jonathan SURPASSED his love for women. But that great love between those two men did not degenerate into homosexuality because they both loved ha'Shem more than they loved each other.
90. Rebekah Kmet 89
Daniel ,   Tel Aviv   (06.17.07)
Rebekah please point out where in the Torah it state that the rape was "homosexual." Ask any Rabbi what sex an angel is. For that matter read the passages it NEVER says that the sin was homosexuality. The sin was unkindness to strangers. Rape being a part of it. As to Leviticus it also says to stone people unto death for breaking Shabbat. You do not get to pick and choose which laws to follow because of prejudice. In addition David and Jonathon may or may not have been lovers we will never know. You can only CHOOSE to believe they were not. In those days it was not uncommon. And speaking of choice, when did you choose to be heterosexual and not homosexual? Were you aware of the choice or did it just occur? Don't talk about former homosexuals they really don't exist. Either they were not homosexual in the first place and were experimenting or they are not being honest with themselves and their families. That is a huge sin in Our God' Adonai's view. I know I wont change your bigoted mind, but as to a Pride Parade in Jerusalem, I commend the police for being democratic and just rather than succumbing to histrionics of a fundamentalist religious minority. In future if you don't live here it might be best to keep your views on your side of the Atlantic.
